Sat P105-S2036 WinVista SD memory card device not shown in WIndows Explorer

The label on the botton of the laptop says the Model Number is PSPAOU-1W2036. I have had it for about 2 years. It has a single slot SD memory card only reader in the front. During this time till 2 days ago, it ran factory installed Windows XP MCE just fine. This SD reader shows up in Device Manager as well as in My Computer Windows Explorer window as a drive with letter D since I renamed the DVD drive to letter R. During the last two days, I successfully upgraded the operating system to Windows Vista Ultimate. Everything works fine except that the SD memory card reader no longer shows in neither Device Manager, nor Windows Explorer. But the Device Manager does show a working SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller, and a nonworking Mass Storage Controller (missing driver) under Other devices (See Attachment 1). What needs to be done to make the SD memory card reader a working device in Windows Vista? Thank to answers in advance.

Card reader not recognized in Windows Explorer

My Dell XPS 8500 has an internal card reader. An inserted card was always recognized as soon as it was inserted. After installing Lightroom, the inserted card is no longer recognized by My Computer until after I start lightroom and begin the import process. I would prefer to copy my photos from the card to a chosen file on my hard drive without Lightroom's intervention. Is there a way to accomplish this?

Are you saying Windows Explorer doesn't show the card reader as a drive letter (E: or other letter), but LR does? Please take a screenshot of the LR Import screen and Windows Explorer screens as shown below. On my system the card reader appears as drive I: in both Windows Explorer and LR's Import module:

my memory card is not showing up on the home screen when i plug it in but it shows the computer found it in system preferences. when i plugged these into a imac back in school it showed up how come its not showing up on my less then 24hr old mac. sorry beginner mac user

Finder > Finder Menu > Finder Preferences (these are not in System Preferences)
The General pane has checkboxes for various devices to show on the Desktop. A memory card is considered an external drive. If you want to see it on the Desktop when it mounts, check the external drives checkbox.

i have a 6230 and i use pc suite, but in mobile phone browser my memory card does not show up. all the other files are there, and the memory card works fine in the phone.
any ideas?

If the above doesn't work, please find out what software version your phone has by typing *#0000# into the keypad. If it is an oldish one you might consider a SW upgrade.

USB ports and memory card slots not working

My Pavilion a6120n desktop has worked brilliantly ever since I purchased it. As of last week the 2 usb ports in the front and the 2 unused usb ports in the back have stopped working. My printer is plugged into one rear port and my wireless mouse is plugged into a second rear port and these work fine. I generally use a memory stick for data swapping or the card reader slots (which have also stopped working). I no longer see the memory card icons in the "Computer" window. When installing something new the "New Hardware Found" statement pops up but the driver install always fails. I think it is a software issue but there are no usb drivers to download on the HP/support site that I can find. . . so . . . Below is what I have tried so far.Run antivirus software. Full scan & memory scan - no issuesRun malewarebytes full scan - no issues I have tried restarting several times with no success. Restore to several previous restore points = failedRestarting computer in repair mode = failedRun the repair disk that I had made = failedChecked the power management for each usb port to see if the power was routed properly = okRemoved the case cover and carefully inspected the wiring and connectors.finally I tried uninstalling the usb drivers = failed Upon restarting the computer the last time the startup file must have failed and after several hours of attempting a repair I had to reinstall the Window 7 completely. Device not recognized by Windows or iTunes - Blinking green light

When I try to connect my iPod shuffle to my computer (Windows XP), it's not recognized by Windows or iTunes. (i.e. device does not appear in Windows explorer or iTunes) While in the USB port, the Shuffle's green light blinks incessantly. My wife uses an iPod on this machine (under separate user name) and has no problems.
I've tried updating software (iTunes, iPod), restarting my computer and resetting the iPod to no avail. My machine is not on a network. The USB port(s) work fine as I can use my memory stick (no USB cable) with no problems. I've tried connecting my Shuffle under my user name as well as my wife's. Same problem.
Also, I had my Shuffle setup on an old computer (PC, Windows 2000) and it still works fine plugging into that. (I'm getting rid of it soon, hence why I'm discovering these new problems).
Please advise. Since my Shuffle is over a year old, I am not eligible for online chat or phone support without paying for an Apple Support agreement.
I know there's another thread with the same issue that was not resolved on the discussion board.

Recently I used my ipod at work all night, just like normal. After work on the way home, like normal, I plugged it into my aux port on my car's head unit, and plugged it into power. 10 minutes later, in the middle of going over Ortgea Highway(hiway 74 between Orange and Riverside Counties), it just suddenly stopped working. When I plug it into any of my computers at home, nothing happens, it is not recognized or seen. When I plug it into power, it displays either a "sad ipod icon" or a battery with exclamation mark(!) icon. I have brand new power adapters both for the car and home, plus brand new usb cables, thinking that would help. It hasn't and now, since I opened those packages, I am out that $$ and ******. Since I received this unit as payment for electrical services rendered, I have no idea how old it is. Does anyone have any ideas? ([email protected])

Wireless Card does not work in Windows 8.1 for G585

I just wanted to inform someone that the wireless network card does not work in Windows 8.1 Preview. I suspect the driver needs to be updated. When I go to the Device Manager it appears as a Realtek device RTL8192DE instead of a Qualcomm device that does not start. I tried installing the latest driver from the website but it makes the computer crash (BSOD) when trying to reboot after the installation which makes the Windows 8 automatic recovery turn on and I had to restore the system to a previous state before the driver installation.
For now, I just refreshed my system back to Windows 8, instead of trying to use Windows 8.1 Preview . If you have any suggestions, it would be great, otherwise I'll wait for a driver update.

USB Device not recognized by windows

When I first plugged my iPod into my computer, it went through the whole recognizing new hardware thing. Installed the drivers, then said that the new device was ready to use. But then I get a message that says "Device malfunction, device not recognized by windows" or something to that effect. I only have 3 days to return this iPod...anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

I'm not very familiar with the Windows OS but try this tip I picked on the forum up a while back, hopefully it might help.
1. On the Start menu, click Control Panel.
2. Double-click the System icon.
3. Click the Hardware tab.
4. Click Device Manager.
5. Scroll down the list of devices to the Universal Serial Bus controllers
6. Click the plus icon next to the Universal Serial Bus controllers.
7. Double-click one of the indented USB Root Hub entries.
8. Click the Power Management tab.
9. Deselect the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option.
10. Click the OK button at the bottom of the window.
11. Restart the computer.

IPhone device is not recognised by windows Explorer

My iPhone works normally with iTunes, and the computer acknowledges it's presence with a ding dong when i plug it in and remove it. Yet it does not appear in the my computer folder hence i cannot access it's drive to add/remove photos and videos from the library.
Any tips?:)

i am having the same problem. my iphone is recognized by itunes (both 10.7 and 11, i have tried installing/reinstalling both versions), but it is not recognized by windows explorer as an iphone so i cannot pull my camera pictures off of it.
funnily enough, while i was in between installations, windows did recognize it as a 'camera', but the moment apple mobile device services was reinstalled by one or the other program, i lost that.
final thing: i have a separate ipod nano 5th gen, it has the option for disk use checked and it does show up in explorer when i plug it in. so i'm somewhat certain that it's my iphone itself, but i've tried resetting it to factory defaults and restoring it's backups and that hasn't fixed the problem.

Why PCI reflective memory card can not be detected?

It was confusing when I use a VISA Find Source node to detect instruments connected to my computer. A VMIC's reflective memory card----VMIPCI5565---can not be found while it could function well with its own exacutable programme borned with driver. What's more worse,a VXI structure that copmosed of a HPE8491 0-slot controller and a HPE1412 Multi-Meter did not turn up either. And the VXI structure is connected with computer by a IEEE--1394 adapter which was ploted in a PCI slot.
SO , it is the problem related to hardware or some others? How to find the instruments that are un-NI products?

There seems to be application clashes to use the device whenever connected.
Download and install the latest version of PC Suite 7.1 (Supports Windows 7, also please uninstall the previous version of PC suite exists in your computer before proceeding.

Memory Card 'Dummy' not included - where to find?

I just bought a U430 Touch via AMazon.com. It was provided by a secondary vendor. The laptop did not include a Memory Card 'Dummy' to keep the slot covered and prevent dust and debris from entering the laptop.
Lenovo does not provide any mechanism I can find to contact them and ask for this item.

Amazon could not help me find the item but was very helpful.
I also don't have a spare memory card (the slot is much larger than the SD cards I have for other devices) so I can't just put a card into the slot to perform the same function as the dummy.
Does anyone know how to contact Lenovo, or how to get them to send me this item?
DOes anyone know where to get this item elsewhere if I cannot get it from Lenovo?

HP Envy Touchsmart 15-J104sa Memory Card Reader not working

I took delivery of an HP Envy Touchsmart 15-J104sa running Windows 8.1 this week and the internal memory card reader isn't working. It doesn't recognise any SD cards (I've tried more than one) and continues as if nothing has been inserted; showing no error messages. All of the cards work on my previous HP laptop. The only way to get the laptop to show an inserted SD card is to run the driver update software (http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63001-63500/sp63415.exe) every time an SD card is inserted; this must be done with the card in the reader. If the software is run and then the card is inserted nothing happens. If the card is ejected and then re-inserted (or a new card inserted) it isn't recognised and the process has to be restarted and the driver reinstalled even though nothing has changed.
Can somebody please help me with this issue or I will have to return the laptop to HP. I do a lot of photography so being able to read an SD card quickly and reliably is extremely important for me; it's not a problem I expected from a brand new laptop straight out of the box.

Unfortunately non of the driver updates solved the problem but a BIOS update through the HP Support application seems to have remedied the issue. Whilst I appreciate there were no specific drivers available I find it hard to accept that HP should be able to release a model where they know the hardware will not be fully supported by the OS and in this case not function.

USB memory card reader not working since latest security update

Hi, I have an iApp CR-e500 multi-format memory card reader; worked great prior to the latest security update. Now every time I plug it in I get the following errors in the console:

The reader works fine on my office Windows laptop and my USB pendrive still works on my Mac, so the USB ports appear to be functional; they just don't like this thing anymore.
Was there a USB driver change? If so is there anything I can do to sort this? I suppose I could just buy a new card reader if someone can confirm one that works with the latest security update of 10.4.11, that would be great.
Alternatively if Apple could please loosen up whatever they tightened in their USB drivers that would be nice as well...

Disregard. Looks like it's the memory card I'm trying to mount; not working on the Windows machine either.
