Satellite A200: Bluethooth Stack & Flashcard does not respond

My new A200 gives me a headache. After receiving the following message: Thank you for evaluating the Bluetooth Stack for Windowsby Toshiba. The evaluation period has expired. Please obtain a license for this version of Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba" I downloaded the Bluetooth stack Multilingual from Toshiba's homepage. It does not work, I receive still the same message and cannot use bluetooth anymore.
The second message I receive always is "that the Toshiba Flashcard does not respond" then Vista is looking for a solution but does not find anything.
The third problem is to include a second monitor. One time only it worked fine, but never again. I cannot control the second monitor via the Notebook, sometimes I cannot extend it, sometimes I can but the second monitor works in slow motion. I use a Targus docking station.
thanks
Heidi

Hi
This message is meant for developers of third-party Bluetooth adapters, but may appear if you are using such an adapter with the Toshiba Bluetooth software 'stack' -- rather than with the adapter manufacturer's stack. The third-party Bluetooth adapter may work with the Toshiba Bluetooth stack, but only for a 30 day evaluation period.
If you are using an 3rd party Bluetooth adapter, obtain and install the correct Bluetooth stack from the manufacturer of the Bluetooth adapter.
If your notebook was already equipped with the BT card then you dont need to obtain the BT stack version from any other 3rd party manufacturers.
You should be able to download it from the Toshiba page, from your Satellite A200 download area.
I have also received some issues with the Vista Flash cards.
Seems there was a bug in old version. But dont worry; the new version was already released on the Toshiba page!
However, it looks like you have messed the whole OS because the switching to external monitor does not work too. So maybe you should recover the notebook with the Toshiba recovery CD and then update the Vista FlashCard utility.
Good luck

  • Satellite U305-S7432 freezes and does not respond sometimes using Win XP

    Hello.
    I have a Satellite U305-S7432 notebook.
Originally it came with Vista but I reformatted with XP Pro. I have installed all updates up to service pack 3.
My problem is that sometimes when I try to restart the computer it simply freezes and does not respond at all to any input. I notice that this happens if I close and later open the lid (meaning that the computer goes input standby mode and comes back).
Please note that the standby mode works perfectly fine and the computer leaves standby fine but afterwards when I try to restart, the computer will simply hang instead of restarting.
If it never enters standby mode, the restart takes place as expected.
I have installed all drivers and there are no question marks in Device Manager. I updated to the latest chipset driver from Intel (for the mobile 965) as well. Lastly, I also tried adding /forceresetreg to my boot.ini (as suggested by: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822624) but to no avail.
    Any ideas?

This is a Toshiba US notebook series and you should check the Toshiba US driver page for available drivers:
    http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_home.jsp
If you will not find the XP drivers at this page then you could try to install some single drivers for Sat U300 from the Toshiba European page but Im not quite sure if such XP drivers will run on you Sat U305. But its worth a try!
    Good luck

  • Toshiba flashcards does not respond on Satellite A200

    Hi.
When I turn on my laptop (Satellite A200) often, but not absolutely everytime, I get a bar across the top of the screen which reads 'Toshiba Flashcards (not responding'.
Sometimes this can be removed by clicking the red cross in the corner of the bar and after a few moments it does disappear, but other times it stays there and there appears to be no way of getting rid of it.
Can anyone help me with this problem?
You can probably tell from this that I am not a computer expert and simple language would be most appreciated!!

    Try this:
Update the BIOS, which can be downloaded from the Toshiba website
Uninstall the Toshiba Value Added Package
Download and install the latest Toshiba Value Added Package from the Toshiba website

  • Satellite A200-TH7 - Windows Explorer is not responding

On random occasions (normally when I wake up the PC), and I click the volume control in the taskbar, nothing will pop up.
Then I'll go to move the physical volume control slider and nothing will happen.
However, at that point, I'll try to click anywhere on the taskbar, but it freezes and it says "Windows Explorer is not responding" and I have to restart the program. Once doing this, the volume control does not even appear on the taskbar. And if I slide the physical volume slider, Explorer freezes once more.
I have Vista and its an Satellite A200-TH7.
I have the volume on mute so I literally can't listen to anything now.
If I restart the comp it'll work, but this problem occurs frequently.

    Hi
Thats strange and I never heard about such an issue.
Does the Explorer freezes in other ways too?
Anyway, you should make sure that you have installed all Windows Updates and Service Packs.
Furthermore update the AntiVirus software and search for Viruses.
And follow the instructions posted by Jimi.
Thats all I can say at the moment.

  • Satellite A65 freezes and does not respond after adding of RAM

    Gents,
My laptop Satellite A-65 has been upgrade from 512 MB RAM to 1024 RAM. It recognized additional memory without any problem (as it should be according to manual).
But unfortunately after 1 day it begun suddenly stops, pictures on screen freezes, laptop does not respond at all - only reset (pushing and holding power button) can help. some times laptop is able to work 2 or 3 hours, but then again stops.
Memory place cover is rather hot, fan very often work uninterruptibly. so i can't decide whether problem is in new memory card or not enough cooling or might be in changing of BIOS version (or BIOS setttings) and might be memory becomes full and does not clear itself properly (last remark was found on some forumes).
Experts, help to find exact reason especcially if u had similar problem.

    Hi
Im not expert but I would recommend removing the new memory module and let run the notebook only with the standard memory module.
If the notebook will not hang and will not freeze then its a very clear case for me.
Either the second module is not compatible or faulty.
In my opinion you should use branded modules like Kingston for example. The quality is much better as a no-name module.
Additional use the modules recommend by Toshiba

  • Satellite A300-129 - Sound is muted and icon does not respond

    Dear all,
I am trying to switch on the sound of my Satellite A300-129 after I had muted it a couple of days ago, but the icon does not respond.
When I click on the right mouse button, I can go to sounds etc., but "Open volume mixer" does not respond either. I have also tried to restart the laptop a couple of times, but that did not help.
What can I do? Your help will be much appreciated.
    Heleen

    >How do I do that safely without risking losing sound forever?
LOL You will not lose anything for ever. :D in worst case you will have to reinstall the OS using the Toshiba recovery disk.
Access the device manager -> mark the sound card -> use delete button -> reboot the notebook
After new reboot the sound driver should reinstall again and should detect the sound card.

  • Satellite P50-A-11J does not respond to power button

Computer when to sleep 24 hours ago.
When I picked it out of the bag now, both DC IN/Battery and Power LED is lit (continuous, not flashing), but computer does not respond to power button or any other key combination I can think of.
If the computer had a removable battery, I would have tried to pull it out - but how do you do that on a P50?
You don't, according to my manual.
Is there another "secret" hardware reset button somewhere?

I don't know if this is common to all models but there is a picture of the reset button here [Picture: Forced shut down hole|http://forums.toshiba.com/tshb/attachments/tshb/brd_batt_pwr/10560/1/S50%20forced%20shut%20down.png]

  • Satellite A200-23P - DVD-rom mechanic not working

I am sorry for my English in advance this topic! - Thanks
I have very big problem with my DVD writer (rom).
I bought SAT A200-23P three weeks ago.
The OS Win VISTA was installed. DVD-rom worked good.
If I installed Win XP to second partition on my HDD (before I make install disc with driver for sata disc in nlite) and installed all drivers and utilities for Toshiba notebook, I found that my DVD-rom does not respond while I press eject button.
DVD mechanic does not respond for eject in the XP and not even in BIOS!
Interesting is, DVD mechanic is detecting in BIOS, is detecting in XP, operating system XP votes - DVD mechanic working correctly - its fable.
However, if I installed XP on second partition, Win Vista does not load :(
I don't have a second chance for second selection (Vista and XP).
I have now XP only, even if Vista is on first partition - I didnt delete it.
Do you think the DVD-rom is HW or SW problem?
I think, seeing that DVD-rom not respond in BIOS - HW error.
But is very strange, if I install XP from DVD mechanic and close then is done, DVD-rom not working ... : (
If I open it manually and insert the disc, DVD not working (led diode not blink, just if I turn computer off, led blinked once).
    PLS help me somebody -
    THANKS!

    Hi Michal
Your issue is very strange I mean the CD/DVD drive issue
Fact is that the CD/DVD drives eject function should functions no matter what OS was installed on your notebook. It has nothing to do with your software on the HDD.
So I wonder why the eject button works with Vista and not with preinstalled XP OS ?:|
My only plausible explanation is that sometimes there is a loose connection between the notebook and the drive. At the other hand the issue could be related to the hardware problem too
As you see its not easy to say whats wrong exactly we can only speculate.
Now some details about your dual OS installation.
You cannot choose between the Windows XP and Vista because the Vista boot manager was overwritten during the Win XP installation.
This happened to me too. I have installed Win XP on my Satellite and was not able to start Vista.
The solution was easy; I have used another original Vista DVD (from my friend) and booted from this DVD. The Vista has renewed the boot manager and then I was able to boot the Vista.
Then I have downloaded the tool called Easy BCD.
This tool can change the settings the Vista boot manager. I have edited it and inserted a new Windwos XP OS entry.
    Thats it!

  • Button does not respond (with attachment)

    Hi,
I'm trying to develop a LV program for a psychology experiment to record a participants mouse movements whilst drawing or tracing a picture using the mouse.
My program uses an event structure to generate an event each time the mouse is moved or the mouse button is pressed or released. Upon each of these events the coordinates and button position is recorded to an array.
When they have finished drawing there is a button "Stop & Save" that allows the user to save the coordinate data to a file. This can then be opened by a sister program I'm developing that allows the movements to be replayed and shows where the mouse button was down and up.
At the start of the program there is the option of loading a background jpeg picture to trace over on the screen.
The program then waits for a 'Record' button to be pressed before moving on to record all coordinates there after until the 'Stop & Save' button is pressed.
The problem I have is that the record button does not respond. It doesn't even change state when pressed, even though at that stage it's just sat in a while loop waiting for it to be pressed before moving on to the event structure.
I attach the program for you to look at.
    Any help/hints much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Dave.

Your overall program design is higly flawed. This calls for a single state machine with an event structure that handles all FP events. All your locals can be handled by shift regsters. Get rid of that useless stacked sequence!
Frame 0: Initialization belongs to the left of the state machine. CoordinatesArray should initialize a shift register (no locals needed). Use a boolean shift register to set state to either recording or not. Event for "record, value changed" will switch the boolean to be used on the other states.
Frame 1: "Clear" and "stop" need to be inside their own events. Running it parallel to the event structure is a no-no! Do you really want to record mouse movements on the entire FP or only on the picture area?
Frame 2: Why waste an entire frame on this? Here you clear it and in the next frame you prepend the cleared string to your data. Makes no sense.
Frame 3: An autoindexing FOR loop would be the right choice. A single formating operation can handle multiple values.
Frame 4: Writing the "coordinate string" seems useless, since you just cleared it two frame earlier. You are writing an empty string to a file! Right? Why invert the "canceled?" output, just swap the cases instead.
Frame 5: Unecessary! Once the VI runs out of code, the VI will stop automatically. The "stop" function also does not "close the program window" as you seem to indicate with a diagram comment. Check the online help.

    Hi, thanks for your reply.
The reason for the main stacked sequence was to get some order to the program, my programming background's text based and as such I like to think of a program running in a list/sequence order. LabView seems strange when you've been used to programming in asm or C. Does anyone know of any books or online documentation for people migrating from text languages to LV? - I haven't found any.
"Frame 2: Why waste an entire frame on this? Here you clear it and in the next frame you prepend the cleared string to your data. Makes sense."
    - The string 'CoordsArray' is cleared to make sure it's empty before chars concatanated to it in the next frame. Call me old fashioned but is it not good practice to clear out any junk in a variable rather than just assuming it's empty?
"Frame 3: An autoindexing FOR loop would be the right choice. A single formating operation can handle multiple values." - not sure what you mean by that?
"Frame 4: Writing the "coordinate string" seems useless, since you just cleared it two frame earlier. You are writing an empty string to a file! Right? Why invert the "canceled?" output, just swap the cases instead."
    - No, it's not an empty string since in the previous frame the coordinates array is converted to numbers and concatanated to it. Trust me, it generates a file with lots of data in so no way is it an empty string!!
    - Yes, you could just swap the cases instead of inverting the 'canceled' output but sometimes it reads better to say 'if NOT cancelled then DO theTask, ELSE DO nothing' rather than 'if cancelled DO nothing ELSE DO theTask'. Not sure if that makes sense but I guess it's just personal prefference there.
"Frame 5: Unecessary! Once the VI runs out of code, the VI will stop automatically. The "stop" function also does not "close the program window" as you seem to indicate with a diagram comment. Check the online help."
    - I wasn't sure how that one would work. I wanted the final exe version to close the program window when the program comes to the end, what's the best way to do that? In the past I think I used the 'Exit' function but this would annoyingly quit LabView at the end of each trial run whilst still in the development stage.
    Thanks,
    Dave.

  • I just updated itunes to 11.1.3 on my laptop and now it won't open. It does not respond to trying "safe mode" either.

I just updated itunes to 11.1.3 on my laptop and now it won't open. It does not respond to trying "safe mode" either. Anyone have an idea as to what to do?

I just uninstalled it and am waiting for it to reinstall. I sincerely hope that I have not lost everything that I worked on so hard. Now that mobile me is gone, I have not been able to go between devices to transfer things. I was merely trying to take a document I had worked on and open it in pages, but it said my version was too old. When I updated, it wouldn't load. Now I cannot do anything. I hope that the reinstall fixes it without losing everything. Please advise!!! Yes, I am in panic mode.

  • IPod does not respond at all when plugged in

Alright, this topic is for people who have had this exact problem only. I don't want to get this confused with other problems and have people trying to help troubleshoot multiple problems and get things mixed up. Here's the problem.
After updating to v1.1.2 of the iPod software, the iPod does not respond when plugged in. The iPod still works fine when not plugged in. It plays music and both the standard and shuffle play modes work accordingly. The problem is when you plug the iPod in, it doesn't charge and it doesn't mount. The orange blinking light does not come on. While plugged in, it works the same way as it does when you're listening to music with it. It's as if the iPod's USB connector is dead. Here is my original post and description of the problem.
Alright, so here's my story. I bought my 512MB Shuffle in April. It has worked perfectly fine since I got it. Last night, I updated to v1.1.2 of the iPod software, clicked no when it asked if I wanted to restart, added some songs to the iPod, then restarted. As of this morning, I went to listen to some music while out for a bike ride, and I was greeted with the red battery light. I thought it was a bit odd since I had left it plugged in overnight. I figured, what the heck, I'll just plug it in and let it charge when I get back. When I got back, I plugged it into my PC and left for a while. I came back later and went to grab my Shuffle and I noticed it was cold, which was unusual after charging for a couple hours. I plugged it back in, a bit frustrated, and it never came up in Windows. I looked at the iPod plugged into the back of my PC (a high powered USB port) and sure enough, no orange light. No lights at all. I can still slide the switch to one of the play modes (standard play or shuffle) and play music for a couple seconds before it stops and says the battery's dead again. It works.. I mean it turns on and plays music, it's just not charging or mounting when I plug it in. I tried multiple computers and USB ports, none of which worked. I would really like some help with this considering it IS my only source of portable music and I'm not going to go pay $50 to talk to tech support or have it sent in for repairs. That's half of what it's worth.
I've tried uninstalling all iTunes/iPod related software from the PC I normally use it on and reinstalling it. That didn't work. I also tried uninstalling again and installing the last known working version of the iPod software, still no results. The only thing I havn't tried is giving it a good beating... Not that I would. Anyways, I hope there's a solution to this that doesn't involve buying a new one.
Here's a rundown of the computers I tested it with.
    500MHZ G4 Cube (384MB RAM/Mac OSX Tiger)
    400MHZ G3 iMac (384MB RAM/Mac OSX Tiger)
4.2GHZ AMD 64-Bit running Windows XP Service Pack 2 (my PC)
    515MHZ Dell running Windows 2000 (256MB RAM)
UPDATE: The BIOS won't recognize the iPod, so it has nothing to do with my computer. Somehow, installing v1.1.2 of the iPod software made it so the iPod itself has USB problems. The iPod works to the extent of playing music and showing the battery charge level. I get no response at all when I plug it in, from the computer or the iPod.
I'm going to have to agree with Philip Harhay on this one. The original 10GB iPod I bought 3 years ago came with a full one-year warranty, no extra charges. I am disappointed to see the Shuffle only coming with a three-month warranty.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------

Help! I just purchase an iPod Shuffle for my son's birthday and I cannot get the darn thing to show up on my iMac G5. I am running OS 10.4.2 and I have downloaded the latest iPod and iTunes software. When I try to restore my iPod to the factory settings it tells me to plug the iPod into the computer, but it is plugged in. I have tried different USB ports, too. I'm running out of ideas and so is the trouble shooting Apple site. I was hoping someone out there might have some ideas.
It showed up at first and I transferred a few songs from the iTunes to the iPod but I couldn't get them to play, so I plugged it back into the USB and the icon never came up.

  • ITunes does not respond when I try to play a movie

I just installed the latest iTunes update onto my Windows 64-bit computer and now, whenever I try to watch a movie on iTunes it freezes and does not respond. I have to start the task manager and end the program manually. I have unistalled iTunes and reinstalled it but I still face the problem of iTunes freezing and not responding. I have a pretty good collection of movies and would love to watch them cause well I paid for them but i cant because it keeps FREEZING. Also, it wont let me view trailers on the iTunes store so I'm thinking something is wrong with the 'video' part of my iTunes. Please help.

Although it's not such a good bet with a freeze as with the "iTunes has stopped working" messages, it would do no harm to try the following user tip:

  • Firefox takes 6 minutes to load and then does not respond so what should I do?

After starting Firefox on my Mac (10.8) it takes 5 to 6 minutes to appear. A minute or so later the "Bookmarks and History system will not be functional because one of the files is being used by another application" message appears and Firefox either does not respond or responds very slowly to various mouse clicks and such. For example, I wanted to disable all plug ins and when I clicked on Tools and Addins it took three minutes for the tab to open and after 20 minutes still nothing had appeared on the tab. I've tried restarting Firefox, restarting the Mac, resetting Firefox to the default settings, starting Firefox in safe mode, renaming the places.sqlite file, uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling from a fresh download, performing a complete uninstall and reinstall in which I remove the Firefox folder from the Application Support folder after uninstalling, and relocating the plugins folder. I've tried just about everything in every Firefox support article that there is and nothing works. Any suggestions would be very helpful.Thanks.
