Satelite a205-s4587

He All,
Have a a205-s4587 that had Vista home and I downgraded it to Windows XP...  I have sound but it Skips and Stalls and any Audio/Video file played any suggestions?  Thanks in Advance

Ram, like most other electronics tend to either fail in the first 30 days or so (usually caused by a manufacturing defect) or they last for a long time (assuming they aren't physically damaged or abused).  Most GOOD quality ram has a lifetime warranty, something they wouldn't give if they didn't expect the product to last a good while.  It is possible thaqt your ram is defective.  Go to Memtest, download their CD ISO image, create the self booting CD, and run it to see if the memory errors out or not.  If you get ANY errors then the ram does need to be replaced which should be covered under warranty (unless you purchased cheap stuff).  The ram of choice around here tends to center on the KTT line of Kingston ram (Toshibas's tend to have problems with their Value Line) which does have a lifetim warranty and is reasonably priced.

  • A205-S4587 Harddrive Issue

Hello MVPs there, I am having a problem with my laptop.
I have an A205-S4587 model and I was running a Vista Home Premium.  About two weeks ago, I upgraded my hard drive to 500GB, Seagate 7200 rpm from the original 110GB. I made sure it was detected by my laptop while I was in the store where I bought it.
I was able to make it work in my laptop by using the Recovery Disk which came with the laptop when I purchased it. I was able to restore everything and since the Recovery Disk does not have a partition option, I used Acronis software to partition the harddisk later after 2 days. My laptop worked for maybe two weeks and then the problem came.
It started with hanging up during start up. What I would do was to unplug the power, hit F2 and run in safe mode. Then I would restart and the machine would work perfectly. At once, I tried to use System Restore but it was not working.
For one week, I did that. That is, everytime I open the laptop, it hangs up then I will use safe mode, or sometimes I hit F8 and choose "boot using last good configuration" and it would work perfectly again. Hangs up here happened sometimes during the green bar scrolls, sometimes during password input in the user account, or even when I successfully entered the windows, after 5 mins the laptop would hang again.
Then one time, my ploy stopped working. I was no longer able to enter the windows succesfully so I decided to reformat the har disk using the Recovery Disk. Unfortunately, even the Disc Recovery hangs up in the part when I would click NEXT to start Recovery Wizard.
I can't remember what I have done, or what softwares i installed to cause these. but I remember that the last application I used was defragment software (Ausdefrag -a third party, not built in in windows) after I uninstall a program (i used Revouninstaller). Again Im not sure if it caused all these mess.
I regulary update my OS using windows update except Internet 8 and frameworks something (for firefox I think). Other than the two, I installed all updates of microsoft.
I appreciate any help anybody can give. Thank you in advance!
    Best regards, Cyrus

I ask a pardon for my English
I have Toshiba Satellite model A205-S4587. To me it is not necessary OS Windows Vista, and I want establish OS WindowsXP SP2. Because I have any queshion.
    1. If at me is not present usb floppy drive as I can establish the driver for sata controller drivers . On site
    2. For my model there is no support of drivers under WindowsXp SP2 on a site, only for Windows Vista. Whether there will be support WindowsXp SP2 for my model in the future and are how much compatible the driver from Windows Vista for WindowsXp SP2.
Thanks. Once again I ask a pardon for my English. WBR Nikolay Khachaturov.

    Hi
    I dont know if I can solve your all problems but I will try to provide some useful hints;
    Regarding the point;
    1) You dont need the external USB floppy drive.
You can create an own XP booting CD. There is an freeware application called nLite.
Using this program you can integrate the additional drivers like RAID or SATA and MS service packs into a Windows XP OS.
Google simply for nLite and Im sure you will find useful and interesting blogs and website about this software.
    2) Well, this is an US notebook and was designed for US market.
Therefore you should look for drivers on Toshiba US website.
If you will find nothing, then either you will try XP drivers designed for another Satellite A205/A200 series or you will search for single XP drivers on chip manufacture sites like Intel, nVidia, etc
    Good luck

  • I want to install XP to Satelite A205-S7459 but no HDD

I want to install xp sp2 to thoshiba satelite A205-S7459 but the hdd is not detected.
    pls help.

    Hi
I presume you didnt search in this forum for similar postings and issues
    Am I right?
So if you would use the Toshiba advanced search option you would find more then enough threads and postings regarding the Satellite A200 series, XP and not visible HDD.
One hint; search for the +Intel Matrix Storage Manger+ ;)
    Good luck

  • Are there any IDE adapters for a Satelite A205?

I just got a blue screen of death and would Like to hook the hard drive up to my desktop and fix it rather then send it off but the connection on the hard drive is not a standard kind.

I dont known exactly what you want to do but as far as I know the A205 was equipped with SATA HDD and if you want t connect it as external HDD to the other computer then you would need an USB-to-SATA controller.
There are some 2.5 USB cases which support the SATA controller. Therefore I would recommend purchasing such part if you want to connect the notebooks HDD to the desktop PC for example.

  • Need Help with satelite A205-S7442 laptop

Okay I recently got my 2 years old cousin hit my screen with a remote now its not letting me see my screen at all. its not cracked from the outside but from the inside. however I dont know if my warranty expired or not. How can I see if it did or not and what shall i do about the screen?
    Please help me!

Unless you bought an extended warranty that covers accidental damage, the expiration won't be relevent.  The standard warranty does not cover accidental damage to the LCD panel.

  • Laptop A205-s4587

I have a problem with my laptop.
My Laptop shtudowns after showing toshiba welcome screen. IN LESS 3 sec its shutdowns. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH MY LAPTOP.

That's good.  Now we need to ascertain if it shuts down while running a Live CD or Rescue/Recovery Disk.  Go into the bios and determine what brand of hard drive you have.  IF you aren't sure post the part number it lists and we'll help you figure it out, but WDC = Western Digital,  ST = Seagate, etc.  Go to that companies support site, download their Self Booting Diagnostic CD ISO Image, create the disk according to instructions, then boot to it and run the most exhaustive test on the drive.  If you aren't sure how to create the disk see this page.
If that passes then download Memtest, create it's diagnostic CD and run that.
You can also try a Linux Live CD.
    Let us know the results.

  • Toshiba laptop charger

Hey so I have a question. I have a Toshiba Satellite A205-S4587 laptop. My charger adapter recently broke so i need a new one. My current charger part number is PA3467U-1ACA. But when i looked it up, my only compatible charger part number is PA3290U-3ACA. I am confused now since the current charger is cheaper than my compatible one. What would happen if i buy the same model as my old one? I am confused to which one i should buy. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Steven

Even better, if you have a PSP(Service Plan) on your laptop that is still current, and you are past the first year of it, take your laptop into GS and they can order you a new one free of charge.
Else, we do carry a few universal ones starting actually at about $90.

Unfortunately, that's the bad luck of any electronic, there's going to be bad Apples... wait that's a horrible pun.

  • My Laptop randomly shuts down

I have a Toshiba satelite a205-s5855 that randomly shuts off after use, sometimes after hours but most of the time within 30-40 min or less. At first, I thought it may have been a virus or software problem, but after scanning it and finding nothing, and upgrading to windows 7(it previously had windows vista), I still had the problem. So I did some searching on the internet and eventually downloaded speedfan to check its temp after realizing it's probably overheating. I have speedfan 4.46 and have been using it to check core temps. The highest I've seen it before shutting down was 70-something, and it gets up to the mid-fifties when  I have nothing at all running except for it (and this is with me using an external fan to try to keep it cool). I've blown the fan with a can of compressed air as well, but I still have the problem. Also, on speedfan, when I goto charts and set it to analyze fan speeds, nothing shows up for me to select (not sure if that's normal). What can I do to solve this problem?

The events numbered 1 and 3 that you have posted are events AFTER your unit has restarted. They are useless as a cause of the previous shutdowns. You need to scan through the events that are recorded just BEFORE the restart, that is at or just before the system shutdown/crashed.
Here's some info on event number 2.
    Event ID: 33 Source: SideBySide
Did your event number 2 come just before a restart?
Specifically what anti-virus software are you using? Is it Kaspersky or AVAST?
Also, specifically what Canon device(s) (digital camera, scanner, printer, etc) do you connect or have connected to your system. Give us the spcecific model names/numbers.

  • How to reset or restore to factory settings A205-S4617 satelite

I have a A205-S4617 Satelite that I bought just over a year ago from Circuit City and I am having alot of problems with it . I think it would be easier and faster just to return it back to the way it was when I first bought it . I want it to be the way it was when it was new . It also seems not to be able to read a DVD oand it will not burn anything to a DVD . But i can use a CD in it just fine . I seems like either its not able to see a DVD and is not configured correctly or its broken . I have never tried to use the DVD until now so either way it was like this when it was new . I have the 2 Recovery and Applications /Drivers Satelite A200/A205 Home Premium disks and have tried to use the the way it says to ( hold down the C key when it boots up ) when i turn it on but this doesnt do anything . It deoesnt seem to see the DVD . And when I put a DVD in the drive it always says please insert a dick into the drive , it doesnt see the DVD . So how do I restore my laptop to the way it was when it was new .    Randall

The DVD 'side' of the CD/DVD drive has probably failed, since you cannot boot from the recovery DVD nor read any DVD at all.
Since the recovery DVD must be run from the internal drive, your only option is to have the drive replaced.

  • Unable to install SQL server 2000 and 2005 on Satellite A205-s5831

    Hello everyone.
I Needs some helps from all of you.
I have Toshiba Laptop Satellite A205-S5831.
Its Have Windows Vista Home Premium.
And I am unable to install SQL server 2000 and 2005.
I also Unable to Install Windows XP SP2.
    Problem is SATA driver.
    Plz Help me ...!
    Response me

    Hi
The Windows XP needs a SATA driver if you want to install it on the notebook with SATA HDD controller.
The SATA driver can be found in the Intel Storage Manager.
I would recommend using the nLite program to include a SATA driver into the new Windows XP CD and then to boot from the new created XP CD.
Here you will find all details regarding the nLite:
    http://www.nliteos.com/
    Regarding SQL server issue;
Maybe you will be able to install in on Windows XP. Possibly there is a compatibility issue between the Vista and the SQL server software

  • Upgrade on Satellite A205-s4607

    Hi
    I have a toshiba A205 - s4607, ith 2GB RAM (DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2 (non-ECC) ) and one 200.0 GB - Serial ATA-150 - 4200.0 rpm. The laptop is absolutely original in terms of hardware, i just changed the original Vista Home for Win7 Ultimate 64bits.
I would like to make an upgrade on it, doing the following:
    1) Buying 2 memory cards of 2GB each (obviously DDR2 PC2-5300)
    2) Replace my HD (that is too slow) with a SDD HD, with at least 160gb, like this one: http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/adet.to?poid=2000010007
Well. I dont see and problems in the memory change. If someone has something to say, fell free. The real question is that i need to know if my BIOS will be compatible with the SSD drives. Can somebody tell me if i can proceed on this? Is there some SDD that will suit better on my Laptop than others? Somebody did this before and can tell me the result and if was easy?
    Thanks in advance
    Fernando

All data about your notebook you can find here .
Your notebook can be upgraded up to 4 GB and compatible 2GB RAM module has part number PA3513U-1M2G.
You should not have any problems with RAM upgrade if you use compatible and high quality product
If you buy some cheap no-name RAM it can happen that notebook will not start properly.
HDD upgrade: I dont have any experience with SSD upgrade on this old notebook model but I dont think it is necessary. With $GB RAM and optimized OS notebook will run well and stabile. I dont know for which purposes you need your notebook but I think it is not necessary to spend money for SSD.

  • Satellite A205: Dynadock - How to connect to LCD TV with HDMI to DVI cable

I recently purchased this product and had a problem when connecting it to my LCD TV.
I used a HDMI to DVI cable to connect it to the TV. Only a small portion of the full display shows on the TV.
I have adjusted all setting on the laptop (Satellite A205) but it only adjusts the laptop screen, not the TV.
I also used the adaptor to VGA, plugged it into the computer input on TV, same effect. I can use VGA output on side of laptop to TV ok.
Any ideas on how to adjust dynadock output settings?

First of all it would be interesting to know what dynadock you have exactly; one with DVI port or one with VGA port?
    >I have adjusted all setting on the laptop (Satellite A205) but it only adjusts the laptop screen, not the TV.
You should know that the dynadock has a own built-in graphics controller and video drivers to control the video stream.
Therefore you should change the settings directly in the dynadock settings and not on the laptop!!!

  • MY TOSHIBA SATELITE A665 - S6050 IS DRIVING ME NUTS! PLEASE REPLY

THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IM POSTING THIS. PLEASE REPLY . Hi I am a very frustrated 16 year old boy on the verge of pullling out my hair. this is my problem. My grandpa bought this patop last year march , he passed it down to me in may cause hes not much of a tech person, now ever since he gave me this laptop i noticed problems. in the beginning, anytime you move the laptop slighty or pick it up , if theres any audio activity going on , it will stuttter in sync with the vibration of the laptop. i thought it was the harman kardon speakers but till today im still unsure. then came the problem of my ear jack slowly starting to give up . no ear phone plug or headset plug was able to fit in fully and play complete audio, it would only play quarter or halfway in.but i overlooked these problems cause i had a usb speaker and hey, it was a heck of a laptop , then during summer when i travelled to england , the battery pack just all of a sudden got spoiled and it could "no longer hold a full charge" it could only last for little over an hour thirty minutes.so i bought a new battery pack. no problem uh? lets go on . i had a few games on my previous acer aspire one a0522 and since this new laptop had a core i3 processor that prettty much packed a punch i installed most of the games here cause i am a game freak. the games were : fifa 11 , 13 , 14 , pes 2009 2012 2013 2014 , tom clancy's splinter cell conviction , nfs : carbon , hot pursuit , need for speed both new and old ones , call of duty 4 mw , call of duty black ops II , battle field 2142 battlefield 2 , cod mw 2 burnout etc . all the games were running fine varying from low - high quality settings because of the limited vram 64 mb on the intel hd 3000. i also had photoshops cs5 and 6 . now when i resumed school  everything was how it was, sound stuttering ear jack failing , now a new problem arose , whenever the computer gets a slight hit/bang to thr body , the screen goes black and it would either turn off or restart . i didnt understand this so i decided to remove some startups from ms config and all , i left the important things though like the windows 7 common user bla bla things , and the intel start up drivers as well as the realtek hd audio manager . eventually the problem got worse , when i was using it at times the computer would randomly just shutdown and sometimes it would not come on for hours to almost a day (whever i put it on the screen is just black and the hdd light does not light up) and sometimes it will come on immediately i press the power button . so i was obviously frustrated but managing with the laptop . so eventually the problem got so bad that whenever the computer started up and i ran a program , immediately the fan kicked into full speed , 5 seconds after the thing would just go off on its own , regardless of what program it was , i finally had enough and took it in for repairs . they serviced it and brought it back , everything was fine for one week then the problem started again , everything came back . so this time i went with the laptop for repairs myself and they told me the cpu was the problem that it needed replacement , another shop told me it was the cpu mother board and fan that had problems . so i dont know who to believe. BUT HERE IS A PECULIAR THING. when  i run the laptop on one core (disabled multi core processing in bios) of course the cpu isnt running at full capacity but on that one core it runs for hours fine without shutting down , but it makes some games slow cause not all cores are in use .so i decided to re enable multi core processing and did this : whenever i start a program i immediately go into my task manager and set the affinity of any running programs to one core only (usually cpu 0 in windows 7) then set the affinity of the program i just launched myself to either cpu's 1 ,2 or 3 NOW THIS PROCESS IS WORKING FOR ME SO FAR but i dont know how long it would last and when i run games like fifa 13 o=with this process it plays fine but sometimes it quits in match and there is constant audio lag , but most other games run fine . i downloaded hot cpu tester pro and did the ram test , everything was fine , benchmark test , everything up to standards , but when i did the cpu test (where the test utilises the cpu to a 100% and i know it does cause i can see the cpu usage in the status bar in tassk manger) when the test goes into 15 seconds the laptop goes off again like it used to . so my conclusion is my cpu is the problem but i am still not sure so i am posting this . please help guys. thanks i have done the full system recovery process 3 times but all the problems remain. i am in africa and have limited resources please help.
