SATA settings change in BIOS

The SATA Enabled BIOS settings on the 865PE NEO2 I am working on keep changing themselves back to no.  I can set the setting to yes and the computer will boot fine, but after shutting the computer down for a while the settings change back to no.  I have tried a new CMOS battery and a different hdd with no luck.
Please help

I have no idea what you're trying to say. Please go through all these:  Moan Guide P4 Neo Unofficial Guide
Good luck.

  • Sata settings by flashing bios

Our company sets up bios settings by flashing preconfigured bios image.
However with MS-7181 ver 2.0 boards the onchip sata controller setting does not get set.
I have tried with 2 different bios flash utilities, CMOSsave/CMOSrest and MSI:s awfl859g.
Bios image is read ok and written ok, but does not affect the "onchip sata controller" setting.
Other bios settings gets set as saved in image file.
So how do I disable sata controller without entering bios and disabling it by hand?

Why don't you try and set it several times each day (on different machines)
Well at least that setting doesn't get reset when bios is flashed.
Oh and forgot to mention that awfl859g demanded switch /f to function, otherwise it would say that bios is write-protected (no jumper or bios setting to disable).
"Well at least that setting doesn't get reset when bios is flashed."
    Clear CMOS via mainboard jumper.
"Why don't you try and set it several times each day (on different machines) "
    it will take several seconds..

  • Can't boot if SATA Config changed from IDE to RAID

My goal is to create a non-bootable RAID1 mirror with two 320GB extra disks (plugged into SATA 5&6).  The boot disk is a Corsair 120MB SSD.  The manual that came with the A75A-G55 board says to use raid, first change the SATA Configuration from IDE (the default) to RAID.
Once the RAID selection is made, a new option for Legacy ROM or UEFI Driver shows up.  I left the choice at Legacy ROM.  Saved settings and exited.  During the reset then something new pops up quickly having to do, I suppose with the RAID config, then the regular POST pops through, but then can't boot to Windows.
When I went back to change the BIOS SATA Config back to IDE, I noticed that none of the SATA ports show drives.  After setting the SATA config back to IDE, everything seems to go back to normal.  I must be missing something significant, but the instructions in the manual that came with the board are pretty simple.  On the other hand, the manual doesn't say anthing at all about the SATA configuration options.
I checked the RAID FAQ, but it seems to be oriented to NVIDIA.  Nothing there about AMD raid that I could see and no mention of bios settings that looked like this.  I have come across mention of an AMD raid manager software (RAIDXpert?) in some other browsing.  Should I get that and use it, or will I still have to straighten out this IDE/RAID thing first?
    Thank you for your help,
    John

As far as I can tell, the A75A-G55 does not support RAID with WindowsXP no matter what the chips are and sales literature says.  I've been running around with this too long and still have nothing to show for it.
If anyone has actually been successful with installing a "data" RAID (not a boot disk) on this motherboard I'm all ears, but I don't think such a critter exists.
Here is what I've done tonight.
Set BIOS to RAID, Legacy ROM, save & exit
Cntl-F to enter Option ROM utility
All drives show up, use the utility to create an LD named FamRm_Array from two 320GB drives, save and reboot.
    Windows doesn't boot, resets
    Del key to enter bios
Main tab shows no SATA drives - all are "Not Present"
Boot tab shows boot option for hard disk as "Hard Disk: FamRm_Array"
(no sign of the Corsair boot disk)
Advanced tab - selected SATA Mode - IDE, save & exit
Got the "Windows didn't start last time" screen, selected "start normally" and Windows came up OK.
Checked the status of the disks with Disk Manager and both 320GB disks show up individually as unallocated, no indication of an array.
Tried again with reboot, selected RAID in bios, save & exit
F11 to enter boot menu - both the Corsair and FamRm_Array are options.  Picked Corsair.
    Can't boot to windows, reset
Cntl-F to option ROM, array still configured OK, escape and reset
Del to BIOS again - No SATA disks shown, boot tab shows Hard disk:FamRm_Array
F11 to boot menu again, pick Corsair again.
    Still can't boot
Del to bios again, boot tab still shows HardDisk:FamRm_Array, no sign of Corsair as any option or priority.
Changed back to SATA Mode IDE, Windows boots fine.
Giving up on a disk array with this board and software.  Either it just doesn't work, or the process required is so mysterious and undocumented that the effect is the same - doesn't work.
I'll check back a few times over the next few days to see if anyone points out a major flaw in what I did, but I have no real hope it will ever work.

  • What to change in bios with MSI 875p

I'm wondering what the key things are to change in bios for non-overclocking best performance/stability. I've been having a lot of problems booting up:

In fact I can't even start the computer. I've ordered a new graphics card (i've swapped out everything but that)and I want to set the bios right on first boot since I might not be able to get back to them. In particular, what are good settings for my ram (i.e. voltage, etc.)

    Hi Amit,
I still ask you which product of NW ? (like PI,EP,BI)
For PI there are seperate set of steps you need to carry for  changes in client.
Any other product i think that should be ok. Please refer installation guide and specific post installation sections.

  • SATA settings, 865PE Neo-3 LGA 775

Okay, I'm trying to set up a friends computer and I can't get the darn thing to start working.  Everything's powered correctly and all that.  I seem to remember (when setting up a the same mobo a year or so ago) that I had to adjust some settings in the BIOS for it to recognize the SATA drive.  I switched the settings to for it to look for SATA and PATA and all that, but for some reason it still won't recognize the SATA drive plugged in to the SATA1 port.  Also, the CD/DVD combo drive in it just comes up as IDE drive when choosing the boot order and theres a 3 1/2" floppy drive selection but there isn't a floppy drive installed?
Any help on what settings I need to adjust from the default ones on this board to get it to recognize SATA.  TIA.

Is this a new (SATA2) drive ? if so, you need to jumper it for SATA1 mode operation - 865PE does not support SATA2

The option should dissapear once you disable the Floppy drive controller in the integrated perhipials menu.

  • Sata/Ide Conflict In Bios

    Hi all;
I'm a noob and doing this at work so bear with me a moment.  I have a new computer with a MSI-7103 mobo, with award bios 6.0P I believe.  I'm adding an IDE drive from the old computer as a second drive.  The 80gb sata drive is on the sata 1 pin on the mobo.  IDE1 has a cdrom drive master and DVD drive slave with nothing on IDE2.  I put the old drive on IDE2 and left the jumper on CS.
In short it won't boot after POST.  No matter what I do it detects the IDE drive before the sata drive and just sit's there.  I reformatted the IDE drive before install so there is no operating system or anything else on the drive.  Without the IDE drive connected it boots normally into winxp Pro.  I can plug the ide drive in with windows running, scan for new hardware and it finds the IDE drive and works well...It's just that I can't boot with the IDE drive installed.
In bios, the boot sequence is FD1, IDE0, CDROM...I don't see any option for the sata drive.  Is the sata drive considered as being IDE0??  I also tried disabling the IDE2 in bios hoping that it would boot and the operating system would then find the drive.  It boots into XP but no dice on the OS finding the drive in that case.
IF it's a jumper issue on the IDE drive...since it's on CS now should I try putting it to master or slave and trying it again??  I have done some searching on the net and it appears that this is sort of a common problem with IDE/Sata conflicts but there doesn't seem to be any one answer.  Any pointers would be very appreciated.
Also, a seperate problem but I'll tack this on here.  I have a devil of a time of getting into bios.  Sometimes I will have to try booting 10 times or more before the mobo will see the delete key and let me in bios.  I have tried switching keyboards so I know that's not it.  It will just post and then show the bios info, ect and when I hit delete the screen will just die and it will sit there.  Any ideas on that one??  Thanks for bearing with me and yes I am also busy using the search function of the forum.  Thanks much!!!!

....Ah life is never quite that simple is it??  Puters aren't either.    It's still not working.  I DL samsungs manual for the drive (sv6003H) just to make sure that I was setting the jumpers right and I was.  I set up the drive as the master in IDE 2.  The computer posts, detects the ide devices being the optical drives on IDE1 and correctly identifies the samsung drive in IDE2 and then just hangs at that point.  It never progresses past that state to see and try to boot from the sata drive.
My bios string is -sis-661fx-6a714m4JC-00 on the bottom of the screen and the standard string at the top of the screen is V7103SMS V7.1091505  Seems to me like it's got to be something bios related.  I did see from the live update that their is an updated bios for the machine but the update seems to just address a faulty temperature report for the cpu sensor.  For kicks and giggles I tried to reflash the bios using the windows option but it said it was unable to open a file so I just chickened out and stopped.  It's not worth a dead machine.
FWIW the samsung manual says that older bios might cause the computer to hang (which is what is happening) if there is no support for a hd above 32gb and there are special jumper settings in that case.  However the hd is from a 2003 compaq and the bios in this machine is 2005 so I can't believe that is the issue.  I did try the jumper settings both ways but no dice.  Any other ideas??  I can always plug the drive back in after windows has booted and then use it but there's got to be a way to get past the drive so windows boots normally off the sata drive.

  • Cannot Access BIOS or Boot Windows 8 After Changing UEFI BIOS to Legacy BIOS

    Acer V7-751, 500G HD, Windows 8.
I changed the BIOS settings from UEFI to Legacy BIOS when I was working on a problem. Now I can't even get into the BIOS (F2)
or change the Boot Order (F12). All I get is an error "Operating System not found". I can boot with a Win7, Win8, or Win8,1 DVD. I suppose I could boot with just about anything else bootable as well.
The problem seems to be caused because it's set to Legacy BIOS and Secure Boot Manager as default #1 boot device. Legacy BIOS
can't boot a Win8 drive that has been installed under UEFI (Secure Boot). I have to change the BIOS back to EUFI to boot the WIn8 drive, but the only way to change the BIOS is from within Win8. It's a very flawed way of doing things but it's the way it is.
Does anyone have any suggestions that they KNOW work. Please don't Google answers. I've already done that. And please (please)
don't tell me to power on and press "F2" (or any other key) to go into BIOS. If I could do that I wouldn't be posting.
Once again, I cannot get into the BIOS without going into Windows first. I cannot load Windows because the install was done
under UEFI. I cannot change from Legacy to UEFI because I can't get into the BIOS.

In this case, I flashed the BIOS with a newer version of the BIOS/Firmware and that returned everything to the Defaults (not Legacy BIOS). I believe you could also flash with the same version. I don't think you could flash with an earlier version, but no harm
in trying it. if you've flashed the BIOS previously, you may be able to restore the previous copy. It all depends on the manufacturer and how they handle flashing the BIOS.
I wasn't able to, but you may also be able to boot from a correctly formatted USB drive with another OS (Windows XP/Vista/7) because Legacy BIOS allows you to boot from external devices. Essentially, you need to be able to boot from a valid OS that is not on
the Hard Drive that was configured using the UEFI BIOS setting.
Please let me know if you have any more questions, and I'll do what I can to help. If this solves your problem, please mark my post as the answer. Thank you.

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • Someone has been able to get into my Game Center account and has hacked me, I've changed my password and everything but he still finds away to get into my account, he changes my bio and stuff and I don't know what to do, I need desperate help :(

I've been hacked and I changed my password but he still finds away to get into my Game Center and change my bio. I need serious help

Have you given your information to anyone?   Family, friend?
Did you have another device with Game Center on it?   Did you give a new owner of a device any passwords?
Do you share apple account with a family member?
Do you have a rescue email set up in your Apple account, with security questions?
I suggest you set up a new email account, write everything down and keep it in a safe place.
New email account and password. Not so easy that it can be hacked.
In your iTunes account on the computer. Login and change security questions, password and rescue email.
Again, make sure your password is not easy to guess.   Same with security questions.
Write it all down and keep it somewhere safe.
I recommend a password keeper called Enpass.   You can store 10 cards with user names, passwords, notes and account numbers in the free version.
Then you only have to remember one complicated password to open Enpass and retrieve your information.
If all else fails, contact apple support.

  • Security settings change when rendered from third party Windows 2008 R2 server

We created a fillable PDF form in Adobe Acrobat and made it Reader extended. Opening the form on a local hard drive the security settings show that Signing: is Allowed. We can sign documents in the form with a signature pad.
After we upload it to a third party Windows server 2008 R2, and we later go to access the form, the server renders it back to us in Adobe Reader. We are unable to digitally sign documents in the form with a Topaz signature pad. We notice that although the form was originally created with the form being Reader extended the security settings change to Signing: Not Allowed.
How can we get the server to render the document back to us where we can digitally sign documents in the form?

The second file still shows the extended rights header is present (it's warning you about restrictions at the top of the dialog while also reporting the method is "no security") but the digital signature which grants those extended rights will be invalidated if *anything* in the file structure is changed. I suspect in this case that the server software is doing something to your file; it may be trivial such as adding an XMP tag, but it's enough to break the hash check.

  • Help...Iphone 5c settings changed by themselves

I have an iPhone5c and today my settings changed automatically by themselves and when I have attempted to change them back they will not stick.
Specifically my battery percentage has disappeared and my message settings have changed as well. I had my settings to where there would be no message preview but now there is a preview and I am unable to change them back when I select those options. I change the setting back to how it was but then it reverts to how it automatically changed.
Can someone please assist me with how to fix this!? Aside from paying $30 or making an appointment, I was advised this was my only option.
    Thank you in advance!

Your profile says you are using IOS 8.0.2?
You can update to the latest IOS 8.1.1.
    As for settings not sticking:
Check if you have Restrictions set for those items.
Note: you need to enable Restriction to change/see what is set.

  • Sequence settings changed and digital cinema freezes. what now?

    hello there.
i'm a new fcp user and i could really use some help on some issues that came up while working on a film project.
the material was captured with the camera function of a digital still camera, which resulted in rushes of .avi format, 30 fps, 640X480 frame size.
we then converted these into .mov clips using quicktime and compressor so that we can work without the need to render. we encoded them using the Apple ProRes 422 codec.
i opened a NTSC project to work on this and have created a sequence preset having exactly the same settings as my clips (Apple ProRes 422, 30 fps, etc).
i'm cutting the whole project on a macbook pro (see details below) running fcp 6.0.3 and i'm using a second monitor toggling between browser and digital cinema desktop preview.
everything was working fine till yesterday, when suddently some sequences needed rendering (while they were working fine till then) and dcdp freezed (that is i get the first frame and i can hear the sound when i playback a clip or a sequence and then i get the current frame when i stop it).
i've checked the sequence settings and i've found out that all of my sequences are now pal, 720X576, 25 fps. that's the first part of the problem. i tried changing the sequence settings, but of course i cannot change the frame rate; i've tried creating a new sequence with the correct settings and then copy&paste the clips from the prev sequence but then video and audio go out of synch by 2 frames. how did my settings changed all of a sudden? is there a way to keep my edited sequences without the need to manually re-cut the whole thing?
as far as the second part of the problem is concerned (the dcdp not working anymore), i've tried changing my settings (going from full screen to raw, trying single frame against all frames, etc) but still it doesn't work. the rest of the settings are ok (eg. i've found in the forum that the checkbox about playback mirrored on the desktop should be ticked and it was already).
this computer is never conected to the internet and it has never been manually updated (so there is not a way that an OS update is not working well with fcp).
    any ideas?
    thanx,
    nikos.

I've experienced the exact same problems you are having and it's driving me nuts.
It's not like my system has changed. I bought the Mac Pro and Final Cut Studio together and all was well when I first installed it. That initial project was an HDV project and DCDP worked great.
Since then I'm working mostly on SD PAL projects and when I go to preview it on the desktop it does the first frame freeze when you hit play and parks on the current frame when you hit stop.
I can resize the main edit window to full size and the sequence plays back fine but when I go to DCDP it just won't play at all. It feels like a bug but this is the first time I have found someone else with the same problem. By the way, I'm only using one monitor so the mirror desktop thing made no difference.
I know the DCDP isn't great quality but it's fine for getting a general overview and I sure do miss it.
    Help us.......please......

  • Settings changing when adding to another movie

Each time I attach a new chapter (mini movie) PROJECT to the already existing main movie PROJECT the settings change. I have tried adding on the front with the new chapter as well as trying to add the main movie to the mini movie. Is there a way to lock all settings on a movie so when it is added to another movie the setting won't change oon either clip. The chapter movie is approximately 1 1/2 minutes long and the main clip is approximately 9 Minutes long. There are several transitions, and scrolls included in both clips.
    Message was edited by: jimfromdenver

Hi Luis, thanks for the reply. I first made a video approximately 8 minutes long. I used digitized video, still images, sound tracks, titles and numerous transitions between the clips. I then opened a new project and made a movie of one of the last letters sent home by the veteran prior to his death. I also used transitions, movie clips, titles and various images. So far I have three of these last letters completed. I was able to copy and pasted two of the letter clips in front of the main generic movie. However, when I attempted to paste the third clip at the beginning of the main movie and two letters - it causes some of the titles, scrolls to overlap.
