Satellite A100-165; while typing cursor jumps to other location

Hi,
When i write with the keyboard sometimes the cursor jumps to another location,
Just right now it jumped to the "subject" input of the thread.
It's pretty random where it jumps but very annoying, i am running a Toshiba satellite a100 165;
Anyone got any ideas what this could be?

Hi
I had the same issue
I didnt notice that I touched the touchpad surface accidently while typing.
This was the reason why the cursor jumped.
You can disable the touchpad using the key combination FN+F9
Furthermore the BIOS update would be advisable too.

• Typing cursor jumps back to original position after clicking elsewhere

Hello!
My Macbook Air, since Day 1, has had the annoying issue described in the post subject. I'll be working on a document in iWork, (although this behavior pops up in every application) and I'll fix a typo or something in the body of the text. I'll then click back to the end of the document to continue typing. Then, when I start typing, the cursor jumps back to the typo that I fixed, with all my typing going in the wrong place. It happens a lot and it's maddening. I'm past my 90 days for phone support, so I'm hoping somebody here has run into the same issue.
And speaking of the 90 day issue... If I'm covered for a year, but can't talk to anyone for months 4-12, how on earth would I set up a warranty repair? Note, I'm nowhere near an apple store.

You can always take your computer to a AASP, to locate one near you navigate to:
https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do
You can do an SMC reset to see if that helps. Also if you purchase AppleCare this will extend the warranty and telephone support to 3 years from the original date of purchase. I would recommend you look into it. You can buy AppleCare directly from Apple or if you do some shopping you can save by buying from Apple resellers like Amazon or LA Computer Company.

• Shut down the computer.
• Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
• On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
• Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
• Press the power button to turn on the computer.

• Shut down the computer.
• Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step
• Turn on the computer.
• Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
• Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
• Release the keys.

• No software downloads available for Satellite A100-165

I need to download software for my A100-165(PSAA9E-OOVOOHFR) and it is not listed in the laptops series?

I really dont know what your problem is but if I search on Toshiba for Satellite A100 PSAA9E I have founded all drivers and tools.
So try it again, maybe you searched on the wrong website:

• Regardless of the application the cursor jumps to different location

First time this happened was while doing a PowerPoint presentation (for Mac 2011, 14.3.9).
While doing so the cursor jumped somewhere else. The Beamer then showed my Desktop instead of the presentation.
I do not opened PP and am working in Apple Mail. While Typing the cursor jumps somewhere else and the text can't be continued before I jump back.
this happens even while typing this text.
What can I do?
I have problems to figure out why this happens.
Does anyone have the same problem?

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

• Select document window title bar, cursor jumps to other screen

This has been going on for a few days now. I've restarted the Mac, etc
Mac dual G4 1.25 GHz with OSX 10.4.11
This started suddenly. I have had a dual monitor system for months now, and have never had this problem before last week.
If I have documents on my second monitor (to the left of the main screen), when I click on a non-top document, the cursor suddenly jumps (always) to the right hand monitor.
The cursor jumps horizontally to the left edge of the righthand monitor, at the same height position as the document's title bar.
Also, if I have a document on the main (righthand) monitor, which is pushed over to the right edge of the monitor, when I click the gray title bar, the cursor jumps about 200 pixels to the left.
If the documents are within about 1600 pixels of the left edge of the righthand monitor, then selecting them does NOT make the cursor jump.
Pretty weird, huh?
Anyone have any ideas what's going on?
I've never seen this before in 15+ years of using Photoshop.

I see that when you hover the cursor over the title bar of a PS document the full path is displayed briefly in a tool tip.
Not in the most recent versions of Photoshop it's not.
I think the reasoning for not maintaining the path is that a Photoshop document isn't really a single file. It's a document that may have been opened from a file, but there's no guarantee that when you save it's going to be written back to the file.
In fact, PS CS5 offers the ability to maintain separate default directories for File - Open and File - Save As operations.
So the short answer to your question is, I believe, no.

• The cursor jumps to wherever the pointer is while typing in text boxes.

While typing in a text box, the blinking cursor will jump to wherever the mouse pointer is and begin inserting the typing there. It happens both on external mouse and on touchpad. It's only on Firefox, I've tested IE and it's fine. Sometimes it is the ' that causes it (I read up on the "jump to find" bug), but it seems to be mostly the spacebar that sets it off. I've had it happen on various websites, blogs, emails, internal site mailboxes, seems to be everywhere. Sometimes a FF restart helps, sometimes a computer restart helps, sometimes nothing helps.
I've also had site pages jump "back" in the middle of typing in a text box as well. At first I thought I was hitting the touchpad while typing by mistake but it happens with the external mouse as well. I have the touchpad disabled while ext. mouse is used.
FF is Version 3.6.10, and I'm on laptop.
Plleeeeezzze don't tell me I have to go back to IE. ewwwww

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

• My cursor jumps around while typing and scrolling. i've tried different mice, different usb ports

I have a new HP pavillon HPE windows 7. My cursor jumps around while typing and scrolling. I've tried different mice and usb ports.I contacted HP support and was instructed to do several things to the mouse and pointer, nothing helps. I installed in usb port in the rear of the computer that helped for a short time, then it went back to jumping around. So what else can I try. Thanks

I have to admit I am baffled. I understand and have seen the issue happen on laptops before, but for the issue to be happening on a desktop strange. I can even understand a wireless mouse, however yours is wired.
Microsoft has a tool called Mr Fix it. It scans the problem area and attempts to fix whatever is wrong. It's worth the shot in this case to see if it helps resolve the mouse issue.

• Satellite L450D: erratic cursor while typing

Hi first post
I have recently taken delivery of Sat L450, as part of home access for our 11year daughter.
My problem is that while typing either on or off line the cursor is erratic.
It can jump into any other line and if you don't watch it constantly, it will screw up what you have typed.
I just completed a search for drivers and noticed there are two types of topuchpad drivers, so unsure if this would solve the problem or which one. (while typing this post the cursor has jumped back to previous lines 5 times)

Hi
Please disable the touchpad while typing using the FN + F9 key combination.
I had the same issue some years ago and didnt notice that I touched the touchpad surface accidentally while typing!
I disabled touchpad and it was the solution

• Email cursor jumping around while typing????

My cursor jumps around while I am typing and is just erratic.

I have this issue as well. I am using a early 2008 macbook, 2.4ghz intel core 2 duo. I usually am only typing on this computer for email. I have tried both firefox and safari with the same issue. I was initially hoping it was just a bug in the application, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

• FF was running fine. My cursor jumped out of the text box while i was typing and now no text box on FF will let me type in it? Help!

Basically as above, i opened a new tab to search for an article and as i was typing the cursor jumped out of the box without my realising. I placed the cursor back in the box and started but no characters appeared. I tried the URL bar and again nothing. I opened Chrome and it worked fine so clearly something ive managed to do but i have no idea what!
I didn't use any shift, alt or ctrl buttons accidentally. I have tried shutting FF down and reopening but nothing.
Can anyone help please?
As an addition, why does the cursor jump out like that?
Thanks

Hello darrendons, try disabling graphics '''hardware acceleration'''. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
* [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
* [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
Thank you.
