Satellite 1415-s105: Virus alert - please help!

Hi,
I'm running XP home edition on a Satellite 1415-S105
The computer is behaving very suspeciously, it says: :your computer is infected" - vist this or that website and we'll fix it for you without me even running browser.
I've reinstalled xp with the recovery drive from toshiba serveral times, but this doesn't help. The virus or whatever it is is still there.
What do I do?
Everything is backed up. I just want to do complete clean up of the hard drive, but the recovery disk doesn't seem to be able to.
Thanks a lot.

Hi
Did you use several partitions on the HDD?
Its possible that the virus is placed on the second partition and not on C OS partition.
Sometimes viruses, worms and other danger applications are hidden in the common files like mp3.
In my opinion you should use the anti virus software like Norton antivirus and update the virus file definition. Its very important that your anti virus software is up to date.

  • SMQ1 & SMQ2 Alerts: Please help set up Queue blocking alterts

    Hi ALL
We have been experiencing problems with Queue Failures / Blocked Queue  in PROS.
However, we do NOT get this notification as part of Alerts we have set up in ALRTCATDEF.
Can you please, help us with any links on documentation on how to set up SMQ1 & SMQ2 alerts. So, that we get notified via whenever a queue is blocked.
    Your help is greatly appreciated!!
    Regards,
    Patrick

    Hi ,
For runtime errors , you can trigger an alert.
I don't think so, it is possible to trigger an alert when message is stuck in Queue, but if you get any error either system error or application error then you can trigger an alert.
    For more-

If you have got any errors like communication errors because of Queue error, then you can think of configuring CCMS alerts.(i.e alerts for Components)

  • IPhone Alerts, Please help!

Only certain sounds are working. Calling alert works and can hear and speak fine, text alert wont work only vibrates. Music will play with no sound unless through headphones and the keypad doesnt make any sounds. Please help asap.

It is surprising iphone does not have this feature. My 5 year previous cell phone had the feature, but would also give you the option to disable it if you just wanted 1 beep. That way if you step away from your cell or get busy, you at least had a repeat reminder to check your voicemail. This is CRITICAL in Emergency situations (medical) or time sensitive things that can come up, especially if you don't know about them in advance.
Can we have more discussion on this? Are we sure this simple feature does not exist for the iphone?? Is there an Application I can get that will help solve this problem? I am sure I am not the only one who could benefit from it.

  • My Macbook all of a sudden can't open Skype, Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Entourage. I have done research and read that it has something to do with malware and viruses. Please help I feel like I have tried everything!

This started a few days ago, when I noticed skype would not open and keeps quitting unexpectingly. Now it's all of my microsoft office programs. I have read horrible things on the internet about creeps building some sort of 'backdoor' through Mircosoft Word and are now able to access my macbook. I want to feel safe again and I want to be able to use skype again. I think I will delete Microsoft office until I find/can afford a better version.
I have tried deleting and re-installing the programs, PRAM-ing my mac, doing the utilities organizing thing, and I downloaded 4 different scanners (Cleanmymac, VirusBarrier Express, Bitdefender Virus Scanner, and ClamXav) to help get rid of this and only one scanner found a small file that was harmful. I need some advice PLEASE!
    Thank you for your time!

Thanks MadMac0 I followed the instructions in Terminal for the link you sent and all my programs open again!
Sorry I'm just getting to this now, but a lot going on today in this front. There is now a "K" version of Flashback and perhaps more going on.
A couple of considerations you need to be aware of.
It's clear from the results of your testing that the reason you were infected is because your Java is out of date, so it's important that you keep all your software up-to-date going forward.
But even that won't protect you from this new "K" version as Apple has not released the patch to it yet, so I encourage you to disable Java in all your browsers and consider doing so for everything by opening Java Preferences (located in /Applications/Utilities/) and unchecking the box next to "J2SE 6.0" and any other box that might be checked. If you find that some application(s) you need must use Java, then you should enable it only to run that application(s).
We cannot be certain that what you did totally killed the Trojan, so your best bet would be to restore your Mac back to where it was before you were infected using TimeMachine. If you don't have a TimeMachine backup or cannot determine the date of infection, then your safest solution is this one:
    Courtesy of Linc Davis:
I suggest you take the following steps immediately:
    1. Back up all data to at least two different devices, if you haven't already done so.
    2. Boot from your recovery partition (if running Mac OS X 10.7 or later) or your installation disc (if running an earlier version of the Mac OS), launch Disk Utility, and erase the startup drive. This action will destroy all data on the drive, so you must be sure of your backups.
    3. Install the Mac OS.
    4. Reboot and go through the initial setup process to create an account. Don’t import anything from your backups at this stage.
    5. If running Mac OS X 10.6.x or earlier, run Software Update.
    6. Restore the contents of all the top-level subfolders of your home folder except “Library” from the most recent backup. You can also restore the files in the Library folder, but don’t restore any of its subfolders; only the files contained in those folders, and only if they’re visible in the Finder. Don’t restore any hidden files or folders, no matter where they are.
    7. If you’re running Mac OS X 10.5.x or earlier, disable Java in Safari’s preferences, and leave it disabled until you upgrade to Mac OS X 10.6.8 or later, including all available updates. The Java web plugin is unsafe to use under older versions of the Mac OS. Note: I’m not referring to JavaScript, which is unrelated to Java, despite the similarity in the names.
    8. Change every Internet password you have, starting with banking passwords. Check all financial accounts for unauthorized transactions. Take this step only after you’ve secured your system in the preceding steps, not before.
    9. Reinstall your third-party software from fresh downloads or original media, not from backups which may be contaminated. If you use any third-party web browsers under Mac OS X 10.5.x or earlier, disable Java in their preferences, as you did with Safari in step 7.
Of course, as of this morning you should follow my instructions for disabling Java and ignore his, at least until Apple gets that Java patch out.
Pay particular attention to Step 8 no matter what you decide to do.

  • Laptop crashed after Redirect Virus/Trojan - please help!

I have HP G72-B66US laptop purchased 10/2010.  I am running Windows 7 Home Premium.  I have McAfee Antivirus with current virus definitions and nothing was found but a month or so ago my McAfee firewall started turning off.  I would turn it back on and sometimes it would turn right back off again.  I’ve been concerned that I had some problem undetected by McAfee so I downloaded MalwareBytes.  I actually disconnected my laptop from our wireless internet connection and downloaded the MalwareBytes setup file onto a flash drive using our desktop PC and then installed MalwareBytes on my laptop without taking it back online.  MalwareBytes went all the way through a full scan and at the very end detected the Redirect Trojan.  When I attempted to remove this Trojan with Malwarebytes, my computer crashed.  When I rebooted, it was back connected to the wireless router and McAfee’s firewall was off again.  Now the laptop won’t even boot up.
[A] When I reboot it I get the “Starting Windows” message followed by the HP logo.  Then I get a Windows Error Recovery screen with the following message: “Windows failed to start.  A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.  If Windows files have been damaged or configured incorrectly, Startup Repair can help diagnose and fix the problem.  If power was interrupted during startup, chose Start Windows Normally.”  When I chose Startup Repair, it says “Windows is loading files” and then displays a blue screen with something that looks like rays of light beaming from the top center.  Then it says “Startup Repair”.  Then it shows the Recovery Manager screen in the background with Startup Repair window on top.  This window displays the message “Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically”.  Closing that window brings me to the Recovery Manager screen with 3 sections: “I need help immediately”, “I’d like to identify any problems”, and “I’d like to take precautions”.  The first section contained 3 options: Microsoft System Restore, System Recovery, and Minimized Image Recovery. The second section had 1 option: Run Computer Checkup.  And the third section had 1 option: File Backup Program.
[B] First I chose to back up my files.  I then tried to read the DVDs on my desktop PC and saw the whole thing is compressed, so I have not verified the integrity of the backup.  The Computer Checkup utility provides 3 options: Launch Check Disk for the Windows Partition, Launch Check Disk for the Recovery Partition, or Open a Command Prompt.
Running Check Disk for the Windows Partition, it went through the process of verifying files and then indexes and security descriptors.  I did not see anything that looked bad, though at the end the data flew rapidly up the screen so I couldn’t read it all.
[C] At this point, I clicked the X to close Recovery Manager.  It prompted: “Do you want to exit Recovery Manager and reboot?” and I clicked OK.  This brought me back to the stage described in [A] above.  This time I chose “Start Windows Normally.”  I got the “Starting Windows” message followed by the HP logo.  Then it went right back to the Windows Error Recovery screen with my two choices of “Startup Repair” or “Start Windows Normally”.
[D] I then went back into Recovery Manager and tried System Recovery.  Since I’d been having problems for a few weeks I chose to recover a few stages back, using 4/6/13.  That recover processed for a while but eventually failed.  The problem was identified as StartupRepairOffline.  I don’t know if I can even get my laptop back online since I can’t cleanly boot up, so if I need to be online to run the repair utility I’m stuck.
Please advise how I should proceed from this point…

I am running Kaspersky antivirus and the same problem is coming up like antivirus is turned off..
sysem recovery is not working as well as the recovery discs..what to do??

  • Am I infected by virus? Please help me~

    Dear friends,
When I online yesterday, I used the Microsoft msn (Mac version) to chat with friends and received a link from my friend. The link said that there are pictures of us in an earlier function. Because we actually had a function the day before I received it. Hence, after I accepted the file transfer, I stopped it as I am afraid of virus in the middle of the transfer...
Today my friend (he is using windows not Mac) tells me his msn is infected with virus and send the above messages to friends in his contact list unstoppedly and seemingly it is spreading the virus...
Do u think I will be infected by the virus? Or the Mac is immuned? How can I check for virus infection? How can I remove the virus if infected?
    Pls help help help!!!
For your information, I do not use any of the BootCamp. Parallel Desktop or VM and not install Windows in my Mac.
What should I do? I tried to search in the finder for the.exe file or.dll file but none is there. I entered "*.exe" and "*.dll" as searches. Is it correct to search in this way? If not, could u please kindly advise the appropriate way? I love the new Mac very much and don't want it to be infected...
    Beg for your help please.

As mentioned earlier, there are no known viruses in the wild for OSX. That is not to say you shouldn't use common security practices, such as not running from an administrator user account, only download from trusted sites, and not installing anything unless you know what it is. Even if you don't run Windows, it is possible to pass infected files to other Windows users - in that case, the freeware ClamXav is a popular virus checker.

  • Anyone  with an Access Virus TI, please help!

Hi people! i bought my virus ti and i'm trying to make it work in multi mode : (i'v got a IMac intel)
What i did, i created on Logic a new layer in the enviroment naming it virus Ti , then i created a new multi instrument and connected it to a instrument 1 where is placed my virus ti plug in. i thought this was the way to work with it , but then when i skipped through the 16 channels the sound is always the same ...so i guess its not working in this way.
I went to the access web site and i downloaded the tutorial song but they created on the arrange page an instrument channel with the virus plugged in and then they made a copy of that track times 16 just changing the midi channels 1 to 16 which is impossible cause if i open a new project and i try to make the same set up obviously after i make 16 same instrument , when i go to change the midi channels it change it globally to all of them!!!
hope u can help me thanx a lot

    Hey there!
I don't know if you've sorted your problem (it's been a month, after all!)
I too had problems at the beginning with that "multichannel Instrument" business with the Virus TI. The way i got around it was by importing the Virus TI environment layer from the Access Logic tutorial session into my Autoload session (which opens by default when i start Logic as a template)
    To do this:
-Make sure you have the Tutorial session on your hard drive
    -open the environment
    - go to: option>import environment>layer
This will open a browser which lets you select a Logic session (in this case the Access tutorial) from which to import an environment layer.
Once you have selected the Session, you can select the layer to import (in this case the "Virus TI" layer.
Once this is done, you should have that layer with the Virus TI plugin opened on Instrument Track 97 (not sure why they put it on 97, but it works, and i must say i haven't bothered to change it).
On the same layer, you should have 16 instrument channels, all assigned to "Inst 97: Virus TI", but each assigned to 16 MIDI channels.
By double clicking on each track, they should appear in the arrange page separately (but NOT in the Channel Mixer, where you'll only get 1 Inst track which controls the Virus's global volume/pan, as the Virus only has 4 USB bus outputs, of which only 2 are used by default, but more on this later...).
In the arrange page, you can now sequence and automate for each Virus channel separately.
Getting back to the Virus's USB outputs: The Virus is only a USB 1 device, which means it's audio bandwidth is rather limited (12Megs per second). Because of that, the Virus only provides 4 mono USB outputs, selectable as single or stereo outputs in the plugin's "common" page.
As i said, the Virus outputs everything on stereo output "USB1 L+R" by default, BUT, you can make any of the 16 channels output to the other Stereo output ("USB2 L+R") and create an Aux track in the environment, and assign that track's input to Inst 97> Virus TI 3-4 (you can also create mono Aux tracks, and route the Virus's outputs separately as mono tracks)
This is useful if you want to assign a plugin effect to a Virus sound, but i must say i never use it, as I find it better to just bounce all the parts separately before I mix a song, but hey! different strokes! so it's good to know.
One last thing, don't despair if you get hanging notes or tempo drifts from the TI. It will get more stable the more you use it until it's fully integrated in you DAW.
I know this sounds like nonsense, but it seems the computer needs to get used to running the TI.
Mine is now absolutely spot on, and doesn't give me any issues, but at the beginning i thought it was defective as it was so unstable.
Finally, make sure you download the latest drivers from Access, as they have improved the overall system a lot since version 1.0 of the TI plugin (now on version 2.5.1), and also download the sound banks on their website, they're all completely free, and add hundreds of really cool presets to an already really cool synth...
    Hope that helped!

    Hi
As far as I know Satellite 1415-S105 in US notebook. You can download Alps Touchpad Driver for Windows XP/2000 for your machine and try to install it again.
Go to http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_home.jsp . Under Downloads you can select your model. On the list you can find Alps Touchpad Driver for Windows XP/2000 Version 5.4.301.5. Try to install it again. Maybe helps.

  • Someone, anyone, please help me with my Nokia 6600

    My Nokia 6600 displays:
SysApp: Unable to perform operation.Delete some data first.
I dont have running applications except the phone itself.  I still have enough memory in my drive C, D, and E.
I have reformatted my handset and MMC but it still has the same problem.
What must I do? Is it a virus? Please help me.

it is not very likely that it is a virus as you would have to allow it on your handset say by accepting bluetooth files from people you don't know or using cracked apps. did you update your firmware to the latest one possible? perhaps try this and see if it solves this issue. if not the only thing for you left to do is to go to nokia care and have them have a look at your phone.

  • Toshiba Satellite L555 freezing up! (Tech Head Challenge) Please Help!

It's been happening lately. My Toshiba Satellite(windows 7 home permium 64 bits) has been freezing up with multiple, thin, multi-colored lines with a noise similar to when a sound track on a CD sticks or freezes and no mouse response or any kind of response at all. I have to press and hold the power botton and force it to shut down. I noticed it does this more often when I try to play a video game, virus scan, video call on Skype and less frequently on youtube (youtube might just be a coincidence). Sometimes after the computer restarts and I virus scan or Skype then I have no problems. I think it happens when I virus scan or skype when I have both multiple firefox and google chrome windows open at once but I cannot be sure. I've tested the theory a few times but it's inconclusive however I am confident that virus scans or video game are most likely to trigger the freeze even if they are the only thing I have open on the screen.
Sometimes I get that message in the blue box that says "Windows is shutting down to prevent damage to your computer....." The strange thing is that after I force it to shut down if I try to restart it immidiately then it will boot. All the lights will come on except the orange one in the left hand corner, the screen does not come on and windows does not load. If I leave it for 30  minutes or sometimes less after it crashed then it will restart .The funny thing is that I had this problems about 8 months ago when I tried playing a video game called A.V.A. About 2 minutes into play it would freeze with the same noise I mentioned earlier.I repeatedly tried to play the game and it happened every single time and everytime I force shut down the laptop and try to restart it right after then windows will not load and the orange light does not come on. I removed the game and reinstalled it and I never had that problem again.Since I got the laptop it has randomly restarted like 4 times and I've had it for about 1 year and 2 months but now it is just freezing up (mostly) or I get that message in the blue box. At around April of this year the game stopped working. I keep getting error reports when I try to reinstall it and my windows no longer recongnized the digital signature of the company that made the game.
I'm not sure if it's overheating,I have a hard drive or motherboard problem or if it's a software problem. I've tried:
    System Restore
    Defrag
    Disc Clean up
Non of these have helped. I've also tried using SeaTool for Windows to try to look for errors in my hard drive and it has not found any. I've also done that thing where Windows, with the black screen and white text, check through your files for errors and corrupted stuff but that report says that it hasn't found any errors at all. My computer has no slow down in performance that I can notice. It doesn't take long to start up nor does it take long to shut down. I don't get random error reports or anything like that. It works fine except for the freezing bit.
The fan seems to be working just fine and the latop doesn't get that hot. Sometimes it freezes when it's barely warm to the touch and other times it would be significantly warmer but it would not freeze even if I have multiple firefox and googlechrome windows open. Before all of this when my game was working I use to play for hours with the exhaust at the side significantly heating up the desk and the computer would run perfectly without problems except that brief period I mentioned earlier where the game froze 3 minutes in to actually playing the game, reinstalled it and solved the problem. Yesterday it froze on me while I was on skpye and today it froze on me about 5 minutes after windows log in on youtube without the computer getting hot, just barely warm. I just don't get it!
I've try using a vaccum to clean the vents without opening the computer. I've removed and reinserted my memory just incase they were loose and I've also removed and reinserted the hard drive to be sure that it was in properly and that has not stopped the problem either.
N.B. I did do a virus scan with a trial version of Kaspersky Pure that I installed less than a month ago and it does say that I have a virus called "virus heur trojan.script.iframer" and a medium and high risk events. I've tried to remove or quarantine them but nothing happens and when I scan again with Kaspersky Pure or Kaspersky Virus removal tool they find no viruses BUT the trojan report is still there with the option of removing and quanrantine.
As I've said before I've seen no slow down in performance and it works just fine except for the freezing and the blue box message. The only noticeable problem is that both firefox and googlechrome have been just a little, little bit buggy in that sometimes I would have to close down a window and reopen it again because the pages were not loading but that's only on Facebook and a few other websites and I thnk that's because of my internet connection. As I said, I've gotten no random error reports, not from windows 7 or my browser.
    Please help!

It sounds sort of like it could be related to overheating, but on the other hand, you specifically said that it doesn't always feel warm. If you're okay with backing up your files, you might want to perform a full recovery back to factory default conditions. At that point, you'd at least know whether it was due to hardware or software.

    Hi please help.
I have a iPad 2 , not jail broken, just 2 months old fresh from the apple store. Recently I have been directed to **** sites or a fake bad oink **** application, through various applications. From google chrome app, the photon app and safari.
I always delete cookies and cache on exit. I use photon and puffin to watch flash player videos on tv series site with links such as put locker. I heard that there is no virus for the iPad but Trojans do exist.
Pleae help, at first this was just happening with photon app now in 3 different apps, and it is directing me always to the same **** site. I don't watch **** so it's. it from cookies or whatever and my iPad has been randomly turning off and also the videos are working really badly now. Also there is a message red alert staying untrusted site and hacker may be intercepting your device. What is going on? Please help
Is their a new redirecting Trojan or virus for iPad 2. ? If yes how can I remove it and will it cause permanent damage to my device? How could I have got this virus and in 3 apps. I'm also, worried as I use my iPad to buy things online etc with my credit card. What shall I do?.. Do I restore my device? How do I do that as I cannot connect to iTunes as I do not have a computer, just my iPad. Any help appreciated thanks.

They broke a story on sept 4, 2012 titled "apple's iOS, the new favorite malware victims"
Despite the dramatic title of the article, the only mention of iOS in the body was this:
Even though malware is increasing in iOS, it still remains relatively low compared with other operating systems.
And, it provides no examples or other documentation. And, unlike you, I don't consider CNET "the most legit tech site on the internet". I find them to be generally biased in their reiviews and heavily influenced by advertisers.

The Forbes article descibes issues with the Mac OS, of which there always have been some, though certainly far fewer than there have been on the Windows platform. It goes on to speculate :
All those iPads, iPods and iPhones? Is this going to be a juicy enough target for the virus and trojan writers to at least attempt to attack, even given the difficulty of doing so?
Again, the Forbes article doesn't mention any current viruses, trojans or malware that exist which will affect an unjailbroken iOS device.
    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/15/iphone-malware-kaspersky_n_1515074.html
And, the HuffPo article quotes Grebennikov thusly:
"Our experience tells us that in the near future, perhaps in a year or so, we will see the first malware targeting iOS," Nikolai Grebennikov, Kaspersky's chief technology officer, told Computing.
Again, even Kaspersky doesn't say such things exist now, merely that they might.
Speculation about what might happen in the future or articles focusing on the Mac OS or Android are not terribly relevant. So, if you do have any other citiations, preferably from a source that doesn't derive most of is revenue from the companies it reviews, that document a virus or trojan that affects an unjailbroken iOS device, I would be interested. I have not been able to find any. I thought, perhaps, as a professional, you might know of some.
    Thank you.
