Satellite A200-17O - How to restore Windows to factory settings?

Hi
I have a Satellite A200-17O. I want to restore Windows Vista to factory settings, I do not need to back up any files. I do not have the Product Recovery CD. When I press F8 and click the "Repair Computer" option, it will give me all the options, but when I click the option to fully recover the system (the one on the bottom), it will simply open up a window telling me to back up my data, then theres an "OK" button, and when I click that, the window will simply close and go back to the options menu. All I want is to get Vista back to Factory settings.
Thank you for your help.

Hello
Yes, normally you can restore your notebook back to factory settings using the HDD recovery option. Therefore you should follow the instructions here:
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm
If it doesnt work you have to use the Toshiba recovery disk. If your notebook didnt come with such a recovery disk you have to create it yourself using preinstalled recovery creator tool. This is mentioned in your user manual, have you checked it?
Therefore you need some blank DVDs. I would recommend DVD-R from Verbatim or TDK. Many users here have good experience with these brands.
If you have more questions, just post again! ;)

    Hello,
since I have installed XP (instead on-board-Vista) I get 2 yellow marked entries in my device-manager:
    SM-Bus-Controller
    PCI-Speichercontroller
    *...about SM-Bus-Controller
I found following Infos on Intel-Side:*
    +Issue:+
+* Windows* does not recognize the SMBus controller.+
+* Device Manager shows a yellow question mark for the SMBus controller.+
+* Device Manager lists the SMBus controller under Other Devices.+
    +Background:+
+SMBus is the System Management Bus defined by Intel in 1995. It is used in personal computers and servers for low-speed system management communications. An SMBus controller is integrated into most Intel® chipsets.+
    +Solution:+
+Download and run the Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility. This will install the chipset INF files so that Windows* properly recognizes the chipset's built-in SMBus controller.+
    +Operating System:+
    +...Windows XP Professional*, ...+
Everest told me a lot of Chipset-Entries, but which is the correct entry I need for to download the correct Utility?
*...about PCI-Speichercontroller I found following Infos on Intel-Side:*
    +Intel Turbo Memory supports+ (my) +Mobile Intel® PM965 Express Chipset and Intel® 82801HBM Serial ATA AHCI controller hub (ICH8M)+
    ...but not my installed XP-OS
How can I delete or disable the yellow entry?

    Hi
For SM Bus Controller you need the chipset utility as Al-eX already wrote. You can download it on the Toshiba website.
If you mean the PCI memory Controller, you will not find a XP driver for it. Thats the Intel Turbo Memory and this feature is only supported by Vista or later.

So just ignore this in device manager ;)

  • Issue Restoring Windows 7 (factory settings)

My laptop Harddrive failed and I replaced it with a new one purchased from HP.  I also ordered the Windows 7 re-installations CDs.
I have removed/replaced the Harddrive but get the following error message while trying to install Windows 7 onto the new harddrive:  "Windows could not complete installation.  To install Windows on this computer, restart installation."
I've tried restarting the installation twice with the same results.  Ending with this error message.
How do I get past this and complete the Windows installation?

I figured this out.  I initiated the installation again and this time, instead of restarting at the end of the 2 disk, I selected the "Restart Later" option.  The laptop proceeded to unzip additional software for a while, and at the end allowed me to initiate Windows for first use.  Then I Restarted and Windows started up correctly.

  • Satellite A200-27Z - How to unblock KeNotify on Windows Vista?

    Hi everyone,
Well, that subject pretty much says it all. I'm doing a cleanup - on my Satellite A200-27Z - and I my Windows Vista keeps blocking KeNotify.exe on startup.
Answers on Google etc. are contradictory - "it's safe!" - "no, don't touch it!" - So, what is the answer with this one? Keep blocking it? I think so; as it as reads keystrokes; which seems a bit unfair as it never told me it was doing it (
    What do you all think?
    Thanks,
    B

    Hi
The KeNotify shouldnt be blocked because it belongs to Toshiba Flash Cards that you need for FN keys so please unblock this application.
If the Windows firewall is blocking, you can unblock it in settings:
Control panel > Windows Firewall > Change settings >
I hope I could help you a little bit.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You have an Early 2008 Mac Pro. You have the specs that your Mac Pro needs for more memory > https://support.apple.com/kb/HT4433#4 As you can read, that computer should have come with 2 GB of memory.
You can buy memory at OWC or Crucial > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Mac-Pro-Memory#800-memory Those sell compatible memory with all Macs. You can use another memory, but you can be sure that the memory that these brands sell are compatible

  • How do i reset/restore computer to factory settings???

how do i reset/restore computer to factory settings???

Follow these instructions step by step to prepare a Mac for sale:
Step One - Back up your data:
           A. If you have any Virtual PCs shut them down. They cannot be in their "fast saved" state. They must be shut down from inside Windows.
           B. Clone to an external drive using using Carbon Copy Cloner.
              1. Open Carbon Copy Cloner.
              2. Select the Source volume from the Select a source drop down menu on the left side.
              3. Select the Destination volume from the Select a destination drop down menu on the right
                  side.
              4. Click on the Clone button. If you are prompted about creating a clone of the Recovery HD be
                  sure to opt for that.
Destination means a freshly erased external backup drive. Source means the internal
                   startup drive.
Step Two - Prepare the machine for the new buyer:
              1. De-authorize the computer in iTunes! De-authorize both iTunes and Audible accounts.
2, Remove any Open Firmware passwords or Firmware passwords.
              3. Turn the brightness full up and volume nearly so.
              4. Turn off File Vault, if enabled.
              5. Disable iCloud, if enabled: See.What to do with iCloud before selling your computer
Step Three - Install a fresh OS:
         A. Snow Leopard and earlier versions of OS X
              1. Insert the original OS X install CD/DVD that came with your computer.
              2. Restart the computer while holding down the C key to boot from the CD/DVD.
              3. Select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu; repartition and reformat the internal hard drive.
Optionally, click on the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
              4. Install OS X.
              5. Upon completion DO NOT restart the computer.
              6. Shutdown the computer.
         B. Lion and Mountain Lion (if pre-installed on the computer at purchase*)
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because
it is three times faster than wireless.
              1. Restart the computer while holding down the COMMAND and R keys until the Mac OS X
                  Utilities window appears.
              2. Select Disk Utility from the Mac OS X Utilities window and click on the Continue button.
              3. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click
on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
              4. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on the Security button
and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
              5. Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
              6. Quit DU and return to the Mac OS X Utilities window.
              7. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
              8. Upon completion shutdown the computer.
*If your computer came with Lion or Mountain Lion pre-installed then you are entitled to transfer your license once. If you purchased Lion or Mountain Lion from the App Store then you cannot transfer your license to another party. In the case of the latter you should install the original version of OS X that came with your computer. You need to repartition the hard drive as well as reformat it; this will assure that the Recovery HD partition is removed. See Step Three above. You may verify these requirements by reviewing your OS X Software License.

Windows can not identify that an iOS device is in recovery mode. Only iTunes can identify that.
What is the EXACT error message you're getting?

  • How can I turn off the laptop after restoring it to factory settings?

    Hello everyone
I am selling my Portege R830-10Q so I want to restore it to factory settings (out-of-box state) AND THEN TURN IT OFF.
I have successfully brought the laptop to factory settings by using the _TOSHIBA Recovery Wizard_ and choosing *Recovery of Factory Default Software (Recover to out-of-box state)*. However, at the end of the recovery process and after everything is re-installed I was not able to TURN OFF the laptop. I was only given the option of restarting it. After restating it, the Windows set-up process starts.
I don't want to set-up Windows, i.e. language, keyboard, user account, etc. I want to leave the Windows set-up for the person who buys the laptop from me. How can I switch off the laptop after the system recovery without having to set up Windows?
    I'd really appreciate your help.
    Regards
    Pedro

When recovery procedure is finished and you are asked for restart just press power button and switch it off. I think it only thing you can do.
Anyway, why not to start Windows and go through setup option. New owner can change this basic settings anyway. As username put Admin and language and keyboard can be set as default.
For instance, if you have German recovery image set everything to German. New owner can change it anyway.

  • I just got my dads old iPhone 4. I restored it to factory settings and set it up with my apple id. The albums in my music are fine in iTunes but on my phone the albums are split and each song is its own album. Does anybody know how to fix this?

My dad has recently gotten a new phone and I got his old one. With his permission I restored it to factory settings and set up the iPhone 4 as a new phone with my apple id. Everything has downloaded fine but I have had many problems with my music. First it was where my phone didnt recognise my apple id, but I  figured that out. Then it was where iTunes took one of my albums and split it so all the songs where their own albums. I fixed the album split on iTunes but its still like that on my iPhone. I have looked online everywhere and I still haven't found a solution! I'm getting super frustrated! Does anybody know how to fix this?

No it's not stealing. They have an allowance that you can share with so many computers/devices. You'll have to authorize her computer to play/use anything bought on your acct. You can do this under the Store menu at top when iTunes is open on her computer.
As far as getting it all on her computer....I think but I am not sure (because I don't use the feature) but I think if you turn on Home Sharing in iTunes it may copy the music to her computer. I don't know maybe it just streams it. If nothing else you can sign into your acct on her computer and download it all to her computer from the cloud. Not sure exactly how to go about that, I haven't had to do that yet. I wonder if once you authorize her computer and then set it up for automatic downloads (under Edit>Preferences>Store) if everything would download. Sorry I'm not much help on that.

  • If I upgraded my MacBook Pro from Snow Leopard to Lion via the web and now wish to erase the hard drive and restore it to factory settings to sell.  How do I accomplish this?

I upgraded the operating system on my MacBook Pro from Snow Leopard to Lion via the web.  Now I need to erase the hard drive and restore it to factory settings, so that I can pass it on.  How do I accomplish this?  When I insert the Mac OS X install disk, the only option is to erase the free space.  Any insight would be appreciated.
    Thank you

You need to boot off the original Snow Leopard DVD's that came with the system.
Once you are running off of the DVD you will be able to do a clean install of SL
To boot off the DVD with the system up running Lion insert the DVD. Open Sytem Preferences->Startup Disk and select the DVD then restart the machine.
