SATA controller drivers

i have a t60 that i need to reinstall windows on.  this is not possible without the controller drivers.
after tech support graciously hung up on me when they told me they didnt know what they were and didnt have them, i am left with no idea of where to obtain such drivers.

Sounds like you need the Intel Matrix Storage Manager drivers:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-62909
For future reference,  you can always go to the main support page at www.lenovo.com/support
then enter in your Machine Type Model (MTM) number.  Then click on Drivers and Downloads.
OR
Go to the main support page,  click on "Driver matrices (most common files)" ,  then click on ThinkPad,  then click on your particular type.

  • Sata Controller Drivers - Help!

I've had to replace the hard drive and have a brand new 120GB Seagate SATA 7200RPM 8MB Cache, however i do not have any of the original floppy discs or driver discs for the motherboard.
I've been to both the Intel & MSI site and neither of which have any SATA COntroller drivers, i need them as i want to load Win XP Pro SP2 onto the SATA and its my only drive!!
    Please someone help!

You don't need any SATA drivers for WinXP and that board. The board just makes Windows see 2 more IDE channels. But you have to configure it properly in the BIOS.
Use Native Mode to enable both IDE channels and both SATA channels.
    BIOS>>Integrated Peripherals>>On-Chip IDE Config.
Set like below (taken from Maesus FAQ)
    Quote
    For Native Mode:
ATA Configuration: SATA Only or PATA only, depending on which you want to be the FIRST BOOT device! (In your case use SATA Only)
S-ATA Keep Enabled: Yes if you chose PATA only
P-ATA Keep Enabled: Yes if you chose SATA Only
    PATA Channel Selection: Both
Combined Mode Operation: PATA First/SATA First, depending on which you want to act as 1st Channel.
S-ATA Ports Definition: - P0-1st/P1-2nd or P0-3rd/P1-4th, depending on which you want to act as Master. (Use the P0-1st/P1-2nd for your case)
Q: What is S-ATA Ports Definition?
There are two options: P0-1st/P1-2nd and P0-3rd/P1-4th. If you choose P0-1st/P1-2nd, your Port-0 S-ATA (SER-1) will become the 1st IDE Master, ie IDE-1 Master. and Port-1 S-ATA (SER-2) will become 2nd IDE Master. If you plan to boot with SATA HDD, it's recommended to set to P0-1st/P1-2nd. If you plan to boot with PATA HDD, it's recommended to set to P0-3rd/P1-4th.
Then save the Bios and re-boot back into BIOS.
Go to BIOS>>Advanced features>>Boot Device Select and make sure the new SATA drive is in the list and where you want it (most people put after the floppy & CD/DVD drives).
If the above doesn't work, try the same settings above with ATA Configuration set to "PATA Only".
Don't worry if some settings above are greyed out. Changing any options causes others to be unavailable in some cases. Again remember to check the "Boot Device Select" menu after changing the IDE Config menu.
Make sure you read the FAQ from the link I posted above. Lots of good info you needed there; specifically the section on HDD's.

  • P55-CD53, how to install SATA AHCI drivers and Matrix Storage Manager?

Please excuse my noobness as this is for my first PC build and much of it is Greek to me, but could someone please inform/educate me as to what the following drivers (link) are for and which need to be installed after a fresh installation of Windows 7 Pro x64? Do I need to install all of them because some of these appear to be redundant, just from different manufacturers, or am I mistaken? I have a single 500GB HDD but will probably add more down the road.

On a side note, I have already flashed the BIOS to 1.4 using the Forum USB Flashing Tool (thanks!).

    Thanks.
After booting from the Windows 7 disc, I selected Repair Windows, Load Drivers. Which specific controllers do I need to install for the P55-CD53 MB since there are multiple controllers listed for each of the four SATA compressed files?
Considering the multiple files and multiple controllers, is there no one out there with a P55-CD53 that has AHCI mode enabled that can give dumbed down instructions on how to do so?
The manual states "Select the appropriate RAID controller and press enter." Well... which one is the appropriate controller? Am I suppose to load the driver for all the AHCI controllers if that's even possible?
For the Intel P55 AHCI / RAID Drivers compressed file, these are the controllers available within F6flpy64\iaAHCI.inf:
    Intel(R) ESB2 SATA AHCI Controller
Intel(R) ICH 10D/DO SATA AHCI Controller
    Intel(R) ICH10R SATA AHCI Controller
    Intel(R) ICH7M/MDH SATA AHCI Controller
    Intel(R) ICH7R/DH SATA AHCI Controller
    Intel(R) ICH8M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller
    Intel(R) ICH8R/DH/DO SATA AHCI Controller
    Intel(R) ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller
    Intel(R) ICH9R/DO/DH SATA AHCI Controller
    Intel(R) PCH SATA AHCI Controller
Intel(R) PCHM SATA AHCI Controller 4 Port
Intel(R) PCHM SATA AHCI Controller 6 Port
Also, regarding the dual BIOS controls for SATA/IDE/RAID settings previously mentioned, I believe SATA ports 1-6 are controlled via Intel and 7,8 are controlled via Jmicron. Considering my HDD is currently plugged into SATA 1, Jmicron probably isn't necessary for the moment.
    Edit:
Turns out that none of the drivers for the controllers listed in iaAHCI.inf could be installed. However, I went ahead and installed the drivers listed for all the controllers in iaStor.inf. I reinstalled Windows 7 to get rid of the BSOD. I then installed the chipset drivers and Intel Matrix Storage Manager.

  • SATA controller on K7N2G-ILSR "supports IDE"

I have a K7N2G-ILSR with the onboard Promise 20376 Serial ATA controller, which supposedly supports using the IDE3 port as a separate IDE channel to connect hard drives and CDRoms and whatnot. I have not been able to simply get the SATA controller to work with IDE. I have tried connecting a hard drive and optical drives. With the single hard drive, instead of simply booting like it should, it tells me that no array is defined and asks me to create one. Since I have data on the hard drive already and don't want to risk erasing it by "creating an array", I didn't push my luck. With optical drives, it is the same story, except that of course I can't create an array with an optical drive, even if I try (nor does the setup utility let me). I am also thinking about purchasing a SATA adaptor for the hard drive, but am afraid that it is going to ask me to create an array again (again, fear of losing data). So, how do I get the IDE3 port to work as advertised? And how would I get the SATA working in a non-RAID configuration?

    They don't advertise that...
    On-Board IDE
An IDE controller on the MCP2/MCP2-T chipset provides IDE
HDD/CDROM with PIO, Bus Master and Ultra DMA133/100/66
       operation modes
Can connect up to four IDE devices
     Serial ATA Interface (Optional)
    Support 2 serial ATA plus 1 ATA133
    - RAID O or 1 are supported
    - RAID function works w/ATA133+SATA H/D or 2 SATA H/D
    • Connect up to 2 Serial ATA devices and 1 ATA133 device
This is from the website, I don't see that they say you can use the SATA as regular IDE drives...they are part of the raid controller period...the misconception comes by thinking it's used like we use a regular IDE but you have to create an array as I said in order to use them...you can select one of the raid drives to use as a boot drive via the BIOS but you have to enable the drive in the raid setup before it's accessible thus creating a seemingly IDE device...I don't have any SATA drives here atm so wasn't able to test this part of the MB yet...and I've beat my board into submission now and have to RMA it from doing so much testing with it...if I do get another one I'll see about getting a SATA drive and see what it does when I load the drivers for the raid in a non-raid setup and post my results...I agree that they don't explain it well either but I've never thought the manuals were written the best for most boards out there since English isn't their first language...something gets lost in the interpretation unfortunately heheheh The raid doesn't support opticals at all so that's not an option here...
    Hope that helps...
    Cheers!! 8)

  • F6 Option SATA controller

Hello,  I have 6 new 6427-CTO  D10   I ordered them with Dos to save Money.  Using the  F6 option to load the SATA driver for XP Pro 64bit,  There are about 10 controller drivers to choose from.  None seem to work, the system hangs on   Windows start up after the initial F6 is done  and then blue screens.
Basic question I guess does anyone know what controler is used  and or how to find out?
    Solved!

    welcome to the forum.
this thread may be of help.   you can download the XP x64 intel SATA RAID controller driver from lenovo or intel.   i would try the lenovo one first.
btw, you'll want to store the driver files in a specific folder and load them at boot using a USB flash drive.   you can also try disabling AHCI in the BIOS and installing the driver later.   it's up to you.
    hope that helps.

  • Z77A GD-65: Windows 7 not installing/running with Intel SATA controller.

I've been having some weird issues with the Intel SATA controllers on-board. They won't let me install Windows at all. I'm using a Crucial m4 with the 0309 firmware.
When I was trying to install Windows with the SSD connected to the Intel SATA controller, installation would always fail sometime around the "Completing Installation" segment. I tried ACHI mode, IDE mode, nothing worked.
So I decided to try hooking up my SSD to the ASMedia controller instead, despite that being advised against. Windows was able to install and run fine on that connection. After that, I installed all of Intel's chipset drivers and all the updates available for Windows, hoping it would resolve the problem.
Then, I connected the SSD to the Intel port again. Now I get a BSOD every time I try to start windows, even though it has drivers for the chipset available.
I'm really upset by this... it seems like I'm going to have to settle for inferior SATA 6 performance just so I can run Windows. :(

Quote from: Warner on 24-May-12, 03:58:56
You can't install OS with ASMEDIA port, and then switch to Intel port.
So basically, if I can't get it to install on the Intel port, I'm stuck using the other one... well, the performance isn't optimal, but I guess it's acceptable as a failsafe. Better than nothing.

Try doing a new installation based on the Intel port, load Intel driver on HDD screen, and proceed.
What Intel driver do I need, and how do I load it during Windows installation?

  • K8T Neo-FIS2R - P20378 Sata Controller option missing in BIOS. Cannot disable

A few hairs left....& those are disappearing quickly.......!!!!
I currently have Windows XP PRo running under a Promise SATA Drive. (NO RAID REQUIRED)
In order to allow for a fallback situation (which I am still using swapping between WIN XP & Vista),  I found a 20GB IDE Disk attached it to the standard IDE controller  & did a clean install of  VISTA ULTIMATE on the 20GB Drive...So Far so good.
Next I booted up changed the boot sequence to pickup the 20GB IDE drive first ...Vista Came up....Still so far so good.
Then I found my mouse ...& both USB printers were not recognised.....2 days later I have them all going okay....one problem at a time....
The only issue left ... I cannot see the SATA Drive attached to the promise controller.....I have tried following a few of suggested methods to load the promise drivers that are around......still no luck.  Most of the posts I see are around installing VISTA on a SATA drive...my case is just seeing a SATA drive this not the O/S disk.
Moving on ...no luck with the Promise Drives ...so I have tried changing to the VIA Controller by unplugging the SATA cord from the Promise controller & plugging into the VIA Controller ... I boot up & still no luck...The BIOS picks up the VIA change as I see a option to use  <TAB> to setup  RAID during bootup.. I do not want RAID only a single SATA Drive.  One of the things I read was to turn off Promise  via the BIOS settings . The manual indicates I need to access this by going to the "Onboard PCI Controller option", here I should be able to turn off the P20378 S.ata Controller...
my problem is ...I can see only the Lan Controller as a option to disable/ enable the other options including the P20378 S.ata Controller.. are not visible.. hence I am unable to disable the Promise SATA Controller within the BIOS..... HELP  pretty please.....   I can happily run VISTA but I do not have 150GB visible to me & my current disk space is tight.....I need that 150GB ...........
    signed...frustated NOOB
PS I have the most recent drivers/ bios etc according the MSI's Online S/W synch tool (which I run in XP Pro as the vista version fails.... DOH)
    MB --> K8T NEO FISR2
    Memory 1GB
    Appreciate your help ..... TA

I agree with Hans, as far as we know there are no drivers for Vista to use the Promise controller, yet.
Same old, same old, Vista and no drivers.
You just have to wait and hope there wil be Vista drivers for the Promise controller.

  • Where's Intel SATA controller gone?

    Hello all,
    Here's my system:
    Intel Pentium 4 C - 3.0 GHz
    MSI Mainboard - 875P NEO FIS2R (BIOS 1.9)
    1,024 MB DDR400 RAM (2 modules of 512 MB)
    ATI Radeon 9800 PRO
80.0 GB Seagate Barracuda UATA HDD (7200.2)
40.0 GB Western Digital UATA HDD (7200.2)
40.0 GB Seagate Barracuda UATA HDD on Promise RAID (7200.2)
    Creative SoundBlaster Live 5.1
    Cambridge SoundWorks 5.1 Surround
    Liteon DVD / LG CD-Writer
Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 1A)
    DirectX 9.0b
    ATI Drivers 3.10 Catalyst
As you can see that I haven't got a SATA hard drive and was thinking of getting one. But the problem is that I don't see the Intel SATA controller in Windows Device Manager as the manual states. Under "SCSI and RAID controllers" I have "WinXP Promise FastTrack 376/378" and under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" I see "Intel(R) 82801EB Ultra ATA Storage Controllers, Primary IDE Channel and Secondary IDE Channel". Also, I don't see any bootup BIOS for the Intel onboard controller. Is there some setting in the BIOS that turns on the Intel SATA controller? And oh, one more thing. I can't install the Intel Application Accelerator RAID Edition too. It exits displaying the following message "Incompatible hardware. This software is not supported on this chipset ... " I mean, is that software not designed for the 875P chipset ?
Now, I've read everywhere about SATA drives and am really thinking of getting one. I would just like to know what brand and capacity would be a good purchase. Thanks for all the help.
    Regards,
    Kamran

The SATA controller is transparent. It is the same controller used to deal with the drives on IDE1 and IDE2.
Read  P4 Neo Unofficial Guide for information on configuring for SATA drives, including raid.
The SATA drives are available in pretty much the same sizes as PATA drives, since they are pretty much all PATA drives with built in SATA/PATA convertors.

  • VIA SATA RAID Drivers

I lost the floppy disk containing the VIA SATA raid drivers for Windows Installation. My M/B is the KT600 FISR. So I kinda need the drivers as I am setting up a SATA drive.
Can someone please say where I can get the drivers, or email me the attached drivers.

I am worried my floppy drive controller or something on the motherboard is not working. I tried the floppy disk containing drivers and Windows Installer said still said "Please insert the manufactuer's disk", I took out the disc and got the same message.
Then I booted up Windows Installer with the same floppy disk in a different MSI motherboard (a P4 mobo I have) and it detected the drivers fine.
Tried all the updated drivers you specified, and the floppy drive reads fine from Windows and is brand new (same problem with old one which I replaced only to find the same problem :
The mobo is still under warranty, should I give MSI / dabs.com a call?

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum & ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe SATA controller prob

Recently I have been in the process of reinstalling my rig onto a new 50GB Raptor since my current installation has seen better days. Unfortunately, it seems that one of the problems has not gone away with the new install. Maybe the updated drivers are a case of the cure being worse than the disease but whatever the reason, the problem is extremely irritating.
Whenever I try to do any of the following, and any SATA dri've is "thinking", I seem to get fizzing or popping noises in sync with the HDD activity light on my case, only when an SATA dri've is "thinking" or being accessed. ?
Using any EAX Advanced HD effects like Environments<
    Using CMSS 2<
Invoking the onboard Dolby Digital or DTS Decoder (i.e. using SPDIF setting in Power DVD so DD or DTS signals get upmixed to 6. rather than rely on the software decoder)<
Playing a DVD Audio Disc at full 24/96 setting<
Playing any Fruity Loops mix using the ASIO 24/96 setting with lowest latency<
or any combination of the above at a time.
This problem is even more blatant when invoking a virus or spyware scanner like Windows Defender. When I previoulsy had my IDE 60GB Hard disk connected and I am currently using a USB 2.0 WD MyBook ES Edition and whenever these dri'ves are being accessed or written to, no noise is apparent. When I used this sound card on my really old rig with IDE hard disk I had no popping or fizzing noises unless the system was under an incredible amount of strain! ?
This problem didnt seem to occur so much when using the drivers supplied with the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum. However this problem worsened once I went on Creatives Auto Update and got the latest drivers that they suggested, along with the Audio Console and stuff. ?
It sounds to me like my SATA controller (some brand called Silicon, its built into the Asus Motherboard) is interferring with my sound card and/or the drivers.
Can anyone shed light on the situation please!!
My PC spec is as follows:
    AMD Athlon XP 3200+
    Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe ?
    2GB DDR RAM PC3200
    Radeon X600 PRO 52MB
320GB WD SATA Hard Disk & 500GB WD MyBook ES

    Fabrizziov,
Is the sound muffled and distorted when you plug headphones into the headphone out on the platinum dri've? If not, plug the headphones into the sound card's front output and run a speaker test to see if it is muffled and distorted from there. If it is then it is most likely a problem with the card's hardware. If this is the case I would suggest exchanging it for another through your retailer. You can also contact support for a repair if needed. Their contact information is at http://us.creative.com/support/custsup.

  • M93P and use of 2 HDD Controller | add additional SATA Controller

    Hello,
Has anyone added a second HDD SATA controller to their ThnikCentre M93/p , my is a mini tower, to add SATA HDD ports to their setup. I have try to add a Marvell 88SE9230 based RAID HDD Controller as a second controller, but was not recognized.
    Thanks for your help.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I just added a 2-port PCIe SATA controller, Syba SI-PEX40061, to my M93p.  Windows 7 recognized it and automatically installed drivers, and I subsequently installed updated drivers.  It's based on Marvell 88SE9120 Chipset.  When a HDD is attached, prior to boot, Win 7 hangs.  If a HDD is connected after Win 7 has booted, it causes BSOD. Lenovo BIOS is setup for AHCI by default and I set it to allow legacy BIOS support, and the controller has AHCI by default.  Still can't get controller to work.  HAS ANYONE HAD LUCK WITH AN ADD-ON SATA CONTROLLER?

  • POST beeping & SATA controller/drive problem

There're 3 beeps before POST. Every mobo i used beeped once before POST, this one does 3.
    http://www23.brinkster.com/fayebo/POST.wav
    Is this normal ?

    Thanks, i'll try that.
One more question. I try installing World Of Warcraft to my SATA drive but it gives errors on random, can't read etc. You know those silly blizzard installers try to read from the target file to compare it with the source file, and it does that for every file making the installation last very long.
However it's fine to install to an IDE drive. Do you think the problem is the drivers or the drive itself ?
EDIT: It gave the error again after I installed the latest drivers for the mainboard. The controller's name is changed btw, AMD PCI IDE Controller and AMD SATA Controller (Native IDE Mode), they were different with the drivers from the CD.

  • How fast is SATA controller in Portege R830?

    Hi,
I recently started to look for a SSD drive to improve my laptop's performance.
How fast is SATA controller in R830 - 3 or 6Gbps?
Is there any list of compatible devices?
    Thanks!
    R.

I just finally found some extra money I purchased OCZ Agility 3 240GB SSD.
And frankly speaking I'm a little disappointed.
Althoguh it's nice to boot up in 10-12s, I hardly see improvements in speed and access time.
I did all the tricks to improve SSD performance (installed latest Intel Rapid Storage drivers, disabled windows search, prefetch and defrag) and so far I see just a small differences in startup of Outlook and Live Mail programs. IE and other Office apps start almost in the same time - even Skype seems to be same responsive as with HDD.
    My final thoughts are:
    1. Toshiba *did really bad thing* not utilizing SATA III ports in Intel's controller (QM67 offers by default 3 and 6Gbps interfaces). I wouldn't be surprised with such thing in cheap Satellite models ... but hey guys - it's Portege! It should be no-compromise business laptop! Why performance of my SSD has to be limited to its 50-60%?!
    2. Default Hitachi 500Gig HDD is not that bad - I would even it's not much worse than SSD (really!)
    3. I'm happy that I didn't bought top-end model from Intel/Samsung/Crucial - I'd be even more disappointed.

  • ULi SATA Controller M1573 On Win XP Unattended

    Hello all,
Some time ago, before I did Win's monthly reïnstall I got the idea of preparing an unattended setup since these reïnstalls aways take so damn long
    to recover from.
Anyway, I delved myself into the subject and sort of hit a wall when it came to integrating the SATA driver. After alot of googling and messing
about with the various files (txtsetup.sif, txtsetup.oem, winnt.sif) I finally got it to working correctly.
However, this was some time ago. And now i'm trying to do the same but I lost nearly all the setupfiles and the iso, and i can't remember for the life
of me how i managed to get it to work.
At the moment I'm using what looks to me like the most straight-forward method.
Create an Unattended Installation of Third-Party Mass Storage Drivers in Windows Server 2003
I have searched the same site for the same subject relevant to XP but didn't find anything. And since the discription of the Sata Driver states
Windows XP/Server 2003 i figured this would be the same.
And thus I have prepared the relevant files & folders as the following:
    xpcd
      |- i386
      |    | - m5287.sys
      |    | - TXTSETUP.sif
      |    | - winnt.sif
      |
      |- $OEM$
      |    |- Disk1
      |    |- TXTSETUP.OEM
      |    |     |- TEXTMODE
      |    |     |- m5287.sys
      |    |     |- ulisata.cat
      |    |     |- ULISATA.INF
    TEXTSETUP.OEM:
    no changes
    TXTSETUP.sif:
    no changes
    winnt.sif:
    added the following entries:
    [Unattended]
        OemPreinstall=Yes
    [MassStorageDrivers]
        "ULi SATA Controller (M1573, Windows XP/Server 2003)" = "OEM"
"IDE CD-ROM (ATAPI 1.2)/PCI IDE Controller" = "RETAIL"
    [OEMBootFiles]
        ulisata.cat
        ULISATA.INF
        m5287.sys
    Details:
    Mobo is MSI RD480 Neo2
SATA driver is ULi SATA Controller M1573 (32bit)
The OS that i'm trying to integrate this driver with is Windows XP Pro SP3
Also I use a virtual PC to test the setup, makes life easier and saves me some hair. So after this all is done I make the iso and boot the pc with from
the iso, and during the loading of driver files I get the following error:
"File txtsetup.oem caused an unexpected error (18) at line 1742 in d:\xpsp1\base\boot\setup\oemdisk.c"
can someone help me get this straightened out?

@Stu: could you update your post, as it contains a few broken links.
    MSFN Guide: http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/
The XpCreate link might be broken, tough it seemed to me the site was down (tried the link on msfn forums aswell).
Thanks for the heads up; I've edited the MSFN link, and removed the XPCreate link, as it is no longer available.
