Satellite A100-153: Battery discharging itself very fast

Battery is discharging 60% after 2 days with unit switched off. Technical Support Bulletin visited. "Wake up
on LAN" was and is disabled. Other recommendations not found. E-Mail written to support and company I bought it. No reply since one week. Unit bought 3 months ago.
Can you help please?

Fully charged batteries will gradually lose their charge, even when not used. So if you have not used your notebook for a several time, make sure you bring a freshly charged battery working with your device. Actually, rechargeable batteries, stored or unused, lose their charge (age), slowly with time.
The rate of self-discharge depends on the type of battery. Alkaline batteries and most primary batteries have a good shelf life - they self-discharge very slowly. The rate of self-discharge rises rapidly with temperature, the ideal storage temperature is between 4C and 15C.
The following are guide figures, for the loss of charge in 1 month at 20C.
Alkaline: >1%
Li-ion: 35%
NiCd: 40%
NiMh: 50%
You should also check the battery section in your user manual. There you should find some info about the battery usage.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Then see if placing the iPod in airplane mode when in standby helps.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    -  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Hi, I had my iPhone 4S and I'm recently upgraded it from 7.0.5 to 7.0.6 and I found the battery drain up very fast if compare to iOS 7.0.5. Besides, I also unable to fully charger my phone to 100% now - max is 85% with phone either in airplane mode or switch off totally
May seek help from your advise on above case.
    Thank you
    Best regards,
    Adrian

Try killing the battery (Let it drain---turning on all the settings, playing a video, and having the brightness up kills it faster), then let it fully charge from there. Let me know if that works.

  • Brand new iPhone 6 battery life dropping very fast and charging even faster

my brand new iPhone 6 that I have just recently started using the day before has a surprisingly bad battery life. whrn first turning on the phone to use the battery life only last 1-2 hours with average use. when the battery died this morning I pluhe'd the phone into charge and the battery is charging very fast already at 25% and only being charging for about 15-20 mins. I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this problem and if it is normal or if I have just recieved a faulty iPhone 6?

    Can you check:
    1. What apps show on settings - general - usage - battery usage?
    2. How many apps have permission to use cellular data?

  • When i Using 3G internet The battery is reducing very fast. maximum I can Use 2.30 Hours with internet using. Is this possible ?

When i Using 3G internet The battery is reducing very fast. maximum I can Use 2.30 Hours with internet using. Is this possible ?

How long are you using internet for? Are you using WiFi or mobile data? Are you watching video on websites? There are many variables that could explain a perfectly natural battery drain. As I said previously you should try recalibrating the battery. My phone used to drain by mid-afternoon with little to no use until I found out about recalibrating. Since then its been fine and its something I do at least once a month.

  • IPhone 4S battery discharging Way Too FAST

    Hello,
to my utter disappointment the battery life or better the life of a charge of the iPhoone 4S battery is deplorably short. I have read all the negative comments and I had been forewarned by the salesperson that the this might happen (he works part time for the phone company that sold me the phone and part time freelances setting up iPhones for corporate use. And in his experience battery life varies greatly depending on if the battery was treated correctly at the factory, what version battery it was etc. And in his opinion the quality of the components Apple builds into it's hardware (harddrives, batteries etc.) are not cutting edge at all – as one might expect taken all the hubbub Apple creates around it's products – but cheap run-of-the-mill stuff.)
So, I feel a lot like Apple does not live up to it's self-created reputation and standards of delivering top-notch hard- and software – for a hefty price, that is.
I have disabled as many of the location-based services as possible, only activating them as needed. I have turned off any and all of the auto-update, selfcheck, -connect etc. features. I do not receive emails, I do not Twitter, Facebook or whatever Social Media stuff to save energy. Still, the battery discharges at a ridiculously fast pace. E.g. a reminder message (displaying on the startup screen as soon as I unlock the iPhone – unused all night): 25% of the energy level is being used up by that. A lot of the fancier apps using location based services or GPS apps are depleting the battery within an hour or even less (hiking, biking, jogging appps). So a lot of the much vaunted versatility of the iPhone falls short for me because I cannot use those apps without wasting too much energy.
As I said before, I am very disappointed!

We've been to the Verizon store on Mary Esther cutoff in Ft Walton Beach three times now. The first time they said to make sure no apps were running and eliminate those we didn't need. We did that. The second time we were met by a person who told us no one had that problem and it was Apple. The manager then came over and was very nice, suggesting we try to backup the phone to our laptop, reset the phone to factory, and restore. We've done that three times. We've also tried renaming our router access point twice.
We go today and tell the female rep that we still have the issue. She says no one at Verizon has ever heard of it and there's nothing they can do. I ask if we could get another phone since it was under warranty (April 10 was our anniversary) when we first brought it in, or replace it with the insurance we pay $8.18 per month for. She said no on the warranty, and sure for $169 deductible. She threw it back on Apple. Clearly not happy customers. If I didn't have a year left I'd be swapping providers today.

    Solved!

  • Satellite A100 - Shut down by itself and will not boot anymore

Satellite A100 PSAA9A-10U038. Laptop shut down by itself whilst in use. No BIOS upgrades or changes. No lights of any kind showing, no POST.
I have tried the AC power adapter on another machine and works fine. Called Toshiba told me power adapter probably at fault, if I wish to have them look will cost $120.
I'm thinking maybe motherboard died? Any help would be appreciated.
    Tony

    hi Laptop Larry,
try to boot without the batterypack....
can you see the "toshiba screen" while booting?
    you can also try to:
    - remove hdd
    - remove added memory (with no mem the unit should "beep")
    - remove odd (cd-drive)
if you cant get the system to boot (able to enter bios, see toshiba logo on screen, no beep)
than it's possible that your mobo died...

  • My iPod battery is dying VERY fast, Help?

I have an iPod touch 4th gen. and i love it. The problem is that the battery dies very fast. It will be completely charged and then 15 minutes later after facetiming or something it will be almost dead. But, when i turn it off it charges back up a little How do I fix this? Help? I use my ipod for school and i cant use it much when the battery is almost dead.

It would be a good idea to have the techs at the Apple store genius bar test the iPod Touch and see if the battery is failing...that is a very fast drain problem.

  • Iphone 5 battery is drying very fast

My iphone batttery is drying very fast  to 70 % even though it is used only for 20 minutes, Just browsing the facebook

First, fix your CAPS lock key, it must be broken.  Certainly someone would not be foolish enough to come to a public forum asking for help and instead SCREAM at fellow users that are only here to offer help.
Second, search the forums.  This isssue is addressed regularly.  There are hundreds if not thousands of postings about battery issues.

  • Satellite A110-178 - Battery discharges very fast

    Hi
I've a satellite a110-178 (psab0). The machine works fine, only the battery works for just 5 minutes and than it's going beeping and it shuts itself down.
Any way to get this battery working fine again?

    Hi Maurice
For me it looks like your battery is dead.
May I ask you how old it is?
The point is that after a long time of usage every battery start to lose the own performance and someday it will die.
    This is nothing unusual.
My battery is about 6 years old and since 3 years I can use it only for about 2min :D
I know, I should replace it but my notebook is connected always to the AC, so I dont need a new battery.
Anyway, you battery need to be replaced if you want to run the notebook longer using the battery.
    bye

  • Satellite A100-570: Battery exchange program utility doesn't load page

I've read in the latest issue of computeractive that some notebook batteries malfunctions and mine was one of those mentioned.
I downloaded the piece of software from Toshiba website to check the battery and indeed it told me my battery was affected. I wanted to put in an exchange application to which I clicked yes.
However, when the page loads up it is unknown. I have a A100-570 and am quite concerned about this matter but trying to get any info from Toshiba is quite difficult by email.
    Can anybody help?

    Hi
I found on the Toshiba European page a detailed description how to use this tool.
You can find this document here:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com -> Support & Download -> Product Updates -> Product Update: Toshiba Voluntary Battery Exchange program
In the section Battery Pack identification you will find a link to the Battery Pack Identification manual and to the Toshiba support bulletin document about Battery Pack Voluntary Replacement Program.
Furthermore I would recommend reinstalling this tool and please check the internet option like Privacy and security in the Internet explorer.

  • I have flashing grey dots in my calendar and the battery is draining very fast

    Hi,
My battery has started to drain very quickly in the last couple of days. it now only lasts about 3 hours after a full charge. After playing with it for hours, I can only find one strange thing. The grey dots in my calender (that show when you have an appt) are constantly blinking. I believe this may be draining the battery. Does anyone know why these are blinking and how to stop them.

  • New Satellite A100 - charge battery before switching on?

    Hi,
I'm new to the world of laptops and I will be getting a Entry level Toshiba A100
Today, however I am worried as to wether I should first charge the battery for 8 or so hours before booting up the machine for the first time?
I ask because I have heard that you can compromise the charge capacity by using the battery when it is
already low (the 1st time) and setting up the laptop, is that true??
    Your help is much appreciated.
    Cheers
    Kev

    Hi
The fact is that the new notebooks are delivered also with the new batteries and these batteries are empty. All notebooks manufactures deliver notebooks with empty batteries.
    Its not unusual state.
Of course you can plug the AC adapter and boot up the notebook. During the working on the notebook the battery will charge.
