Satelliate 1115-S103 Correct Reinstall Disks?

I need to reinstall Windows XP that came with my 115-S103.
I have a set of 2 CDs that may have come with this computer but could easily have come from another.
Here are what they say
1) "SOFTWARE cd-rom"
below that "system recovery and backup should be performed through the Tech-in-a-box software application that is preinstalled on your computer system"
Support for thios product provided by Si
083157
XPH-REV3
2) "Driver Resource, Diagnoistic Tools" CD_ROM Version 2.01
2001 Si Manufacturing Inc
How can I know if this is correct
I loaned the computer to a friend and he did a freesh install of a legitimate XP copy in Spanish, which I don't read well. Please Help/Advise.
The computer actually functions well, but sound doesn't work. Other forums have said it might be SP3 for Windows, but I couldn't find a way to uninstall SP3

Satellite 1115-S103
You should be able to obtain those recovery discs from a third-party.

  • Windows 7 reinstall disks

I just bought an hp laptop with windows 7 laptop and it didn't come with reinstall disks or recovery disks, I have never seen them come without before , is there a way i can get them from hp

    Jindog71,
You are correct in saying "the Recovery Discs are not the Windows 7 instal disk", but you are wrong about "the Recovery Discs can only recover an already installed OS" and "You can't use them to do a fresh install for say a replacement on a failed Hard Drive like I want to do now."
You should have created your personal set of HP Recovery Discs when you first setup your computer. This would have allowed you the return the computer to a factory like state, even with a replacement hard drive. The Recovery Discs you create or purchase from HP contain an image of the original factory installation. These discs will partition and format the drive as well as install the OS image and recovery partition. Some versions of the recovery software allow a "minimized recovery" which only installs the OS and drivers.
Microsoft will not help you at all. The HP discs you buy will have the OS on them, but they aren't regular installation discs. The HP discs will restore the Windows image to the hard drive, are locked to your model computer, and use a different Windows key than the one on the side/bottom of your computer. Most major computer builders (Dell, Sony, Gateway, HP, etc.) use a special OEM key and certificate to "pre-activate" when coupled with the proper builder's BIOS. This is different than a regular install that requires Windows to be activated via internet or phone.

You can download the setup file again from this Link (Download Acrobat products | Standard, Pro | XI, X ) and Burn it to a DVD Disc using Windows Explorer.

  • " software for this i phone is not installed correctly. reinstall iTunes"

    Hi guys
I managed to get iTunes to open but now I receive a warning message "software for this i phone is not installed correctly. reinstall iTunes", when connecting my iphone and ipad as well... reinstalling itunes does not solve the problem.

I'm sure i'm not the only victim out there.
Pls guys, any advise on how do i fix this problem.
    Thanx

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Is it true that your computers dont come with windows reinstalation disks

I am a fan of open source *nix systems
and was reading that most hp and other systems dont come with windows reinstalation disks
    is this true?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

As long as you have the recovery discs, there will not be a problem putting the original operating system back on the unit.

  • Disk utility not working and neither is reinstall disk

Im trying to wipe a hard drive off of an old computer because it is way too slow. I've tried the disk utility and it won't start(tried command - r and starting it in safe mode). Then I found my OS x reinstall disk and that didn't work. So I'm at a loss. Any help?

If you have Snow Leopard disc, boot from it to reformat the drive with DiskUtility and  install OS X.
OS X Recovery boot(booting with command+r) is included Lion or later OS X.

If this is a fairly new Mac running either v10.7 Lion or v10.8 Mountain Lion she can use Lion or Mountain Recovery to repair the startup disk or reinstall OS X.

  • Reset factory settings on early 2008 Macbook Air - no reinstall disks

    Hi,
I just purchased a January 2008 Macbook Air for a family member.  The other person wiped it clean of their personal data but I want to put it back to factory settings so it's a fresh start from scratch.
I have no idea if these models came with any kind of reinstall disks or flash drives, but this wasn't included with the purchase.
I have a late 2010 Macbook Air myself which came with a Reinstall Drive for Mac OS X v10.6 + iLife '11.  (model no. A1384).
All I need to know is whether my reinstall drive will work on the 2008 model before I run the disk utility and wipe everything.
I don't own an external CD drive or super drive.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks

That computer came with restore discs for Leopard and iLife '08. You can purchase replacements from Apple Support:
Apple Store Customer Service at 1-800-676-2775 or visit online Help for more information.
To contact product and tech support: Apple - Support - Contact Apple Support.
For Mac App Store: Apple - Support - Mac App Store.
For iTunes: Apple - Support - iTunes.
It is unlikely the discs that came with your 2010 MBA will install on the older model, but you can certainly try. It is, however, a violation of the software license to install OS X on more than one CPU at a time.
I have no idea what you mean be a "reinstall drive." Your computers came with DVDs, not drives. You can use any external drive that can read dual-layer discs and connect via USB.

  • How can you reinstall SL on a older mini, I just upgraded to Lion .Since I downloaded it, I made a disk copy for the future  when all the kinks are work out. But would really like to go back to SL for now. I tried my reinstall disk, which didn't work.

I have an older Mac mini  using SL as my last upgrade and really like it.. Just last week I upgraded to Lion, and do not like it,,,I would like to reinstall SL but do not know how to go about it,,,I did burn a copy of Lion and will reinstall it when all the kinks are worked out..Can someone tell me how uninstall Lion and reinstall SL.....Thx

    Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
    1.  Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.

  • I want to restore imac to like new for wife but never got a restore or reinstall disk how can i do this

I want to reset my old imac to the facotry settings and start from scratch for the wife I have the new one and niether came with a recovery disk how can i do this....

Install or Reinstall Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • How Can I Reinstall Disk Utility?

    Hi,
I been having problems opening Disk Utility to format an USB drive since december 2009, every time I tried it freezes like 1 minute an never opened. Then I supposed it was a problem with my hard disk maybe corrupted data.
Today I tried to use the Disk Utility using Mac OS Install DVD, holding C key. After that, I put to verify my MacBook hard disk, and after that told me that I need to repair. So I've tried to repair, but Disk Utility could not do it, and it stops booting my hard drive.
I needed to use a full restore of a Time Machine backup, but now I can't open the disk utility and give me the following message:
    - You can't open the application "Disk Utility.app"; because it is not supported on this architecture.
*So how can I reinstall the Disk Utility from my Mac OS Install DVD?*
    Thanks,

Use Pacifist to extract it from your Leopard DVD.

  • Creating Windows 7 reinstall disk

    Hello,
I have a laptop that has been getting a bit sluggish and cluttered recently, and I was hoping to do a complete wipe and reinstall.  It originally shipped with Windows Vista, but I installed 7 on it a couple of years later using a license provided by
my school.  I don't have an install disk (I think I burned one as part of the original install but subsequently lost it), so I attempted to download the ISO from the link given:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery
However, every time I click 'verify product key' I am presented with the message:
"The language you've selected is not available for the product you are eligible for.  Please select a different language."
Which is odd, because this is definitely an English version of Windows 7 that I am using.  Is there a way around this problem?
    Thanks either way,
    Alex

You will have to contact Microsoft directly via telephone.  This merely an end user peer-to-peer forum with no connection to Microsoft corporation departments.
It does appear there is a problem with the website as I tried one of my Win 7 HP keys and received the exact same message telling me my selection of English is:
    Unsupported Language Error
The language you've selected is not available for the product you are eligible for.  Please select a different language.
