Satellite A200-10W: Fn keys do not work on Win XP

I have just bought the a200 10w (psaece)and downgraded it to winxp.
The Fn 3,4,5,6,7,8,9 do not work
Also, I can not operatethe sleep and hibernate mode.
any help will be greatly appreciated

One question; Did you install the XP drivers which controls the FN keys functionality??
I think you didnt! Ive checked the Toshiba European driver page and the XP drivers for the A200 PSAEC dont exist at this time. So for me its no surprise that you cannot use the FN buttons!
Check this forum for similar questions about XP driver for A200 notebooks. There are some solution proposals!
Regarding your hibernation and standby mode question; The hibernation must be enabled in the Windows power options firstly!!!
The power option can be found in the control panel!!!

Thanks for the response....
The second issue of Linux OS has been solved, the issue was caused by the ATI card which was not supported.
Regarding the FN issue, I can use FN+F1 & F2 & F3 & F4 & F5, for the rest of the option of F6 & F7 & F8 till F12 is not working with me!!
I checked the usage of the buttons and its all working, only with the feature of using it with Fn key its not working!!! This issue is on Windows XP.
I tried to update and to re-install the keyboard and re-install the FN features but nothing happen.
Before it was working great.
Just to remind my notebook is Satellite M100 series.

Satellite M70: Control button keys are not working

I currently reformatted my M70 to WinXp Pro Sp2, downloaded all related TOSHIBA drivers and related programs [ie. Toshiba control button driver / program] and system is running normal. However, CONTROL BUTTON keys are not working, was working fine with XP Home edition and Win Media but when I called Toshiba Support they couldn't help me because I had upgraded to Xp Pro. My Question is...Is there a fix or a solution to this issue and where can I download or find this fix.

Thanks for the advice, however, I did download the control driver and the controls program for the M70 model AND installed them in that order. The Controls Driver installs correctly but unfortunately, when installing the Controls Program, I get a message that the program will not install because it's not the right version for my M70-CL3 [PSM73C]. Not sure what to do here. I would think that everything should work properly seeing as taking the step up to XPPro SP2 isn't that far of a stretch.

Satellite A300-1DG - Easy keys are not working on Windows 7

My easy key are not working but the fn keys are. I installed all drivers for Windows 7 64 bit and they are still not working?

I did a clean install, and i installed VAP, the keys are working but the first one is not, and the second one which is used for opening WMP is now used for turn on/of the illumination keys, all other are working normal. I tried reinstall the vap, with cleaning the registry and then reinstalling...but it was the same...

Satellite A200-1ZF - FN keys doesn't work in WIn7

Hello all.
Did someone had the same problem regarding FN keys on A200-1ZF?
I've reinstalled the OS, Windows 7, and after installing all drivers, i cannot modify the light of display by pressing FN+F6 or F7.
Also, doesn't work any option with combination of FN key.
Does someone know how to resolve that?

Im not A200 owner but Ive got A210.
I could get the Fn buttons working under Win 7.
Firstly in stalled the VAP for Win 7 and then I installed Toshiba Flash Card support utility for Win 7.
I downloaded both tools from the Toshiba European driver page. I have chosen the tools released for Satellite L500.
You should try this too.

Satellite L305D-S5881: Touchpad and FN keys do not work after Win 7 installation

I have recently installed windows 7 and all of a sudden yesterday my touchpad did not work.
I was not able to move my mouse arrow at all.
I had to purchase a wireless mouse so I could use my laptop.
When I press the fn key plus f9 nothing happens to see if it is enabled or disabled.

The Satellite L305D-S5881 belongs to the Toshiba US series and has been released for US market.
You will need to visit the Toshiba US driver page in order to get all drivers.
To get the touchpad working, you will need to install the Touchpad driver.
Furthermore the FN buttons are controlled by VAP (value added package) and Flash Card Support Utility.
You need to install both; firstly VAP and then Flash Cards.

Satellite A200-23P - DVD-rom mechanic not working

I have very big problem with my DVD writer (rom).
I bought SAT A200-23P three weeks ago.
The OS Win VISTA was installed. DVD-rom worked good.
If I installed Win XP to second partition on my HDD (before I make install disc with driver for sata disc in nlite) and installed all drivers and utilities for Toshiba notebook, I found that my DVD-rom does not respond while I press eject button.
DVD mechanic does not respond for eject in the XP and not even in BIOS!
Interesting is, DVD mechanic is detecting in BIOS, is detecting in XP, operating system XP votes - DVD mechanic working correctly - its fable.
However, if I installed XP on second partition, Win Vista does not load :(
I don't have a second chance for second selection (Vista and XP).
I have now XP only, even if Vista is on first partition - I didnt delete it.
Do you think the DVD-rom is HW or SW problem?
I think, seeing that DVD-rom not respond in BIOS - HW error.
But is very strange, if I install XP from DVD mechanic and close then is done, DVD-rom not working ... : (
If I open it manually and insert the disc, DVD not working (led diode not blink, just if I turn computer off, led blinked once).

Your issue is very strange I mean the CD/DVD drive issue
Fact is that the CD/DVD drives eject function should functions no matter what OS was installed on your notebook. It has nothing to do with your software on the HDD.
So I wonder why the eject button works with Vista and not with preinstalled XP OS ?:|
My only plausible explanation is that sometimes there is a loose connection between the notebook and the drive. At the other hand the issue could be related to the hardware problem too
As you see its not easy to say whats wrong exactly we can only speculate.
Now some details about your dual OS installation.
You cannot choose between the Windows XP and Vista because the Vista boot manager was overwritten during the Win XP installation.
This happened to me too. I have installed Win XP on my Satellite and was not able to start Vista.
The solution was easy; I have used another original Vista DVD (from my friend) and booted from this DVD. The Vista has renewed the boot manager and then I was able to boot the Vista.
Then I have downloaded the tool called Easy BCD.
This tool can change the settings the Vista boot manager. I have edited it and inserted a new Windwos XP OS entry.

Satellite A200 -1VG - DVD RW Drive not working

Pls i need some help with my laptop. The DVD drive on my computer is not working properly.. It plays DVDs and CDs, but when i try to burn CDs or install a new program with a CD it gets to like 97% then stops and an error message shows up. It sometimes says the message cannot Run due to some errors.
Also i keep getting disconnected off the internet every 10mins, please what can i do

When CD/DVD related software is installed (such as iTunes, Nero, virtual CD software), they install filters into the registry, which can cause compatibility problems.
1) Run Regedit (Start -> Run -> Regedit)
2) Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
3) In the right pane, delete the "UpperFilters" key, and delete the "LowerFilters" key.
4) Reboot.
If your CD/DVD programs stop working, you will need to reinstall them (preferably with an updated version).

Satellite A300 The Touch keys are not working since I got it

My sister bought this amazing laptop for me and since the date that I got it (5 months ago) , I was not able to use the touch keys on the top of the keypad. At first, I thought I was doing something wrong and that I needed to activate the, but I read the whole manual and I couldn't get an option to activate it. I am using Windows Xp professional with service pack 3. Please help me as soon as possible. I listen to music a lot while I work with my computer and it would save me a lot of time to get those buttons to work.

Thanks for your replies but in this case, it is not the Touch pad the one that it is not working. They are the touch keys that are on the top of the keypad on the right of the power on button. They are 6 of them. One seems to me for muting or unmuting the sound, other four are the regular play/pause, rewind, stops and forward button ant the other one has like the drawing of a music note. Do you know how to make them work?

I had the same problem on my Satellite A300 after Windows 7 installation. So I downloaded and installed Toshiba Value Added Package. It was pretty easy, just few clicks and one restart. What happened after restart? Yes, the FN keys works!!! :)

Satellite A305D - Some FN keys are not working

2 days ago FN keys on my notebook ceased to funtion properly, some of them work, such as Fn+F1,F6,F7, but others do not, such as Fn+F4, also when I pushed the key it used to appear a menu of every key.
I had some others problems so I deactivate everything using msconfig, restart the system and then reactivate as it was, it seems the fn hotkeys did not reactivate properly.

In such cases you should try to reinstall the drivers and tools responsible for this function keys.
Did you do that?
The Satellite A305D seems to be longs to the Toshiba US series.
I know this because of the 5 at the end of the notebook model.

Satellite A300-N20 PSAGUE FN - Keys do not work on Windows XP

I have same problems with my new purchased N20...FN keys are not working (at least most of them)... combination of FN and F5, F10 and F11 are working... N20 comes without any OS, so I put WXP and is working great... I need those other FN combination (especially for brightness)!!

Hi!
Before you can use the hibernation key combination, you must the enable the hibernation function on your notebook. You can do this in Windows power settings and then go to the hibernation tab and set the mark on Enable hibernation.
Restart the notebook and try it again.
And for what application do you try to use the function buttons? This buttons are working by default with Windows Media Player but I tested it with WinAmp and it works too. If you need advice how to activate in with WinAmp let me know.

It sounds like what I have seen multiple times on a device with moisture damage.
Even sitting on a bathroom counter during a hot steamy shower or bath can cause keyboard and trackball problems UNTIL properly dried out.
It really is more common than you think.
1. Remove the battery immediately!! Do not attempt to turn on your BlackBerry.
2. Let the device dry in a warm, dry place for 3 to 5 days* (see below)

Satellite A200-10W - Where to find Windows 7 64bit drivers?

I have a Satellite A200-10W notebook. In present I have vista x86 installed but I want to upgrade to windows 7 64 bit but I don't know where I find the drivers because on the website I can't find these.
Can anyone help me? How can I use sound card, network card, webcam and others if i haven't these drivers?

I have checked the Toshiba page and the Satellite A200-10W belongs to the PSAECE series and therefore I could find only Vista 64bit drivers:

Normally these drivers are also work on Windows 7 so you should try it. Maybe all of them will work and so you have Windows 7 with all drivers. :)

This kind of problem is known when webgui is being started from an IAC, e.g. HRWPC_FC_EXEC
You have to set parameter ~webgui_popups 1 in the service file of this IAC.
