Satellite A105-4094 display issue - only half screen

So my screen is half displaying, its a compressed version of the full screen.
The right half of the screen is lit, but all black, and right after the halfway point on the left side there is a strip of image then a strip of black before seeing the compressed image.
The output works fine to an external. I know its not the video card. I reinstalled the updated Bios, and i tried using powerstrip.
I'm pretty sure its a software issue as in system devices my display is shown as Digital flat panel with a max res of 1024 x 768 but the native is 1200 x 800 and it used to be called something else like toshiba laptop internal monitor.
No drivers have fixed the issue and i can't find a similar problem anywhere!
Anyone have any ideas what this could be?
It used to do this, and a restart would sometimes fix it, but now its just stuck like this.
If you need pics i can take screen shots later, but i dont have it available right now...

I had a similar problem with my previous laptop.
Does it happen in the BIOS and at the Toshiba logo as well? If it does, that would rule out a software/driver problem since Windows wouldn't be running at the time.
If it happens in the BIOS as well:
-Try resetting the BIOS to its defaults
If it happens only in Windows:
-Update the display drivers.
-Disable extended/clone desktop in the Display Settings in Windows.

It is best to use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed a maximum file size of 1 MB.

Vuescan Preview Showing Only Half Screen On 2012 Mac Mini

I have a 2012 i7 2.3Ghz quadcore Mac Mini fitted with an Areca Thunderbolt 12TB RAID and running 10.8.2, and using the latest version of Vuescan, am getting only half the screen when going onto Preview from our Minolta Dimage Scan Multi Pro scanner, which is connected via a Firewire 800 to 400 cable.
One would think it is a problem of the software or OS but no......when running it on a mid-2010 2.4Ghz i5 Macbook Pro on SL 10.6.8 and on another 2011 Mac Mini we have (also running 10.8.2), the Vuescan runs perfectly and previews normally. So I am wondering.......what is the cause of the problem? Could it be to do with the Firewire port, interference from the Thunderbolt port, or simply that we have a defective motherboard? Would appreciate any help or suggestions, thanks.

It was indeed the screen calibration that was the main issue...once that was done the screen went back to normal.

Satellite A105-S2071 - HDD issue

Hi lads,
I have Satellite A105-S2071 and last time my HDD died so I had to swap it and I have a problem with HDD drivers.
Could you tell me what is motherboard chip installed in my Satellite?
And when I choose control panel > system > device > devices menager > IDE ATA/ATAPI controller > IDE basic channel > advanced settings > current transfer type it shows me *not applicable*
What is the reason because my comp working not so good and I think thats the reason

However, you have an ATI RADEON XPRESS 200M Chipset. The display driver contains the chipset driver.
I dont know thy transfer type shows not applicable.
Do you have set the SATA mode in BIOS to AHCI or compatible?

IPod Touch displaying only half-screen album art

Hey all,
I'm using an iTouch 1G, and I love it. Unfortunately, over the past few weeks, iTunes seems to have a problem putting the album art for songs onto my iPod Touch.
Here's an image of what it looks like:
The bottom half of the image is missing, and it does not appear at all when in coverflow mode.
There doesn't seem to be any specific pattern to the errors, either. This problem occurs with both tracks purchased from iTunes, (such as this image, specifically) and with other tracks that I rip from CDs, and even some that I import the image from.
When browsing some of the other topics related to this problem, many people suggested using a high res image for the album art, but I can assure you that I have 300x300 min for the art that I have downloaded, and even then, it doesn't explain why PURCHASED music has the same problem.
I'm just throwing this out here to see if anyone else is having this problem, and if anyone knows what to do to fix it?
Maybe its a bug in iTunes; by which case- Please be aware that this is a problem!

Is the Album Artwork showing up correctly in iTunes? Are you using the latest iTunes Software on Windows & latest iPod Touch Update?

Firefox only displays as a half screen.

This is happening to me too. I have tried all of the obvious quick fixes, using LINIX to create a new .mozilla profile, even uninstalling and then reinstalling FF, but nothing is working.
It's a pain in the backside. I could export my settings to another browser, but would prefer not to have to.
Any ideas, anyone...?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

Satellite U500-1E0 - Webcam shows only black screen

Hi everyone,
I have this problem, my webcam doesnt work. It has a blue light on which indicates that it is running but it only displays black screen. I've tried updating software, uninstalling it, reintstalling again but nothing helped. I even downloaded a new driver from Toshiba website but nothing.
Please, does anyone have any kind of solution to this problem?

If the webcam shows just a blank screen I could imagine its just a wrong webcam setting.

Rendering Issue - Only half frame is visible

*Hey everyone... I'm sure there is a simple solution, but I cannot figure it out.*
*I render out various projects as an H264 format. I've never run into any issues until recently. Two projects to be exact do not respond well to many rendering attempts.*
*I have all the settings set correctly yet only the top portion of the entire render is visible, the bottom half is solid black... If you scrub through the project the entire thing plays, but the bottom remains black.*

I came into this same problem myself, the day after I downloaded and installed the new quicktime 7.6 update. That is the only thing I can think of that changed between the time I rendered one video that worked, and the same video again that had the solid black line from the midpoint down on the video. The only workaround I could find was to export the video in Apple's Pro Res 22 format, and then open the file in Quicktime player and export it as an H.264 file. That seemed to work fine.
The black bottom portion bug only seems to affect Motion, as far I know.

Satellite M115-S1061 - display issue - bad colors

According to my daughter, her Satellite laptop running XP-SP2 suddenly went dim. At first I thought it might be the backlight inverter so I obtained a replacement but changing that failed to make any improvement.
Experimenting with the display settings it became apparent that many of the display colors were not what they should have been and I began to think something had happened to the LCD or its cabling causing the loss of one of the primary colors i.e.: blue however, upon rebooting I observed plenty of blue from the diplay until XP fully booted.
While changing themes and setting in an attempt to obtain a mere usable display, it became increasingly obvious that there is some type of video inversion going on.
That said, I can find no setting that would could cause this or any similar report of this malady. I have swept for any virus and gone back several restore points with no findings or imprivement.
The driver has not been updated so there is no ability to rollback to an earlier iteration and a search for an update indicates the current dirver is the latest.
Also, as noted, during initial boot-up the display appears to be of relatively normal brightness and the colors are as they should be...
It is not until the XP desktop launches that things go astray.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as school is back in session and I either get this resolved and get a new laptop!

According to your description I believe that this might be a graphic card problem.
I would really recommend connecting an second, external display/monitor to this notebook to check if the same bad colors would be visible on the external monitor.
If the same bad colors would appear at the same time on the second monitor then the issue could be really related to a bad GPU chip
In such case a replacement (motherboard) would be necessary

Display shows only white screen after booting up

My computer froze while the screen saver was playing and I rebooted and now there is only a white screen. The apple apears and the grey circle spins but then it freezes and the display just stays white. I can still access all of the harddrives over my network so I am assuming it is just my video card. Any thoughts?

I doubt it's your video card, but if you want to test that theory, try the Apple Hardware Test.

Mac book pro is unable to display desktop ,only white screen with apple logo is appearing

I have a Mac book pro, since today morning the Mac book pro is not starting. It just displays the white screen with Apple logo and search signal. Despite waiting for a long time desktop is not coming up.
I have tried to restart it several time but the status remains same. Kindly help.

External display issues only at 1920x1080

Hi,
I've been using a small LCD monitor with a mini displayport - vga converter. Today I've bought a LED monitor that can handle 1920x1080, and its only input is VGA. Once I hook the monitor up, I get a `no signal` display. I then change the resolution to 1440x900, it works fine. I then change it back up to 1920x1080, get no signal, then after about 5 secs get display. Now, the main problem is that the main monitor goes awkward after arbitrary time period. I've taken a screenshot (yup) of the display. If i switch back to 1440x900 and then switch to 1920x1080 again it goes fine. I've resetted the PRAM. All this happens on a early 2011 Macbook Pro 13".
Any ideas?

There have been similar reports. However, not all external displays in combination with a MacBook will exhibit this problem. Thus, it seems either display specific or something that is caused by a cross between one display and a MacBook.
I assume that you are using one of Appe's mini DisplayPort to DVI adapters to connect to the external display. In that case have you installed the latest firmware update for the adapter?

Satellite 4030 CDT display doesn't fill screen

I have a 4030CDT running Windows ME. The display doesn't fill the sceen . I have updated from Toshiba website to give the latest display driver but display settings cannot be changed from 16bit colour & 640x480.
Any ideas what I've done wrong?

Thanks . I've found one on driverguide.com.Just going to download it now .Hopefully all will be solved. I'll let you know. I intend to use the old 4030 when I'm working away from home..not very often.Hopefully I'll succeed & won't have to invest in a new laptop.

IPad 1st Gen - display issue (refer to screen shot)

Anyone know if this is something that's fixable? It's an older model (1st gen), everything else seems to work fine, just the middle of the screen isn't getting rendered content.

Have you tried to give it a reset? Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds and see if it reboots.
But, honestly, it almost seems like the iPad's equivalent of a graphics card is going out. there may not be much to do beyond getting a new device.

Nokia E 71 - Display Issues

I just bought my Nokia E 71 yesterday and seem to be having display issues. The screen has a vertical line running on the right part of the screen which can only be seen when the phone is on. Has anybody experienced this as well? Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this?

Sounds like a faulty display.
Take it back where you bought it and show them.
