Satellite 2410-414 soundcard input mono or stereo?

Is there a way to record in stereo from an external sound source using the yamaha ac-xg soundcard? Is there a way to activate the line-in in the audio and volume settings? Can the input socket be set up for stereo recording or does it only record in mono?
Cheers

A three-conductor mini jack would suggest stereo possibilities. However, even stereo microphones record in mono.
So does this mean: no external stereo recording possible?
There's no out of the way setting to change?
Anybody found a compatible USB or firewire interface that enables stereo recording? (M-Audio, Presonus, Creative?)

  • Input mono or stereo ?

    Hi there,
I just bought a Saffire Pro 40 audio interface.
The salesman say I should set the input source of the 8 vocal singers to all mono.
But when I came back I saw that in the input source of track 1, there is a settings for 1/2 stereo.
Why did the salesman ask me to record in mono rather than stereo ?
    Thanks
    Best regards,

In short, a single voice is a mono source. If each voice has their own microphone then each should be recorded in mono. If you have many voices but only 1 mcrophone, then you may have different dynamics coming from different sides of the room. If you were standing in front of the group you would be getting different types of information from left and right sides. A stereo recording would capture this information better.
Check this article out http://www.audiorecording.me/recording-vocals-at-home-in-mono-or-stereo-how-to-r ecord-vocals-properly.html
Lol... its late... just read the article and you should be good.

The audio sockets used on the slot cover of Sound Blaster cards accept (/8-inch) miniplugs.

Line-In is stereo. Mic-In is mono.

  • Master mono or stereo

I noticed, opening a new session in 6 tonight, that it says the master is mono.  Shouldn't the master be stereo by default?
Next question: how do you know whether a given track in Multitrack is mono or stereo?  I don't see that information in the clip information window.

Damn I think I tend to get lots of them 'idiot tracks' - just depends on the clients that come through the door
    Could it be Individual/Dual Input/Output Track (i.d.i.o.t)??
@ therealdobro: But seriously - check where you have routed the master channel - maybe you sent it to a mono outout?

  • Memory expansion on Satellite 2410

    Hi
I am planning to expand the memory of my Satellite 2410-601. It has 256 MB DDR at present. I am planning on using one more 256 memory module to expand the total memory to 512 MB.
What I would like to know is whether I can use any of the DDR memory modules available in market? Would there be any compatibility issues?

    Hi
    Do you know this site?
    http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=5548&ft=m&st=3
Here you can find the details about compatible memory modules for Satellite 2410-601.
It seems that the notebook is able to handle the 200-Pin PC2100 (266MHz) DDR SODIMM memory modules!!!
You could upgrade the memory up to max 1GB (2x 512MB)
    >Would there be any compatibility issues?
Generally you shouldnt have any compatibility issues. Its only important that you use the supported modules.
    Greetings

  • Memory upgrade on Satellite 2410

    Hi.
I have a Satellite 2410-703 and i'd like to upgrade my ram to 1024. Now there are two SoDimm 256Mb@266Mhz (Pc2100).
My question is: may I use other Kingston module at 333 or 400 Mhz?
    Are they compatible?
    Thanks a lot.
    Antonio

Maybe this site could help you:
    http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=6083&ft=m&st=3
Generally you can also use the RAM modules with the 400Mhz speed because the notebook supports an FSB 400Mhz.
But its important that you use the right module specifications like 200-Pin PC2100 DDR SODIMM
    Hopefully I coudl help you

  • Satellite 2410-404: RAM Extension general Questions

There are two two memory modules(256+256) installed on my notebook Satellite 2410-404. There are two memory slots on my notebook. I want to extend the memory, but I could not find the answers to my questions though i searched in the manual, and at this website and this forum... My questions are
    1. Can I extend memory by 256 MB by exchanging the 256 Memory module by 512 MB module? What kind of memory module should i take?
    or
    2. Schould i change both memory modules simultaneously? What kind of memory module should i take?
    3. What can i do with the old memory modules?
    Thank you in advance,
    Vladimir

I am really confused now because
    1. in the printed manual i found the following text: "You can install 128MB or 256MB memory modules in both memory slots to extend RAM upto 512 MB"
    2. Kingston site says the same: one can extend RAM upto 512 MB

    3. Product details say that the RAM can be extended upto 1024MB

    Hi Guys,
I hope someone can help...I have a Satellite 2410-504 which is nearly 4 years old pretty good spec for time. I thought it had wireless built in...it has on/off switch and LED light, however I cannot find it in device manager...on removing undercover for wireless it is empty....I have bought a Belkin Cable router for NTL cable....what would be the best option to make it wireless or is it already...could someone advise.

    Hi
As far as I know the wireless card is optional on this unit. This means that you can upgrade your notebook with the miniPCI wireless card which you can put into the wireless slot.
    You can use these cards:
Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card (2,4GHz, 802.11a/b) PA3273U-1MPC
Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card (2,4GHz, 802.11b) PA3212U-1MPC

  • Hard Disk Upgrades on Satellite 2410

I know that I can just stick any drive that will fit in, but my question is:
Can I just use the recovery CD that came with my laptop to re-install windows XP onto the new hard disk, or do I have to get a seperate copy of XP?
The model of laptop is a Satellite 2410-something, and has 30Gb and I was thinking of going for a 80-100Gb disk.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi James,
Your recovery CDs will work with whichever hard drive you choose to install.
With regard to your choice of drive please be careful with your choice of rotation speed. Your notebook has cooling only for the CPU heatsink so any extra heat generated by your hard drive will need to be able to dissipate naturally. The faster rotation speed on 5400 and 7200 RPM drives naturally generate more heat and this can cause problems for your notebook.
Obviously if you are not using disk intensive applications this can be lessened by allowing the hard drive to power down when not in use.
By the way I use a 5400RPM 80GB drive in my SA30 and the extra heat produced is only in evidence when I run a full virus/malware scan followed by a defrag and full image backup, and believe me the casing gets very hot indeed in the vicinity of the hard drive.
    regards,

  • Is CPU upgrade on Satellite 2410-303 possible?

My Satellite 2410-303 has Pentium 4 Mobile 1.7GHZ processor. I want to upgrade its processor to Pentium 4 Mobile 2.8GHZ. I think that it is possible because its upper models have faster processor and that is unique difference between them.
Please, help me for this question and tell me is it possible?

    Hello
You will be very lucky if someone has so good experiences with CPU upgrade on Satellite 2410 but on this forum you can find very nice comments about that. I have founded just two of them but very interesting. Check it out!

  • Satellite 2410-413: USB2 PCMCIA card doesn't work

Good morning. It is my first time on a forum, and my English is poor.
I have tried to install a PCMCIA card with 4 USB-2 ports (hw & sw) on my Satellite 2410-413 in order to use a DTV dongle (hw & sw).
It will not work: The ports seem to be declared all right in the computer but in effect, a simple 64 MB USB-2 memory key [a Sony "micro-vault" key), will not work, and neither will the Winfast DTV dongle.
Paradoxically, both the mem key will work on any of the three USB-1 ports, and the DV dongle will light up on any USB-1 port. The PCMCIA card with 4 USB-2 ports is new. I cannot locate the origin of the problem.
Would any one help me with this question?
Thank you in aadvance for your reply. Here is (maybe ?)
Another way of formulating the question: how are USB ports managed by the system?

    > Hello Rasta

    Many thanks to you Mike30.
I have a couple of ideas now:
    - supplying the USB2 card with additional power (ie other power than computer), (but how?)
    - uninstalling and further, re-installing the USB2 "Truewin" PCMCIA card bus, and after that trying the "leadtek-brand" DTV sw.
    Cheers,

  • Change Mixdown from Mono to Stereo

I'm sorry if this has come up previously but I coudn't find anything that exactly related to my situation.
First let me say I bought CS5.5 about two years ago and after trying it a few times, I found I did not like all the "missing functions like Group Tracks and the fact that it seemed to work slower than my old 1.5.
Recently I decided to give it another try and be  patient. I had to assembe two VOs with SFX and various production music beds. When I was happy with the mix, I was ready to do a mixdown...only to discover that my mixdown was in Mono. Mono? I tried to find where to convert it to stereo. After searching help and then this forum, it appears that there is no way to choose Strero or Momo....except apparently only when initially naming the Multitrack session. SAY IT AIN'T SO!!!    Does this mean I have to start all over with a new session file and spend all that time again?   If this is so, WHY would they remove the option to mixdown in Mono OR Stereo which seem so common sense and was an option in previous Audition versions.  I never understood software developers who seem to want to take away functions that worked.
Am I wrong? Is there any way to choose or change a mixdown in a session? I like choice. Choice is good.
    Cheers
    RoosterKoop Ken

For clarity's sake, a stereo track with audio on one side is still a stereo track, not a mono track.  So you're not really changing mono to stereo, you're just routing the active channel to fill both left and right sides.  There are a number of ways to do that.  I like #3 myself.

  • Are iPad and iPhone built in microphones mono or stereo?

    That's my question.

He assumed that you were hoping the mic would be stereo. As I said, though, for most use cases, a mono mic is just fine (or even better). What use do you have in mind. The only situation in which a stereo mic would be better is if you're going to record a stage or room full of musicians playing. If you're recording voice memos, or even recording yourself playing a single instrument, a stereo mic is unnecessary.
That said, we still haven't completely resolved whether the built-in mic is mono or stereo. The tech specs on apple.com don't specify, but I am 99.9% certain that it is mono.

  • NEC ND-6500A DVD+-R/RW drive in Satellite 2410-504?

Can anyone tell me if an NEC ND-6500A DVD+-R/RW drive will work in my Satellite 2410-504 notebook? I have tried fitting one supplied new but the BIOS did not recognise it and gave an IDE #1 error message on boot up. I don't know yet if this was a faulty drive or if the drive is just not compatible. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi
Well, as far as I know on the official way you can change the region settings 5 times.
Furthermore you can check some other topics in the forum.
