Satellite A110-195 lan crashes

Hi
My satellite a110-195 crashes when i'm sending files to another lan computer. There's nothing wrowng with the other lan computer
because i'm also testing it with an a100-906 and works fine.
I've formated hard disk and reinstalled windows xp but the problem is still there.
I'm using the latest bios. Is a very strange problem.
Lan works fine with my internet connection and system crashes only when I transfer big files.
About 800mb files.
I think that it's software orientated.
Looking forward to an answer.
Edit: A few more info.Laptop crashes ONLY when i'm sending files and ONLY when i'm using the battery. I've ordered a usb to lan card, to see what's going. But it's a shame a one week old laptop to have such problems.

I've posted this in another thread regarding the same issue and I think I've got a answer.
Do you have a Realtek Lan card?
If yes then you will have to contact the ASP in your country for a fix.
I had a similar issue with my Realtek Lan card on a Satellite A110.
From time to time my system locked up while copying big over the Realtek LAN port.
I have spoken to local technician and he said that a patch is needed.
Unfortunately, I dont know what he did but after the update (or patch installation) I didnt notice the same issue again.
Therefore I would recommend contacting the authorized service partner and ask for the fix.

My sound card has stopped working it was working fine but suddenly the sound quality started to faint and finally it stopped working i have tried the following methods:
Realtek is default audio
Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device.( Didn't Worked)
Chipset Utility - install ( Did'n't Worked Aswell)
Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open in left pane click Services(Local) from the tree / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply / click Start > OK Reboot. (Worked) But First The Quality Was Not As It Was Before And Then Sound Card Stopped Working Again.
Try a System File Check
go to Run - type "sfc /scannow" No Success.
I have installed windows again but no success. :(

No It Appears In Device Manager And In Control Panel.
This Method Worked But The Sound Level Was Not As Good As it Used To Be:

I don't have this old notebook model but I had similar M70 and CPU removal was possible.
Im pretty sure that A110 design is almost the same as on older M70.
What do you want to do exactly? Upgrade or CPU replacement?

External Sound with Satellite A110-195 is lock of bass

You should try to remove or to rename the files RTHDAEQ0.DAT and RTHDAEQ1.DAT.
You could find these files in the C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\ folder

I have Toshiba Satellite A110-195
My questions are:
1)Whats the maximum size of ram per slot,1gb or 2gb?
I have 2 rams on my laptop right now 512 MB each.Am I able to replace one of them with a 2gb ram?
2)Right now on my laptop I have DDR2[PC2-4300] rams.
Any DDR2 SoDimm ram will work?
Or the ram must be DDR2 and exactly PC2-4300.

Sudden Power OFF - Satellite A110-195

Sudden Power OFF My Satellite A110-195 suddenly power off while using on A/C power, it happens many times a day after 1 to 1 and half hour use, the room temperature is 20 to 25 degree Celsius. Again I have to push the power button to switch on the laptop. Why its happing?

The classic cause of an uncommanded shutdown is overheating. The system shuts down to prevent damage. Had your power adapter failed, the system would continue to operate until the battery was exhausted and in that case you would get low power warnings before shutdown. If the system is under warranty, the best course of action would be to take it to a Premier (emphasis on Premier) Authorized Service Provider. If it is overheating, they will open it up, clean out the accumulated dust and dirt, remove and clean the processor heat sink and reapply thermal grease. If it's not under warranty, you can do much the same yourself - or at least as much as you are comfortable with. At the least you could blow out the air vents with a can of compressed air and see if the situation improves.

My problem is now _battery is not being charged_ and my notebook is running only on ac supply .
Please tell me why this is being happened and what the solution is.

First of all the people here in the forum can try to post some suggestions which could help you to solve different notebook issues but you shouldnt expect that you will get a 100% right solution. I think you can understand that without putting the hands on the notebook we can suggest only about the reasons why something happens
So back to your issue; in my opinion you should firstly check if the battery is faulty and if the new battery would help you.
I checked the Toshiba Options & Accessories page on the Toshiba European website and found the compatible batteries with Satellite A110-195;
The batteries are;
Battery Pack (Li-Ion, 4000mAh, 6 Cell) PA3465U-1BRS
Battery Pack (Li-Ion, 4300mAh, 8 Cell) PA3457U-1BRS

Satellite A110-195 after update of bios ask for password

After i update the bios that i download form the toshiba website for the laptop and update if from the windows he ask for the reboot. After reboot notebook start asking for password for bios and system password too. now i cant get to the system.
I try default passwords like Toshiba,BIOS, CMOS, phoenix, and PHOENIX. and didn't work. CMOS battery in a110-195 is soderd on motherboard. Is there any jumpers that i need to bypass to clear cmos.

Thats strange buddy.
Why should BIOS set a password automatically after the update???
Anyway. As far as I know the BIOS password can be removed only by an ASP technician only these guys know how to remove the BIOS password
I think the ASP is your last chance to get the BIPS password removed from the system

Satellite A110-228 LAN does not work after hibernate

Well, subject says it all, really. The LAN (wired) network does not work after hibernate.
It seems it cannot find the DHCP server, so after a while it gets a 169.* address.
After a reboot, the network functions as usual (gets a IP address from the DHCP server)
Tried the usual things, disconnecting the cable, disabling the LAN device, battery or AC adapter, the behavior is reproducible.
The wireless network will be restored after a hibernate.
It needs a little help though (right click on the icon and "recover" or whatever it is called in English)
Any suggestions?

Hi guys
In the Toshiba HW setup which is placed in the control panel the options Wake-up on LAN and Built-in LAN should be enabled.
I think the options are disabled by default.
Furthermore the default setting for Wake on Settings is OS controlled. To use the Wake-up on LAN function under power off mode, in the device driver for the network card under the menu point Wake On Settings the Value Wake on Magic & Directed must be set.
Please check this how to enable WOL (first time use):
1. Go to [Start] -> [Control Panel] -> [Toshiba HWSetup] -> [LAN] tab
2. Enable Wake-up on LAN
3. Click [Apply]. System will request to reboot.
4. After the reboot go to [Start] -> [Control Panel] -> select [System]
5. On system properties dialog box select [Hardware] tab -> click [Device manager]
6. On Device manager dialog box select [Networking adapters] -> double click [Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection]
7. Go to [Advanced] tab -> select [Wake On Settings] property -> Select [Wake on Magic & Directed]
8. Press [OK] to close the dialog box.

More graphic memory after BIOS update on Satellite A110-195

After Instell BIOS Update from 1.30 to 1.60 avaliable crahpic memory: 64 Mb, must be 128 Mb.
It after update or it my mistake?

Wait a moment. As far as I know in specification for this Intel 945GM is written that this card can use between 8MB-128MB for video operations. I am not 100% sure but I believe you can not force this card to use fix value and it works automatically and used memory depends on available RAM and also on intensive video operations. Am I right?
If you start system properties how many RAM is shown under General tab?
BTW: BIOS downgrade is not possible. It can be done just by service using special tools they have. Because of that you will never be able to find old BIOS versions on download page.

After searching for Toshiba 'Drivers & Downloads' , I cannot track the Satellite *A110-195* model...
I have input the Serial Number and came up with (2) family models..
A110 - 195 (PSABO)
A110 - 195 (PSAB6)
Is this model discontinued and removed from the notebook knowledge database?

Satalite a110-195 CD and windows problem

hello all
i have my satalite A110-195 and suddnlly windows dammege and cd wont instale another windows it read to middle and stop reading from cd
i chang the DVD hardware but after chang it the computer wont recognize it and wont read from it
and i cant instale windows
i will try to load the windows directly to hard disk from external SATA cable but if any one have idea to lit the machine recognize the DVD hardware

Do you really think there is some magic solution for this? It is definitely some serious hardware problem that must be investigated in service with diagnostic tools.
All you do at the moment is right and you can eventually find out what the problem can be but question is: how to fix this? Can you repair manboard? Can you exchange mainboard? What you can do about it?
In my opinion all you can do is to find some cheap already used mainboard, exchange it and hope everything will be OK again. This can be a kind of challenge for you and hope you can fix it. Other way, sell it on eBay and obtain newer piece of hardware.
Sorry but I just try to be a bit realistic.

Satellite A110 Upgrade - Xpress 200M problem, lost Toshiba software

I own Toshiba Satellite A110-110. After using this laptop for a two years with pre-installed system, CPU and RAM I have decided to upgrade it. So, I change Celeron M410 for a Core Duo T2450, 60 GB HDD for a 250 GB HDD and 512 MB RAM for a 2 GB RAM and Windows XP HE for a Vista Business.
Installation of all parts and software went fine. Then, I downloaded and installed drivers for Vista. So what is wrong you might ask?
An ATI Xpress 200M, which could get from RAM up to 256 MB for graphic on Windows XP, now, with Vista, this graphic card in control panel displays only 128 MB obtained (shared) memory. What is more, there is no option to change settings and have that old 256 MB. Maybe someone knows the solution?
As the second main problem after upgrading my personal system is total lost of all Toshiba utilities like Connectivity Doctor, Wireless LAN search (transparent oval radar hide on the right side of screen with other options), SRS WOW Sound panel and other which were in based configuration.
Vista doesn't display anything though I put to the system some of it. If anyone can help to solve this problem and has knowledge where I can get that kind of software please give me a tip, and write what kind of idea you are able to share.

Thanks Homer for your answer. I went to link which you have send me. Once again I downloaded all drivers for A110 with Vista from Toshiba Support Website. When I have started installing those drivers, during the process, some of drivers couldn't be installed because of lack of appropriate software. As I stated in first post, I don't have any pre-installed Toshiba software which were included to A110 at the beginning (with XP, manufacturer configuration). Drivers and software offered by Toshiba via its website contain rather updates than basic and full software which can be downloaded and installed on any Toshiba laptop. So, here we go again to the beginning. Moreover, even if some of software were installed succesfully I still can't use Connectivity tool (that oval radar for searching available wireless intenet), I can't see and set SRS Wow sound panel beacuse there is no any set window to do this. Well, maybe they are not compatible with Vista and there is no possibility to see and use them like before (with XP). What do you think about it?

Satellite A110: Graphic card is only at 64MB after traditional 1.70 Bios update

I have toshiba satellite A110. I've upgraded my bios to 1.70 version but now my video card is only at 64MB.

Satellite A110 Battery won't charge & won't run if battery is plugged in

Hello there,
Let me try to resume the situation clearly enough.
Product : Toshiba Satellite A110-149
Works fine on AC adapter (just a resume from standby issue but that's because of Gentoo Linux, this used to work under Windows XP)
Original battery was dead. Not only didn't it charge but with both this battery and the AC adapter absolutly nothing happened, not a single LED on. No need to mention I couldn't turn the comp on.
Bought a new battery at AboutBatteries.com
- Replace: PA3465U-1BRS | 10.8V | 6600mAh (71Wh)
With this new battery in and the AC adapter plugged I have the power green led and the orange charging led on. But even after 8 hours and computer off the battery hasn't charged.
If I try to turn the comp on with this new battery in and the AC adapter plugged in it starts running but after a while it shuts down automatically, not matter wether I boot or enter BIOS.
BIOS is Phoenix v1.50 and I reset settings to default.
By the way, downloaded the last OS independent 1.70-WIN (bios-20090121162419.zip) but is there a way to update it without Windows?
I've tried to unplugged everything and press the power button several times (last try i kept pressing for more than 2 minutes for what that matters)
I've clean the contacts with alcohol.
Could this be because of a fuse or capacitor I could replace myself or something?
Any help would be appreciate.

Hola,
Agree with you and sadly made the same conclusion. But the different behaviours between old battery and new battery made me wonder.
I've been using this laptopn with the AC Adaptor only for quite a while but I bought a new battery with to be able to work even without it. It is after all the purpose of a laptop. Or I'll keep going with my desktop which way more powerful. ;)
I'll wait for other potential answers and then open it to see I can find any replaceable dead component.
