Satellite 2450: How to reinstall WXP on existing partition from recovery disc?

Hello:
This question has been asked before, but the answer is as follows:
On this forum you can use Advanced search option to find some solutions if someone wrote about it before.
Anyway check this please
http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=2513&tstart=125
I checked this and it gives an answer how to create a partition but not how to reinstall xp in the c drive from the recovery disk.
There is the choice to go to expert, but once there I have no idea what to do. Lots of potential settings, but nothing to say how to reinstall xp without wiping out all the other drives.
Thanks for any help

Hello tw
Like I said in my explanation If you want to install OS on a partition please use Expert mode. In this case the software can be installed onto an existing partition. You can also make one by yourself.
If you want to install the OS on existing partition make it on this way:
1) put Recovery CD or DVD in DVD drive
2) pres power button and after that press and hold down C button
3) after short time there is an menu and choose Expert mode pressing number 2
4) Approve OK pressing ENTER button
5) Choose LOCAL > PARTITION > FROM IMAGE
6) Look in: must be selected to CD-ROM drive and In the middle window choose GHO file and press ENTER
7) The information about drive will be shown > press ENTER again
8) The local destination drive will be shown > press ENTER again
9) The next window show both partition if you have two of them. On this place you must chose the destination partition (the first one is under Part 1)
10) The OS will be installed on marked partition (you can change it using UP and DOWN buttons)
11) If the partition is selected press ENTER button
12) The small Information window appear with follow content: Proceed with partition load? Destination partition will be permanently overwritten.
13) Confirm with OK
I hope that your installation will be successful.
If you have more questions please write again and I hope that we will find an solution.
Good luck!

  • HT1338 How to Reinstall ilife apps and ICal from Original disc...

My hard drive crashed. With my new hard drive, I somehow no longer have Calendar (iCal), Pages, Numbers or Keynote. I have my original discs from getting my computer July of 2011. How do I reinstall the apps I've lost? I don't want to mess up any other data!
    Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion. I unpacked iCal from the CD using Pacifist. However the iCal application still does not work. I get an error message saying the iCal version 3.0.8 does not run with the current version of the operating system (OS X 10.6.8).  I have also tried reinstalling a copy of iCal (version 4.0.4) from a Timemachine backup made a month or so ago - but same problem it won't run and the error message says its the wrong version for my operating system.  Worse still iMail has stopped working as well and offers up a similar error message (iMail version doesn't work with this version of the OS).  This is baffling because the entire operating system and bundled applications were re-installed in January this year by a Mac dealer when the hard drive was replaced.  The Timemachine backup was done in May when everything worked so it is hard to understand why restoring the same version of iCal does not work now.
Seems Macs are great when they work but impenetrable for the average user when things get out of sync.

  • How to reinstall CS6 InDesign by itself from the CS6 Design and Web Premium Student and Teacher Disc?

    Hello,
I would like to know how to reinstall the CS6 InDesign. Is it possible to do it without reinstalling the entire disc?

The CS6  Suite is already installed in the Mac pro using Yosemite. When I went to open InDesign its said something about it could not open and metioned a plug in couldn't open please reinstall InDesign. That's why I was asking how to reinstall it from the disc it came from without reinstalling the entire suite again from the disc? It wasn't downloaded online. Is it possible?

  • HT1349 How do I go about installing software from a disc onto my ipad2? I have no external drive, but do have a PC with iTunes on it. Someone suggested I could load it into iTunes and then sync with the iPad, but this suggestion doesn't seem to work.

How do I go about installing software from a disc (a language programme) onto my ipad2? Someone told me if I downloaded it to iTunes on my PC I could then sync it to the iPad but hav not been able to do that.

Even if there was a convenient way, the software will not run on the pad.  Ios is a unique language, and only programs written for ios will run on the pad.   All of the programs are in the app store.  You might look there and see if the company that makes your sfotware also has an ios version, which would be in the store.

  • How can i download office for mac from a disc to my macbook air?

how can i download office for mac from a disc to my macbook air?

You have four options that I know of.
    1) Use an external DVD drive that will work on the MBA. (Apple's external Superdrive for MBA)
    2) Use a remote disk connection, using another Mac with a DVD drive, and sharing the drive with the MBA.
    3) Download Office from Microsoft's website, and then use only the registration code that came with your DVD purchase to authorize the registration.
    4) Copy the contents of the Office DVD to a USB flash drive, using another computer. Then install from that flash drive.
Maybe someone else has an idea, if none of the above will woek for you.

  • I reinstalled osx 10.8.2 from recovery disk, now verify disk says my hard drive is there but wont boot into it regardless which partition i select to boot into , everytime it boots me into the recovery, i need help!

Mb pro running like garbage with 10.8.2 tried a reinstall of osx from recovery utility now the utility says my hard drive is ok but wont boot into it keeps booting me back into recovery tried restart option to select disk tried using the select startup disk from recovery, gives a message asking if i really want to boot to it and in that message is the only rime it shows a question mark on the drive dont know what to do cant find similar issue

Your rushing and not making much sense.
Your machine was running like garbage, so you tried to reinstall 10.8---did you do this or not?
Disk Utility says your drive is ok, that's good.
But when you boot it keeps booting Recovery HD, so perhaps the firmware has made a mistake, it can forget.
You held the option key down to boot into Startup Manager, why didn't you select OS X for the boot volume?
When you get into OS X you change the Startup Disk in System Preferences, that should take care of the Flashing Question mark issue.
attemtping to ireinstall osx from recovery partition bar is full on install screen, but im now at -6hours remaining
So now your reinstalling OS X like you set out to do before, it does take some time as it has to download from Apple's servers.
If your Internet connection is slow and/or Wifi is slow then it will take awhile.
So you should have the Flashing Question Mark and Reinstall Only OS X covered.
You should be able to boot the machine, but your performance issues may be something else and still remain.

  • How to install window 7 from recovery disc

    DEAR TECHNICALSUPPORT
I have purchaase new recovery disc of window 7 and want to install in my hp pavillion g6 1201TX but there are not done from this method ..
Turn on the computer, and insert the first recovery disc into the drive.
Press and hold the power button to turn off the computer.
Disconnect all connected devices and cables such as Personal Media Drives, USB drives, printers, and faxes. Remove media from internal drives, and remove any recently added internal hardware. Do not disconnect the monitor, keyboard, mouse, or power cord.
    Turn on the computer.
Immediately press the Escape key repeatedly, about once every second, until a Startup Menu or Select boot device menu opens.
The selections you need to make vary slightly depending on the type of menu that appears on your screen:
If a Select Boot Device menu displays, use the up or down arrow key to select the CD/DVD drive, and then press Enter to continue.
If a Startup Menu opens, press F9 to open "Boot Menu" or "Boot Device Options". Use the up or down arrow key to select the CD/DVD drive. Then press Enter.

  • Reinstalling Mac OS X Lion from recovery encounter Problem

I am trying to install my OS X from recovery. When I select reinstall in Utilities and then click on continue, after a while it says that: " your disk cannot save the installation information please contact apple. please tell me what can I do

If you have erased the disk, then be sure you have used the proper schema:
Partition type must be GUID; Format must be Mac OS Extended, Journaled. Are you doing this from the Recovery HD? If so, then see:
Install or Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • How to Reinstall Windows on Existing Bootcamp Partition

I've been running Windows 7 under Bootcamp on my 2011 MacBookPro. I've run into a situation where Windows7 will no longer install updates. I worked one day with Microsoft for over an hour but they could not find what was causing the problem. FYI, when looking into this problem, the error code that is produced is Error Code 8007010B. I have found nothing substantial online in regards to this code.
I've used Winclone (a Mac application) in the past without issues to restore a Boot Camp Windows partition. Since purchasing Winclone 3.4 I've made several backups, but now that I am actually trying to restore one of those backups I'm getting a message:
"the image you are attempting to restore does not contain the correct information".
So I am frustrated and have emailed twocanoes.com, the Winclone publisher and waiting for their answer.
    Working with Bootcamp
I'm trying to figure out the steps I need to reinstall Windows from scratch in an existing bootcamp partition. Do I need to start from scratch with Bootcamp, or can I reinstall Windows from inside Windows? If I do the latter, how do I prompt Bootcamp to reinstall the Apple drivers?
    Other Issues FYI
I'm having trouble locating the Windows 7 instal DVD I originally purchased. I do have the serial number. So I've downloaded a copy of Windows 7 from the  MyDigitalLife Windows7 Repository.
I have burned the iso image to a DVD. I've got 2 versions, one is the .iso file burned onto the DVD, the other are the contents of the .iso file burned to DVD. I assume to install Windows, it will want the one with the contents of the Windows installer burned to it? Any other issues I may be unaware of regarding this kind of Windows install?
Is there any advantage of reinstalling Windows from a USB Flash drive as compared to a DVD? Just curious.
Finally, for Activation, because this copy of Windows is going back into the same Bootcamp partition on the same hardware, will I have to reactivate Windows? If so, suggestions appreciated.
    Thanks!
    -Dave

I appreciate the help. Can you tell me what are the steps to tell Bootcamp to install drivers into a Windows install? Thanks!
Update: I looked at the Bootcamp Assistant instructions and now I understand your answer. Info here:
"Step 4: Install the Windows support software
After installing Windows, install Mac drivers and other support software for Windows. The
support software installs Boot Camp drivers to support your Mac hardware, including AirPort
devices, the built-in camera, the Apple Remote, the trackpad on a portable Mac, and the function
keys on an Apple keyboard. The software also installs the Boot Camp control panel for Windows
and the Apple Boot Camp system tray item.
You can download the support software by selecting the “Download the latest Windows support
software from Apple” option in Boot Camp Assistant. The support software must be copied to a USB flash drive formatted in MS_DOS FAT. If the installer does not start automatically, doubleclick the setup.exe file in the Bootcamp folder."
If you or anyone have any other tips, they would be appreciated. As this appears to happen with Windows quite frequently, and I've had to do it multiple times over the years, I'm not looking forward to it.

  • Satellite A110 - How to reinstall Windows XP?

    Hi,
I have a very serious problem. I had to format my hard drive, and now, I want to reinstall Windows XP OS on my machine. The serial key is written under my keyboard, but I don't know how to specify it during the installation process.
Can i write an email to Toshiba asking for a new DVD copy of the OS?
    Thanks in advance.
    Dani

    Hi
Im a little bit confused now. Why do you want a new installation disk if you dont know how to use the product key on the bottom side?
Do you have a XP disk at the moment?
The product key on the bottom side of the notebook cant be used with a normal XP installation disk that you can buy in every computer shop. This is an OEM key and belongs to the preinstalled XP version.
So you can ask an authorized service provider for a new recovery disk or you buy a normal XP disk but then you have to use the product key that is delivered with the XP disk.

  • Satellite P25: How to reinstall original software without original drive working?

I have a P25 which has lost its screen and dvd.
Screen is black with a dim light (graphics control problem I am told by Toshiba repair - requires motherboard change = USD1000).
The DVD (Mat****u UJ-809?) makes sounds but is not recognizable by Windows.
So I now use it as a desktop with external screen, keyboard and DVD.
As with all Windows installation things got clogged up so I now had to reinstall the Windows MC that came with the machine. However, running the Recovery DVD from an external DVD reader does not work.
As it boots I get a DOS message that there is no DVD and a A> prompt.
I can install a new XP version, but then I miss all the MC features and have to install all P25 drivers manually.
I would be very grateful if anyone could assist.
(If somebody would have a clever idea about the screen as well, please let me know)
    Thanks,
    Tom

    Hello,
I can not say what tests your service repair ran, but the screen problem could likely be an Inverter issue. As for the dvd problem. I have heard that Toshiba laptops need the Toshiba external CD/DVD to boot or otherwise it will not work. I have not ever tried so I can not attest to this, but it could very well likely be that. Assuming that your CD/DVD is listed in hardware manager with a yellow exclamation mark do this, start->run->regedit then do the following.
go to hkey_local_machine, then system, CurrentControlSet, Control, Then class.
{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} This is your cd/DVD. Once there in the list to the right verify a component called UpperClass filter, click on it, hit delete, and delete it. Then do the same for lowerfilter. Delete both filters, then right click on My computer, on your desktop. Go to properties->hardware->Device manager. Right click on your cd/DVD and click disenstall. Then go to the top and click find new hardware. It should find your cd/DVD and reinstall the driver without any conflicts. Hope this helps.

  • How can I migrate an existing BP from one Unifier to another?

    Hi.
I have a question about BP transfer between Unifier systems.
I have modified "Purchase Orders" BP on my system. I can export the XML of the new BP.
How can I transfer this BP to another Unifier system with the same name, and modify "Purchase Orders" on that one.
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards.

Right, you can't change the name of an existing BP.  You can create a copy of an existing BP and rename that and modify it to suit your needs, and then as Sean states use the design bundling to import into the new system.  Unifier has serious controls over changes and/or deletion of existing BP's.
Your end production system should only have the final published BP's; and only the uDesigner personnel would see the older unused BP's.
