Satellite A110 reboots automatically after every shutdown

Hi!
I have the following problem:
When shutting down the system, my notebook first goes off completely as desired, but 2 seconds later it starts again. It behaves different from a usual reboot - then it does not turn off, but reboots directly. Furthermore I can exclude software problems, since I tested it with different operating systems and the behaviour is the same everywhere. This problem was not there earlier, but then suddenly occurred and is now there every time.
Ah, also important is that if the AC adaptor is NOT connected (i.e. notebook runs solely on battery), the problem does not occur. If the notebook runs on AC power, the problem occurs, no matter whether the battery is in the notebook or not.
Can someone help? Every hint is highly appreciated!
My notebook is a
Satellite A110-228
Part Number : PSAB0E-00J007GR
Thank you very much!

I have the same problem on an A135. I've updated the bios. I changed out the hard drive. (I have a few of these computers.) THIS IS NOT A SOFTWARE or FIRMWARE problem. This is a hardware problem. I just don't know what kind. When the power cord is plugged in the computer will not hibernate or turn off correctly. It will shut down then start up again in 5 seconds. When the power cord is unplugged both hibernate and shutdown work correctly. However, sleep mode doesn't work in either condition. Sleep mode always turns off the computer without doing a proper shutdown. Anyone have any ideas??

  • Any suggestions, or fixes, as to why I have to rebuild my library after EVERY shutdown? I am running the latest 10.6, 2.92 ghz iMac core 2 duo, with 4gb ram.

Any suggestions, or fixes, as to why I have to rebuild my library after EVERY shutdown? I am running the latest 10.6, 2.92 ghz iMac core 2 duo, with 4gb ram. Install went well, as far as I know. No other problems. I fear, that unless I fix this, when I upgrade to a new computer, I will be taking the same problem with me.

So if you start Aperture do some stuff in it, quit, then open Aperture again it starts up OK but if you then quit Aperture, reboot your machine and start Aperture it stalls?
You're internal drive is getting close to being overfull your at about what 18.5% free space (some we'll say it's already overfull). You might what to think about freeing up space. If you weren't having any troubles I'd say it was fine but as you are experiencing problems it is something to look at.
While its been doing the processing have you been able to open the activity window in Aperture? If you click on the spinnig gear (not the beachball)  when Aperture is busy you can usually get the activity window to open.
Other then that not sure what else to recommend at this point.

  • Motorola DROID X Restarts Automatically After I  Shutdown

My Motorola DROID X Now Restarts Automatically After I  Shut It Down (50% of the time?). It worked great at first.
I have used soft & hard resets & this problem persists.
Is there a software fix for this?

Thank you Vanessa for acknowledging the problem and for Verizon working on a solution!

Good morning and thanks for all the feedback!
This issue has been lifted up, as there have been other reports of the Droid X powering up on its own after being turned off.  Our product team is working to resolve this; however, there is no date on a software resolution yet.  Once a software update becomes available, it will be pushed through your phone.
    We appreciate your patience.

  • Satellite A60 stops automatically after about 1/2 - 1h of usage

    Hello,
My PC stops automatically after about 1/2-1 h of operation.
    Can you help ?
    Thank you.

    Hi
Sounds a little bit like a overheating
Did you notice a higher temperature?
High temp could affect the hardware parts like CPU, RAM, GPU
What do you think about that?
The A60 is a little bit old and I think there could be dust inside the fans check if you can remove dust using compressed air spray.
This should help to decrease the temp.

  • Z87 MPOWER reboots automatically after shutdown with latest BIOS

    Hi!
I was having some problems with the RAM using XMP profile (CORSAIR CMD16GX3M2A1866C9 2*8GB 1866MHz Cl9). Mainly I had some occasional reboots at windows startup and some rare random blue-screens but it all went away after updating the BIOS to version 1.7 .
But now I'm having another issue. After shutting down the PC it turns itself on after 1 second. It only started to happen after the 1.7 update. Any ideas of what it might be?

  • WPA key erased after every shutdown

    Hi
I have two wifi connections setup on my laptop:
CTO (for when I'm at uni, WPA-PSK)
frogs (for when I'm at home, WPA-PSK)
I do not have any problem with the connection "CTO", but I can't say the same with "frogs":
Every time I shutdown my PC and then turn it back on, I cannot connect to the network "frogs"!
I have noticed that every time, the WPA key of the network frogs is replaced by 0s.
I therefore need to put the original key back, and then it works fine...until the next shutdown.
I tried to lock the controls of the network connections, but on the next reboot, I find them unlock!
I tried to delete the connection and then create it again, but that did not solve the problem...
Any ideas on what I can do?
    Thanks

Or Internet Connect/Networks... wherever you made them in
    the 1st place?
yes, that's what I was talking about.
(ie: no save password box when creating the connection)
Have you tried the Menu Item... Repair Keychain or whatever
    it's called?
yes, I did a verification, which found an error:
    Verification started
Checking keychain configuration for Timothy Stubbs (user ID=501)
    Home directory is /Users/Tim
    Checked login keychain
    Checked password for ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain
    Checked settings for ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain
Settings for ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain may cause the keychain to be locked
    Current values: lockOnSleep=no, autoLock=never
User differs on ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.security.plist, should be 501, owner is 0
    Checked default keychain
    Checked keychain search list
    Checked contents of ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain
    Checked contents of /Library/Keychains/FileVaultMaster.keychain
Problems were found; you should choose the Repair option to fix them
    Verification failed
I then did a repair which was successful.
After that, I tried to delete & re-create the connection hoping that the ownership of the file was causing the problem...but after a reboot, same problem
It asks for a password, but surprisingly, the admin
    password does not work...
I just checked, it actually ask for the "keychain password".
I don't remember setting that up...and if I did, I most likely put the same as my admin password.

  • Problems with mail after every shutdown

I posted a few days ago when mail kept crashing following the security update (probably due to me not closing all applications before installing).
I managed to get mail working again by resetting the junk mail filter.
However, since then I have had problems with mail every time I restart my computer. Every morning, it mail crashes when I open it. I have fixed it a few times by quickly deleting select messages from my inbox before it crashes, but today I can't even do that. Resetting junk mail filter doesn't seem to work now. It's weird because once I get mail open I can close/open with no problem. I only have problems again after I have shutdown the computer.
I verified the start up disk and permissions - there were no problems there - and I also checked for corrupted fonts (I have been reading all the suggestions posted on this site to people having similar problems).
    The console log reads:

As I said in the other thread, in your case Mail was crashing because of a problem with Address Book, so it should be no surprise that resetting the junk filter didn’t really fix the problem. It would have been more appropriate to post back there instead of starting a new thread...
If Address Book itself works fine, the problem is probably the Previous Recipients list that Mail stores in the Address Book database. If you can do this without Mail crashing, in Mail open Window > Previous Recipients and remove all the entries from there.
If that doesn’t work, you’ll have to re-create the entire Address Book database:
    1. If you have a .Mac account and .Mac synchronization of Address Book data is enabled either in Address Book > Preferences > General or in System Preferences > .Mac, disable it before proceeding.
    2. You may also need to reset the entire sync history (iSync > Preferences > Reset Sync History) to avoid synchronization issues if you use .Mac or iSync to synchronize your Address Book with other computers or devices.
    3. Open Address Book.
    4. As an extra safety measure, do File > Back up Address Book and save the backup wherever you wish.
    5. Go to Address Book > Preferences > vCard, set the vCard Format to 3.0 and check Export notes in vCards. Close the Preferences window when done.
    6. Select the All group in the main Address Book window and do File > Export Group vCard (the command should read “Export Group vCard”, not just “Export vCard”).
    7. Quit Address Book, Mail, and any other applications that might use Address Book for something. Or just quit all applications to be on the safe side.
    8. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Application Support/ and move the entire AddressBook folder out of there, e.g. to the Desktop (to be deleted after fixing the problem and making sure you don’t miss anything).
    9. Check whether the problem is fixed now. If it is, you may be able to restore your contacts without the problem happening again by opening Address Book and doing File > Import > vCards to import the previously exported cards back into Address Book.
    10. If the problem has been fixed and .Mac synchronization of Address Book data was enabled at the beginning, enable it again, go to System Preferences > .Mac > Advanced, click Reset Sync Data, and choose the appropriate options to reset the Address Book data stored on the .Mac server with the data locally stored on the computer, i.e. sync data must flow from the computer to the .Mac server.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. That is, ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder, i.e. /Users/username/Library.

  • Altec-Lansing XT1 speakers need to be unplugged after every shutdown

I recently bought a set of Altec-lansing XT1 speakers, partly because I read lots of good reviews but mostly because I missed being able to use my iSub.
They sound better than the internal speakers and having a subwoofer again makes a world of diffecence.
But one problem is becoming increasingly annoying: every time I shut down the computer, I have to unplug and re-plug the speakers' USB cord to get them working.
I have checked the settings in system prefs, MIDI setup and Garage Band, but nothing will make them work each restart except unplugging/plugging USB.
    Any suggestions?

    I have some more clues/data...
If I connect the XT1 USB Speakers to my PowerBook G4 running 10.4.8, everything works perfectly, reboot, power-up, everything.
One difference I noticed, on the PowerBook, the XT1's blue power LED is lit a second or two before the gray apple appears on boot and stays solid blue from that point on.
On the Mac Pro, the XT1's blue power LED is lit a second or two before the gray apple appears (like the PB) BUT shortly after the gray apple appears the blue LED flashes for less than a second.
If the Mac Pro USB Audio driver mutes the XT1 the blue LED will go out. If the USB power flickers the blue LED will go out.
    More clues, more confused.

At first drain the battery till the iPhone gets off for many times isnt really a good thing read this:

after that I think the only way that will help you is restore the iPhone and the bad news are that you should do it without restore a backup after cause you're problem could be saved in the backup of the phone too so you must manually reinstall apps, preferences etc etc

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless uninstalls after every shutdown

I have had nothing but problems with my fairly new 8500 since updating the operating system from vista to windows 7.  I have had all of those scanner problems (another thread), have had to reinstall for various reasons, lost hp solutions many times, etc.  I have weathered through them all and thought I finally had things worked out...
But, I was wrong.  For the last month or longer (it's hard to think back...), the printer has worked fine EXCEPT when I shut down the computer completely.  Then I lose the printer completely and have to do an entire reinstall all over again.  I then have issues with reinstallation once in a while, says the installation is not successful, then I have to uninstall and try again, reboot, etc.  It has been a royal pain.  This last week errors started coming up saying the document failed to print (bottom right) even though it DID print.  So of course I ignore the annoying messages since it was working.  And I have been trying to keep my computer on nonstop so I don't have to reinstall, but it's becoming a problem.  Sometimes a computer needs a rest, there's a thunderstorm, etc.
So it's now happened again for the millionth time, and I just had to go through the process of re-installing twice before it worked.  But this is ridiculous.  And googling I could not find anyone else with these issues??  The computer shuts down and when I start it back up, the HP Solutions does not work and the printer is not there in devices and printers anymore.
Does anyone have a solution before I chuck this fairly new printer out the window?  I have had hp printers for a million years.  The last one was awful and I chucked it before it should have been chucked, thinking it was just one lemon.  But now this.  Next one, not hp.    THANKS!

There is a patch for this just released for most Photosmarts.  I would guess there will be one for Officejets soon.  Check back at: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3752462&

Here's what to do to correct :
Erase those 2 files : "com.apple.AutoWake.plist" and "com.apple.PowerManagement.plist" in the Directory:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/
While done, shut it down. If it restarts again, just shut it down one more time. After this, it will stays quiet until you ask it to reopen.

  • Satellite A110: DLL error after security update

After the Inst. of the last security update from the 04.04.2007 I have the following error message after the system start:
    RTHDCPL.EXE-illigales shift to a System-DLL
The System-DLL "user32.dll" it was shifted in the memory. The application is not explained perfectly. The file was shifted,
because the DLL "C:WINDOWSsystem32HHCTLR.OCX" book an address area which is booked for Windows-System-DLL's.
If they procure for themselves from the DLL supplier a new DLL.
After a system restoration the error message, after the renewed Inst. of the Window update was away again there.
    Can somebody help me there?
    Many thanks greeting
    U.Z.

I agree with Mike. Before you will start a new thread you should check the threads which were already posted here in the forum.
It makes no sense to open new threads about the same problem!!!
Take a look in this thread:
