Satellite 320CDT: What drive is compatible?

Hi all,
I know it's old but I have a Toshiba 320CDT that has a knackered CD-ROM Drive (other than that it is very good)
The one fitted is a TEAC CD-220EA-32 (20X)
Can anyone tell me if a TEAC 224E P/N 1977047A-30 will fit as a replacement. This is 24X drive.
Many Thanks
Shane

Hi
Youre right, its really an oldie and therefore I dont found much information about this unit.
You know surely that not every internal drive is compatible because of the drive settings.
There are three possibilities: maser, salve and c-sel.
Unfortunately but its not known to me what settings the Satellite 320CDT uses.
But I think you should check the settings of the TEAC CD-220EA-32 (20X). Then you should know what settings the next drive must support.
In other way you can contact the Toshiba service partner in your country and ask the guys for the compatible drive.

Hi all, I've got the usual problem, i have a Satellite A60 with the pioneer DVR-K13A and guess whats, it's just out of warentee and it now doesn't read/burn cd's and dvd's.

So im going to replace the drive and my question is which drives can i replace it with? Can i replace it with a SD-R2412 drive?
Any info on direct replacements would be appreciated - thanks in advance.

  • Anyone know what drives are compatible with 1.67ghz powerbook g4?

I need to change my internal hard drive and I've been told that I can use several drives: Ultra-ATA, ATA 100, ATA-6 (all 2.5"). I also want to ugrade the drive's capacity. I currently have 100gb, I want 160 or better. Also would like to use 7200rpm but i don't know if my laptop is compatible.
Can I use a drive that is an ATA-7? I found online, but don't know if I can use it since it is not ATA-6.
Any suggestions on stores, drives, models, etc

Hi, omarakil. You can use any 2.5" ATA-6 or ATA-7 drive; an ATA-7 drive will operate at ATA-6 speed. You can use a 4200, 5400 or 7200 RPM unit, but to the best of my knowledge there are no 160GB or larger 7200RPM drives on the market, so if you want a very large one (160GB or 250GB), you'll be limited to 5400 RPM. Western Digital is currrently the only maker of a 250GB ATA drive; other manufacturers' offerings top out at 160GB. You can't use any Serial ATA (SATA) drive. Anything that isn't explicitly advertised as SATA is almost certainly ATA, also known as Parallel ATA or PATA.
In addition to Macsales.com, look at ZipZoomFly.com, NewEgg.com, and Buy.com for very large selections of drives at highly competitive prices.

  • Satellite C660 - What driver for brightness keys to work?

I did a clean install Windows 7 and installed all the drivers from the Toshiba site but my function keys are not working.
Any idea how I can make them work?

    Hello
As you can read in many other threads the FN keys require Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility. Both tools can be downloaded on official Toshiba website:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/ > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
Install Value Added Package at first, then Flash Cards Support Utility. After installation of both tools the FN keys will work as usual. :)

  • How can I determine what internal DVD drives are compatible w/ my G5?

I'd like to put a new DVD drive in my G5. It's one of the original 1.8 dual machines, with some extra RAM. I'm having trouble with the drive these days, and I'd like to figure out what drives are compatible. Thoughts?

I cannot speak for all drives but today I installed a Pioneer 710 ( same drive as 111 ) in place of the original Pioneer 106.
I have only tested it with Toast to burn a DVD-R and playing a CD and all is well.

  • Satellite A200-195: What CD/DVD drive is compatible?

    Hey Guys and gals,
I have had a look and asked Toshiba but no answer given so thought I would ask the experts here.
My DVD RW in my laptop TS L632D Has died and I need a new one.
So what one can I buy and fit without problems.
These drives are known to have issues with conflicts etc... so a different drive would be better.
So what do you guys and gals suggest.
    Cheers,
    Chris

    Hi
Thank you very much that you are seeing us as experts :)
We all here are Toshiba notebook users and as you probably dont know this is a user-to-user forum. :) so maybe not really experts ;)
To be honest its not known to me that this CD/DVD drive causes issue.
As you probably dont know every CD/DVD drive doesnt support all possible CDs or DVDs from different manufacturers.
Some CDs and DVDs are more compatible and some CDs or DVDs are not fully compatible.
However, the point is that you need a new CD/DVD drive.
I checked the A200 user manual (can be downloaded from the Toshiba page) and there is a list with some compatible drives.
Check the user manual page 6 and 7
You can also call the ASP in your country. The guys known what CD/DVD drives are compatible with your notebook!
    Bye

Does anyone know what the settings are, or what drive I could use to replace it with
    Thanks

    Hello
Please check Users manuals for Satellite A50 (pages 4-12) and there you will find which optical disc driver are compatible with your notebook.
If Users manuals is not saved on your unit you can find it under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com Support & Downloads Support Homepage Downloads.

  • I've got a late 2009 mac mini with a 320gb hard drive and I want to upgrade it to a 1tb drive or bigger. What HDDs are compatible with my mini?

I've got a late 2009 mac mini with a 320gb hard drive and I want to upgrade it to a 1tb drive or bigger. What HDDs are compatible with my mini?
Because of the price I'm not interested in solid state drives, unless of course you want to send me $1,000.
I've already got external drives but I take my mini back and forth to work and don't want to carry those drives with me.
I'm not interested in buying a laptop. My mini works great so why waste $1,000 or more when I can buy a 1 to 3 TB hdd for under $300 and have exactly what I want. My late 2009 Mac Mini with a large hdd.
I went to Crucial's website and they can't tell me what drives fit my Mac Mini. That's where I got my ram (8GB). I'm ONLY interested in name brand quality HDDs.

The limiting factor in your 2009 mini is the max 9.5mm drive thickness.
One of the largest capacity 2.5" drives that meets this criteria is the HGST (formerly Hitachi) at 1.5GB
Any reputable SATA HDD you can find that is not thicker then this 9.5mm will work.

  • Satellite Pro 6100: What drive and connection is supported - Master, Slave or CSEL?

    Hello,
i want to install a Pioneer DVR-K14L DVD writer.
After the installation, the notebook show me an
    error during the initialisation.
It is possible to use this type of Slimline DVD writer?
What kind of modus is important (master, slave or cable-select)?
    Thank you and
    best regards
    oelauge

    Hi
I assume you get an IDE# 1 error message. Am I right?
The fact is that not all drives are compatible with the notebooks.
I'm not sure which settings the supported drive should have. But I surmise it's could be a CSEL.
However, I have found this DVD-RW drive which should be compatible; the part number is P000366780
    http://www.getpartsonline.com/p000366780.html
But unfortunately, there is nothing about the pin assignment and the settings.
If you want to be 100% sure about the supported devices on your notebook so you should ask the Toshiba service partner in your country for the details

  • What DVD drives are compatible with Equium A60 PSA67E?

my question; what dvd drives are compatible for an equium a60 (psa67e-001001en)?
background; i did a very silly thing! whilst i was in japan and about 18 months after purchasing my a60 in the uk, the dvd drive packed up. i replaced it with a teac dvd drive and it worked like a dream! i threw the old drive away (i think it was a matsu****a, but can't remember the exact model). anyway, i came home and had a bit of spare time on my hands so i decided to tweak my machine and corrupted the windows xp registry.
Now the windows xp runs in a loop, i can't get access to it and i need to wipe the hard drive and start again basically. i put the recovery disk in, but the computer doesn't read from it and frustratingly finds its way to the loopy windows. i have determined that it is not recognising the teac drive that i used to replace the old one. i think if i put an original type back in, the firmware may recognise the drive and i'll be back in business.... or so i hope!
of course, any other advice would be gratefully received too! thanks.
work around??? ps... a work around i thought up... copy the contents of the recovery disk on to a hard drive (using my old computer) then swap the current hdd in my a60 with it... theory; when the computer finds the contents during booting, it will install xp on another part of that hard drive and i'll have a working machine again. could something like that work???????? any thoughts????

    thanks again friend!
as it turns out, that pioneer drive rung bells.
though my TEAC (DV-w28e) replacement looks identical to my previous drive and has worked ok with windows, at "the bios level" it is not being recognised... is that something you would have expected???? i must admit, with windows, the TEAC outperformed the original drive and was surprised it wasn't reading my recovery disk after my self infliction! i also tried using a usb hdd loaded up with the recovery disk and that didn't work.
but you answered my question so thanks a million for that.

  • Satellite 1410-714: What CPUs are compatible?

I have Intel Mobile Celeron 1.6GHz in my Satellite 1410-714. What CPUs are compatible ? Please write typ (Celeron or P4-M), speed, package and sSpec number. I found CPU Mobile Intel Celeron Processor 2.20 GHz SL73Y (http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SL73Y) - but I don't know if this CPU will fitt to my Satellite.
    Thank to all :)

    Hi
This notebook must be a little bit older. Am I right?
There are not many information when I try to google for this notebook model.
But I think I have found what you looking for :D
The motherboard should be compatible with this CPUs:
    Mobile Intel Celeron Processor 1.6GHz, 1.7GHz, 1.8GHz
Processor core speed: 1.6GHz at 1.45V
    Processor bus speed: 133MHz
    Mobile Intel Pentium 4 Processor-M 1.7GHz, 1.8GHz, 1.9GHz, 2.0GHz, 2.2GHz featuring Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology
    Processor bus speed: 400MHz
But you know, the faster CPU will produce more warmness and therefore the temperature will increase. This could lead to the overheating.

  • What external tape drives are compatible with sunblade 100s?

    hi,
    please, can anybody tell me:
    1. where i can find out whether or not a particular tape drive is compatible with my sunblade 100 workstation running solaris 9?
    2. do external tape drives usually connect to the workstation's serial port?
    3. what kind of specs/features should i be looking out for?
thanks in advance for your replies.

    sun-certified

I would imagine you could use any tape drive with your sun blade... most are connected by either scsi or fiber channel... there could be some that are network controlled... not aware of any that are controlled by serial port...
GOOGLE is a wonderful thing... try it, you will like it...
compatibility is more concerned with which OS and program you want to use with the tape drive...
specs depend on what you are backing up... a single user would most likely only need a single drive... if you were a multi-national corp, then maybe you might contact Sun Sales...
maybe you should to some research yourself...

  • Can I upgrade the processor on my laptop? If so, what processors are compatible for my system?

I have an HP Pavillion dv6-2150us, which runs an Intel Core i3 @ 2.13 GHz, 8 GB RAM and Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.  Can I upgrade this processor and if so, what processors are compatible to this system?

First think about memory and an SSD drive. Laptop processor upgrades are a big hassle and not cheap.

  • What drive in Mac Pro early 2008 or 2009?

I purchased a Western Digital Black 1Tb SATA hard drive and it did not work in any of my three Mac Pros (two are Early 2008, one is early 2009). It made a strange noise and was never seen by Disk Utility no matter what I did.
There are already three other drives in these machines, some of them are Western Digital drives and they work fine, but they were purchased years ago.
I returned the drive and purchased a Western Digital Red 1Tb drive in replacement. I chose a Red because I will be setting up a RAID system soon but needed it temporarily as storage in the Mac Pro. It didn't work at all in the Mac Pro Early 2008. At first it seemed to work but at restart, the system said the disk was not formatted, although I had formatted it successfully (but it really took a long time) with Disk Utility.
On the Mac Pro Early 2009 formatting was difficult. I tried to make two partitions instead of one and finally managed to format it and even copy some files to it. But Disk Utility couldn't verify it and Disk Warrior said it was having problems because of disk malfunction.
Apparently, I should be able to put a 1Tb disk in these machines, and the SATA 3 drives are supposed to be compatible with the SATA 2 of the Mac Pros. But it doesn't work although we spent hours trying everything and reading everything we could find on the subject.
My question is: are these drives supposed to work in older Mac Pros from 2008 and 2009?
If not, what drive should I purchase for these machines? I need a quiet, fast drive.
    Thanks.
    Ellen

Yes, I'm aware that SSD is the way to go. I have one (OWC Mercury Extreme Pro SSD), 480 GB, as my boot disk. It has the system and all my apps, plus my virtual machines for Windows. These are used very little, only to check if things we put on the web are OK in the various Win Browsers. But they need to be fast because otherwise, I'll go nuts.
About using SSD for Photoshop's scratch, I seem to remember reading something saying that it will reduce the drive's life somewhat. I don't know how much or if it matters, or if it's the better choice anyway.
Actually, the reason we still have these old Mac Pros (two for work, one for the server) is that, every year, we hoped to see some major improvement and put off upgrading because we didn't feel the new ones announced year after year would change our life.
We've been using Macs for almost 30 years now. The first was a Mac Plus 512k, in January 1985. (My first computer (in 1981) was a ZX81, with 1k of RAM... I did get a 16 k plug in extension though). We usually upgrade when the specs show a speed improvement of at least 4X, or when the architecture changes radically. All this to say we are now waiting to spend all our Christmas money on some shiny new tubular Mac Pros. We will then have to reconsider our whole setup,  and add some external Thunderbolt drives. At that time, I'll be back to discuss the best options. Till then, this will do.
And the reason we tried a Red was because we thought maybe we could use it later on a dedicated machine used only for music over the network. The drive is used just about continuously all day long. Bad idea obviously.
