Satellite A100-906 - BIOS see 4GB RAM but OS only 3GB

The [manual|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=EU&PRODUCT_ID=1 20569&DISC_MODEL=1] says that the laptop supports 4 gigabytes of memory and the BIOS displays them, but the operating system (x86_64) sees only 3 gigabytes.

Installed 4GB ram, but comp only reading 3GB?

I just upgraded my 2.4ghz MBP from 2 to 4GB ram (Kingston DDR2-667 2x2GB cards). The computer reads all 4GB (in the system profiler), but when I open a program like AFTER EFFECTS, it's only using 3GB.
Any ideas why or how to fix the problem? Of course I got the extra ram specifically for programs like AFTER EFFECTS and FINAL CUT, so it'd be nice to know that i'm getting my money's worth!

So you DO have 4 GB RAM installed OK.
when I open a program like AFTER EFFECTS, it's only using 3GB.
Not all your RAM is available for an application to use; your video chip, for example, uses your system RAM.

As far as I know the notebook uses the CORE2 DUO T5600(1.83GHZ) CPU.
According to the Intel page the VT is supported by this CPU:

Therefore it should be possible to use the Intel Virtualization Technology.
Update the BIOS and check if there is a option which could enable / disable the VT.

i have Satellite A100-906 and cannot boot from CD. I don`t now whats problem.
I want recovery my pc but don't run cd boot and i tried another Windows CD and seems to be a same problem.
I get DVD Super Multi drive _usb_ but not run same problem.
Bios tool is default.

Sorry buddy but I think you will be not able to boot from external USB CD/DVD drive
As far as I know BIOS doesnt support this!
You have to use the use the internal CD/DVD drive if you want to boot from the disk!

One keyboard button is broken on Satellite A100-906

Hi guys,
Few days ago i bought Satellite a100 906. As soon i got home, i found one keyboard button (the cap from the inner side) is broken (the M letter).
Is it possible to order the keyboard buttons separately or only the full keyboard ?
My local dealer said only full keyboard is avalible, but its just funny, that i should buy a new one keypad instead of one letter cap.

Generally if the button mechanism is broken the whole keyboard must be replaced but if only the keycap is damage it should be possible to order the single keyboard key caps.
The removing of the keycaps is not very tricky. Simply go under the keycap with the fingernail and remove the keycap.
But I assume the warranty is valid therefore the service partner should do it for free.

Sound device of Satellite A100-906 stopped working

Hi all..
the sound on my Satellite A100-906 just stopped working in winxp.
I didn't make anything like installing a program etc.
I verified that the drivers are installed properly but after that I just had it so I installed a fresh copy of winxp and installed the sound driver BUT it didn't work!!!
I just don't know what to do with it.
Please someone help me..

maybe you have the wrong drivers. If you already tried it here:

and the drivers didnt worked for you, then go to this link and download the drivers from that page:
http://209.167.114.38/support/Download/ln_byModel.asp
They should work. Background of that issue is, that the soundchip was designed for vista and not xp, so the drivers wont work and you have to use special drivers which could be downloaded in toshiba canada.

I've learned by reading other topics that I can't upgrade my graphics card on my Macbook Pro because it's soldered into the motherboard or somthing like that, but please tell me if there is any way to get more video ram by chaning some setting or upgrading something else. The only two items that a user can change on a MBP are the RAM and HDD (Retinas not included). You have what the unit came with and the only way you will be able to change that is to purchase a MBP with superior graphics
If you are very much into gaming, the I suggest A PC. They are far superior for that type of application to a MBP.

X58M Only See's 4gb Ram but have 6gb

Hi,just built a new computer for a friend and i have installed 6gb of corsair TR3X6G1333C9 but when i load up windows and have a look at system its only saying 4gb ram.im running windows 7 64bit and bios is 3.23 and the processor is a core i7 920.

CPUID detects 6GB physical. Where did you see the 4GB detection?

Satellite A100-906 does not load Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5

I have installed Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 in my A100-906 Toshiba Notebook.
While loading the Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 a blue screen comes up and the system restarts.
I assume that is a conflict with my sound card but if it is so, is there any solution?

Satellite A100-158 connects to the WLAN but not to the internet

I have a Satellite A100-158. It used to disconnect frequently from the wireless network in my house but now although the connection still registers on the Intel PROset/wireless program, and is stated as connected, I cannot access the internet anymore. I have no idea what the problem could be as the wireless signal is excellent.
At the moment I have plugged the Ethernet cable into the router to access the internet. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem could be?

I cannot provide the exactly solution to this WLan issue but I think you should check the whole settings on the WLan router.
First of all you should remove all security settings like the encryption key and MAC address filtering.
Then check the notebook settings. If you use a Wlan configuration tool like Intel ProSet utility the windows own configuration option should be disabled!!!
Furthermore go to the Wlan properties and check the TCP/IP protocol settings!!!
The IP address, subnet mask and the default geteway should be set to automatic

Satellite A100-906: NVidia Go 7600 does not support Adobe Premier 3.0

After I bought the Satelltie A100-906 notebook with this graphics card, I installed the Adobe Premier 3.0. After the installation was successfully done, the Adobe Premier program could not open.
The OS goes to blue screen with some kind of communication errors with the graphics card and causes a restart. I have installed the same Premier onto another laptop with integrated Intel graphics card and it work's properly!
What's the problem? I heard from professional movie makers that NVidia cards don't work with Adobe Premier?! It seems to be a wide problem, but has anybody had some ideas on what to do? PS! I have the latest driver version from of it - 8.4.6.8

did you installed the Nvidiadrivers from the Nvidia-website?
Maybe that can be a bluescreen-factor because the graphic-unit is a special mobile version, so you have to use the original Toshiba drivers.
Regarding Adobe premier: I had the same problem with my system, and my VGA-Card is a NV Geforce7900GTX, so my solution was searching for a driver which works with my Adobe.
After many trys, I found a driverversion which worked for me.
Be careful: the newest drivers are not automatically the best for all applications on a system. I have to use the 8x.xx version because the new version are not working properly, and that on a DESKTOP-System!!!

MacBook 4Gb RAM Upgrade, OS only sees 2.7Gb?

I upgraded my macbook 2GHz aluminium today from 2Gb to 4Gb. I am running Windows Vista32.
I understand the limits of 32 bit addressable space, and the fact that video cards / chipsets etc will take away from the amout of memory that the OS can address, but losing 1.3Gb is excessive. Where has it all gone?
For comparison, I run other machines here (PC's) with Vista32 that have no problem seeing 3.3Gb of RAM, despite having much more video RAM, more PCI expansion cards etc to address from the 4Gb pool.
Any ideas?
