SATA ,PATA setup help plz.

i need help with configuring the setup for my system ....and not with promise controller (it gives me trouble) intels controller ...and i want to install XP on my first PATA , and use the rest for storage ... i have tried it .. first time it found the drive .. but as a standard drive (the SATA hd)
IDE 2 CDRW
IDE 1 IBM 60 PATA (master) WDC 160gb PATA (slave)
SATA disk (wherever you guys say it should be)
so plz anyone try to help me out here ?
i got strange trouble with promise controller .somethings messes things up so partitions dissapear in other drives , cant move files (cant read files CRC failure)
and such things, the name on the SATA drive also messes up when i use the promise controller (some conflicts maby?)

Need help with Sata Pata setup PLEASE

I am running a MSI 6728 (865 chipset) Windows XP SP2
I want to run 2 SATA drive booting from 1 of them, not interested ib RAID right now.
Also I want to run 2 PATA on IDE1 and I PATA HD and DVD on IDE2.
Sure could use some help configuring this.
I can get all the drives to so up at boot, they show up ad unallocated in the disk managment area. They do not show up at all in "My Computer"
All of these drives are formated and contain data.
Any and all help will be appreciated.

Not seeing SATA HD, quick help plz

hello all. thnx in advance for help. desperate here. was having an issue. formatted. was doing alright. installed XP Pro. rebooted. installed a few things. rebooted a few times. this last time i rebooted, the bios does not see my WD Raptor 36GB HD. does not see it on SATA 1 thru 4. but will see it on SATA 5 and 6. tries to boot, but restarts and then tries again. last thing i did before this problem started was install nTune and was running one of the things it has. it stalled. hot booted and now here i am. i have everything else unplugged but the A drive, raptor hd and the dvdrw. i just flased the bios and still nothing. here are my components:
K8N Neo4 Platinum SLi
MSI GEForce 6600GT 128 SLi vid card
1 X WD Raptor 36GB HD
3 X 200GB WD 8MB
1 x LiteOn DVDRW

I just recently bought an 875pe NEOFIS2R
& 2 WD raptor's..
Since my case is almost entirely see-through,
i like to hide every cable
But i read through my manual,and there was this
little chapter that said : "please do not
fold the sata cable in a 90-degree angle"
(or something like that)
sorry if this sounds stupid,
but are you really not allowed to bend the cables ?
I can't imagine you're forced to
let them just run through your case
in a straight line..

You may actualy fold it a bit, as long as it is not 90 degrees.
The problem is that folding the cables very sharply causes data loss or corruption, it is like in audio equipment.
When you wrap everything together you will likely end up with a humming sound.
Just be carefull not to exagerate.
I do in fact like a few cables running around, it looks more "interesting".
But my concerns are not if it is a pretty sight, but mainly because I don't want to obstruct the airflow in the case and more important, I hate it when cables are running close to fans, they might get stuck in the fans.

Cs4 in design page setup help cm, mm, inches change

hi all
i dont know if i am being totally stupid but whaen i go to start up an new document in indesign cs4 i can sem to change my page dimension option to cm, inches or mm it comes up like - 51p0 x 66p0 etc
can someone tell me how to change this so i can make my pages in mm, cm or inches?

With no files open, edit your preferences and change units to inches.
That said, InDesign will convert units so if you type 11 in, even though the document uses picas, it will convert the inches to picas for you.

STEP ONE: Registering your email address and creating a backup
Open BlackBerry Messenger

Select Back Up

SATA / PATA Drive Detection Issues

I have my SATA hard disk on the primary (0) SATA channel and my DVD-RW on the primary PATA channel. This has worked fine since I've had this set up, but I've recently run into some trouble with it.
I hooked up a PATA hard drive in place of the DVD-RW to pull some data off it. When I tried to boot, it only detected the new drive and couldn't boot from it (Win 2000 blue screen). It didn't even see the original hard drive.
I messed around with the various modes under "On-chip IDE Configuration" and no matter what I do I cannot get it to detect 2 devices at once. There doesn't seem to be any consistency to the results it produces.
I have updated to the latest BIOS (2.2).
Firstly, why can you select SATA / PATA Only, and then keep the other enabled? What is the best setting for my two drives? I originally had it set to PATA Only and keep SATA enabled I think (on advice from people on this board).
If i'm not using RAID, I can disable "Onboard Promise IDE" right?

The most likely reasons for the SATA to not be detected in the Standard Cmos in the order I would check them:
1. Data and power cables firmly connected(remove and re-attach to be sure).
2. Bios>>Integrated Peripherals>>On Chip IDE Config:
- SATA Keep enabled-Yes
- Configured as Raid- NO (Yes removes it from the Standard CMOS Features)
3. Drive no good
Make sure you have other IDE HDD's removed till you get this working again.
And yes, if you have nothing attached to Serial3&4, IDE3 you can set the Promise controller to Disabled.
