Satellite 1905-S303: Plastic trim parts

I am trying to get hold of the plastic trim part which conceals the LCD connector. It goes on the base between the hinges above the keyboard. This part was missing when I got the laptop, I would even consider a broken one that I might be able to repair if that's all that is available. Surely Toshiba must make spares available for these.

HI Shaun,
The following url is for a US parts company :_

You may have better luck contacting a local Toshiba Service Agent who should be able to get the part that you need.

  • Satellite 1905-S303 - fan turns on every 2 minutes

Hey guys, Thanks for your help in advance.
I just noticed that my laptop fan turns on pretty often.
    I have a Satellite 1905-S303.
How often you ask? - The fan turns on about every 2 minutes, then it stays on for about 1 minute. ( So the cycle takes about 3 minutes). This keeps going all the time, even if the computer is doing nothing at all.
Other than that, the computer seams fine. The computer does NOT shut down as if overheated.
    Is this normal?
I just noticed this, and don't remember if it always did this. (Although i don't think so)
ps - i tried dusting the computer air vents with compressed air, but nothing changed.
Other than that, the computer seams to be running fine.
    Thanks guys!

OK. From what you're saying, it sounds like having the fan on this 3-minute cycle (non stop, one cycle after another) is fine. Is this correct?
Also I dont think i have Toshiba Power Saver, but i do have what is called Toshiba Power Management Utility. In it, there is an Advanced tab, where i can choose the Cooling Method. Currently Cooling, Method is: Max Performance. There is also Mid Performance, and Silent Mode. Do you think that is similar to what your talking about?
    Thanks Jeffrey!! Thanks guys!

  • Satellite 1905-S303 PCI wireless card won't start code 10

I've put a broadcom BCM94306PM PCI wireless card in my laptop. The laptop is equipped with antenae however one is damaged and can't be connected, these cards can work with one side only and I've even read somewhere that they can work over a short range with no antenae. My problem is device manager states that the device cannot start code 10. I have a clean install of XP Pro with SP1 (not from the original restore disc). With this in mind I suspect that there must be some Toshiba utility or driver missing to allow the card to work. Any help appreciated.

I've downloaded drivers that others have stated are for this wireless card but I'm not able to find drivers that work. I've heard speak of a Toshiba Wireless LAN manager type of utility but I can't find any other reference to this on Toshiba site. This is not an original Toshiba wireless card, but I thought you could just plug any mini PCI device in and install drivers to suit. Is this not the case? The person that I purchased the card from says that some manufacturers prevent use of third party PCI devices. I find this unlikely. Could this card really be broken?

  • How can I turn on the mini-PCI WiFi card on Satellite 1905-S301?

greetz! I have installed an optional mini-PCI wireless LAN card into my Toshiba Satellite 1905-s301 notebook and turned on its power switch. MS WXP Pro SP2 recognized the hardware and installed its drivers - there is no cross or question mark next to the Atheros AR5001X+ Wireless Network Adapter in the Device Manager. However the Wireless Network Connection Manager is telling me there is no wireless adapter present. When hitting Fn+F8 a window pops up saying There is no build-in wireless LAN.
What do I need to do to enable my optional wireless LAN mini-PCI card??? If possible, email your suggestions to my email, please!

    Hi
You have to enable the WLan switch at the notebook side!!!
Additional select the WLan card properties and check the Advanced tab.
There should be an option called Radio on/off. You have to set it to on.
    greetings

  • Satellite 1905-S301: Virus changed notebook model name?

I think my Satellite 1905-S301 has been exposed to a virus. It's the worst I've ever seen: it deleted my antivirus (AVG free), firewall (Zonealarm) and Spybot; disabled WinXP security center, firewall and automatic update; I'm unable to go into safe mode (blue screen at start up); and I can't even use the recovery CD because it changed my machine to a 1900-801. This virus seems like it has intelligence.
Anyone know how I can force the Recovery CD to restore my system?

Update: After frantic googling, I think the virus responsible for this mayhem is the W32.Beagle trojan.
At first I used Panda ActiveScan (http://www.pandasoftware.com) and found the m_hook.sys. Upon further diggging in regedit, I found out it's in the "hidires" directory, however, the folder is hidden by "rootkit" method. I then used F-Secure Blacklight (http://www.f-secure.com/blacklight/) to reveal and rename the files in hidires, which were deleted afterward.
So now my system is no longer infected and I have my defences back, but I still can't use my recovery CD because the virus' changed the model number. Any help?

  • White plastic trim has split near keyboard

    Hi.
I own a white MacBook which was bought in December 06. Recently I noticed that a small piece of the plastic trim that surrounds the keyboard had come loose. Because it's right underneath where my right palm sits when I type, it has not cracked and a 2cm piece of the trim has actually snapped off, leaving a gaping hole!
Has anyone else had this problem? Will I have to get a whole new keyboard? And are Apple taking any responsibility for it? Ie will they fix it for free? Doubtful as my warranty has recently expired but is it worth a shot?
Such a shame. I love my little MacBook!
    Thanks for any info.

    Hi!
If you take a minute to review recent threads in this section you will notice that it is an acknowledged flaw in the macbook design. From what I have read Apple has done in store replacements of the top piece of macbooks for customers who have had this problem. Even when their warranties are out of date. At your earliest convenience I would take it down to them and explain your situation.
Hope you get it fixed! If not the top case can be bought on ebay for 30-40 dollars and is a fairly simple switch .
    Regards,
    Billy

What you need is exact part number for all these parts and Toshiba service can help you with this.
They have access to Toshiba database and can get exact part number and part description for you.
Of course you can order these parts by service directly.
To be honest I don't think anyone here can help you with this.
What you can do is to buy some defective Satellite A60 on eBay and use all parts you need to repair your notebook.

    Hello
I think nobody here can anwer your question: Its only a user to user forum and you will not find any notebook technicians here they can tell you the part number of the screen.
If you want to know it you should contact an ASP. They can order all original Toshiba parts:

  • Satellite L455D-S5976: Disk system part deleted

    Hi!!!!
    Configuration:
    TOSHIBA Satellite L455D-S5976
    AMD Sempron SI-42
    2GB DDR2 RAM, 250 GB HDD
I have trouble with my Hard disk.
The disk configuration was like this:
Part C: System about 300 Mb
Part D: second part about 120 Gb
Part F: third part about 120 Gb
I tried to reset this configuration like this:
Part C: Primary part about 120 Gb
Part D: Second part about 120 Gb
Part F: System about 300 Mb
So I delete the system part and configuration completed succefully.
But now It's impossible to install the system on the computer.
Is it possible to restore the small system part?
    Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you created restore discs when you got the computer, you can use them to completely recover your computer to factory defaults. If not, you'll need to order recovery media from Toshiba.

  • HP TouchSmart tm2t-2100 plastic body part replacement

my friend () dropped a laptop and cracked plastic rim around display. Although the laptop continues to function without a problem, the aesthetics appearance is bothering her. The laptop is still under warranty, but I doubt the repairs can be done  for free.
    My questions are:
    1. is it possible to order the broken plastic part?
    2. how much would HP charge for the replacement?
    3. is there a third party repair centers who can order and replace the part?

  • How to trim part of a filename?

    Hello Experts
One of my computers got infected by a virus. It changes the name of many files to
(!! to get password email id 1576391191 to [email protected] !!).exe
Here a look of one PDF file that has been renamed by that virus
Risk Management Practices at Industrial Facilities.pdf(!! to get password email id 1576391191 to [email protected] !!).exe
Since not all files are PDF the similarity on each of them is the  part after (!! ......... !!).exe.  How to I tell powershell to trim that part of the file name?
    Thanks!!

This should work (it worked on two files for me) :
    $SrcDir = "c:\temp"
    Foreach ($File in (Get-ChildItem $SrcDir | ?{$_.Name -match "^.*\(\!\!.*\!\!\)\..*?"})) {
    Rename-Item $File.FullName ($File.Name -replace "\(\!\!.*\!\!\)")
If the files are spread all over your entire hard drive, change "c:\temp" to "c:\" and add -recurse after the Get-ChildItem command:
    $SrcDir = "c:\"
    Foreach ($File in (Get-ChildItem $SrcDir -recurse | ?{$_.Name -match "^.*\(\!\!.*\!\!\)\..*?"})) {
    Rename-Item $File.FullName ($File.Name -replace "\(\!\!.*\!\!\)")
But note that it will most likely take some time to process so be patient.  It is also targeting any file with (!! !!) before the extension, not the entire string you specified, so hopefully you haven't any other files named similarly.
I hope this post has helped!
