SATA Error message

Need a little help with a cranky SATA drive...
I have a KT4 Ultra with an Athalon XP 1800. Trying to install WinXP Pro on a Hytachi SATA 80 gig drive.
Pop in the CD, hit F6, when prompted, hit S to specify additional driver, pop in the floppy, choose XP, and get the following error message:
' File \winxp\fastx2k.sys caused an unexpected error (18) at line 2108 in d:\xpclient\base\boot\setup\oemdisk.c.'
I'm pretty much clueless on where to go from here. Any help you can provide would be very much appreciated.

1) Yes. Well, I think so. I let it automatically config the array, since I wasn't sure that you could do an array of 1. If there is anything I need to specifically check, please let me know.
2) huh?
3) ok.
Thanks again for your help

Airport Express- No internet connection. I am getting the following error messages- No DNS Server and Double SAT.  Can anyone walk me through a fix

Try putting these numbers in Network>TCP/IP>DNS Servers, for the Interface you connect with...
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    Then Apply. For 10.5/10.6 Network, highlight Interface>Advanced button>DNS tab>little + icon.
Might also put them in the Airport Express, no idea what Double SAT is!?

  • Sat Pro A200 - Error message on startup. code: 0 x 2

I have a Satellite Pro A 200 running Windows XP.
On startup I get an error message " A fatal error has occurred. This program will be terminated. code: 0 x 2 "
I just close the box and continue but I would like to know what is causing this message and how I can stop it.
    Can anyone help ?

Huh that can be problematic. You can try to remove preinstalled application from the system but if you try to reinstall it I think this will not help at all.
Long time ago I had similar problem. Something was screwed up in the registry and repair was not possible. At the end I have reinstalled WXP recovery image and after doing this with factory settings everything was OK again.

  • All headphones give distorted, crackly sound. Sometimes no sound. Headphone jack broken? Apple expresslane support giving a "generic error" message whenever I try to send in for service...

As in the title. For a while the headphone jack is occasionally crackly when the jack moves around in the port. It finally died today when I plugged it in and all the audio is heavily distorted and sometimes cuts out completely. Whenever I try to set up a service with Apple I keep getting this error message:
We're sorry, but we are unable to complete your request at this time.
Please try again in a few minutes or start over now.
I can't get through to the Irish support phone number either, it keeps saying number not recognised. Is there any other way I can send my iphone in for service (closest genius bar is 500km away...)

    http://ww2.cs.fsu.edu/~rosentha/linux/2.6.26.5/docs/DocBook/libata/ch07.html#excatATAbusErr wrote:
ATA bus error means that data corruption occurred during transmission over ATA bus (SATA or PATA). This type of errors can be indicated by
ICRC or ABRT error as described in the section called “ATA/ATAPI device error (non-NCQ / non-CHECK CONDITION)”.
Controller-specific error completion with error information indicating transmission error.
On some controllers, command timeout. In this case, there may be a mechanism to determine that the timeout is due to transmission error.
Unknown/random errors, timeouts and all sorts of weirdities.
As described above, transmission errors can cause wide variety of symptoms ranging from device ICRC error to random device lockup, and, for many cases, there is no way to tell if an error condition is due to transmission error or not; therefore, it's necessary to employ some kind of heuristic when dealing with errors and timeouts. For example, encountering repetitive ABRT errors for known supported command is likely to indicate ATA bus error.
Once it's determined that ATA bus errors have possibly occurred, lowering ATA bus transmission speed is one of actions which may alleviate the problem.
I'd also add; make sure you have good backups when ATA errors are frequent

  • Why do I get an error message when trying to open PE 8.0 projects with PE9.0?

I am trying to open a project in PE 9.0 that I made with PE 8.0. Each time, and with different projects, I get this error message:
"Projects created with Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Premiere Elements are not compatible. Please use apropriate application to open this project."
I have never used Adobe Premiere Pro nor is in installed on my computer! I updated my PE 8.0 with the patch that came out last year.
My Operating System is Windows XP Pro, Service Pack  3, system specs are SATA 2 RAID 1 with dual 1 TB hard drives. 4 GB RAM. I have an Intel Core2  processor Q6600 (2.4 Ghz, 1066 FSB) with Quad Core technology and 8 MB cache, 4  GB DDR2 SDRAM at 800 MHz.
My hard drive has been defragmented and have 779 GB or 83 percent free space.

Can you create a test Project in PrE 9 and does that work. If so, close that Project and then Open it again in PrE 9.
It could be as simple as your PrE 8 Projects just not Opening in PrE 9. There is often forward compatibility, but not always. It is usually best to finish Projects in the version, in which they were started.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Error message: iTunes can't save to hard disk because disk not attached. (but it is)  Does this indicate a real problem?

iTunes regularly post an error message saying it can't save to the internal hard disk because the disk is not attached, even though the disk seems to be functioning normally.  Do these error messages indicate that there is a real problem with either iTunes or the disk?
    <Subject Edited by Host>

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can read it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return  three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
    12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • 0x0000007B error message after installing Portege R500 XP OEM Recovery CD

I have a R500 with 64 GB SSD and Vista preinstalled.
I try to downgrade Vista with a R500 XP Pro OEM Recovery CD.
Decompression to the SSD works fine - but during the first initial XP Pro boot I receive a blue screen with a 0x0000007B error message and some hints regarding virus infection?
    What causes this problem?

    Hi
In my knowledge the R500 supports an SATA HDD controller and you have to include the SATA driver into the Win XP CD using the nLite software.
The SATA driver is a part of the Intel Storage Manager which could be found on the Toshiba European driver page or on the Intel page.
By the way; check this forum and use the search option to find more threads regarding the Intel Storage Manager and how to use the nLite and to include the SATA driver.
Here are enough threads about this theme.
    Cheers

  • Error message with hard disk disabled

    Hey Guys,
I have a probem with my ultrabook. Few weeks back my laptop suddeny gave me problem and windows won't boot giving the following error message
I tried booting my windows through safe mode options, but nothing worked. I went to a computer technician and he told me that the problem is software not hardware related, and he suggested that reinstalling windows woud fix the problem. Concerned about my data, I asked him to retrieve my data from the hard disk which he was able to do. Later, I tried reinstalling windows 7 (through a bootable usb drive as my laptop does not have DVD/CD Drive). When I was reinstalling windows, it showed no hard disk availabe and asked to load drivers.
At the startup when i press the power button, there was a black screen (one where you need to press Ctrl+I in order to go into configuration utiity, sorry that relevant image of that screen is not with me)showing the hard disk availabe of approx. 30gb . So, I press Ctrl+I to go into configuration utility and reset that 30gb hard disk to Non-Raid drive, and during windows installation this 30gb was available to me for use. But, my concern was that my laptop has two hard drive 500gb (SATA) + 32 gb (SSD, if i am correct). So i guess after resetting the 30gb hard disk to non-raid disk, I got access to it ( but I am not sure if this is correct, really sorry if my technical acumen is of annoyance), but not to the 500gb.
I figured there might be connection probem of 500gb hard disk, so I opened it up and found that the technician hadn't connected the hard disk with the motherboard, and had placed it upside down. So, I made the connection and tried to start the laptop, and got this message.
Here, you can see that it says hard disk is disabled. And when I don't press any key then I get this screen..
I also ran the hp system diagnostic check, and my hard disk passed for both smart and extensive check. So, I believe that my hard disk is fine. And when I press Ctrl+I, i can't do anything with this hard disk, not even reset it since it says it is disabled.
I went through many posts trying to find something similar to my problem, but found nothing to any avail. I would be grateful, if anyone could help me out.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi @prateek88 ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
It is a terrific place to find answers and tips!
For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More
I grasp that you got a blue screen error on your notebook. You took it to a technician and he informed you it not hardware but software.  He did retrieve your data off the 500 GB hard drive.
As your notebook has two hard drives a 32 GB SSD and the 500 GB SATA.  You disabled the raid configuration and were able to access the SSD.
Were you able to complete the installation of Windows?
If you have  Windows installed and have corrected the connection issue with the 500 GB drive would you try this.
Raid configurations are beyond my support bounds just so you are aware.
Reconfigure it back to the original raid.
Try restoring the defaults from the bios screen.
Check for a bios update for your system. and install if applicable.

Share on facebook Share on twitter Share on email Share on print More Sharing Services 2  Hi folks.  Just purchased a new wireless cable modem/router from Telstra (Gateway Max - Netgear C6300BD-1TLAUS).  I've just noticed the following messages in the Event Log.  Is there something wrong and, if so, what's causing it? TimePriorityDescription Sun Jun 21 13:34:47 2015   Error (4)  DHCP RENEW WARNING - Field invalid in response v4 option;CM-MAC=25:2a:8c:de:74:e8;CMTS-MAC=00:00:84:a0:1b:54;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;  Sun Jun 21 11:44:19 2015   Critical (3)  Started Unicast Maintenance Ranging - No Response received - T3 time-out;CM-MAC=25:2a:8c:de:74:e8;CMTS-MAC=00:00:84:a0:1b:54;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;  Sun Jun 21 09:34:47 2015   Error (4)  DHCP RENEW WARNING - Field invalid in response v4 option;CM-MAC=25:2a:8c:de:74:e8;CMTS-MAC=00:00:84:a0:1b:54;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;  Sun Jun 21 04:46:49 2015   Critical (3)  Started Unicast Maintenance Ranging - No Response received - T3 time-out;CM-MAC=25:2a:8c:de:74:e8;CMTS-MAC=00:00:84:a0:1b:54;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;  Sun Jun 21 01:34:47 2015   Error (4)  DHCP RENEW WARNING - Field invalid in response v4 option;CM-MAC=25:2a:8c:de:74:e8;CMTS-MAC=00:00:84:a0:1b:54;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;  Sat Jun 20 16:12:38 2015   Critical (3)  Started Unicast Maintenance Ranging - No Response received - T3 time-out;CM-MAC=25:2a:8c:de:74:e8;CMTS-MAC=00:00:84:a0:1b:54;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;  Sat Jun 20 13:34:47 2015   Error (4)  DHCP RENEW WARNING - Field invalid in response v4 option;CM-MAC=25:2a:8c:de:74:e8;CMTS-MAC=00:00:84:a0:1b:54;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;  This is just a sample of the log file - it's much longer than this.  Appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks.NOTE:  MAC addresses above have been changed )...just to be safe. :-)

Hi Turbo, have u called and what was the response, if any? I have exactly the same error messages and my connection drops out every 24 to 48 hours without fail. Windows's Event Viewer and Intel's ProSet Diagnosis confirms that the computer was NOT being assigned an IP address. Setting a Static IP on the Local Machine does not help either. I have called them and they wanted to send out a tech. I refused because it seems very much to me that this is a software issue, either with the affected computer or with the Gateway's firmware. Doesn't sound like hardware or the pit in the street. The technician would have come and Telstra would have charged me for the visit I felt. Fred

  • Toshiba PX1267E-1G32 Ext HD Error Message says USB device has malfunctioned

    Hi
I have Windows XP and have been using my Toshiba External HD for a few years.
    I am a novice.
Suddenly yesterday the below message appeared and I cannot get any computer to recognise the device.
    "+USB Device Not Recognized+
+One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognise it. For assisstance in solving this problem click this message+."
I've tried to reinstall the drivers from the internet & the HDD CD but the same message occurs.
I've installed it onto another computer and the same error message.
The device still makes a noise and the blue light is on but no other action.
Is there anything I can easily do?
    Many thanks in anticipation

    > I thought that sort of stuff wasn't meant to happen to external drives....
Why not? The external HDD is the same like an internal notebook HDD which dies as well
    > Any other suggestions welcome
    I assume this is a 3.5 HDD
You could remove this HDD from the HDD case and could connect this HDD directly to an desktop PC using an IDE or SATA cable (Im not sure if this is an SATA or IDE HDD).
If the BIOS would recognize the HDD then you would have good chances to get access to the data stored on this HDD.
