Satellite 1135 won't start/power on

Hello Everybody,
I have an old satellite 1135, it was working, then suddenly one day when I pressed the power button nothing happened, only the leds in the front flashed like this:
1.-With the battery only, the Power, Battery, and CD LEDs light up for a sec and turn off, Pwr and Batt amber and CD green.
2.-With A/C adapter plugged in I get Green LED showing A/C is plugged in and Batt light amber showing Batt. is charging but when i push the power button nothing happens
Does anyone knows what these indicators mean?
Please Help
Thank you very much

Hi!
I completely agree with Akuma. For me it sounds like a mainboard failure too but you should test another AC/DC adaptor too.
If you need a new mainboard or AC/DC adaptor you can also look on eBay. For old notebooks you can get the different spare parts very cheap.

  • Satellite A100 - Won't start up Windows

Without changing anything, my Satellite A100 won't start up Windows.
A screen with with Windows foutherstel (failure recovery) gives two options; start windows normally and start up recovery. When I push the first option, there is a quick blue screen, what disapears too fast to read the tekst. Finally the screen failure recovery comes back. in the other option there is a screen Options for system recovery who's said; Can not start the installated program. Click on Ok to shut down the computer.
How do I fix this problem?

    Hi hans_3,
Maybe something has muddled up the Windows registry or some important system files and so you cant start Windows anymore or start the system repair option.
I think in this case its necessary to reinstall Windows. Therefore you can take the Toshiba recovery disk that brings your computer back o factor settings where all drivers and tools are already installed but it wipes the whole HDD.
It takes only few minutes and needs some clicks.
    Good luck! :)

  • Satellite L500D won't start

    Hello,
My Toshiba Satellite L500D won't start.
When I start my laptop the three lights on the left light green, the two on the left are not green or red. I hear the coolingfan, no beeps at the startup. When I start the laptop with a systemdisk it's the same, nothing happens.
I contact the supportdesk and they said that it could be the harddisk, this sounds a bit strange to me because I can't start it with a systemdisk.
I hope someone can point me in the right direction

    Hello,
The notebook is my dauther's and I'm pretty sure she hasn't update the bios. She is 14 years old and she does what 14 year old girls do with their notebook. Gaming, hives, chatting etc.
What she told me is that she had some problems when starting the notebook. It didn't start correctly, she had to push the powerbutton several times, sometimes maybe like for half an hour or so, then suddenly the pc woke up and did start. SInce a few days nothing works anymore.
The screen stays black and I hear no beeps, just the coolingfan and sometimes a noice asif the hd was trying to start. The coolingfan also doesn't run properly, it makes a sound like an automobile that runs irregular

  • Toshiba Satellite L750 won't start at all.

Hi, I own a Toshiba satellite l750 (part number PSK2YA-04K010) and rather unexpectedly, it's just refusing to start. The lights at the front are on for the power adaptor, so it's not the power supply, and the power light flashes for maybe three seconds when I press the on button, but the laptop does not even start (no fan noise or anything". The power light seems to flash periodically at random as well. I've had the laptop since May at last year, and in December I had to get the hard drive replaced. I did get a blue screen with the message "Kernel page error" maybe a week ago, but other than that, no warning signs. If any one could help, it would be great. Thanks.

Turn off your laptop, unplug all wires, remove the battery, and hold the power button for thirty seconds. Afterwards, reattach the battery and connections.
If it still won't start, remove the battery and start with just the AC power. Next try without the AC power and just the battery. Also, check that the RAM is inserted securely. Instructions can be found in your user's guide if you need.
If that doesn't help at all, contact support in your region to seek service.

  • Toshiba Satellite S655D won't start.

Laptop is running Windows 7, won't start at all.  Fan won't kick on, can't hear the hard drive,.  Power light is on, as is battery light and AC light.  Sometimes when trying to start  the power light will be on, and the battery and HDD light will flash.  Also, the hard drive light will quickly flash when first trying to start
was able to have data transferred from hard drive, but don't know if hard drive is still operational. What might be the problem? thanks

Hi! See if you can burn one of these and boot with it. If the fan is not coming on that is not a good sign.http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/f/powersupplytest.htm

  • Satellite A660 - Won't start

My Satellite A660 rebooted a few times and then it shut off and now it won't start up at all, and doesn't register that it even has the power packed connected. It's not working at all, any help would be appreciated

    Hi liam42,
What happens exactly when you try to start your notebook (press the power button)? Can you access the BIOS setup or what happens exactly?
Do you see any error messages on display?
    Probably this could help you:
Remove the battery and AC/DC adapter. Then wait at least one hour then connect both again and try to start your notebook.
    Does it work?

I can type out everything it says if I need to, but that the jist
Does this sound familiar to anybody?
It might be because I didn't update enough when it told me to.
It won't start, not even on safe mode, and it won't let me restore, which I would be perfectly willing to do at this point.

    Hi
Usually the Blue screen of death happens due to the serious software problem or due to the hardware malfunction.
In your case it sounds more like something wrong with the hardware. Why, because you are not able to restore the notebook from the delivered Toshiba recovery CD!
What to do buddy? I think the notebook must be checked.
Try to contact an ASP in your country and ask for the further handling!
    Good luck

  • Satellite A110 - won't start at all!

My laptop won't start up. The battery will not charge, but the laptop won't start up even on mains power (with or without battery in place).
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

This sounds like a mainboard issue
Have you tried to remove the battery and AC/DC adaptor? Remove both and wait one hour then connect the battery and AC/DC adaptor again.
If it doesnt work you should contact an authorized service provider for help. The technicians can help you to check the notebook.

  • New Satellite P300 won't start up.

I hope you can give me some advice. This week I bought a new Toshiba P300-GU with Vista Home Premium. It worked fine for about 3 days but now it won't start up at all.
    Symptoms:
    * - A few LED-lights blink for a second before they turn off again.
    * - No sound from either fan or harddrive.
I tried to remove battery and power cable and left the computer for a day before trying again. There is no difference except for a few more LED-lights blinking for a second the first time I try to start up the computer. Next time I try, only a few lights blink again.
After I discoved the start-up problem I noticed that the power supply is fairly noisy. I also noticed that the machine has a small bubly mark in the plastic in the upper left corner above the screen. (Looks like a production error or transportation fault) You hardly notice the small 1 cm inconsistency in the plastic, but it doesn't look like a normal scratch.
As I thought the power supply might be causing the problems because of the strange sounds, I brought the maschine to a PC technician today. He tested the power supply, and said that it worked properly, but he also said that it shouldn't sound like that. He did not open the notebook, in order not to cause trouble regarding the Toshiba warranty.
I bought the computer in Denmark as I wanted a Danish keybord. However I live in Portugal, where I will be using the computer. This is where the PC is now.
Do you recommend that I contact an ASP in Portugal to repair the PC or do you suggest that I return the PC to the dealer in Denmark?
Will the ASP be able to exchange the screen and the power supply which obviously both are not in the state they should be?
    Thanks for any advice!

    Hello
First of all I must say I never had problems after 3 days of my new Toshiba notebook but such things happens and no manufacture is perfect.
Furthermore I must agree with you. I would bring the notebook to an ASP because it seems that mainboard is faulty but Im not sure. This is only my personal opinion and so the notebook should be checked by a notebook technician.
As far as I know the notebook is covered by 1 year international warranty and so I would contact the ASP in your country. Ask them if they can repair your notebook and if not you must contact the other ASP where you bought the notebook.
I think this is the best solution because they can tell you what to do exactly.
Good luck and Im sure that your notebook will be repaired as fast as possible.

  • Satellite A355D-6887 Won't start/power on/no lights

I attempted to replace a HDD in my laptop that had been threatening to fail/acting sluggishly. I bought a WD Scorpio black 500GB drive, and placed it in. everything worked fine, and all was dandy. as this was my OS drive, i had to restore it. I got through the whole process, and had begun to do windows set up when it shut off. This is prone to happen; it overheats very easily, and will shut off to save itself. usually, I allow it to cool for a few minutes, and it will restart.
this time, nothing happened. There isn't an indicator light either. I've tried various methods of resetting, etc. but I"m looking for anyone who may know what's up. the drive seem to be fine; i've tested both of the dual HDD in my desktop, and i'm actually formatting my new one to try and reload the OS. not sure what's up.

  • Satellite E45t won't start for few hours after shut down

I have a brand new Satellite E45t-4100. After shutting down, I am not able to start the laptop for few hours. Upon pressing the power button, say after 15 minutes, power button LED lights up but nothing is displayed on the screen. I have disabled the sleep mode from power settings as I was facing the similar situation when trying to wake up the laptop from sleep. Although, when restart is chosen, laptop restarts without any trouble.
    Please help.

    Hello,
I have the exact same problem as the OP with an E45t-a4300. Purchased almost a year ago (Oct 30, 2013) from Best Buy. Worked perfectly for about 2 months after purchase and then this problem arose. Started when I'd put the computer to sleep, it wouldn't wake up. The computer would just shut off when I'd go to wake it up. When I'd hit the power button to restart, the fan would briefly spin, power indicator/wifi light turns on, then it shuts down again. I would repeat this cycle- sometimes only a few times, sometimes for almost an hour- before the Toshiba splash screen appeared with the "computer wasn't shut down properly"  and the computer would restart and run the standard diagonostics. However, at first on a cold start or start from hibernation it would start fine but after awhile that stopped, too, and any starting attempt was met by the same non-start/shut down cycle.
This went on for about 3 months with me basically rarely shutting down the machine. I searched forums at the time and found nothing regarding this problem. Then one day in mid-March, the start-up problem miraculously disappeard- it fired right up. It started perfectly fine and worked with no problems whatsoever for 6 months, including waking from sleep and hibernation, until about 2 weeks ago. Now the same problem is back- it won't turn on with multiple start attempts and shuts down when you try to wake from sleep or hibernation- showing the "computer wasn't shut down properly" on the splash screen and going through the test process when if finally does start. Also, I'm now unable to enter the BIOS page on start up when pressing F2.  I also have disabled rapid start, etc after the problem began.
I've owned quite a few laptops over the years (including Toshiba) and work with computer based systems for a living. I REALLY love this laptop a lot (yes, even with 8.1) but this problem is just disheartening. I truly appreciate any help.
    Thanks!!

  • Satellite A660 won't start up

    Hi guys,
First I hope this is in the right place as im completely new to this!
    Ok the problem,
I own a Toshiba satellite A660-1DW and this evening it wont start up, well i say it wont start up but nothing appears on screen, let me expand:
Press power on/off button >> Laptop turns on >> Runs for around 30 seconds >> Nothing appears on screen - screen remains black i.e. the same state as it is when turned off >> Laptop turns itself off
Thats it, I don't know what to do! Is it a fault with the screen? Is it fixable? I have lots of files/documents I need, do I need a complete new laptop?
    Any help is appreciated, Thanks.

    > Is it a fault with the screen?
To discover this you can attach an external monitor.
If you will see Toshiba splash screen on external monitor, then this means that your internal display is faulty. But I think there is something wrong with motherboard or part of the motherboard.
    > Is it fixable?
Everything is fixable but its a question of expense
If motherboard is affected, the mobo needs to be replaced and this is expensive
But maybe its not motherboard maybe some memory modules are faulty
Remove on modules and test the notebook using one module in each slot
But Im afraid the hardware needs to be checked by professional technician.
    >I have lots of files/documents
You can remove the HDD and can attach this HDD using an USB->SATA controller to another computer.
In such case you can access the data stored on the notebookss HDD

  • Satellite P100 won't start (or stop) ...

The computer does not respond at all to the start up button...
The two first lights from the left are constantly on though (that is if either the battery or the AC adapter are plugged in). What's weird is that they're not orange or blue, but both. Both the orange and blue signals are constantly on on both of those lights... even in the manual or the internet I've never seen anyone that had both light signals at the same time.
Here's a pic... it's those two lights. I took this picture on the internet so they're not lit up orange/blue like mine (there's no green on my model actually), but it's those two anyway.
I tried removing the memory, hard drive, unplugging basically everything (the motherboard is laying right there in front of me actually), but those lights just stay open as long as the AC adapter is plugged or the battery is in (it's awkward to connect the battery directly to the motherboard hehe).
Besides those lights, nothing is running. The hard drive or the fans won't respond at all...

    Hi,
it would be better to bring the machine to an service partner for a hardware checkup. And if you do this, dont forget to sent them the AC too, maybe your
AC-adapter is just faulty or something else.
If you need it, heres a adress where you can find the next local servicepartner:

  • Satellite L50 won't start up - asks for HDD password

    Hi
    hopefully someone can help me
I have a Toshiba Satellite L50 laptop and when i start it up it says
+no bootable device please restart system+
It is still under waranty as it was only bought 6 months ago.
I took it back where i bought it and they told me to contact Toshiba.
I am waiting on a call back.
I am hoping someone can help. It also asks for HDD password.
Where do I find that information?

    Hi Kym
I guess the Satellite L50 cannot find the bootable device (HDD) because the HDD has been secured with an HDD password and without this password the HDD isnt accessible and the system will not boot up properly.
Did you set such HDD password in the past?
Im asking because such password isnt set on new notebooks. Such HDD password can be set only by notebook owner
From my knowledge if you dont know such HDD password, you will not be able to get access to the HDD in such case the HDD would be useless and the data would be lost
Therefore I would recommend you to check if someone has set the HDD password on your notebook in case you dont know the password, you will need to replace the HDD and to reinstall the system once again.
