Satellite a135-s4527 optical drive code 10

The optical drive stopped working.  It is listed in device manager but has a code 10.  It will not read any media, and does not show up in My Computer.  Any suggestions?

  • Satellite A135-S4527 - Drivers needed & Function Keys do not work

    Hello,
I have a Satellite A135-S4527. But, when I got this computer it was without a recovery disk / Vista Reinstall Disk and the Vista OS that was installed was a bloated mess - it was highly used by a individual of lesser intellect. Anyway, I decided to take out that Hard Drive and put in my SSD with Windows XP Professional SP3.
Thats when the problems started rolling in. Turns out Toshiba does not support Windows XP Operating System - I checked the site and was surprised to see a complete lack of support for Windows XP ( even though Windows XP is the dominant OS and was even more so when this laptop was made).
I managed to get the drivers installed, for everything but the modem. Easiest to find drivers were from Intel for the Chipset / Motherboard and the Legacy Graphical Processing Unit. The thing is, I am not sure whether or not these are the official drivers and I am completely lost on the drivers for the modem. Any idea where I can acquire the -latest and greatest- drivers for all my components?
Also there are a few problems,
    - Function Keys For Brightness Do Nothing
    - Laptop sometimes does not come out of sleep mode
What can I do about the brightness keys? The monitor is sometimes a bit too bright to be comfortable to use. Yet I am having no luck making those keys actually do anything.
    Any help appreciated.

    Hi
From my knowledge this must be a Toshiba US notebook series.
Therefore I visited the Toshiba US driver page to check the driver availability.
And guess what? I found it but unfortunately there are no many Win XP drivers.
There are Vista and Win 7 drivers available but no Win XP.
I guess that this is everything what is available for Win XP.
    So what to do????
I think you should try to install the missing tools which are released for other notebook series; for example A105-Sxxxxxx
Maybe you will get the driver working
Lets hope. Otherwise you will have to use the notebook without such functions

  • A135-S4527 - DVD Drive won't read CDs but works with DVDs

My Toshiba Satellite A135-S4527 is running Windows Vista Home Premium with SP1. It has a MAT**bleep**A DVD-RAM UJ-850S ATA Device DVD/CD-ROM drive (from System Information). It will not read CDs in the drive anymore. It doesn't give an error or anything. It just acts like nothing is in the drive. However, it does still read DVDs. Anyone have a fix for this?
    Thanks,
    Jason

You can find drives for your A25-S207 at http://www.sparepartswarehouse.com
Many users have reported difficulties with generic replacement drives purchased on eBay.  These drives often lack the proper firmware required to operate in Toshiba notebooks.  I'd suggest buying an exact replacement from a vendor that handles Toshiba parts.

  • Re: Satellite A135-S4527: Need all XP drivers

Need all drivers xp for A135-S4527.
    Gracias

The Satellite A135-S4527 was designed for the US market. In my knowledge all Toshiba series with the 5 at the end are US notebooks.
Therefore you should check the Toshiba US driver website.
    Here is the link:
    http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/home.to
If you will not find the necessary XP drivers then either you will have to wait till the drivers will be released or you will try some single XP drivers directly from the chip manufacture websites.

  • What kind of RAM I need for my Satellite A135-S4527?

I have a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4527. It came with 1GB RAM (DDR2 SDRAM). I'd like to upgrade it to 2... Just wondering if anyone knows what kind/brand of RAM is installed from the factory, and if it's installed as 2x512 or 1x1024.
    Thanks.

The specification of your notebook model is not known to me but if you want to upgrade RAM check please this Kingston page .

  • Satellite M645 S4070 optical drive problem

I have used my laptop for a year without problem.
Last weekend, i just noticed that my optical drive did not work any more.  When I put a DVD in, the drive indicator light flashed for couple seconds, then off.
I checked device manager, the system shows the optical drive information, but with a exclamation mark which means sth is wrong.
I uninstalled the driver and restarted my laptop.  It shows that the driver was not properly installed.
By the way, I believe that I already disabled ODD power on/off utility.  I use windows 7.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you.

    Hi Peter,
I am having the same trouble as numerous others have mentioned on the board.  I have a Satellite L635 running Windows 7 and although I have had it for just about a year now, I have had no problems with the CD/DVD drive (very little used BTW) until today.  I've searched the boards and have done everything suggested...I already had all my power options where they should be (except my model does *not* have one specific for the optical drive--just the cooling method and FN Tab doesn't work on my model either), so I tried to uninstall the power saver, rebooted, and it didn't work.  I tried MS Fixit and it didn't work.  I went to the run command prompt and typed in regedit like another post suggested and went through those directions. All I had listed was upper filter, so I deleted that, rebooted, and found that it messed with my iTunes settings.  I had to install the lastest version of that anyways, so now, 7 hours later after the drive first took a crap, my iTunes is still giving me the message that "The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing.  This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software.  Please reinstall iTunes."
After I had done the bulk of all of the suggestions, I rebooted and I was able to get info off of one disc, but then it crapped out again part-way through the second one.  Any other suggestions???

  • Satellite A135-S4527 Sleep issues

Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit
    1gb ram
    80 gb hard drive
Everytime i close the lid, hit the power button, or use the start menu and try to get the computer to sleep or hibernate and all it does is shut the computer down. I've gone into power options and attempted to change it but nothing happens and i even tried updating the BIOS. But when the computer is sitting here it will go into a sleep mode but then it does not come out of it. I'm really confused and would very much appreciate some help. Thank-you

Try toggling the setting in Control Panel's Power Options with a reboot in between. This sometimes shakes minor corruption out of the registry.

  • Satellite C55-B5299 Optical Drive

I purchased two C55-B5299 laptops for my grandkids for Christmas and didn't realize they didn't have an optical drive.  After removing the insert blank and looking in the side slot of the unit, it looks like a drive can be installed on the laptop.  Can anyone give me a part number for a drive that will work with this particular model/

  • Satellite A135-S4527 cooling fan no longer operating efficiently

    Hi,
I have an A135-S4527 and the cooling fan is having issues.
It runs at low speed constantly, as it usually does, but it hardly ever runs in high speed mode.
It clearly needs to as the air temperature is quite high... about the temperature of a typical vehicle's exhaust.
I'm worried it will burn itself up if I don't have it fixed, but I don't know what needs to be fixed.
I use a USB-powered "Chill-Pad" under it at all times to make it run cooler than factory settings, but this problem has only cropped up recently.
I've owned this computer for a little less than two years now.
About 5 months into ownership, the HDD failed and had to be replaced (needless to say, I backup ALL my important files now).
Does anyone have any information on this topic or the normal operation of the cooling fan?
If so, it'd be greatly appreciated.
    Nick

    Hi!
As Akuma said it could be that you have to more dust in the cooling ventilators or that the fan doesnt work properly.
So in your case I would try to clean first by using compressed air spray. This could blow out the dust from the cooling ventilators. You can buy it from a computer dealer.
If it doesnt work you should sent it to an authorized service provider. The technicians can check your notebook and clean it.
Maybe the thermal grease must be renewed and the technicians can do this for you. Its a little bit tricky to disassemble a notebook and you must remove a lot of screws so sent it to an ASP.

  • Satellite 5200-902: Optical drive replacement

    Hi,
Im trying to replace my Panasonic uj-810 multi-drive with a new Panasonic uj-845 one. The problem is that it does not boot with the drive inserted. If the drive is inserted with windows running, nothing happens until I go and refresh device manager. Then the computer it crashes with a blue screen kernel error type thing....
If the drive is inserted while Windows is starting up, the whole system crashes without a warning... I should also mention that there is nothing wrong with the drive itself, as it works without a hitch in other computers I tried it in.
Some help would be appreciated please

    Hello Vano
The problem is that every drive is not compatible with every unit because of pin assignment. If your new drive is not compatible it can be that your unit crashes at the beginning while windows try to detect all available hardware components.
I believe you that drive is ok but as I said it is probably caused by compatibility.

  • Satellite A135-s4527 Bio password.

okay well i went on toshibas website and update my bios driver (phoenix) and ever since i did that when i go to log into the bios it tells me to enter a password, ive attempted to use backdoor passwords but nothing works and i never set one. So if anyone has an idea that would be very greatful. Thank-you

You must have missed something.  It explains EXACTLY what is wrong and how to fix it.  Unfortunately there is no user fix you need to send it to Toshiba to have the bios replaced as per the LAST 2 paragraphs.  It may not be the answer you want, but it is the answer you need
    Issue:
A "Password =" prompt may be displayed when the computer is turned on, even though no power-on password has been set. If this happens, there is no password that will satisfy the password request. The computer will be unusable until this problem is resolved.
If the problem has not happened yet, verify that your computer has the BIOS currently available from the Toshiba Support website. See detailed instructions below.
Your computer's BIOS may already include the fix for this problem, depending upon the model, and when it was manufactured.
This Support Bulletin is not a notice of a new BIOS for your computer; it's a notice that the password prompt problem has been fixed in relatively new BIOS releases.
The occurrence of this problem on any particular computer is unpredictable -- it may never happen, but it could happen any time that the computer is turned on. If this problem does occur, it will be necessary to send the computer to a Toshiba Authorized Service Provider.
    Resolution:
If this problem has not yet occurred, then check your computer's BIOS version, and update it, if a newer BIOS is available.
For Windows Vista, click the Windows Start button, type "msinfo32" in the Search field, and press Enter. The System Information utility will appear, listing the computer's BIOS version in the pane at right.
For Windows XP, click the Windows Start button, click Run, type "msinfo32" in the Open field, and press Enter. The System Information utility will appear, listing the computer's BIOS version in the pane at right.
Next, visit the Toshiba Support website, at support.toshiba.com, click Download, choose your computer from the model lists, and click Go. On the search results page, click the All Categories field, then click BIOS. A new results page will appear, showing just the current BIOS version for your computer. If you click the link for the BIOS, the Change History will appear, allowing you to review revisions to successive versions of the BIOS. The fix for the password prompt problem may be listed as "auto password prompt pop-ups", or a similar phrase.
If the version number of the BIOS listed on the Toshiba Support website is greater (newer) than the BIOS version displayed by the System Information utility, then connect the AC adapter to the computer, and click the Download Now button to download and install the BIOS.
For more help, see Support Bulletin 98081213 Obtaining downloads and support docs from the Toshiba Support website.
If the problem has already occurred on your computer, then please make arrangements with a Toshiba Authorized Service Provider to have this problem resolved. Toshiba will cover the cost of this repair under warranty until Dec 31, 2010.
To locate a Toshiba Authorized Service Provider (ASP), please visit the Toshiba Global ASP Locator at pcrepair.toshiba.com
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

  • Satellite A135-s4527-blue screen error

I have recently developed a major problem with my laptop.  When I turn it on, it runs through the Toshiba screen and then to a blue screen that tells me a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down.  The technical information reads as follows:  STOP:  0x0000c1F5  (0x00000000,0x00000000,0x00000000,0x00000000)
I have tried to start in safe mode but sends me back to this screen.  Tried recovery discs and they seemed to load but then looped back to this screen.  Tried to start with F8 and every option after but always loops back to this screen.
I took it in to a local computer shop.  They also tried all of the above and told me that they recently had the exact model in with the exact problem and they had to put a new motherboard in.  (They didn't charge me cause they didn't fix anything.)
Now I am faced with the decision to replace the motherboard and hope that's the problem.  OR put that money toward the purchase of a new computer...which is what I'm leaning toward.
    Any suggestions?

  • Satellite A135-S4527: Need an additional AC adapter

Wishing to purchase an additional AC power cord. According to the specs at this page: http://tinyurl.com/36atls the unit came with a 65W (19V x 3.42A) 100-240V AC Adapter. However on the same spec page under Accessories it lists PA3516U-1ACA Toshiba 90W Global AC Adapter (19V, 4.7A) RoHS.
I'm confused as to which one to look for?
    Thanks - kuspie

    Hi
Looks like both adapters are compatible options and both can be used with this notebook.
Try simply contacting the ASP (authorized service partner) in your country and order the compatible AC adapter. They should send you a right one!
