Sat nav blutooth connection

Is there anyway I can get my iPhone 4 to connect to my Garmin satnav? Although I keep trying to pair them up they cannot find each other - I suppose another failing of the iphone 4?

Does the Bluetooth do anything worthwhile, are Apple ever going to resolve this issue??

  • Connecting N95 to Sat Nav???

I bought a sat nav (Navman) and i am unable to find it when i search to pair devices on my n95. both bluetooths are swithched on but unable to find
    Anybody any suggestions
    many thanks

If NAVMAN hasn't changed, they're a bit of a problematic device with Nokia phones, because NAVMAN uses a Bluetooth pairing code of "NAVMAN" (all letters) and Nokia phones only support Bluetooth pairing codes that are all numbers (digits).
If you need an external Bluetooth GPS receiver with your N95, then return (or sell) the NAVMAN and buy some other manufacturer's GPS receiver, instead.

  • N86 three and free sat nav

I cannot get  free sat nav on my n86
When questioning three , and after they flatly denied that nokia did free sat nav,I had to direct them to the nokia site and then tell them how to investigating finally went and asked the resident expert!
He said it was all nokias fault as nokia have not released the right software to them and they did not know when this would happen, strangely enough they are still selling the telephone.
All this adds up to if you have three you cannot get free sat nave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If anyone from nokia reads this site in the famous word
go on go on go on

did you get this sorted out?  Iv got the same problem as im on three network also but there is a way round this problem if you are still using V11.043 version (latest version three has approved back in 2009). if you can get E52 ovi map app v3.03, this works ok on my phone.
And why are three network suck cants when it comes to updating nokia software.... Saw a full 2 years on previous N73 with associated bugs that were never sorted out for three customers as they didn't approve any software updates on that either- including Nokia phone not connecting with Nokia bluetooth car kit due to no firmware updates from three, also phone freezing, white screen freezes, camera slower than a week in jail, list goes on, 3 different replacement handsets all the same. OTELO complaints got me some compo from three network due to faults caused directly by three not updating software.
Got a funny feeling this N86 is gonna be the same for software updates... NONE FOR ANY THREE CUSTOMERS, but updates for other network operators handsets.
Because im with the three network im not entitled to face recognition on my camera nor am i entitled to free ovi satnav for life nor im i entitled to any performance tweaks or improved functions....... All because I am with the three network..... YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR I SUPPOSE!
Do you honestly think anyone at three is going to look over latest software release from nokia and adjust and modify it to suit a handset that they no longer sell?   doubt it.
COME ON NOKIA, COME ON THREE!

  • Using Sat nav only on iphone 3g or 3gs.

I am going to buy iphone for using as sat nav when cycling abroad. I dont want to have a phone contract yet because i dont need internet usage plus its very expensive.
If i buy the iphone and want to use tom tom sat nav app, how do i get the app onto my iphone if the iphone doesnt have any contract/internet connection?

Just sync it to your phone through iTunes.

  • Iphone 3gs compatiblity with Tom tom sat nav

just got anew I phone 3GS - after checking it had bluetooth etc ; I assumed it would interface using bluetooth, with my Tom Tom not only for hands free calling but also to download up to date traffic information - as did my old Samsung SGH G600. The telephone calling is fine but apparently Tom Tom now tell me the sat nav units are not compatible with iphone for getting the traffic information downloaded via the internet.
I never dreamt (perhaps naively) that a major phone supplier like Apple would not automatically be compatible with Tom Tom.
Anyone come accross this problem and got a solution - other than buying a new sat nav or an additional sim card for my old phone plus a subscription or pay as you go cost of course!!

Thanks for info. I know there is/are an app(s) for this but not fully investigated it yet as I want to be certain I cannot just 'fix' my current problem and continue to use Tom tom with iphone as i did previously with Tom Tom/Samsung.
If I do look have to look for alternatives Tom Tom do a new satnav with 'hd traffic live updates ' which I understand does not need a phone connection at all - sounds interesting

  • Hi. Can you tell me if using the sat nav functionality on the in-built maps app on my iphone 5, uses just GPS (hence no cost) or GPS and data roaming, hence a running cost for the extent of my journey?

    Hi
As the tile says, I am looking to find out if I need to purchase an actual Sat-nav app or if I can use the inbuilt functionality and not incur additional data charges
    Thanks

The built in Maps apps requires a data connection to download mapping data. So, if you want to avoid data costs, you need to purchase a navigation app that stores the data locally on your phone.

  • Can I use sat nav on iPad Air without 3G or wifi

Can I use a sat nav app on my iPad Air without 3G or wifi

Why are you commenting on a thread that's more than 6 months old? If you'd read my response you'd see I had not intended any sarcasm. Neither is it my fault that someone posting may not have fully thought through what it is they're asking which is the advice given by these Forums prior to posting.
The 'i' prefix in anything Apple makes stands for 'internet' which is common knowledge. SatNav can't possibly work without having some kind of network connection either through Wi-Fi or 3G. As I understand it asking that question is a bit like asking "can I fly to any country in the world without using a plane?".
It's OK to ask what most perceive as a 'dumb' question and it's equally OK to respond by asking if it's a serious question. There are a lot of time wasters whom have nothing better to do other than asking questions that require no answers or have no answers. "Serious or non-serious techies" like me (which I'm not) like to give something back to the community of Apple Users because (in the main) we want to be helpful.
Again no sarcasm intended to anyone.

  • Crashing with Sat nav

    Hi
I have Navigon Sat nav loaded.
However, it keeps crashing - Screen goes black then silver apple is displayed and I have to restart.
It does it with navigon running, BUT ALSO with the in-built apple satnav too.
It doesn't crash when I just have gps running.
So it seems to be a phone fault.
    Any ideas?

All the Nokia Smartphones are capable of running Sat-Nav programs, including the 6600, 6630, 6680, N70, N90 & 9500 to mention a few. I think that I am right in saying that if the phone has a memory card slot, then it is a smartphone. Perhaps someone could correct me if I am wrong. You can also check the websites of the Sat-Nav software companies for compatible phones.
There are also a number of different Sat-Nav programs available including TomTom Mobile, Route 66, Navicore and Wayfinder. For reviews of the different options have a look at www.pocketgps.co.uk and look for mobile phone navigation reviews.
Beware though that there is an issue with using TomTom on the N70 where the bluetooth connection between the phone and GPS reciever keeps dropping so if TomTom Mobile or the N70 are your favoured options, consider a different phone or Sat-Nav software.

  • Sat Nav without data charges?

Hi, would love to know how to use the sat nav w/o connecting to the net, I have disabled assisted GPS - is this enough? I dont want to eat into my data useage each time I use the sat nav...I'm sure it can be done but cant remenber how! FYI its a C6.
    Thanks in advance folks

You have to disable all other positioning methods apart from Integrated gps.
You also need to pre-download the map data and set Ovi Maps to Offline.

  • Sat nav and internet

I seem to have no recognised server any more and cannot get use of sat nav or internet.  its possible my "helpful" son has changed the settings to vodafone with whom I dont have an account!! I 'm with BT. if this is the case how can I get back on track

    @oderoger
Are you still with 5230 or have you moved on?
Try going to Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Destinations > Internet - hopefully a matter of "Options" > "Organise" > "Change priority" if your son hasn't deleted the o2 access points!
If no sign of them you might have to get settings resent by provider in SMS.

  • Re: Phones with Sat-Nav

    I have route 66 mobile 7 running on a nokia n3230 with a full car kit ck-7w c/w cu-t button.
If I use the sat nav with the phone out of the cradle it works fine, as soon as I plug it into the cr28 cradle i only receive about two voice messagers and then the sound stops.
    Any ideas?

  • Problem with Sat Nav

Hi there, I am experiencing some problems when trying to use my Sat Nav on my Curve. When I start up the application, it opens for a few seconds then pops up with a message saying 'A network error has occured, please try again later. If this problem persists, please check your network settings or contact customer support.' What should my network settings be, and how do I change them? I don't think I touched the settings for that, since getting the phone.
    Any help greatly appreciated!
    Thanks
    Tom

    @MaryP
    Welcome to the forum!
As well as OVI Maps application needing to be set "Offline" within application > Spanner icon > Internet > Connection, you would need to go to Menu > Settings > Application settings > Positioning > Positioning methods - only enable Integrated GPS positioning method for no data cost although implication for satellite lock on if not utilising Assisted GPS feature with network access.
You may find that you need to go outdoors away from tall buildings for 20 - 30 minutes to establish first positional fix.
If you are not running OVI Maps v3.06 11wk10 check "?" icon within application > About Maps > Versions you may need to upgrade either via SW Update or OVI Store on device, via OVI Suite > Tools > Software updates on PC or directly from here:http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/maps-support/compatibility-and-download#/nokia-n8-00...
If your N8 is not already updated to PR1.2 check by keying in *#0000# on dialler you could find that device still running OVI Maps v3.04, in which case you would be told that existing map data on mass memory has to be deleted and replaced when OVI Maps application updated.

  • Phones with Sat-Nav

Hi, I am trying to upgrade to a phone with sat-nav, however I can't seem to find out which phones are capable of Sat-Nav. The Nokia website doesn't really have flashing lights with a banner saying "use sat-nav on this phone".
Can anyone tell me what phone you are using sat-nav on, does it work well, and would you upgrade anything on it, in order for it to work more efficiently?

  • E90 inaccurate Sat Nav

Been using Garmin with Nokia E90. I know Garmin has a facility to put the Sat Nav position "on the road" instead of the "actual position".
I find this unusual. TomTom on my E61 (with external GPS) was always accurate.
Is there any way to solve this. My position using Garmin is always inaccurate unless I am selecting the "on the road" facility. Is my GPS not functioning correctly?

The E90 AGPS can only give an approximate positioning at the best, for what it is as stand alone it's acceptable.
On my previous handset you can connect to an external receiver.
AGPS doesn't concur to improve accuracy in anyway (given only by the onboard receiver and chipset) but only to reduce the time needed for the first satellite fix (acquisition). In fact, AGPS downloads some data from servers, in order to determine the satellite position (known from almanac) and choose the gps satellites in sight for your current position and acquire them. You need to acquire 4 satellite (minimum) to solve the equation of position and time so AGPS only reduce the number of satellite to search.

  • Problems pairing with Garmin Nuvi 1310 sat nav

I have been trying to connect to a Garmin Nuvi 1310 sat nav. It set up first time, however when I switch off the sat nav and then turn it back on my phone will not connect automatically. I have to remove it from the list on the Garmin and start all over again. Surely this can't be right, my old iPhone re-connected automatically everytime. Is there a setting I need to adjust?

I bought a Garmin 265WT recently and could pair my iPhone 1st generation to the unit but it would constantly reboot the Garmin unit. After reading all the support forums and upgrading to the latest software releases on both my iPhone and Garmin 265WT
I could not get the problem resolved running the below software/firmware:
    iPhone 2.2 and 2.2.1
Garmin 4.8 with Bluetooth Firmware 1.7
I finally called Garmin and they shipped me another unit. The new unit worked without any problems even with older software and firmware. Seems as if the reboot problem might be more than just software and firmware related.
My iphone at this point is running 2.2.1 but the below software and firmware revisions of the new Garmin 265WT worked:
The new unit came with software:
    Software Version 4.40
    GPS SW Version 2.38b
    Bluetooth SW Version 1.65
This worked no problem with bluetooth. No reboots....
    I even upgraded to:
    Software Version 5.0
    Bluetooth SW Version 1.7
The unit still worked no problem. I can only suspect the issue here is hardware related in some cases. So for some people the upgraded software/firmware may work. But if you are running both iPhone 2.2.1 (1st Gen Phone) and the latest software and Bluetooth firmware and still have the problem I would call Garmin and have them replace the unit.
