  • Satellite P100 - graphic card nVidia Geforce Go 7600 crashed

    Hello!
My graphic board has crashed and, after removing dozens of screws, i've verified it's not integrated in the motherboard. I could disassembled it after removing the last three screws.
    - My laptop is a Toshiba P100-342 (PSPA3E-0QE038SP)
Here, you can see the model number: http://imageshack.com/a/img856/1917/6s6f.jpg
    - The graphics card is a nVidia Geforce Go 7600.
Here you can see it on the motherboard: http://imageshack.com/a/img834/5825/ktl8.jpg
And here, alone on the table: http://imageshack.com/a/img839/3525/6of6.jpg
This is the nVidia chip: http://imageshack.com/a/img836/4343/q7lg.jpg
Searching in the internet, i've found just 1 graphic card similar to mine. But i'm not sure if it'll run, because i've read the devices must be exactly the same as the original:
    http://www.ebay.es/itm/NEW-Toshiba-A000013050-Nvidia-G73M-128MB-GeForce-Go-7600-Video-Graphics-Board-/360821279000?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item54029f c918&_uhb=1
I asked the eBay seller about the compatibility and his answer was: "Please contact Toshiba for complete product compatibility." But Toshiba doesn't provide any support after the warranty expires (almost in Spain).
Anyone has replaced this graphic card? Do you think i should buy this ebay's graphic card? Are there any other solutions? (for example: replacing the whole motherboard...)
    Thank's very much in advance.

I never had to replace an graphic card in a notebook but I would not purchase any part if Im not 100% sure if it would be fully compatible with my notebook.
Fact is that SATELLITE P100-342 was equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 (code name G73M) PCI Express x16 (GDDR2 256GB dedicated RAM) graphic card.
The part on ebay supports only 128MB and therefore I think both parts are not the same.
This could be the reason not to purchase this part.

  • Black screen when monitor connected to one graphics card port only

A couple of days ago did a back up using SuperDuper. The program is set to send the mac to sleep and when I tried to wake it got a black screen though the system seemed to have woken judging by the sounds. I've had issues after back up with the system freezing so tried rebooting as the first option, unplugging and reconnecting everything but still a black screen. Tried a second monitor and this worked but on reboot it too turned black. I then tried the second graphics card port and this time the screen worked and rebooted fine too. Since then I've tried the original connector/port and sometimes it works sometimes not and mostly even when it does work when I connect at first a reboot results in a black screen. The obvious logic is that this port has gone (ATI Radeon HD 2600) Apple say I have to return the whole kit to base for them to evaluate. I can't afford to be without the Mac for a week or however long it will take so I will just buy a new video card and install myself but just wanted any thoughts on the issue first - could it be anything other than the graphics card? Other hardware/software issues? Can't think why but don't want to shell out if that's not the problem.
Also, will the NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 work with my 2008 Mac Pro?
    Many thanks

The 2600 does seem pretty rubbish - never had a Graphics card go on me before - and especially not in less than a year. Of course Apple said I had to return the whole machine to base rather than ship out a new card. It was less disruptive to shell out for a new card than lose the machine for a week or two under warranty. The GT 120 seems fine to me but if you need extra graphics support for 3D, gaming etc then I guess the 4870 is the more powerful option.
Just to confirm it is the graphics card have you tried reseating it in another slot?. Also I found that for a while at least swapping to the second monitor port worked until that bit the dust after a week.

  • EBay (only) cookie issues after 10.5.5 combo update

On my MacBook Pro -- I am getting a message when trying to sign onto eBay that my ''browser is not accepting cookies...''
At first I thought it was a Firefox issue, so then I tried Safari and same message.
Both browsers are configured to accept cookies properly and were working seamlessly just a day ago.
SO -- I also deleted the cache and the cookies on both browsers -- no luck.
SO -- I went to my other Mac, A PowerPC G5 -- no luck -- same message on both Firefox and Safari.
SO -- I ran trusty AppleJack (the new one that finally works with Leopard) -- on both machines (MacBook Pro and Power Mac G5) -- no luck.
SO -- on the same network -- I went to the Windows XP machine (A Dell desktop) and I was able to sign on properly with no hitches.
Therefore, since I seem to have eliminated the network, Windows XP, an Intel and PowerPC Macintosh, and have eliminated a specific browser issue -- I must assume there was some new security feature that the combo update for 10.5.5 has implemented that is causing this because that is the only thing that has changed in the last day. It's only eBay that seems to manifest this strange issue. Not PayPal. No other ''secure'' site.
Anybody else having this issue? Any ideas?
I'm not a ''dumb'' Mac user. I'm the kind who goes into the Genius bar with a problem, talks to them, stumps them and then proceeds to solve the problem by myself right in front of them. Do I have to make a trip into the city just to do this again...?

Thanks. That helps narrow things down further. Now I know it's just me and just my Macintosh machines.
I do have NetBarrier (Intego) installed on both machines, but neither is set up to filter cookies because NB does a lousy job of that. I have never had that feature turned on -- and it's still disabled properly. I do, however, have the NB firewall up and running -- but again -- everything worked perfectly up to ''the day after'' the 10.5.5 update. Perhaps there are more non-OS related updates coming for things like this.

  • Satellite P100: Graphic card Issues

I have had problems with overheating... but before we get into that,
How can I figure out exactly what model I have?
I know I have a P100, but I'm looking on the bottom of my laptop and it offers no clue as to what type of P100 it is.
I want to know because I'm trying to find the most recent display driver for my laptop, which has a 7600 GeForce Go.
Also, I have very severe problems with overheating, and my laptop shuts down automatically when I run even the most basic of video programs for too long.
I want to clean up the dust in the heatsink/fan but I have no idea how to open up the laptop to do it.
This is a lot of issues for one post so thanks for any help.

    Hello
On the bottom side there must be a label with model number. Can you find it? can you post model or serial number? Anything?
What to say about overheating? Satellite P100 is older notebook model and I can imagine that dust blocks cooling grill and notebook hardware cannot be cooled down properly. The best way to make notebook clean is disassembling but you do not have maintenance manuals and you should not do this alone. All you can do is to use vacuum cleaner.
If you want to do this on professional way, contact service. At the moment try to place notebook a little bit higher, maybe on 4 CD boxes or something. So you will have more distance between desk and your Satellite notebook.

  • Satellite Pro A200: Card Reader does not work after XP installation

    Hi...
I have removed Windows Vista from my Satellite Pro A200 in favour of XP Home.
I'm much happier with the machine now but am unable to get any response from the Card Reader. There's no mention of it in the User's Manual that came with the machine.
I can't find any reference to it in the Control Panel's Hardware Manager and nothing changes in there when I insert an SD memory card.
I didn't have cause to try the reader prior to removing Vista, so I don't know if it ever worked... although I imagine that it did.
Running a search for a driver in the download section didn't have any success and this forum has no direct answers.
Does anyone have any idea what I need to do to get this to work?
    Popa Mintin.

    Hi
I dont see any serious reasons why your card reader shouldnt run/function with installed Windows XP.
What you need is the right driver.
The Toshiba driver page provides all Win XP drivers and there is also an XP driver for the multi card reader.
You need a Texas Instruments Flash Media Driver. This is a driver for your Bridge Media Slot.
This slot lets you insert either a SD card, Memory Stick (Pro) or xD picture card.
    Cheers

  • Can I change my Macbook Air's Graphics card?

Hello, I'm having a problem with my Macbook Air's graphics card. When i open After Effects CC, it says that i need an approved NVIDIA Graphics. That in other means, should I change my Macbook Air's graphics card? Even some programs requires me an NVidia Graphics or ATI graphics to render the media. This annoys me a lot as i can't render the media out the software!
So, is there any possible way i can customise my Macbook Air's Graphics by changing it or some sort?
Service it? Pay it? Ask the iBox store? Dismantle it myself? Please help!!
    Product: Macbook Air (128 GB)
    Operating System: OSX Mavericks 10.9.4
Processor: 1.4 GHz Intel Core i5
Graphics: Intel HD 5000                    -----------> Needs to be changed!!!
    Memory: 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Thanks afterwards!   =D

    Hi.
Macbook Airs only handle integrated graphics card, and there is no slot on the Motherboard to add one. If you want a discrete graphics card, to use with professional software, you need to go towards an iMac, Mac Pro or 15 inch Macbook Pro Retina. If you do not want to buy a new machine, you could get an older second hand Macbook Pro with a discrete graphics card.
The Macbook air isn't built to use this kind of software.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    James

  • Switching from ATI to NVIDIA graphic card caused initscript to break

First off, I want to apologize for having to use a random BugMeNot account but the "What is the output of "date -u +%W$(uname)|sha256sum|sed 's/\W//g'"?" question is literally impossible for me to answer as my Arch Linux system will not boot up.
Well, that aside, I've run into a relatively serious problem. I used to have an ATI card in my system, using the catalyst driver and catalyst-hook to make sure it would keep working after kernel updates but then disaster stroke. My power supply died and dragged my graphic card down with it. After bringing it to a PC store for repair, I now have the NVIDIA GeForce GTX550 Ti card in it. All fine and well, until I wanted to start Arch Linux to remove my catalyst driver and install the NVIDIA one. I started the system, the initscript started to run, did a small part of it's tasks and while processing UDev events it started to spit errors regarding noveau and refused to boot up. (It only showed those errors for a very short time, so it's hard to get the exact error message. I've typed it over from an image I took with my mobile phone and the blurry image may make it possible for this to contain typos)
    Error message:

    Things I have tried:
    - Starting Arch Linux fallback
    - Starting Arch Linux on runlevel 1
    - Shouting at Arch Linux in frustration
However, all three things resulted in the exact same issue.
If anyone knows what to do or has even the slightest hint, I'd love to know.
Thanks in advance and have a nice day,
    - TheLastProject

Hm, I'd try to put the nvidia card out and to plug the gfx cable into the socket of your onboard graphics chip, if any.
Then boot into runlevel 3 (text mode) and uninstall the ati drivers. Poweroff, put your nv-card in, boot and install Xorg and the appropriate nvidia driver (just follow the wikis).
If you can't boot into rl3 at all however, edit the grub's command line (or "kernel line") and add single at the and. After booting into runlevel 1 as a single user this way, enter init 3 for rl3. Finally edit /etc/inittab accordingly. -- Alternatively you can edit /etc/inittab with booting your Arch cd, and being chroot'ed.

  • MBP Cycles Through the Graphic Cards when MS Office Apps Load Templates

I am preparing my MacBook Pro mid-2010, running Mavericks, for my girlfriend. I created an admin account for her and deleted mine, as well as my old user files. But now, when opening MS 2011 apps (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), while loading the the template gallery, the computer starts cycling between the integrated and Nvidia graphic cards many times, making the screen flicker and the process takes a long time. I have gfxCardStatus and it sends tens of notifications to OS X, which keep popping up on the screen. The video card cycling also happens while selecting 'File -> New from Template...'. If I disable the Automatic Graphics Switching, so only the Nvidia card is active, loading the templates is very fast (but this is not a solution, really).
I reinstalled Office 2011, updated it to version 14.3.9, but it did not help.
This was not happening before, when I was using the computer from my account (and neither happens on my late-2013 RMBP). This phenomenon is very frustrating when opening and using the MS Office apps and I will really appreciate your help to fix this.
    Thank you.

    Anyone, please?
I noticed that the switching back-and-forth happens only in MS Word and MS Excel, as MS PowerPoint and MS Outlook are supposed to permanently use the the discrete card anyway. To reiterate, the switching between the graphic cards happens only while loading the templates in MS Word and MS Excel (when the program starts) and is very annoying, and it sometimes even crashes my gfxCardStatus, too.
I hope someone could please suggest some ideas. Thank you.

  • Is there a Replacement Program for 2009 iMacs with MXM Graphics Cards?

I have an iMac 24" Early 2009 with the Nvidia GeForce GT 120 256MB MXM graphics card that is freezing and crashing over-and-over, especially when I'm away and it's not connected to my 2nd display! Odd. I've done the usual (cleaned the iMac inside, run fsck, SMC reset, PRAM reset, repair permissions from boot USB, disconnected all peripherals, changed mice and keyboards, changed the HD, reinstalled the OS, run Onyx and so on) and finally decided that it's a faulty graphics card that only a replacement will fix. When I'm home it's more stable when connected via a Displayport DVI adapter to DVI cable to a 24" Dell display. When standalone (like when traveling with my iMac for long stints out of town) it's unusable. It won't run for longer than 30 minutes, often not even 10 minutes, then I get screen artifacts and freezes and then have to fsck to repair the drive before running it again. Only running it in Safe Mode will allow it to run reliably.
However, I believe that I found a stopgap solution. I installed a program which I downloaded after installing XCode called Quartz Debug which has apparently allowed me to disable Quartz Extreme, 2D Acceleration and Quartz GL.
Turning off all Quartz graphics enhancements makes this machine stable if not exactly completely "mac-like" in its performance, but it's at least usable under most conditions for long periods of time. I know of people who have replaced the MXM graphics card on this machine with good effect, but it's an expensive proposition and these cards are apparently few and far between. Has anyone done this?
Based on the large number of nearly identical complaints about this model, both here and elsewhere, it seems like this MXM graphics card is defective or Apple's drivers are defective . . . well maybe, but it very, very predictably crashes when the computer gets hotter and not even _extremely_ hot, but well within what would be normal operating temps for other machines.
I've disassembled and completely cleaned the inside and have replaced the HD with an SSD and removed the optical drive entirely so if anything I've reduced heat-producing devices from the interior of the device installed a fan control and keep the graphics card features mostly turned off.
I've looked for but have yet to see a recall or warranty replacement program for this device and no, I don't have Applecare. I've owned several Apple products in the last two decades and with the issues with Apple products in recent years, it seems like Applecare must be figured as part of any Apple purchase if reliability and ongoing support is desired.
Ironically, I have an Apple IIc and a Power Computing Power Tower 166 that still work just fine, thank you!
    JoeL
    Atlanta, GA

This cropped up on my wife's late 2009 model 27" iMac, too.  Random freezes were encountered, unable to identify cause for months, then one day it started to become unable to complete a normal boot.  Tech Tool Deluxe was the only direct indication as far as diagnostics are concerned.  I've NEVER been abvle to get Apple's hardware diagnostic to run from the cloud, and we fianlly got it on a Techs' bench, AHT showed nothing wrong.  As you said, Safe boot is the only way to get into the system, and performance under 10.8.5 is glacial.
Now the kicker - we DID have AppleCare, and this phase of the MXM graphics demise hit within 4 or 5 months of AppleCare expiration.  There's no longer a flat-rate repair option, Apple doesn't have any stock of the video board to sell as a replacement part (was $169, or $179 w/no exchange) and even refurbs of this paltry (512MB VRAM) board can hit $300.  I know Mac users have become 2nd-class citizens in Apple's business universe, but we're now looking at sub-42 month lifespans for hardware?  At $2k for a machine that lacks touchscreen option, that's out of line.

  • K430 Graphic Card question -

    Hello Community,
I purchased the new Ideacentre K430 i7 3770. My unit has a HD Radeon 7750 Graphic card. My probloem and question is:
the graphic card has only a HDMI and a VGA ports. I desperately need Dual Link DVI. Of couse I thought that it would have DVI because I believed that all new Graphic cards had DVI or Displayport. I was shocked when I got it home and ther was only HDMI and an old VGA port.
I have the RZ30W high end "30 monitor  from HP and it only has Dual link DVI and Displayport. Any tips, I can't seem to find an adaptor from HDMI to Dual Link DVI? I have tried 2 and both were single link and did not work.
Can I have Lenovo trade out the Graphic card for the same one but with the ports I need???
Oddly, I am unable to find the HD Radeon 7750 with my port configuration--- they always seem top come with the ports I need. That is why I bought it !!!!!
    Help !!!
Thanks for any response in advance.
    Chris

Hey There, what it seems like to me, is you need to download your video drivers from the website. Just go to the Support & Drivers page, put in your product, and download/install the video driver. And That should take care of your issue.

  • Unable to Launch Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 using High-Performance on AMD Radeon Graphic Card

I have been unable to launch Adobe Premiere Pro since installing it with the error message "Adobe Premiere Pro could not find any capable video play modules. Please update your video display drivers and start again"
    Here are my specs:
    Lenovo Ideapad U400
    Windows 7 (64bit)
    Intel i5 2.5 ghz processor
    AMD Radeon 6470M graphics card
The only occasion during which I have successfully launched Premiere Pro was after reverting to the default graphics card on my computer and uninstalling AMD Radeon, otherwise, I have tried to change Premiere Pro to run on High-Performance on Catalyst Control Center to no avail, I do not wish to revert to the Standard Graphics Card as it slows down my computers performance one hell of a lot, neither do I wish to have to constantly uninstall and reinstall my AMD Radeon Graphics Card when I use Premiere Pro. Thank you for your time.

    Update:
    - with Intel (R) HD Graphics Card disabled, Catalyst Control Center reports that no AMD Graphic card is installed
    - using Device Manager under Control Panel, AMD Radeon 6470M was verified to be up-to-date
    - Premiere Pro works so long as I disable the Intel card before launch, however, I re-enable it upon startup to get rid of the 800x600 resolution
    - AMD Mobility Radeon Driver Verification Tool is unable to verify and update my driver, refers me to lenovo to update it.
    - My graphics card is up-to-date as verified by lenovo
    - Intel (R) HD Graphics Card now up-to-date
    - Display currently mainly using Intel (R) HD Graphics Card (Possibly why it caps resolution at 1024x768 when disabled) I'm not sure how to switch the main Graphics Card used, Catalyst Control Center doesn't seem to have the option.
    - when disabled, computer reverts to vgasave instead of Radeon
    - Disabling Radeon does nothing to existing display
    - After updating my Intel card, Catalyst Control Center reported CCC was not supported by the current display adapter
    - CCC worked after rolling back Intel card
From what I infer, I believe the problem to root from my intel card being the main card used, if there is anyway to switch my radeon card to the default instead of the Intel card, do tell me, I believe this may solve the problem, I apologise for troubling you guys, and I'm starting to feel that I shouldn't be troubling Adobe with my problem with AMD, this discussion is probably really out of place but I hope it will help out others with a similar problem.

  • Graphics Card shortage for G5 Dual 2.0 GHz?

This is more a comment maybe out of frustration than anything. Sorry. I have a G5 Tower Dual 2.0 GHz with ATI 9800 Pro w/128 Ram. 1.5 Meg of memory.
Been a Apple/Mac supporter for over 20+ years. If anyone has any suggestions as you read on, please let me know.
I bought my G5 in late 2004 so it has operated excellently for a number of years. Of course, my Applecare expired a couple of months ago and now a week ago, it appears that my orginal graphics card has gone out. After about 2 or 3 minutes from bootup, the screen begins filling up with artifacts. You can still see the desktop, but it is pretty messed up.
The original graphics card was an ATI 9800 Pro with 128 meg of ram. I contacted an Apple service center in Kansas and was told that they can get me the original card but it would cost me $600. What's with that price? Plus it would be on backorder for an unknown lenghth of time.
Or, I can get an ATI X800XT which is supposed to be about 2X the video for $300. A no brainer. I ordered it. Except, same thing, on backorder until the end of February 2007. I was told that these (2) graphics cards are the only ones that will work in my G5.
In any case, my computer will be down for nearly 3 weeks while I wait on this video card. Not a pleasant situation. I went on line looking for some place that I could maybe get a ATI X800XT sooner. No luck. Each place I went says "On Order".
So here my computer is dead in the water for 3 to 4 weeks. Thanks for any help.

    Hi
I could be wrong, but I believe the shortage may be related to RoHS, the Restriction of Hazardous Substances directive. It was adopted by the European Union in 2003 to restrict the usage of lead, mercury, cadmium and other substances. I believe ATI may have just started manufacturing graphics cards which now conform to this directive, but there's been a shortage between the old stock being sold off and the new stock being introduced. Unfortunately this doesn't help, but may explain what's happening.

  • What graphics card is in my Mac?

    Hi all,
I'd like to find-out what graphics card is in my Mac.
    system_profiler list the following:
    PCI/AGP Cards:
    ATY,RV360:
    Type: display
    Bus: AGP
    Slot: SLOT-1
    VRAM (Total): 128 MB
    Vendor: ATI (0x1002)
    Device ID: 0x4152
    Revision ID: 0x0000
    ROM Revision: 113-A13602-121
If indeed this is the graphics card, it only tells me Radeon, but which model?
In the "Extensions:" list one may find many (e.g. 8500, 9700, Rage etc), but
    this is a different story.
Does anyone know how to get the model from the system?
    Thanks
    Miklos

    The key is the line:
    <pre class=command>ATY,RV360:</pre>
If you lookup "ATI' and 'RV360' you'll find it matches the ATI Radeon 9600XT chipset.
You can also download ATI's driver utility to get information on your video card: https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894
