Sat Pro 6000 does not power up.

Hi,
I have a couple of problems with SP6000's, that when it comes to powering them on, they either will not start or start and then fail just as the OS has finished booting. It appears to be some sort of power problem, but I wondered if anyone else has had a similar problem?
This problem has occurred with both 4 or 5 work laptops and my home laptop. As you can imagine, it is more concerning that my home pc has gone wrong!
Please can someone let me know of a cure, or at least give me some real clues as to what is possibly going wrong? I have changed both power suply and battery, just in case.
Keenly hoping,
Dave

Hi
It would be very interesting to know if this strange problem occurs after the power supply and battery changing or before you changed anything.
Did you try to recover your OS? How long runs OS on the unit? In my opinion you should try if this problem occurs on the clean OS.
Bye

  • MacBook Pro A1260 - does not power on

The MacBook Pro does not power on.
When I press the power button shortly, the sleep indicator light goes on and goes off again (with the macbook going off) within less than a second.
When I press and hold the power button, the sleep indicator light goes on, stays on for about 4 seconds, then begins flashing quickly (4..5 times per second?) for a second or two and then goes off (together with the macbook going off).
    What does the blinking mean?
I tried with the battery only.
I tried with power chord only (battery removed).
I tried with battery and power chord connected.
    Each time the same result.
The macbook used to have an original power supply, but that broke down. Now I use a nonane replacement, which worked well for some months.
What can I do to fix it?
    EDITT:
The screen remains black all the time - the macbook does not beep. I can hear the DVD drive start up - also I believe that I can hear the CPU fan.

You can try a SMC reset:Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
Follow directions for the battery that applies to your machine (one you can remove yourself, or one you should not remove yourself)
3rd party power supplies have been know to cause issues.
I have a machine where I can remove the battery. I followed the SMC reset steps - no change.

  • Satallite Pro 440cdx does not power up - black screen

    I have a Satellite Pro 440cdx.
Laptop has been sitting for while under bit unknown condition.
When bought it I just got power supply for it. Charging battery light is on.
Computer powers up, I can hear HDD running but then there it no picture on screen.
What can I do or what would the problem could be?

Try to remove the battery from the notebook and disconnect the AC adaptor for a while.
Wait about 20-30min and connect both parts again.
Then try to power up the notebook and check if the screen will appears.
In most similar cases this procedure helped so maybe it helps you too.
    Good luck

  • MP 1,1 had HD failure and does not power SATA since. How to fix?

    Hi,
My MP 1,1 had a HD that went bonkers and most likely fried something. The machine will boot a HD from USB but attaching the same HD to an internal bay (SATA 1-4) will not power it. Also, DVD does not seem powered as it will not eject.
Can this be fixed in any other way than changing the PSU? Are there any fuses that can be replaced. Everything but the SATA seems to work.
    br,
    GN

Yes, measuring the Molex actually shows the correct voltage. So that should mean that the PSU is working.
Is there anyway to fix the (most likely) fried SATA controller?
Also, powering the MP now makes it go into defensive mode with all fans att max...

  • Mac book pro fully charged but does not power on

My Mac book  pro is fully charged but does not power on.No lights sounds...nothing!

try doing SMC reset, the following article tells how:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
if it still won't turn on try the following article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1367
if neither of this helps i would take to apple store or apple service provider and have it looked at for possible repair.

  • Satellite Pro 440 CDT does not power up

Hi, I have an old 440 CDT which does not power up. Anyone any ideas???
AC is connected, power light is on, green. Battery is dead (as in buried). When I press the power button, the following happens:
    - On light is green
    - Num lock key (the one with the "A" on it) flashes 3 times: long-short-short
    - HDD light flashes on 1 time, green
    - CD light flashes on 1 time, orange
    - Popping sound in the speakers
Then it turns off again, with the power light burning green constantly.
Nothing happens on the display (tried FN F5). I also switched CD/floppy, attached both, with or without battery, no help.
    I am puzzled, please help!
    thx, Eric

    Hello Eric
Like you know, on this way it is not possible to give any precise diagnostic, just speculate what the problem can be. In my opinion it is definitely because of defective electronic on board but what exactly it is not easy to say. Try to contact someone who has experience with notebook repair procedure.

  • Screen/Computer does not Power Up when life the Display from being Closed

Sometimes (not always), when i come back to my MacBook Pro and open the display after it has been closed for a bit, the screen and computer does not power back up or anything. If you look at the screen there is a very FAINT image on the screen of whatever was open when the screen was closed, but you can't do anything, nothing is responsive, etc. I have to hold down the power button until it turns off, and then right before it turns off the screen will power up for one second and then shuts off. Any ideas?

I am having a similar issue when transitioning from my external display via the Mini Display to DVI adapter back to the internal LCD. The screen will go black, the machine will not sleep if I close the lid, and none of they key commands appear to work. The only response I can get is the caps lock key will turn off and on. When I restart the machine, I get no details on a Kernel Panic, or anything else, so wondering if it has something to do with the video drivers.

  • Imac g4 does not power on, but everything checks out???

Alas, my (formerly) trusty imac does not power up anymore. I've tried every step in the service manual up to the point of replacing hardware, and so far no luck. Details of the machine, the problem, and what I've done follow.
The short story is that I'm faced with replacing the power supply and/or the logic board after both passed the diagnostic tests recommended in the service manual. Since they both passed the tests, my hopes for success are not high, but at the same time, replacement costs for the two (if I wind up replacing both) run about the same as a replacement machine on ebay! On top of that, I suspect the diagnostic tests available do not test one power supply output -- so maybe it's bad but I just can't tell.
I would appreciate any advice on the situation. Also, does anyone know if the power supply for the 1st gen machines (800MHz, 15") is supposed to have both 12V and 5V outputs? Thanks a bunch!
The computer: iMac G4 flat panel 800MHz, working fine from purchase in January 2002 (right after they came out) until August 2006
The situation: I moved to Japan. Upon unpacking the imac, it would not power on -- no screen, no bong, no sleep light, no fan noise, nada.
    What I have tried:
    -- taking it to the apple store (they quoted a $500-$800 repair -- ouch!);
-- opening it up and looking for lose wires, burned out power supply components, etc.: nothing found
--try new power cable; test line filter: everything okay
    -- reset PMU: no change
-- test battery: checks out, 3.58v; returned battery to imac, reset PMU: no change to computer (i.e. still no power)
--test power supply and logic board points as per service manual instructions; 12 V registered at all points. tests passed. But I wonder: I have read the the PS for some imacs are supposed to have a 5V output too, but there is no test for that output on this model. I wonder if there is a 5V output on this model, and if there is a way to test for it?
for those of you counting, that was 2 resets of the PMU, one before i removed and reinserted the battery, and one after. Both PMU resets were done by pressing the button once and holding for about 1 second.
    thanks any and all!
    david

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Whilst some iMac G4 models share similar components many differ subtly.
Use this website to compare part numbers against model.
If you download (4.2Mb) this service guide there is a troubleshooting section that may help you.

  • 8800 does not power on but shows the charging symbol! HELP!

    Hello everyone,
I have been searching for days now across the web for a solution to a very bugging situation. A'las i am close to giving up. someone please try and help. So here is the problem: I recently bought a 8800 rim (branded for cingular/AT&T but UNLOCKED) from ebay powerseller with 100% rep. it was advertised in MINt condition.
It arrived two days later and seemed in great physical condition.
So i plug in the charger and let it charge for more than 8 hours. I try turning it on but to no avail. During the charge the screen goes dimly on and shows a battery with an electric bolt going through (I assume that means charging..).
It initially seemed to me as a battery problem. So i took it to a local store and borrowed one of their batteries for 8800 and the phone started working fine also made a call with my temporary T-mobile sim inserted. (although their battery was also on low charge)---
So i come home and with a new OEM 8800 battery. plugged it in and charged for like 4 hours and the screen goes on with the charging symbol but does not power on.
I have repeatedly searched through the WWW and came across wide variety of dilemmas but none were any helpful. I also tried installing the latest OS...which also spectacularly failed [got an error that ...loading failed during the mult-load seesion...or something like that. I followed several very well written guides [advising that the manager and OS be installed on PC and etc.].
SO I MAKE A DESPERATE REQUEST FOR HELP FROM ANYONE OUT THERE WHO CAN HELP. WHAT'S THE DIAGNOSIS WITH THIS BB. IT WAS ABLE TO WORK WITH THE BORROWED BATTERY FROM A LOCAL STORE..EVEN MADE A CALL AND EVERYTHING...BUT WITH THE BATTERY THAT CAME WITH THE eBay PURCHASE AND THE THE BRAND NEW THAT I BOUGHT....IT DOES NOT POWER ON.
BESIDES HOW LONG SHOULD I BE CHARGING IF IT IS NEW OR IF THE PHONE HAS NOT BEEN IN USE FROM SOME TIME??
    THANKS IN ADVANCE.
    Please help ASAP.
    Mirza

How are you charging the BlackBerry? Do you have a wall charger or are you charging via USB cable from your PC? Its also possible that the charging circut in your BlackBerry is faulty. This would explain why a charged battery works while your uncharged battery is not.

I have had my iMac for 55 days now and twice I had to power off/on and then It does not power up correctly.  I verified my disk and found errors that could not be repaired (errors were associated with boot drive)  I erased the drive and restored system back to the previous day.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Since it's a new machine, contact Apple's Support and let them deal with it. Allen's already recommended an Apple repair station visit. Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you might be eligible for an onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine (depends on where you're located).  BTW, the AppleCare Protection Plan's the best warranty policy available for desktop machines. Get it if you don't have it before contacting Apple.
