Satellite A200 - Cannot downgrade the BIOS to v2.40

Please Help me.
I bought a brand new toshiba Satellite A200 series laptop with vista home premimum in it.
For some reasons I'm not a big vista fan.
So i downgraded my OS to XP and as i was searching for drivers and all for XP i saw a Bios update for my laptop it was 5.20 which was for XP. While for Vista its 2.40 as per mentioned on website.
Now from here my problems started.
I downloaded that v5.20 bios and updated it.
Soon problems started like laptop gets overheated, it freezes, and sometimes refuse to give performance.
As i was unable to find all my drivers for XP i switched back to Vista with the help of my recovery DVD. But the problem remained the same with Vista also so finally i took my laptop to a Toshiba Service Centre.
They said there is a problem in motherboard so they fixed it but they didn't fixed the Bios.
I still have v5.20 on my machine.
I tried to downgrade to v2.40 but it always shows an error.
Can Anyone pls help me.. I'm able to boot with a USB thumbdrive but i don't have a DOS version of Bios v2.40.
Please if anyone can provide me with my version of bios.
I will be grateful to he/she forever.
here are my system specs.

Not even this when i buyed the laptop it showed me 749 something as shared Graphic memory now it only shows around 399.
I know this is all because of that Bios update.
Now im not even able to play good games.
This machine is almost useless for me now.
Any help from you people will do.

thanky you very much for ur response and time Raver.
i have the reasons for downgrade i hope u'll understand. Here they are :-
1. From the very 1st day i upgraded to v5.20 my problems started which led me to take my machine to an ASP.
2. Problems Started like overheating, freezing, BDOS, and performance degradation.
3. Shared Video Graphic memory declined to only 399 is this am i suppose to get ??? i remember well that before upgrade to v5.20 it was higher than 749 something. i have a Nvidia GeForce Go 7300 Gfx with 2GB of Ram in my Notebook.
4. I'm unable to play Good Games, the games lags and its performance disappoints me. before upgrade those games were running smoothly.
All I'm asking u guyz is for a correct version of my bios which is v2.40 if u can provide me that i will be grateful becaose im fed up this v5.20 it is making my notebook a peice of trash day by day.
Please look in this matter and give me some more of ur precious time in searching correct version 2.40 for my notebook
Regards In Advance.

  • Satellite C660 - How to downgrade the BIOS?

I have the same problem. Latest BIOS version for my notebook is 1.3 but on my is 1.4 installed?! Notebook is 10 days and I cant work with it.
We have few C660 (PSC0LE) we bought tham on same day and they all have 1.3 and are working perfect. Only my is BIOS 1.4 version and its not good at all.
Please my question is how can I flash BIOS with 1.3?

    Hey,
I agree with the user above. BIOS downgrade can only be done from an authorized service provider. So you should get in contact with the guys and ask if they can downgrade the BIOS for you or probably they can send you an older BIOS version via e-mail Just talk with the guys a little bit ;)
But normally newest BIOS version has most bug fixes so I dont think a downgrade is useful

  • I cannot enter the BIOS mode on my Yoga Ideapad - Novo button does not do anything

    Hi,
I have a win 8.1, and cannot access the Bios in any way I tried.
I shut down the computer, pressed the Novo button - nothing happens.
Pressed it while turning the computer on, nothing happens.
I'd like to change the F keys to their normal state (being Fn keys and not volume etc.).
    How do I do this?
    Thanks,
    Iram

Reboot while holding down Shift, choose Advanced -> UEFI Firmware Settings, voila you're in the bios.

  • Can I downgrade the BIOS on my X201i?

Does anybody know if it is possible/advisable to "update" one's BIOS to a previous version? That is, are there additional problems involved with downgrading the BIOS than the common risks with BIOS upgrades?
What I'm considering doing is downgrading to the version released in late June 2013, since it supposedly fixes the battery drain issue. Nobody at Lenovo apparently cares to respond to any of my queries of how it is possible that I have a newer version of the BIOS than is currently posted as the newest one (I have 1.40-1.20 installed since Oct-2012; the latest, new version posted Jun-2013 is 1.40-1.15) nor what to do about it. So I'm considering going ahead and reinstalling (overwriting) my current BIOS with the one posted on the web site: 1.40-1.15. (I'm experiencing quite severe problems with heat as well as terrible battery drain post upgrading to Win8 Pro.)
I'm no BIOS expert, so I am unaware of any risks or potential problems by downgrading one's BIOS. Perhaps there's nothing to it and amounts to the same as any BIOS upgrade/install. If so, please let me know. I'm in complete lack of reliable expertise.
    Thank you!

I'd tend to believe that your problems are related to W8 and not the BIOS version that you're running.
That being said, yes you can downgrade the BIOS and the risks are the exact same ones that are present during any BIOS upgrade.
    Good luck.

  • Satellite 1400-103: Cannot access the BIOS Setup

I'm having problems getting into the BIOS setup. At the 1st bootup screen I press ESC key then message appears Check system. Then press F1 key. Once key is pressed it doesn't take me to BIOS setup and laptop reboots. Any help will be much appreciated.
    James

No it doesn't. There is a problem with the OS and I was gonna do a repair using an XP disk. I have been trying to boot from cd rom by pressing C button and I've also tried pressing F12 key to change boot device. The teacher whose laptop it is has put a bios password on bootup but I'm assuming this shouldn't affect bootup or accessing the bios setup. I'm not sure if it's a supervisor password or administrator password.

  • Satellite A200 - Cannot change language on Toshiba OEM CD

Hoping to find some help on how to change my Toshiba Satellite A200 from Spanish Language to English.
I asked a friend to buy me this notebook from Spain, unknowing to him the OEM came in spanish language and the recovery CD as only is only spanish but i don't understand spanish and i have been finding it difficult to go about the notebook since i don't want to click the wrong thing in spanish.
Even when i install programs, it automatically installs in spanish and this is really frustrating,
    Somebody HELP!!!

The notebooks are country specific products. That means that every notebook manufacturer offers product with country specific keyboard and operating system.
Toshiba recovery image is not multilingual installations image and you cannot install Vista on English using this DVD.
What you need is Microsoft Vista installations DVD on English language. Drivers, tools and utilities for your notebook on English language you can find on European Toshiba support page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

  • Satellite A200 - Floppy Disc for Bios Update

    I'm in trouble!
    I have a Satellite A200 version PSAE6E.
I have formatted C: & E: to install Windows XP Pro.
This is the problem: I have previously installed new version of Bios 2.50, compatible only with Vista 32Bit.
Now, i need the file to update the bios to version 5.60, only compatible with XP, from boot with a floppy disk.
    Some one can halp me?
    Thanks!

    >The installation of XP crash in blue screen with this BIOS.
BIOS version has nothing to do with WXP installation and what you do is just to complicate the situation.
For successfully WXP installation you MUST use WXP SP2 installations CD. When the installations starts load SATA driver (ICH8M-32bit) and continue the installation.
The instructions about this you can do under http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB8602DB0001R01.htm
Install WXP, chipset driver, display driver, sound driver, modem driver and LAN driver. After doing this update BIOS to WXP version and after restart continue to install other stuff from Toshiba support page.

  • Re: Tecra M11 cannot access the BIOS

I have a brand new Tacra M11-11L machine. I have set a password on the BIOS but cannot now access it at all. When I switch it on I get the Toshiba splash screen, i press the escape key and am presented with a little note saying "F2 for Setup". I press F2 and the screen goes blank, i get a underling cursor flash three times at the top of the screen and then it boots into windows. I need to change a setting that is not covered by HWSetup. I can get into HWSetup with my password but it is not use to me!

    Hi
Try firstly *INS* button and then *F2* button
    In my case this worked!

  • Satellite A100-151: Downgrade of BIOS

    Hello,
I upgraded my Notebooks BIOS to Version 1.80.
Now I have some grafical problems (Screen looks a little bit like JPG-arthefacts). Not nice.
Is it possible to downgrade the (before the upgrade saved) BIOS-file BIOS.BAK?
If yes, please tell me how to do this.
    Thanx, Carsten

    Hello Maurice,
here (http://img59.imageshack.us/my.php?image=lcdmg2.jpg) you can find a picture of someone who has posted the problem in another forum.
This problem appears not in the colours (red, green, blue) of a screen, it only appears in the 256 gray-"colours", what too is produced by a mix of red, green and blue (and is dithered by the computer because some of the notebook only have an 18bit screen, but the Soft/Hardware is working in 32bit. So the missing 14bit are dithered).
You can see it only in grey (to black) aeras on screen, for example in the background of many Softwares, like Word or Photoshop (before you open a document). Tey are grey.
Until BIOS 1.30 the dithering was programed correct, but in all versions above 1.30 (1.40 - 1.80) the dithering-processing for 18bit screens had changed and showed mistakes in the grey aeras of a screen of some A100 Notebooks.
    Greetings, Carsten

  • Satellite M30x: Cannot install the VAP - ID-ERR-NOTINSTALLTVALTZ

    Hi,
I have got a little problem with my Sat M30x and Vista system. I need to change the cooling method to slow down the CPU fan as I did in WinXP using Toshiba Power Saver.
Unfortunately, the utility does not seems to be available for Vista.
I have tried to search for some solution which might be Toshiba Valued Added Package. It is supposed to add the method change option into Vista power settings, but I am unable to install the program - ends with an "ID-ERR-NOTINSTALLTVALTZ-MESSAGE" error.
General advice is a bios update, but the latest version I have found - 1.90, ATI video - is already installed.
Please, is there any way to get rid of the noisy fan without downgrading the OS?
    Thanks a lot.

I wonder where you have found the VAP (Value Added Package) for this notebook model.
I checked the Toshiba European driver page and found some drivers for Visa 32bit in Archive area
    But there is NO VAP!!!!
Therefore Ive got only one explanation why this error occurs; you have tried to install this software which is NOT compatible with Sat M30X!!!

  • I cannot update the BIOS or even reinstall the current BIOS.

Every available version of the BIOS for my Pavilion dv9612ca claims that it is 'not for this model'
I am trying to resolve an issue where the OS ( Vista 32 bit ) no longer detects the CD/DVD drive. It does show in the BOOT Configuration when I go into SETUP for the BIOS.

Thanks, I tried the REGEDIT first, and rebooted a couple of times to no avail. I then did a full restart and ran tried the FIXIT script. I completed with a failure, saying that it could not detect a CD/ROM device. I took this to mean it failed, but when I rebooted it later DEVICE MANAGER now shows the DVD/RW finally.
I don't understand why it took so many reboots, but something seems to have fixed the detection of the device.

  • Satellite L650 - Cannot start the Office 2010 - icon has changed

    I have a new Satellite L650.
Using the Office 2010 icon on the desktop and my software code I installed the program.
Now I can't find it and the changed office icon says only for use for installed programs.
Where is it? Not in the listed programs.

    Hi mate
Office is a package which contains several single applications like MS Word, Outlook, etc... so you will not be able to start Office clicking on Office icon.
If you want to start MS Word for example, then you will need to choose this software.
Usually you could find this going to Start button -> All Programs -> MS Office.
