Satellite A200 and Windows 7 64bit - How someone test it?

Has anyone test and works with it.
I have *A200 23W* with 4 gb memory, vista sp2 installed and i want to have a clear install on *windows 7 but 64bit version*.
What do you think about?

Loaded windows 7 on an A200 psace with 2gb of memory, most things are OK. video drivers initially was generic vga but after windows update the correct geoforce go driver was loaded. The flash media was not working as windows couldn't find a driver, downloaded vista driver from toshiba website which corrected problem. I have the professional version of windows 7 so I tried the xp compatibilty mode, this doesn't work, it says that the virtualization option in bios isn't enabled even though it is enabled in bios. It's ealy days yet but everything is looking fairly good, I had the beta version running for 2 or 3 months without too many problems

  • Satellite A200 and iTunes 2131 error

Hello, new to the forums here.
I did a search and couldn't find anything current on the 2131 error I'm getting from Itunes with regards to burning CD-Rs. I understand the Dell computers using the same optical drive have a patch, just wondering if one is available for my Satellite A200-03V?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, I am wondering if someone can help me with the problem above but with a twist in that the laptop I have is a PCNextDay with a TSSTcorp CDDVDW SN-S082H inside.
I am getting the same 2131 error in itunes as the first poster and wonder if there is a firmware update available for the S-082H - i saw somewhere else there was an update for the L632H and hoping for similar. The link in the reply above mine allows you to enter in your laptop details for a Toshiba machine but I cannot find any actual details on the device itself.
Sorry if I am missing something but I would greatly appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction as currently the only option I have is to use expensive CRRW (particularly expensive in Norway!) rather than CDRs for burning music cds which then dont play in my car anyhow.
In my searches for something on this I have also seen that Samsung have a CDDVD writer with the same product code (at least the SN-S082H) so wonder if this is a shared development (probably) and if that means I can use their firmware (maybe risky?).
    Grateful for any help. Thanks!

  • Satellite A200-TH7 - Windows Explorer is not responding

On random occasions (normally when I wake up the PC), and I click the volume control in the taskbar, nothing will pop up.
Then I'll go to move the physical volume control slider and nothing will happen.
However, at that point, I'll try to click anywhere on the taskbar, but it freezes and it says "Windows Explorer is not responding" and I have to restart the program. Once doing this, the volume control does not even appear on the taskbar. And if I slide the physical volume slider, Explorer freezes once more.
I have Vista and its an Satellite A200-TH7.
I have the volume on mute so I literally can't listen to anything now.
If I restart the comp it'll work, but this problem occurs frequently.

    Hi
Thats strange and I never heard about such an issue.
Does the Explorer freezes in other ways too?
Anyway, you should make sure that you have installed all Windows Updates and Service Packs.
Furthermore update the AntiVirus software and search for Viruses.
And follow the instructions posted by Jimi.
Thats all I can say at the moment.

  • ThinkVantage Tech and Window 7 - how to interpret

Could someone explain me how to understang following :
On lenonvo web site, some drive explicitely mention Window 7 and 64-bit (for example NVIDIA Display Driver (NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M / Quadro FX 570M) driver for Windows 7 (64-bit) - ThinkPad R61, R61i, T61, T61p) in other case it mentions Windows 7 but no mention if x86 or x64 (for example ThinkVantage System Update 4.0 - System Update 4.0 only supports Microsoft Windows 7)
How to interpret the latter : does it means it runs on 32bits more even in Windows 7 64-bits, or it it only designed for 32bits OS ?
    Many thanks

  • TX1410US and Windows 7 - How To Install Drivers?

How do I install the drivers for the following components of a Pavilion TX1410US notebook under Windows 7:
     - Wi-fi connection hardware
     - The buttons on the screen (incl. the media keys there - because those aren't responding)

    Hi,
Use Vista drivers for your specific model. Most of them will work. You may find them here.
First thing which you should install is chipset driver:
    NVIDIA nForce Chipset/Network Drivers here
    Important note!
You will need to reboot your system after installing chipset driver.
It's recommended to install all Windows Updates.
Why? AMD machines with nVidia graphic cards are very quickly overheated after installing Windows 7. This simple solution will fix this problem. You will need to install as quick as possible graphic driver. Which is available through Windows Update too.
    Resource:
    Install Windows updates
    How to find graphic driver?
1.Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button , clicking ' All Programs ', and then clicking ' Windows Update '.
2.In the left pane, click ' Check for updates ' , and then wait while Windows looks for the latest updates for your computer.
3.Select the ' Optional Updates ' and install from there only driver for Your graphic card.
Some more up to date drivers / software for Windows 7:
HP QuickPlay here (ver 3.7 v.6112 for 32/64 bit Win7)
    Notes:
It must be installed before HP Quick Launch Buttons.
You've installed this software and it hangs while using?
Uninstall your current HP QUICK PLAY version and install this which you had in Vista.
                Resource:
                Uninstalling Software in Windows 7
Uninstall or change a program in Windows 7
If you burned CD/DVD with C:\swsetup folder before upgrade to Windows 7 then you will find Vista version there.
HP Quick Launch Buttons here (ver 6.50.17.1 for 32/64 bit Win7)
HP Wireless Assistant here (ver 3.50.12.1 for 32/64 bit Win7)
    Ps.
If you will have still problems with finding any driver then let me know about it.

  • Satellite Pro A200 and Windows XP 64bit possible?

I'm the owner of that notebook & i'm wondering if it's compatible with Windows XP 64 bit.
I work with 3dsmax which don't work on Vista (32 or 64 bit).
Is there any problems with drivers & where I can find drivers for 64 bit Windows XP?
    Cheers

Toshiba does not offer 64bit drivers for Windows XP.
So you must search on external websites for drivers but I could be that you dont get all drivers. To be honest if you dont use 4GB RAM or more in this laptop Windows XP is the best choice.
Here are some examples where you can search for drivers:

  • Re-building Satellite Pro A200 with Windows XP - How to

    Hi,
I am seeking some assistance with regards to some A200 that i have just recieved.
They have come with Vista Home premium, but i attempting to re-build them using windows XP discs.
Once booting the machines from the disc and requesting to install windows XP, I get the following message:
Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer.
Make sure any hard disc drives are powered on and properly connected
to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is
correct. This may involve running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic
    or setup program.
Setup cannot continue. To quit setup, press F3
I have tried going into the BIOS to find the setting which alloys you to boot using simple hard drive settings but this option does not seem to be present, can any body help as this is quite an urgent issue.
    Kind regards,
    Kevin Bennett

    Hi
It seems you need the SATA driver!!!
On the Toshiba page you should find the Intel Storage Manger. This is a SATA driver and it should be included during the XP setup procedure by pressing the F6 button.
Then you could include it from the external FDD drive
If you dont have a FDD drive then you could use the free software called nLite
By the way; why you don't use the search option in this forum for searching similar threads...

  • Satellite A60 and Windows XP Recovery

    Hello all.
I have recently bought a second hand Satellite Notebook from a friend (slightly older Notebook- from 2004.) When booting into a virtual environment and running anti virus applications (for the memory) and diagnostic tools (Everest and Memtest etc), all hardware appears to be functional and in good order. The HDD was dead when originally bought, so I have replaced that with a new one (first replacement was faulty, but was written to initially in tests, while the second is still RAW and unused). When attempting to do an OS recovery/reinstall off the original OEM product CD (T#R-02163001 PMR400170EN1 2/2) nothing happens to begin the process (no BootCD in drive- this despite the boot order being set correctly.) The single file on the CD is a 02163001.GHS file (615,722KB) inside a TOSHIBA folder. This I would guess to be the second or more of spanned Ghost files. However the first part, which, I imagine, should be a .GHO file, for automatically starting the bootup/recovery process, is absent. Assuming the CD-ROM (definately not the optical drive) to be defective, I have attempted to purchase a replacement over the net and by phoning the local suppliers. This CD is apparently no longer available, anywhere!
Is the CD-ROM defective, based on the single file, its size and the possible missing .GHO file ?
Is it possible to still make use of the image of the .GHS file on the original product recovery CD and incorporate it to recover the machine with a new CD with an .iso file, which I could create. If so, how would I go about that?
Norton Ghost 10 cannot recognise this file type, for recovery. I have Norton Ghost 2003 too, but it is not meant to be used on an XP based machine platform. The Symantec Ghost Solution Suite 2.5 might do the job, but is $39 and I think a bit of a risky purchase. Using pirated software is not a viable option either.
Purchasing at some cost, a non-OEM, generic Windows XP PRO is probably a solution, but I would preferably like to use my original OEM CD.
If anyone knows any useful information or could provide a workaround, it would be appreciated.

    Hi
You might find that you are missing the first of two recovery CD's . You will probably battle to get a replacement Product Recovery CD, as the laptop is about four years old. You could try your local ASP's or alternatively install an original generic (non OEM) Windows XP Home/ Pro CD.
Maybe other users could confirm this???
    Cheers

  • PCG and Windows error - how I fixed

I'll make this post in the hope it might help others.
I was a sufferer of, and an early contributor to, one of the long running PCG error threads.
After several years of successful Premier/Encore authoring with a successful workflow I suffered the dreaded PCG error not long after upgrading to Encore CS3. After a lot of trial and error and help from these forums I finally solved the issue by getting brand new hardware and installing Adobe Premier/AE/Encore/Audition and nothing else on the box. Same workflow and assets, no problems. This rather suggested to me it's not Encore itself that's the problem, nor necessarily the workflow or the assets, but more that some complex interaction within Windows somewhere was responsible. In my case I had a project with 5 timelines, each on a menu, and each timeline had it's PCG solved (before I switched hardware) by a different combination of the 'fixes' suggested here.
On the new hardware same assets/project/workflow - no issues.
At the weekend I was happily knocking out a quick slideshow of a wedding I shot recently when Encore failed at the Create Disc stage with a 'Encore has encountered an error and neads to close' message. Not only did my current project fail, but one that was working a few weeks ago failed also. This strongly suggested it wasn't an asset/workflow issue.
On investigating further I realised that I'd broken my own rules about being rigerous and not installing anything other than Adobe on my PC. As part of sorting out my monitor profiling (specifically the ability to profile each monitor in a dual setup independantly) I'd downloaded and installed a Microsoft 'Colour' feature. It installed itself but also the .NET framework as well as +C++ runtime environment.
I uninstalled all three items and Encore sprang back into life building and burning both the older project as well as my new one.
All of this confirms to me that the problem that Encore presents with is caused by a pretty fundamental interaction somewhere in the bowels of Windows and that whilst the actions of fiddling with settings or assets or any of the other 'fixes' that work for some people some of the time are not really addressing the fundamental problem.
My advice would be to install Adobe video products on a fresh install of Windows and run them and nothing else. Observe 'profession IT' standards of configuration management and things should be OK.
It's not how we maybe envisage running a PC but the hard practicalities of our complex friend make it so.
    Hope this helps someone else.
    Regards
    Pete

    Wow.
It's probably deeper than that. I have both the .NET framework and the latest C++ runtime installation from Microsoft, and I cannot reproduce this error even if I handle my assets badly.
Rodger Ling may be correct. This may be some deep hardware/software conflict that only appears on certain hardware configurations when certain other software is involved.
Unfortunately, that would make it nearly impossible to track down the bug and squash it without some serious user input on *complete* hardware and software configurations.
Thanks for posting your fix; likely it will help someone else who runs into this issue.

  • Satellite A200-23W: Windows Vista installation issue

    Hi..
I now that this subject is discussed many times before, but after trying a lot of the solutions of the forum and some of my one, I have reached a level that it makes no sense...
First off all I would like to explain that what i do for a living it has to do with IT and that is what it makes it even more tempting to me.
2 days ago a bought a A200-23W Toshiba. The first thing i always do when i buy a new laptop is to format it and install a clean Windows OS.
I realized after my first attempt that I have to install first of all the Matrix Storage Driver.
I have downloaded the driver from toshiba site related to my model. (Intel Matrix Storage Manager-7.5.0.1017).
I have created a usb with the required files for the driver :
    iaAhci.inf,
    iaAhci.cat,
    iaStor.inf, iaStor.cat,
    iaStor.sys, and
    TxtSetup.oem
from the (F6flpy) folder of the (Intel Matrix Storage Manager) copying them to the root of the USB.
When the "Where you want to Install windows" form at windows vista appear i select load driver, and then by Clicking (Browse), I select the USB as a source for my drivers.
The (Intel(R) 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller) automatically appears as a selection and by clicking (Next) the process of driver installation starts.
    So far so good..
Now is where the things are getting complicated..
When Vista return to the "Where you want to Install windows" form, even that my system has 2 x 200 GG HDD only one 200 GB HDD appears in the list..
Selections of "New" Partition or "Delete" Partition are disabled.
and even when i click "Next" to the selected HD a windows message appears :
"Windows could not determine if this computer contains a valid system volume"
    I would appreciate your help..
    Thank you in advance..
    George P.

it seems i can't find any installation details about the Robson Package inside the zip file or the European site..
All the readme inside have the same content..
"...This installer does not contain a valid readme
file. Please obtain the valid readme file(s) from the
software site this installer was downloaded from."
And at the europian site the downloaded page :
".....For details please check the included help file"
