Satelite C870-17L : Windows 8 preinstalled : Downgrade to windows 7 ?

I've got a Toshiba C870-17L. There was Windows 8 preinstalled. A very important program doesn't function under windows 8 so I need to install a Windows 7 on this computer.
Can I do that ? Do I wipe the HDD and cleaninstall windows 7 ? No problems with my computer ?
Can I download the original recovery-disks for my computer ?

Before you do anything create recovery media. This recovery media can be used if you want to install original Win8 recovery image. How to do this is described in Users manuals document.

Generally speaking, yes, you can do this.

Only problem can be to find all drivers, tools and utilities. It can be that some stuff will be missing so you will not be able to have 100% functionality but this can be related to some Toshiba specific tools.

No, you cannot do this. Recovery image cannot be downloaded.
For Win7 you must use Microsoft installation disc. Please note that you cannot use product key from your notebook for Windows activation.

Satellite Pro C870-19D: Windows 10 - BT seems to make problems

our Laptop Satellite Pro C870-19D runs fine under Windows 8.1. Now the Windows 10 registration and upgrade advisor tool has been installed automatically by Windows Update and it states that two internal Bluetooth components of this laptop will not be compatible with Windows 10.
Currently no updated Bluetooth driver is available neither via Windows online driver update nor via Toshiba Service Station.
Will there be a driver update in the near future which will ensure the compatibility with Windows 10?

Hi guys, the Windows 10 isn’t officially released by MS and currently the Windows 10 drivers are not available for any Toshiba notebook.
I think that you will need to wait until Toshiba would start the support of Win 10. I guess this will happen after official release of Win 10.

Satelite Pro A300 - Windows XP won't load

I fear that this may be due to a virus.
I was using the computer and a blue screen flashed up with white writing on it, it then switched intself of and now Windows won't load, not even in safe mode, or any of the other options. When I try to load in safe mode etc... it just comes up to the same page.
I can get in to the Boot section by pressing F12, but although I am computer literate, this is all absolutely new to me and I have no idea what to do next.
Has anyone got any ideas? Unfortunately I am outside of my warenty and would prefer to get the laptop up and running without spending a fortune at a repair shop.

If you have Microsoft Windows XP installation disc boot from it and try to use "Repair option".
I'm not 100% sure it will help but try it.

Windows media player does not recognize new CD when changing CDs in drive

I have a ThinkPad R61i that was purchased with a preinstalled downgrade from Vista to XP professional. Whenever I rip CDs using the built in DVD/CD player/burner, WMP doesn't recognize a new cd when I put one in. I am running WMP 11 for XP. The first CD is recognized after some switching around between tabs and, after it finishes burning it ejects the CD but when I put a different cd in, WMP acts like it still has the original CD. It will play the new CD and rip it but it rips over the original CD's file with the original CD's track listings. Anyone have this experience?

HT1222 I have Windows 7. The latest iTunes update messed it up. I tried to uninstall and reinstall iTunes. Now, it won't reinstall (64-bit). Error pops up: missing MSVCR80.dll. Any suggestions? Thanks.

At the last iTunes update about a week or so ago, my iTunes quit working. I do not remember the error at the time. I unistalled iTunes and attempted to reinstall. About 95% in the installation, there is an error. I cannot get by it. If I choose to "ignore" the issue, it says iTunes is installed. However, when I try to open iTunes the error: "The program cannot start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." I've tried this multiple times with no success. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

I bought the satelite laptop with windows 8 around christmas of 2013. I registeresd it with an email that has since become flooded with junk mail. I would like to change my email. I have a new email. I know I can add another administrator account but it will be separate. I just want my one account on this computer, with one email, but I would like it to be the new one. Can't update or delete iTunes

I have a Toshiba Satelite laptop running Windows 7 (64 bit). I have been trying unsuccessfully to update iTunes, iCloud Control Panel and Quicktime. I even tried to delete these programs before installing the updates, but nothing. I keep receiving the following message no matter what I do:
"Error writing to file: C:\Config.Msi\20e765.rbf Verify that you have access to that directory."
I own the laptop and have administrative priveleges in Windows. I don't understand why I am receiving this error message. Can anyone help? This is FRUSTRATING!!!

Connect to Airport Express and Wireless Router (Linksys) at the same time?

I have a laptop that connects to a Linksys wireless G (WRT54G) router. I just got an Airport Express to play iTunes wirelessly over my stereo. Is there a way to connect to both the Linksys router and the Airport at the same time - i.e., connect to the internet as I was over the wireless router AND send music wirelessly from my laptop to my stereo using the Airport Express at the same time?

All AAC Audio Files Lower After 6.0.2 Update

Just checking to see if anyone has had this problem before. I did the update two days ago (6.0.2) and noticed that my AirPort Express output was noticeably lower afterwards. I checked through my iTunes Library, "Get Info", and discovered in "Summary" that all of my AAC files had a volume reduction of about -10 decibels. For example, where a file had been -5 decibels for the purpose of 'Soundcheck', that file was now -15 dbs. I've discovered that I can solve the volume problem by unchecking "Soundcheck" in the Preferences --> Playback menus, but, in doing so, I've lost normalization of playback. Is there any way to control this feature across the board? Can I expect, with the next update, to have the volume decrease again? Any thoughts on this problem? Thanks.

I've been trying different things. I noticed that Apple Lossless gives a nice sound, but ***** up space. I have also noticed that many people have talked about the combination of MP3 and AAC in their libraries. It seems that the MP3 files play louder, and sure enough, the decibels for the ten MP3 files that I had were signicantly louder -- in the +decibels range. I converted them to AAC and removed the MP3 versions. I unchecked Soundcheck, played a few songs, and then checked Soundcheck. The sound seems to have gone up.

Re-render every time I re-open a project.

Every time I open the project I'm working on I have to re-render it. As it is a half hour video, with lots of graphics that takes a long time. I am on Premier Elements 11, I have a new Toashiba Satelite (64 bit) Windows 8. I'm not a computer person per se, but I can generally get programs up and running with little or no trouble. I'm using Photoshop Elements 11 in conjunction and have not had problems with that.
Additionally, my PE11 keeps crashing (Error message: This app has stopped working Search on line for solution or close program -- and it seems to choose close prorgame even if I don't touch the keyboard) It has crashed approximately 5 times over the last 3 or 4 days, although I've been working on this project for a few weeks with little or no crashing. It crashed this evening and I lost most of the work I did today, which had been saved and rendered multiple times.
I've been doing Classroom in a Book, and have not found that I had to re-reneder those projects when I opened it. When I open the project, as Classroom in a Book suggests, I do Windows>Restore Project, but that doesn't help.
Does anyone know a fix or what I am doing wrong? I fear I will have to start all over again.
I've not been able to find any solution in the FAQ. Is there a patch I can download?

Have you called Adobe Tech Support? Since they provided the files for Classroom in a Book, perhaps they can walk you through a solution.

Satelite L650 Laptop ~ Windows 7.
I have problems with laptop being very slow to boot up for several months until it failed to start. Took it to PC World and they said that I had a virus and that they had reinstalled the software back to factory settings from the hard drive. Worked ok for a few weeks than falied to boot. Restored Windows from recovery option by pressing F8 on start up. Worked fine for a few weeks until last week. Repeated the process and working fine.
On Monday I installed Adobe Photoshop and on Tuesday evening laptop was slow to boot up again, so uninstalled Photoshop. On shut down it installed some Windows updates. Last night when I switched it on came up with a messgae saying making xxxxx registry changes then failed to boot up. Now when I press F8 and select "Repair Your Computer" Windows starts to load files and I then get the System Recovery Options ~ Select UK keyboard and press next then I get a window saying "You must log in to access System Recovery Options. If you are havingtrouble logging in, please contact your computer administrator for assistance. Click OK to restart the computer."
I've not had this on previous reinstalls and I can't get around it. Help!

I have attempted to follow the instructions in the link provided.
After pressing "Next" at number 2, I get a box headed System Recovery Options with a red cross and the following text "You must log in to access System Recovery Options.
If you are having trouble logging in, please contact your computer administrator for assistance.
Click OK to restart the computer."
There are no passwords set on the laptop.
If I press "Ok" to this message the laptop attempts to reboot.
I get the Toshiba splash screen followed by Windows is loading files, then Startup Repair runs and gives the following message "If you have recently attached a device to this computer, such as a camera or portable music player, remove it and restart the computer. If you continue to see this message, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance. Click finish to exit and shut down your computer".
If I click Finish, the laptop totally powers down and I have to press the on button and it starts the boot up process again, runs start up repair and I'm presented with the message as above. If I press F8 at boot up I get the System Recovery Options Window shown at 2 in the link in the previous response.
If I press Next I get the message in the first paragraph of this post.

TM switches itself off once-a-week...

As the subject line says... it starts again after I switch the slider back to ON in Time Machine Preferences.
My TM volume is an external USB-disk that's left on 24/7, also when sleeping my Mac Mini overnight, and is still there when it awakens. The switching off is not related to sleeping/awakening, I believe, as the last successful B/U is usually several hours later.
Is TM switched off by some weekly cron-like process, I wonder?

I had this problem for awhile, but it has stopped since I moved the airport to a different location. It was connected with the Apple extension chord to a Monster surge protector and close to a bookcase with metal bars. I disconnected the extension chord and plugged the AE directly into the surge protector (and about two feet away from the bookcase). The freezing stopped after that. I really think that the AE is quite sensitive to certain situations. It is not as strong as the Linksys access point that I was using as it gives me a range of about twenty feet before the connection begins to drop.
Anyway, I don't know if that helps, but I hope it does.

I am able to print from my computer wireless to airport express by following these steps:
but I cannot print wireless from iphone. Airport untility detects printer, also set up printer through Boujour Windows.
Why will my iphone not detect the printer.

1. Make sure the printer is recognised by the base station.
2. Select 'Add a new printer' in Windows
3. Select 'Local Printer' in the dialog box (auto detect and install
should be off), click next.
4. Choose 'Create a new port' and "Standard TCP/IP Port'. Click next.
5. For the printer IP address, enter the address of the base station 10.0.1.1. The port name will be filled automatically. Click next.
6. For the device type, choose 'Hewlet Packard Jet Direct', then click Finish.
Choose your printer from the list and follow the rest of the prompts to install and configure the driver

In order for an iOS device to print to a printer, that printer must be AirPrint-capable. Just connecting a printer to the USB port on the AirPort or Time Capsule will NOT make it AirPrint-capable.
An alternative is to use an application, like: Printopia.
