Satellite A100/105 - microphone position

So got a replacement motherboard, this one has a microphone slot on it so I bought the microphone (little round black thing on a short wire with a 2 pin socket on the end), where does the microphone actually sit?
I mean its like plugged in and in the circumference of where the cable reaches there is nothing obvious for the microphone to sit in, surely it cant just hover over the motherboard?

Satellite A100 (Pro)/A105/TECRA A7(PSAA8/PSAA9)(PTA70/PTA71)(PSAAx) <-- thats the compatible board, here is the the picture from the service manual;

It looks like the mic fits in a little slot but if you do that the mic dont function as its completely enclosed.

  • Satellite A100-532: microphone sound volume is extremely low

I just bought Satellite A100-532 and I have a problem with sound input. I can't use microphone to chat with my friend on msn or even to record my voice on to the hard drive because the sound volume is extremely low.
I tried turning up all the volume on the desktop and on the RealTek HD sound manager but did not help. Microphone is working perfectly fine as I can hear myself well on the speakers.
Normally, with my old laptop (M30 series) I could use the Sound Recorder to record music which I play using Winamp or WinMediaPlayer but for this new laptop it does not detect any sound at all..just silence.
    Please advise.

    Hi
You should check also the volume controls in the "Sound & Audio devices" in control panel.
In the "Volume" tab please go to "Advanced".
Then a "Volume control" should appear.
Check if all controls are set to high level.
Furthermore enter the "options" and "properties" and enable all volume controls.
Change also to "recording" and enable there also all controls.
Additional you should check if the all "recording controls" are set to high.
Use "Advanced" option of mic and play around with the mic boost settings.
I'm sure you will find the best settings for your mic recording

  • How to deactivate built-in microphone on Satellite A100?

    Hi!
First of all I have a little bit silly question: Does my Satellite A100-547 has a built-in Microphone? If it has one - how can I deactivate it and use the external microphone of my headset?
If I want to talk to others in Teamspeak, the others can hear something even if the microphone of the headset isn't plugged in.
So I guess, there must be an built-in Micro ;-P

External microphone you can use if you connect it to MIC jack. TeamSpeak is not known to me but I presume in settings you can check functionality of connected sound devices. Test it!

  • Does Satellite A100-912 supports internal microphone

    Dear sir,
    I have a Satellite A100-912.
I can see beside the volume controller a small opening, i thought at first that was the microphone.
    But unfortunately it wasn't , or i don't know.
I opened my settings and i didnt find any microphone installed or working.
Is there a microphone. on this machine?
And if there is how can i enable it or install it?
If there isn't what is that opening beside the volume controller?

I wonder why you dont take a look into the user manual?
Such details and infos should be always mentioned in the user manual!
From my personal knowledge this notebook DOESNT support an internal microphone.
    Bye

  • Need WXP drivers for Satellite A100 (PSAA9)

    Hiya,
I've had to re-install Windows XP on my laptop. I don't have the Toshiba drivers CD though.
So I came here to get the drivers but I've no idea which driver goes with which hardware in my Device Manager.
Here's what I need the drivers for under Device Manager...
    Ethernet Controller
    Mass Storage Controller
    Network Controller
    PCI Device
    PCI Device (again)
    SM Bus Controller
Can anyone advise which specific driver I need for each?
    Many thanks,
    James

Thanks for you replies. I'd already come across that file, but it didn't give many clues. Here's the contents of it...

  • Headphones usage with Satellite L670D-105

    Data:
    Toshiba Satellite L670D-105
    Windows 7 64
    Realtek HD Audio Manager
I am trying to plug in a headphone, but it does only work partially.
Most of the above Realtek software is not available to me.
In other words the earphones work, but I cannot access the parts of the software that would let me switch between earphones and speakers. Which was my main problem from the start.
The speakers work, but the sound of the laptop can't be turned off, since these options in the software are not available for changes to me.
I will hand in the laptop soon, which was the advise from the German Toshiba Forum.
[Just look at the photos|steckerbild-lender.blogspot.de] , and ignore the funny language.
It felt from the start that the plugs should be able to move in more completely than they do, since everything else so far did. The first photo shows you to what extend they still stick out, I put some white paper on it to show the part which can't be convinced to move in further.
The next photo below shows you the plugs attached to the laptop. It feels since they do not connect completely, I cannot access the software and switch from headphones to speakers.
These options in the software are unavailable to me.
That's when I contacted the German speaking Toshiba Forum and they advised me to either use force, which honestly does not help, or hand in the laptop.
any ideas? Is this a known problem?

    Hi
As far as I know the head phone and microphone input supports simple 3.5mm three-conductor mini jack.
The pictures provided by the link in your message shows exactly such 3.5mm three-conductor mini jacks.
    >In other words the earphones work, but I cannot access the parts of the software that would let me switch between earphones and speakers
I found a thread about similar theme:
    http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=65295
The sound came through the speakers even if the headphones were inserted.
In the top right corner, there's a little yellow folder called "Connector Settings".
There, you can reactivate the setting "Enable pop-up dialog, when device is plugged in.
So now when you plug-in an external speaker or headphones, it pops up and I select the option "headphone" (instead of "line-in"), and then the sound comes out only through the headphones / ext. speaker.

  • Satellite A100-234: Real Player recording sound not working

    Hi
I have problem with my sound system. I have satellite A100-234.
When i try to record from to sound recording it doesn't record..
plz plz plz help me if you can

I learned from searching with google that some sound cards do not have the ability to record what you hear. So the only choices are CD, mic and line-in. Other computers have a "wave out" option as well. Can the alc861 record "wave out" sounds?
I can't even get the Windows Sound Recorder to record. The only recording that I can do is through the microphone jack. I can't record from the CD Player or anything else.
Does anyone know the solution? If not, is there a place that we should look for this solution?

  • Cannot record audio from wave on Satellite A100-PSAA9

Why I can not record realtime Audio Conference with the included RealTec Driver on my Toschiba A100?
Record Options given just, "Microphone-Line In-CD" but Wave is Missing, why?
I have another Notebook from Asus with RealTec Driver and there is it possible, on my Toshiba not, why?

    Dear all,
I've read so many posts where people want to record music they hear on their Satellite Notebooks (either wave, or sounds from the internet) and it seems that cornelius solved the "realtec driver" problem - that doesn't meen that it's really a problem of realtec - (where there are only three mixer categories) quite well. But I tried a little - because I don't want to spend 30$ for a new driver and found a cheaper solution (finally I hope, it works at least on my Satellite A100-PSAA9).
    What you need is:
first, a program that may record your sounds to mp3 or wave or whatever, I use No23Recorder - but there are lots of other programs working very well. Second you need to buy (mine cost 1) a jack plug (in german: Klinkenstecker) with one male and two female slots. Third, a stereo cable with one jack plug at each end of it (2)
Than you can start recording by putting the jack plug into the headphone slot of your Notebook; than putting the stereo cable into one of the female slots of the jack plug and the other one into the microphone slot of your Notebook. To listen to the things you want to record, put a headset into the free slot of the jack plug - and start recording ;-) !
So if you have enough money and you don't like a bit of cable salad, than I suggest you choose cornelius's way. If you are a poor student like me, perhaps you should try mine?
    Cheers, Kat

  • Re: Satellite L30-105 Vista - Power Calibration Error - need new firmware

    Hey there guys =)
Ive got a Satellite L30-105 running a 32-bit Vista. And even if i try several different burning softwares (Imageburn, Nero), and with TDK-cds, I get a error from the burning softwares, saying "POwer Callibration Error".
    The Satellite L30-105 (Article number PSL33E-02S026N5), uses a cd/dvd burner called MAT****A DVD-RAM UJ-850S
I am wondering, can i download and install new drivers for my dvd-drive???
i am also gonna try to buy this "cleaning-cd", to try to clean the lense. cause i bought the laptop in 2007... so its like grandma..
But do u guys have any other what might be wrong?? Is it expensive to get a new cd/dvd-drive for this laptop???
    Cheers and thank u!

    Hi
Power calibration error means that the ODD laser lens cannot calibrate in the right position.
Usually this has nothing to do with an drive firmware but with the hardware problem.
In most cases the CD/DVD drive must be replaced.
Im not sure how much an new CD/DVD drive could be but fact is that you cannot use any CD/DVD drive
You need an compatible one and such compatible and supported drive could be ordered from an local ASP.

  • Memory upgrade on a Satellite A100-912

I own a Satellite a100-912 and I want to upgrade its memory!
As it seems, this model supports only PC2-4200 DDR2 SODIMM modules (533 Mhz). Before bying a memory module that might regret, I want to know if there will be any compatibility issues if I use to this laptop PC2-6400 DDR2 SODIMM module (800 Mhz).
Is it going to work even at lower clock speed (533 Mhz) or is it going to be a total waste of money?

As far as I know the FSB is able to handle 667Mhz modules.
You can use lower modules (533Mhz) without any problems but modules with higher Mhz will not run with full speed due to the limited FSB.
So I dont recommend buying 800Mhz modules. Firstly they are not supported and secondly its waste of money!

  • Satellite A100-049 - CD ROM drive no longer found

My satellite A100-049 no longer sees my CD rom drive, It won't auto play any discs, and when I double click a shortcut to a program that uses a disc it says 'no cd-rom drive found'.
I've tried updating the driver but I already have the most up to date one. It was fine yesterday, before I installed Norton 360- I don't know if that has anything to do with it. My operating system is vista home premium.
I really need help quickly as I'm going to university in under 3 weeks and the cd rom drive is vital to my course.

    Hi Michael
Its very strange that your CD/DVD drive does not work longer after the Norton 360 installation. For me it looks like the Norton 360 has modified some registry keys and therefore the drive malfunctions.
I would recommend removing the CD/DVD drive from the device manager.
Then restart the notebook. After new reboot the windows OS should recognize the new hardware (CD/DVD drive) and should install it again.
Then start the registry and remove the upper and lower filter values from this registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    then reboot and test again!
Good luck and cheers dude ;)

  • Satellite A100-847 - upgrade advice

    Hello,
I'm using Satellite A100-847 (PSAA9E) for almost two years now. 2 year warranty period be over in month, so I guees it is good time for an upgrade. I could use more RAM and a faster HDD (for CAD purposes mostly when I'm on the run) so I would like to know more about it.
*What I already found out is that my notebook:*
(please say if I'm wrong with something)
    1) ...Can take 2 modules of So-DIMM DDR2; max 4GB; which means 2X2GB. I already have 2X512GB, and this is not enough.
    - The question is which DDR2 memory!? The FSB is running on 667 MHz, so I guess I should buy PC-5300/667 or even 6400/800?
    - Which is the best memory for my notebook? The one which doesn't heat up a lot!? Which model is cool enough?
    2) ...Has a Hitachi Travelstar 5K100, 2.5", 5400RPM, 8MB cache, 100GB SATA drive. Capacity is enough for me, but it is way too slow. So I guess I should for a 7200RPM 16MB cache drive.
    - The question here is does my notebook support SATA2 or is it just SATA1? Which shlould I buy?
    - Does my notebook support 7200RPM drive?
    - Will my notebook overheat with this drive?
    3) ...Could have a more efficient cooling system. Is there any solution to this?
    Thank you in advance,
    adambar

    Hello
Googling around Ive found follow information:
The computer has two SO DIMMs slot comes standard with DDRII 4200 module. It
supports PC2-4200 and uses SO DIMMs (DDRII SDRAM) driven at 1.8 V, accepting
BTO/CTO for your memory requirements. It can incorporate up to 4 GB of main
    memory.
Using the following sizes of memory modules:
    256 MB (16M168P)/533/667 MHZ
    512 MB (32M168P)/533/667 MHZ
    1024 MB (64Mx16x8P)/533/667 MHZ
If you want to use maximum RAM you must use two 2 GB. Toshiba recommends using
2 x 2 GB PA3513U-1M2G DDR2 RAM. Alternative to this RAM module are high quality Kingston memory modules.
About HDD I can say follow:
The HDD interface conforming to Serial ATA (for 40/60/80/100/120 GB).
The computer accommodates one 2.5-inch HDD with any of the following storage capacities:
    40 GB (9.5 mm thick) SATA (5,400rpm)
    60 GB (9.5 mm thick) SATA (5,400rpm/7200rpm)
    80 GB (9.5 mm thick) SATA (5,400rpm/7200rpm)
    100 GB (9.5 mm thick) SATA (5,400rpm/7200rpm)
    120 GB (9.5 mm thick) SATA (5400rpm)
As far as I know SATA2 is backward compatible and theoretically you can use it but I am not sure about that. If I were you I would by SATA1 HDD.
As you can see Toshiba has tested 7200rpm HDDs with this notebook model and you can use it too.
Overheat maybe not but I can imagine that plastic cover will be warmer than before. Be just sure the notebook is placed properly and nothing blocks cooling fan.
More efficient cooling system? I dont know what you mean exactly butt you can try something like this .

  • Windows XP LAN driver needed for my Satellite A100-784

I bought Satellite A100-784 with Windows Vista. I've removed Vista and installed Windows XP (taken from other non-Toshiba notebook)) and then SP2. Now I can't use the internet because there's no LAN driver. The drivers downloaded from this Toshiba site don't work.
Any solution for me? I expect other problems to appear soon, with the sound and so on. Isn't there any pack of drivers for this model with WinXP?
(I'd be very happy to get a quick restore disk with Windows XP in English but customer support won't provide any.)

    Hi
Your A100 unit belongs to the PSAANE series.
Toshiba European website provides two different XP Intel Lan driver versions:
    1. Intel LAN driver 8.0.43.0
    2. Intel LAN driver 9.2.24
The first one 8.0.43.0 was designed for LAN Pro100 and the other 9.2.24 for LAN Pro1000
Additionally I would recommend following the guidelines described in the installation instruction! The drivers must be installed in the right order.

FSB speed on mainboard is 533 MHz and compatible modules are DDR2-533 but you can use DDR2-667 RAMs. 2 GB RAM has part number PA3513U-1M2G.
More info about compatible RAMs you can find on KINGSTON page.
    Check it out.
