Sat 1710: sound device problems

I hope somebody can help me out with a problem i'm having with sound on my satellite 1710/windows ME nd I really don't know much about comuters!!
I have only had this machine for a few weeks (second hand)and the only sound I can get fromm the machine is the start up bleep, and I am not 100% positive that there ever has been sound. Checking the sound option in control panel actually shows no playback devices in the sound playback preferred devices. I have removed the sound driver from the device manager and after a reboot a crystal soundfusion(tm) cs4281 wdm audio driver was installed - but no luck with sound i'm afraid. I'm presuming that there must be asound card if startup generated the notbook to auto install the crystal software.

yes there is a crystal audio device available and it is normally detected by ME like in your case!
Firstly you should enter the BIOS with ESC after starting the notebook and load default settings.
Did you get the Toshiba recovery CD when you bought the notebook second hand? If yes you should recover the notebook and unless the audio device doesn't work after that it might be a hardware failure!

Sound device problem in ZONE

I created a solaris zone for my desktop use, but the sound device was not avaialbe. I tried to export it from the global zone:

then rebooted the zone, login it, found there were several files added in /dev:

I tried the following methods but failed:
1. Change manually these files' mode to a+rw as root. But once I logged out the zone or rebooted the zone, the changes were lost.
2. Create a script in /etc/init.d/ and link it to /etc/rc3.d/ to let it auto execcute when boot, as below:

3. I added an entry in /var/spool/cron/crontabs/root to change the permissions every 10 mins, and it did work, strangely. However I think it's not a good method, because I have to wait for 10 minutes before I can login it (if I login the zone before the permissions were changed, the sound device will never work)

It's probably /etc/logindevperm that's fighting you. Read the comments in that file, then you can modify /dev/sound in it.
The idea is that only the user logged in on the console would normally have access to the audio device and the frame buffer, so the permissions are reset at login.
If you're having folks login through a separate zone, this changes that assumption.

Hi, I have problem with my new notebook *L650D-101* short part. num. *PSK1SE* with *Windows 7 64bit* and with *sound device*.
There is sound icon in the system tray, but with red circle with white cross and this message (I have Czech language and translated form from our language is) "There isn't connect any speaker or headphones", but this model have an built-in speakers... And if I go to volume control option (right click on speaker icon and the last item) I see only one audio device: High Definition Audio (Digital Sound HDMI). I think this is sound card placed od ATI HD graphic card. 7
I can connect my headphones to internal 3,5 jack, but still have the same problem and still have the same message...
I tried to install the latest sound drivers , that I can find, but with no success. I tried to run every windows update, uninstall sound driver, no success.
Can anybody help me please?

Do you use the preinstalled Windows version from Toshiba or did you install your own version?
As Akuma wrote check the device manager if you can see any yellow exclamation marks or unknown devices.
Easiest way to get rid of this is running recovery installation from Toshiba recovery disk. The original factory settings will be restored with all drivers and tools. After this everything should work properly again.

Sound device problems

I have a toshiba satellite a105 s4054. I reinstalled windows because of a major viurs. Everything works but the sound. It says when I go to the device manager that the device is working. No icon for sound is on the task tray either.
I have read some of the other comments and tried some suggestions but nothing works. I have tried to download other sound drivers from the download section but that did not work either.
How can I load the sound back on?

Sound Device Problem HP 510

Hi: I have HP 510 with windows XP SP2. I reinstalled my system some days back and the problem is that all the drivers are working except the sound. I tried to download the new driver from the HP Driver Support website, but in vain. The site link is broken or what but the download doesn't work. I also read on different forums and installed UAA but it doesnt work.
The installation always results in Failure...
Please help, I am really in a mess because of this...

Pavilion a1253w sound device problem and other

Have old Pavilion a1253w, XP ME. Device Mgr. shows two problem devices (yellow ?s w/ !s)...one multimedia audio controller, the other just below it just says "unknown device." They are both in a category named "other devices." I've tried downloading every possible available driver for this model, but nothing works. I could provide the entire system resource report, but maybe someone has a good notion of what is causing this problem. Have done all essential Windows updates. I had to re-install OS from non-HP disc and used the label OEM key to activate w/o problem...but pretty much all my original and HP software is gone except for the available drivers (not much). Any help appreciated.

No sound device...and problems to shut down...

a friend of mine kicked by mistake my Mac and after that I lost the sound device...even though it runs sometimes...it got character I guess...
and it also doesn't shut down sometimes and freezes...so I have to turn it off taking out the battery...
that's the solution I found...but I might have a problem...
can some one help me?

Did all these problems start with the trauma to the iBook from your friend's foot, or were they already there to some degree? Especially the freezing? If you were already having problems, the accidental kick may have just served to make them worse.
There are some general things that you could try. You could find the set of CD's that originally came with your iBook and find and run the Apple Hardware Test and see if anything comes up in the form of an error code. You could try resetting the PMU. You could go to Disk Utility and verify both permissions and the disk and repair if necessary. You could check and see how much free space remains on your hard drive.
Freezing could be software or hardware related. Because of the trauma to your machine, it may well be hardware. Nevertheless, it is well to do a little hard drive maintenance and software troubleshooting just to be sure that software is not a factor here.
Please post back with how it went with the AHT and DU and resetting the PMU.
Also, you can apply pressure to the lower left side of your iBook and see if this makes any difference.

Hello. I sent my WRT1900AC V1 to Linksys four days ago (Monday) via UPS with a RMA. Linksys paid the shipping and everything. The router is still in route, and it should arrive to their offices tomorrow. Once they receive the WRT1900 AC V1, they are going to send me an EA8500 as a replacement. But I have been reading the comments about the EA8500 here in the forum and it seems to have the same problems. I guess the firmware is extremely flawed in both routers (maybe it is almost the same code?). Anyway, I will try the EA8500 and I hope it works. I bought a temporary router from Walmart and I paid $35 for it. It is a Belink N600 DB. I can't believe that a $35 router is working a lot, lot, lot better than my previous $250 WRT1900AC router. Unbelievable. If the EA8500 doesn't work, I'm going to try and get my money back from Linksys, or contact The Consumerist or someone to get my money back and get a Nighthawk instead.

Premiere Pro CS6 does not recognize the USB PnP Sound device in order to produce a commentary sound track. The USB device has been activated on the iMac OSX by using the Audio-MIDI-setup and is working correctly with the iMac. When opening > presets >audio hardware I can only select between >standard >out integrated > digital input integrated >microphone integrated. USB PnP is not indicated at this place.
With the built-in microphone of the iMac I can produce the commentary sound track, but I would prefer a stand alone version for better quality.

I'm using a Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 (which has a microphone on the side). I have several other devices plugged into separate USB slots: a keyboard, a mouse, my iPhone, and a Roland keyboard midi controller.
I've considered that maybe the webcam/mic combo is the culprit. If USB doesn't work at a constant speed, that could very well be causing the issue! The sound begins to lag badly sometimes when it's working properly, so that there's a multisecond delay between speaking and hearing my voice repeated back over the mic which is another sign that something is wrong. I've also caught it making a strange electronic sound during its "hang" time once it stops taking sound input correctly.
Maybe I should try to use line-in and forgo USB altogether then. I think I'd need a preamp and some sort of converter for that since the Mac Mini lacks a powered mic jack. I'm only a newbie musician so I've never set up such a system but it might be a better solution in the long run.
I'll check to see if it hangs before or after my computer enters suspend mode, that's a good suggestion too. Thank you for your help!

Problems with aggregate sound device

Hi,
when making an aggregate sound device in the Audio Setup, I only get one source to pass it's sound through the device. I've tried different sources: USB-microphone, usb-soundcard, internal microphone, soundflower and so on. They all work fine, but only one at a time. If I add multiple devices only the first one added will work.
The odd thing is that the level indicator, e.g. in Quicktime, shows sound from both sources, while only the first one added will be recorded.
And yes, I've set the sampling rates of all devices to the same value (44100,0 Hz).

Does anyone know where on the filesystem these settings are actually stored? /Library/Preferences/com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist seems like a likely candidate, but it doesn't say anything about my aggregate device that Audio MIDI Setup clearly shows... And /Library/Preferences/com.apple.audio.AudioMIDISetup.plist is just a very short file containing a serialized ObjC object or three...

Does the device get any signal?
Sounds like the device may have had a hardware failure. If it is out of warranty, the only option is the Out of Warranty replacement.
AppleCare is only an option if it is still under the original warranty.

Wengo; Skype! No working sound device

Hi!
I tried to use wengo phone and skype on my PC but whenever I want to make a call or receive a call I can not hear anything and my mic also doesn't work. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Is it because of the old OSS? I thought wengo already uses alsa (I'm using the Beta version 2)? The sound device works fine when playing music and stuff.... it just won't work using the VoIP software!

Yes, I already installed skype-hijacker and it didn't work.
It seems that I cannot record things in general. But I already checked my settings in KMix and the mic is activated for recording. I also can hear that it's activated when testing it. I don't know why it doesn't work from within the applications.
I also cannot hear anybody in Skype or Wengophone but listening to music is not a big deal (I don't do this the same time, VoIP and listening to music so the apps don't have to share any ressource)....
What else could it be?

It also takes time for the photos to be transferred out of your iPhone and into Photo stream on Apple's iCloud servers.
Note that this can't happen if your iPhone is not connected to a WiFi network:
When you enable My Photo Stream on your devices, all new photos you take or import to those devices will be automatically added to your photo stream.
iOS devices: New photos you take are automatically uploaded to your photo stream when you leave the Camera app and are connected to Wi-Fi. My Photo Stream does not push photos over cellular connections.
Macs: Any new photos you import to iPhoto or Aperture begin uploading automatically when you have a Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection. Or you can change your iPhoto or Aperture preferences so that only photos you manually add to My Photo Stream are uploaded.
PC with iCloud Control Panel 2.0 or later: Open a Windows Explorer window and under Favorites select iCloud Photos if you are using iCloud Control Panel 3.0 (or Photo Stream if you are using 2.0 to 2.1.2). As soon as i plugged in the second card and booted the system, i got a quite reliable bluescreen SYSTEM_EXIT_OWNED_MUTEX, which indicates improper handling of shared ressources by the driver. I performed extensi've testing on two different machines with both Windows 7 64-Bit and Windows XP 32, freshly installed and patched, latest drivers, no other software or sound hardware present, but the problem persisted. I contacted support an was told that a such a combination is neither tested nor supported by Creative. So now I am stuck with two expensi've cards, that don't work together. Is there any information from Creative which devices will work flawlessly together if combined? For example the X-Fi Go!. It's USB. How many of those will work together in one system? (if more than ) Can I plug in a Soundblaster Play USB device simultaniously? Does Creative test for things like these? And why ist there a "Select Audio Device" option in the Creative Console application if multiple cards don't work?

To know whether the activation is client dependent or client
independent you need to check table SFWPARAM for any entries. If it
does not have any entry then its client independent (repository changes)
It affects all the clients. Please make entry in table SFWPARAM
and try !
