Satalite P300D: standby and turning off problem

I have a problem with especially the standby modus. When I close the laptop he is supposed to go to standby, and sometimes he just does that, but other times(especially if I do it two times after eachother) the ventilator will go on extremely loud and the screen will turn black and the only way to stop this is to push the on/off button until the laptop shuts off. Sometimes I have the same problem with shutting the laptop down.
I think it started right after installing windows 7, could it have something to do with that?

Hi mate
Well, this could be possible since the Win 7 supports a little bit different power management settings as well.
I recommend checking the BIOS.
You should update it if a newer version is available.
Furthermore you should install the Win 7 VAP (value added package) which can be downloaded from the Toshiba European driver page

  • Power consumption standby and turned off

    Hi there,
I tested the power consumption of my new Mac Pro with a watt meter while in standby mode and while turned off. In both tests I got nearly the same figures -around 35 watt.
Do you have these too or do I have a problem?
    Thanks guys,
    Mclane

In sleep my watt meter is reporting 3 watts.
If I have allow bluetooth device to wake up computer enabled in the bluetooth settings I the watt meter reports 5 watts during sleep.
    Not seeing anything when shutdown.
I have not got any usb or firewire devices connected.
Do you have any usb or firewire devices connected ?
According the the apple dev docs the Mac Pro provides power to the firewire ports during sleep and will also provide firewire power when shutdown if firewire devices were already connected.

  • When I try to open my Yahoo mail in safari, I get a message which states:" In order to use Yahoo mail, please turn Private Browsing off. Please go to Settings Safari Private Browsing, and turn off" The problem is my ipad does not a Private Browsing switch

When I try to open my Yahoo mail in safari, I get a message which states:" In order to use Yahoo mail, please turn Private Browsing off. Please go to Settings>Safari>Private Browsing, and turn off" The problem is, my ipad does not a Private Browsing switchat this location.

With iOS 7 on the iPad, you turn Private  Browsing on and off by tapping the URL field.  The screen that  opens up has your bookmarks on it.  In the bottom left corner is a hot button marked 'PRIVATE'.  Tap on the word 'PRIVATE' to turn private browsing on or off.  Yeah, there aren't any instructions anywhere that I can find to do this, and if you follow Yahoo's instructions, they don't work.  This doesn't happen with the previous Apple OS, and you can restore your iPad to the older OS.

Have you updated to the latest level of Keynote on your iPad? Keynote 2.0.1 (1075)  - Check Settings > Keynote
If so, there isn't much that you can do other than report this bug to Apple http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html
You could try restarting or resetting your iPad.
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).

  • My new iPad 3 doesn't seem to charge well. If it's plugged in and I'm using it, it doesn't seem to charge. It only charges well when it's plugged in and turned off.

My iPad 3 bettery life is very poor, and it doesn't chrage when it's plugged in and I'm using it, only when it's plugged in and turned off. I'm beginning to be sorry I bought this iPad and that I should have stuck with the iPad 2.

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. Okay, I figured it out.
I would clear the cache while the page was still being viewed in a window, and for some reason that didn't actually clear the cache. So that's the browser's being a good little browser, but it's annoying because it should clear everything.
iWeb also has a problem in that is tells pages to cache forever, so the browsers are only doing what they're told.
Close the window, clear the cache, good to go.

  • I'm trying to use a madcatz controller on the mac but it turns on for 2 seconds and turns off. the system profiler picks it up as a xbox 360 gamepad but says its not been configured. how can i allow my self use this with my games.

i'm trying to use a madcatz controller on the mac but it turns on for 2 seconds and turns off. the system profiler picks it up as a xbox 360 gamepad but says its not been configured. how can i allow my self use this with my games!

I have exactly the same problem.
I'm a little peed-off with Microsoft on this. The original wireless controller I have doesn't work either since the cable I'm using is 'just' the charge and play cable, so a direct connection to my Mac won't work with this cable. It's a cable for god's sake. Why on EARTH put any limitations on this!?!?
Next I learn I need an additional USB wireless receiver from Microsoft to get my original 360 controller to talk to my Mac. As I certainly don't want to fork any more microsoft dollars on this, this is not an option.
Next I think, yes! I have a MadCatz 360 wired USB controller. This should surely do the trick just plugging it in and the way I go. But oh no, for some reason I plug my MadCatz Xbox360 controller in, it flashes a few times then switches off and can't be turned on again.
The System Profiles recognizes it as a MadCatz 360 device controller but that is about it, but the ontroller software I download for the System Prefs (360Controller, USBOverdrive etc) don't even recognize the controller as being plugged in.
What the **** Is The Microsoft Deal with all of this!?!?
PS: Oh, and I forgot to mention, there are No drivers for device 4716 that I can find on the MadCatz website, or am I going blind?
If anyone has a link, it would be appreciated.

  • HT201263 dropped iphone4 in water and turned off by itself

dropped iphone4 in water and turned off by itself and now cant turn on, plugged it to itunes and was asking to restor, when i did restore it it would not turn on when i try to restart it was still the same and now keeps on asking to restore would not turn on any help.... please

You can try drying it out internally by wrapping the unit in a paper towel and putting it in a bag of dry, uncooked rice (or a bag of silica gel pellets, if you have access to those) for a few days. It's very probable that it's been permanently damaged, but it's possible that if you dry it out, it may then work. If after a few days in the bag it still has problems, then you'll need to pay to get it exchanged (by Apple) or repaired (by a third-party repair service, which voids any warranty).
    Good luck.

  • My iphone 4 turns off and on when ever i try to reboot and turn off each and every 5 second?

    hi there,
my iphone 4 turns off and on in each and every 5 seconds when ever i try to reboot and turn off. i was just trying to get ridge of this things. so culd u help me plz !!!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Crashing and freezing and turning off

all three keep happening on my new 24". it would sometimes freeze up when running multiple applications (aperture, iphoto, safari, mail..) simultaneously; i thought this would be resolved when i added another gig of RAM, which i did on friday. but it still freezes and i have to force shut down.
or when running vlc player it will suddenly give me a message saying "your computer needs to shut down" and i have to force it off.
or it will just turn off. this hasn't happened yet while i'm actually working on it -- and it hasn't happened since i added the RAM -- but sometimes when i leave the computer and come back it will just be off and i know i didn't turn it off. and i'm certain no one has used it in my absence.
what's going on? i upgraded from a 17" 1.8 ghz that ran on 1.5 gb RAM. it never had these problems. frustrated! are there any steps i can take to weed out what's happening? i don't want to call apple and have them tell me i have to take it back.
    thanks.

thanks for all the response --
i have had my iphone dock attached. i hopped on last night and the computer froze again -- the pattern for freezing seems to be when aperture is open, but i usually am working with aperture when i'm on the computer at all, so it's hard to tell for sure. i did detach the dock and turned off the computer for the night. (not sure how this would affect anything, but..)
i will try to reinstall the ram, but with my two week return coming up, i might just have to take it in and not risk it. going to call apple in the next day or so, when i have time, and see ... looking through the discussions i see i'm not the only one, so i'll post back if apple support has anything of interest to report.

  • After editing a photo and turning off edit the photo changes

So I am doing some extreme editing of some of my photos to get drastic, surrealistic effects....when I get it where i like it and turn off edit, the photo is ok for a moment and then changes to something completely different.....  any way to make the effects I see when in edit mode stay once edit mode is clicked off...

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

My Xray's battery suddenly goes to 2% then O% and turned off, It's not charging and I can't open it.  What could be the problem.

Try to connect the charger (long time) and turn on the phone.
When fully discharged battery, it takes a long time before it starts charging.
Do not discharge at the battery completely !
Attention to high temperatures (sun, car, etc)
If that does not work try another battery or charger.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
