Satellite A10-S213 - What WiFi card is compatible?

An old fellow gave me his toshiba Satellite A10-S213, but there's no wifi card in it:
Where can I find a suitable one (what references for).

Hi
Found this notebook specification page:
[Satellite A10-S213|http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=UK&com.broadvis ion.session.new=Yes&PRODUCT_ID=65865]
It seems that Wlan is upgradeable and you could use an miniPCI Wlan card which supports the 802.11 B standard.

  • HP Pavilion G6 1339SG - what wifi card is compatible?

Hi, I recently posted my question on the German HP forum, but I'll do it here once more =)I bought the following notebook (A9Y86EA#ABD, System ID = 1670, BIOS = F.66). It was installed a non compatibly wifi card: AR5B95.According to the manual (http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03094322) there are a lot of supported modules. I tried out an Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030, but unfortunately this card is incompatible, too. It seems, that there are already two incompatible cards according to the BIOS whitelist... Do you know which of the listed cards (in the manual) work exactly? Best regards from Berlin

Compatible wireless cards have to be not only the correct chipset but an actual HP logoed part. These are the correct parts that are compatible: Wireless (WLAN) module● Atheros 9285G 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter 580101-001● Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi and 2070 Bluetooth 2.1+EDR Combo adapter (BT3.0+HS ready) 600370–001● Broadcom 4313AGN 802.11a/b/g/draft-n WiFi Adapter 593836-001● Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030 + Bluetooth (802.11b/g/n) 631956-001● Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000 (802.11b/g/n) 593530-001● Ralink 5390GN 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi Adapter 630703-001● Ralink 5390BC8 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0+HS Combo Adapter 630705-001● Realtek 8188GN 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi Adapter 640926-001● Realtek 8188BC8 802.11a/b/g/n 2x2 WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0+HS Combo Adapter 602993-001● Atheros AR9002WB-1NGB 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR Combo Adapter 593127-001● Atheros 9285G 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi Adapter 605560-005● Atheros 9485GN 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi and 3012 Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Adapter 655795-001● Realtek RTL8188CE 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 LE Combo Adapter 656119-001● Broadcom 4313GN 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi and 20702 Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Adapter 657325-001 I am not a big Realtek fan but of these, the 8188BC8  would appear to be the most capable.  This is it on eBay Germany sehr billig: http://www.ebay.de/itm/NEW-HP-G62-CQ62-Realtek-Wireless-WIFI-WLAN-BlueTooth-CARD-611254-801-602993-001-/201397137482?hash=item2ee434704a Wenn Ich habe das Antwort gegeben, bitte markieren Sie als Loesung.

  • Satellite A10 S213 replacement of Hard Disk Drive

My Satellite A10 S213 is equipped with a Hard Disk Drive MK4021GAS HDD2182 B ZE01 S (40 GB) . The Disk is making more and more often loud and strange noises although it works well.
But it will certainly not go on for long.
I would like to replace the Disk Drive with something compatible and if possible with more capacity. Around 100 GB would be fine .
    So my question is :
    *Does a replacement of the HDD MK4021GAS HDD2182 B ZE01 S with more capacity exist for the Satellite A10 S213 ?*
    Thank you for your help.

    Hi
I assume your notebook supports the IDE HDD controller.
Possibly the IDE HDD controller supports only the 28bit LBA which would allows you to use max 120GB HDD.
I think you could install an bigger HDD.

  • What Wireless Card for Satellite A10-S213

    Hi,
My laptop is A10-S213. I am going to go wireless next week. I think I need to buy a wireless card in order to be wireless enabled. Could someone tell me _*WHAT*_ kind of card should I buy and _*WHERE*_ would be the best value place to get it from?
P.S.: I checked the product specification, it says 802.11b.
    Many thanks.
    Florence

    Hello
According notebook specification your A10 is WLAN ready and it can be upgraded with WLAN card.
As compatible cards I have founded Wireless LAN card PA3212U-4MPC (Agere 802.11b) and PA3273U-2MPC (802.11a/b). Google a little bit around and pick up info about price and shops where you can order it.
    Bye and good luck!

For video either the ATI HD 5770 or the ATI HD 5870 from Apple will work fine in your Mac Pro however you will not be able to take full advantage of the 5870 so it may be a waste. I use the 5770 with great results.
For Bluetooth I use the Belkin mini bluetooth adapter and it works great is is very small.
If you want the actual Apple Internal bluetooth card.
For the WiFi I use the original Apple WiFi cards but even a USB one thats Mac compatible will work fine.

  • Re: Does Satellite A10-S703 supports WLan card

I would like to know if my notebook has wireless network card Wi-Fi?
Toshiba Satellite A10-S703 Model No PSA10E-17UFC-AR

The Wlan card is optional in this notebooks series.
This means that some A10 could be equipped with the WLan card and some units are not delivered with the internal minPCI WLan card
You can check this very easily.
Access the device manger and extend the network adapters.
If a WLan card was installed then you should see it!

  • What wifi cards fit fully inside a (dual) PCMCIA slot?

Teh background and information (bonus funny story)
So I was poking my 9 year old laptop recently and amazingly found that via a USB wifi dongle I'd completely forgotten about for a few months, I could get wifi on said laptop, even over USB 1.1.
Then I tried to figure out how to shove the dongle inside my laptop and things kinda went south from there at about 2.7 billion miles a second.
Everything just went *flooooop* when I accidentally put the little PCB back inside the dongle the wrong way after taking it out to try and fit it inside a space inside the laptop; this wasn't problem, except I couldn't see the little blue LED. So I hastily took the board out to flip it over and I think I touched the it while doing so for the first and only fatal time...
I also tried to craft a cardboard plug to fit in the USB port on the laptop, and may have pushed the little contacts into the plastic recesses in the port a bit too much; this is unlikely to be the problem because I very carefully re-bent the contacts out again, and my flash disk works every time I plug it in, sooo... probably not that.
Anyway, now I know how to put my laptop back together again *doesn't say anything about the small collection of screws he has no idea what to do with*
Right now, my USB dongle kinda works but really sporadically; it mostly doesn't work at all. It fails anywhere between the kernel thinking the "USB cable is bad" (</quote>) to fully detecting and configuring the dongle (under either an rtl8187 or ndiswrapper-powered driver), but not letting me connect to any SSIDs. I typically have to unplug the thing and shove it back in in the previous case, or give up in the latter, which I've no idea how to get around, until it feels like connecting again (perhaps after cooling down?).
So I want to try a PCMCIA type card because...
    - I can't use my flash disk without a hub right now, since the dongle would occupy the only port available (although linux does say there's a 2 port hub inside >.>).
    - The port has a cute little flap over it that I don't want to remove, and it causes my USB dongle to not be able to go in properly unless I use a cable
    - I'm all like jittery about the USB port possibly not working =P
I've found it impossible to find any sort of specification sheet for this box so I have no idea what kind of PCMCIA port it has, but I'd imagine type #1 if that's of any help. The laptop itself is a Toshiba Satellite 2540CDS also.
    Teh point
I want to get away from the whole "vulnerable peripheral sticking out of side of laptop" thing and get a PCMCIA card that fits fully inside a laptop's PCMCIA slot, preferably without needing to use an external antenna.
I don't mind if the card takes up the space of the upper slot as well; I'm not using that one (and doubt I will soon).
I've been told that cards like this exist, but (of course) I only want one that is known to work with Linux, or at least one that should theoretically work (ie because it uses a supported chipset), and one that includes an internal antenna.
Although an antenna sticking out the side sounds like it'd look cool, so I might be okay with that once I see what it'd look like
    So what do you recommend?

    Hi Steve
Well, I cant give you proper answer how you can exactly remove the PCMCIA slot.
There are many screws and in my knowledge you have to remove all covers and screw which are placed at the bottom of the unit and inside under the keyboard.
Please check this unit precise. Maybe you have overlooked some screws.
But if it impossible to remove this PCMCIA slot from the unit I recommend to ask the service partner for a detailed instruction.
    Good luck

    Hi
You need an compatible one due to the different master/slave/c-sel settings.
Im not quite sure what drives could be supported but in my user manual which was preinstalled on my notebook (unfortunately not P200) I could find a list of compatible drives. Maybe your user manual contains the similar list
But if you will not find any details about the compatible media in you user manual then you could contact the authorized service provider in your country and could order such ODD.

  • What video cards are compatible with my early 2006 Mac Pro?

The video card currently in my early 2006 Mac Pro (2.6 GHz, dual-core) isn't fast enough for many of the recent games and I'd like to upgrade. I play games both on OSX Snow Leopard and Windows XP via Boot Camp. Is there a list of currently compatible cards available somewhere?
    Thanks.

No, not really.... but a couple of tips...
    1) when you're pulling the old card out, remember there is a black plastic retainer clip at the inner (front of computer) end. I didn't notice that, and now it's broken.
    2) Get the 5770 from Apple, not a big box store.... those don't come with the power cable you need and may not work.
    3) Plug the power cable into the mother board (?) first. It's fiddly, especially if you have big hands.... then plug it into the card, then slot it into the computer.
There are demos on youtube, but they all seem to miss out the fiddly bits.....!

  • What WiFi extender is compatible with the MI424WR router?

My house is larger than the MI424WR router can service with wireless connectivity and I'm looking at adding a wifi extender, but want to be sure it will work with the Actiontec MI424WR router I have with FIOS. I'm thinking of the Linksys RE1000. Anybody know if that (or any other extender) would be compatible?
    Thanks.

You're not adding a "second line," you're just extending your LAN.
The key point to understand is that the primary router provides LAN access on three different media; wired Ethernet, WiFi and over the coax (using a system called MoCA).  Normally, the only coax clients on the LAN are set-top boxes.   However, the coax LAN is available to anything that plugs into coax.  Thus, all you need is a device that converts the coax LAN to something more useful, like Ethernet or WiFi.  This is called a "bridge," and is a different function than a router.
There are several devices that can be used to bridge coax MoCA to Ethernet and/or Wifi.  Actiontec routers can be run in bridge mode, and are suggested by many folks on these boards.

  • What sim cards is compatible with my iPad 3

I will be traveling abroad and I want to know what particular SIM cards I have to buy for my IPhone and IPad 3 so I can use it overseas?
    My carrier is Verizon.

    Hey weslin1996,
The following information details using the iPad's cellular service around the world:
iYou can sign up for cellular connectivity only when you need it. Some cellular carriers even offer flexible shared plans that let you use the data service you already have. If you want a local connection when you’re traveling, iPad Air is ready. Just ask a local carrier about a short-term data plan, pop in a SIM card, and you’re ready to go.

  • What Graphics Cards Are Compatible For 3D?

I currently have Intel HD Graphics.
There are...... endless lists of graphics cards out there, so I thought I'd ask here just a few graphics cards that are compatible.  I always get a message that says I cannot make any 3D models because my graphics card is not compatible.

  • What video cards are compatible with W540?

    Hi all,
I am new to this community and to laptops in particular. I have a W540 notebook and I am using it both for software development and gaming. Specs programming are OK but I'm lacking in video performance when it comes to gaming.
Currently there's nVidia Quadro K1100M in my laptop so I was wondering if this can be upgraded to something better so my gaming experience can improve. From what I've read Quadro series are good for the graphic applications like CAD or similar but GTX series are better for gaming.
Can my laptop accomodate any of the GTX family, like 7xxM, 8xxM or 9xxM series? Or am I stuck with Quadro family? Do those families differ in their size (so that GTX can't fit in the W540, for example)?
If the dimensions are same, would you recommend to upgrade to some GTX or stay in the Quadro line and upgrade to 2100 or higher?
I suppose changing the card in the laptop is not that straightforward as in desktop computers (there I have plenty of experience). Would the change involve also removing the cooling block and then mount it back on the new card including the thermal paste application?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thanks Felix, ugh, that is unexpected. So there's no slot for the vcard? I guess I need to learn about laptops some more.
I guess none of the options is really feasible... Seems just too much. Replacing the whole board seems like overkill, I definitely don't have soldering equipment nor skills (in fact I've heard about this for the first time ) and making it external is just too expensive and cumbersome.
Well... If I want to play some new titles I guess I need to start thinking about buying a serious gaming laptop and not trying to make one out of the W540
    Thanks again for the insights!

But I'm sure it was an intel before I reloded it.....
Pls look at the download page and it says the Atheros thingy, yes when you click on it it goes to Tosh DE, and there is a choice of Intel.... but what one do i use.
And please when you answer tell me how you just know?
Do I need the Lan driver and the managment sofware or just the driver.

Thank you, it was the intel 2200bg.... I cant get it to connect to the wireless .....
My other units are ok. They are set to WPA.
I could not see this in the driver so I set it to WEP and my other machine they reconnected and were fine.
Now at least the M300 connects to my netgear router... but it only has packets sent and not recived.....
There is no extra security on my router but it won't give it an ip address.
Are there any settings on this Intel 2200bg I am missing?
All says ok in device man...
