Satellite A200 - strange issue after graphic driver upgrade

The problem concerns the driver for Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family. System: Vindows VISTA 32bit Home Premium Service Pack 1. Laptop: Satellite A200.
I installed the new driver from this source (suggestion by Toshiba TEMPO):
http://ce.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_driver_details.jsp?ID=65340&OSID=26&drive rLanguage=42&SOURCE=TEMPO&LNG=20
After switching on of the computer, the system is constantly asking me ("warning about securities"), whether to run (open) 3 files: C:\Windows\System32\igfxtray.exe / ...hkcmd.exe / ...igfxpers.exe. Disabling of option "Always ask before opening of the file" doesn't help. I have to choose option "Open / Cancel / Close" to continue switching on of the Windows (any option allows switching on). Please mind that I have translated above mentioned communications from Polish.
Answer for the question, which I received from Intel(R) Technical Support:
++This is actually not a problem with our drivers. This is related to the administrative/user rights and security features set by Windows* Vista.++
Yours faithfully,
Maciej Kochan

When you install drivers, you should Right-click the EXE file and choose "Run as Administrator".
You should also temporarily disable your security software or reconfigure it to allow the system file.
Spyware removal tools such as AdAware and Spybot (or the spyware tool in your Internet Security package) may be blocking the system file.

  • Satellite L50D - Boot issues after Hard Drive replacement

I have just upgraded my hard drive from the pathetic 5400 crod they supply to an SSHD@7200rpm but now have a major issue.
I initially imaged the os from the old hard drive back to the new drive and have had chronic boot issues (1 in 3-4 boot attempts succeed else it fails at any point (often at the Toshiba startup screen)).
I've reinstalled from a plain clean Win 8.1 ENT disc (trying to avoid the bloatware) and this has the exact same issue and was what I used to format the laptop fine with previously and worked previously.
I've tried reformatting and reinstalling (deleting ALL partitions each attempt) in CSM, UEFI non secure and UEFI secure. CSM is a straight never works no go and both UEFI methods have the exact same outcome.
I've tried with the original restore discs and it seems to work (haven't had time to fully test) but I don't want the bloatware and this should not matter since if I were a customer who forgot to make the restore discs (happens too often) and just had to have a failed or killed hard drive replaced the laptop would now be a door stop.
This seems as bad as Apple for locking people in :/.
So I'd appreciate ideas from people please, I'm not sure if there is a prep program that is supposed to be run over a new drive like PS3's etc (I doubt it) but this is driving me up the wall and will be the last time I consider Toshiba as anything other than a joke if there is no fix.
I've had to replace hard drives a few times in my previous Toshiba laptops and had none of this crod, it has something to do with the UEFI which seems more of a nuisance than assistance at the moment.
    TIA.

    Hi
In my opinion you should check firstly if this booting issue is related to the new installed HDD or new installed system.
You said that the notebook fails to boot often at the Toshiba splash screen.
The splash screen appears while POST (power on self test) procedure. During this test, the hardware will be checked.
Im wondering if the hybrid SSD/HDD isnt recognized by BIOS during this particular step.
From my point of few this might be the reason why the system cannot be booted up.
    Another important note:
The Win 8.1 requires enable secure boot as well as the UEFI boot mode.
Therefore you should enable both options in BIOS.
Last but not least check if you are using latest BIOS version as well as latest firmware for hybrid SSD/HDD

  • Satellite A200-25Z: trouble with display driver

    Hi,
I'm trying to install WIN XP on a A200 25Z. At first all seemed to work fine but now I constantly get a bluescreen before xp loaded completeley saying something like memory problem on ati2mtag.dll driver
Sometimes, it does start but then when I have to restart next time it won't start up again...
I've reinstalled xp now several times, updatet the bios to the xp version but still the problem stays the same.
Anyone else had a similar experience like that?
    Best

    > The problem is now, at first it seemed to work. But about two weeks later after I installed a game the next restart came up with a blue screen. The game itself didn't have any problems. Just the next restart. And since then whatever I try doesnt really help it.
It looks like the error with you graphic driver appears only after the installation of the game. For me it sounds like a compatibility issue with graphic driver and the installed game.
I have noticed that some other notebook series use the same graphic card Mobility Radeon X2600.
So try to use the ATI graphic driver from Toshiba European driver page:

  • Strange Application Issues after Mountain Lion Upgrade!

I'm having, what I believe to be, strange issues with a clean install of Mountain Lion from 10.6.8
It's for my boss' computer at work so I can't afford to have it down for very long at a time. It's hard to pinpoint the issue(s).
    Computer:
    Mac Pro - Early 2009
    OS X 10.8.3
    2 x 2.6 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    32 GB 1066 MHz DDR3
The startup disk is 4x2TB RAID 5 using Apple RAID card (Firmware version: E-1.3.2.0; Hardware Revision: 2.00; Driver version: 124
The following is what happened/is happening:
    1. (Tuesday)
Created a bootable backup of system drive using Disk Utility
    Performed a Clean install
Used migration assistant to copy over applications from backup
Downloaded (from Amazon) and installed Microsoft Office 2011
Imported Addresses (including imported Previous Recipients that were imported into Contacts before exporting on old system)
Setup email & copied over mailboxes from backup
Moved all files back onto the system (User folders)
Everything worked fine from Wednesday - Sunday.
    Problems reported to me (Sunday)
"Chinese characters" on save dialogue box in Microsoft Excel
Mail crashed while dragging a photo from safari to it
After a restart, Mail, all Microsoft Office apps, and Final Cut Pro wouldn't open.
Tried to reset preference files, but nothing worked.
    2. (Monday night)
    Performed another Clean Install
    Migrated Applications
Transferred mailboxes (not old emails at this time)
Imported same group of addresses as before into Contacts
    Installed Microsoft Office
    Moved user data back
Transferred old email mailboxes (Tuesday afternoon)
Everything worked fine Tuesday - Thursday early morning)
Problems reported to me (Thursday morning)
When typing in an email address to send an email, it didn't autofill. Mail crashed.
Mail wouldn't open. Different from last, this time it said the ~/Library/Mail folder was moved. I checked and the folder was there with everything in it fine.
The Microsoft applications that were open at the time of the Mail crash still worked, but others wouldn't open. After closing the open applications then they wouldn't open back up (same as before)
    Final Cut Pro opened fine.
Fixed Mail by deleting the ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail folder.
Later found out that though Final Cut would open it would crash when loading a project and that Quicklook wouldn't work for quicktime files across the network & codecs were missing (this could have been cause by me when trying to test problems).
    3. (Sunday)
Restored from a different bootable backup I made after 2nd clean install and migrated applications.
    Repaired Permissions using Disk Utility
    Moved over Mail data
    Copied over user data
    *Didn't import the addresses
Checked to make sure all the fonts were validated and no duplicates
Everything worked fine after install and through Monday.
    Problems to me (Tuesday morning)
Microsoft Office disappeared completely from the computer. No folder in Applications or dock icons.
Slower to connect to network files
Re-installed Microsoft Office to keep work progress going.
What would be causing this peculiarity? It works after I fix it and for a little afterwards but then strange things happen.
Would repairing disk permissions on bootable backup (of 10.6.8) before using migration assistant help?
What is the best way to track down what is causing these issues?
    Thanks!

I suggest that the best way to upgrade from 10.6.8 to Mountain Lion is one of the following:
    (1) Simply perform an upgrade install. This is in fact Apple's recommended approach. I am not sure why you have not yet tried that. I have done this myself successfully.
    (2) Make a backup of the working 10.6.8 system; better yet is to make two complete backups, one being a "clone," the other being a Time Machine backup. Use of two different methods gives you options should something go wrong. Then erase the original disk and install Mountain Lion, and on the first boot up run Setup Assistant (which is better than Migration Assistant) and transfer over EVERYTHING, including user accounts, settings, applications. I have also used this approach, also successfully.
You did neither (1) nor (2), but seem to have done some sort of hybrid by transfering applications and then manually moving over some mail files and moving over some user files. I don't think this is a recommended approach. It can result in permissions issues, which can cause things to "disappear" or otherwise behavior oddly.
I do not understand how your use of a RAID setup and a RAID card might affect any procedures which otherwise might work smoothly. Are you 100% certain that your RAID hardware and firmware are compatible with Mountain Lion?
Assuming that the RAID is not the issue and it behaves to the OS just like a normal disk, I would try the full disk erase and install of Mountain Lion followed by a Setup Assistant on first boot up to move over everything from your clone backup.
If this does not work, then I would erase and restore back from your clone, so you get your 10.6.8 system working again. Then I would try a simple upgrade install of Mountain Lion.
If that fails, then I would erase and install Mountain Lion with one new administrative user created who has a different user name than the person whose stuff you need to restore. Then with that new administrative user I would make sure the RAID is all up and running. Then I would use Migration Assistant to migrate over users only and would reinstall all software from scratch. If that is not to your liking, I'd as a less desirable alternative use Migration Assistant to migrate over everything, applications and users. You will have that new, extra administrative user as well as the original user(s), but that should cause no harm.

  • Satellite A200 - WebCam issue - webcam drives has failed

    Hi,
I need some help regarding the integrated webcam of my Satellite A200.
Everytime I start the laptop I keep receiving a message saying that the webcam drives has failed and I have to restart the computer, but the problem persists.
I have downloaded an updated webcam driver, but nothing.
Can anyone give me an idea of what is going on?
    Thanks!

Ok - I've had the same problem:
"Everytime I start the laptop I keep receiving a message saying that the webcam driver has failed to load and I have to restart the computer"
Same when trying to update driver from Toshiba site, same when rolled back / uninstalled drivers, then re-installed default drivers. Nothing worked.
Sorry - but the solution that worked for me wasn't easy.
I had to disassemble the laptop to take a look - fix something else ( wireless on/off switch had broken / jammed in off position - lugs had snapped on back of the slider switch on the case, but no problems, I just left it in "on" position, as wireless can be switched off in software anyway). I decided as I'd got that far already, to pull the laptop completely apart and clean it out properly.
There's a shielded cable running from the webcam in the lid, though to a small white socket on the motherboard, accessible under the keyboard, next to the wireless board.
I was disconnecting various other cables etc, and came across this one disconnected, and couldn't remember disconnecting it myself. Hmmmm...
Anyway, I connected it back up on reassembly, it pushes in to the socket and seems seated, but needs an extra little push to "snap" securely in place.
My guess is that some of these haven't been seated properly ex-factory. They probably work just fine, until perhaps through repeated flex on the back of the keyboard when typing, or opening and closing the lid, the connector falls out of the socket.
Anyway - my webcam works again now. (using Vista SPII and all current updates, but in my case that's not relevant, as it was NOT a software or driver issue).
There's instructions (with pictures) for disassembling the A200 on the net - use google to find them. You don't need to pull it completely apart, just to the point where you can get the keyboard out, then you can access the connector.

  • Satellite P870 - WiFi issues after Win 8.1 upgrade

    Internet through wireless is hopeless.
Maybe 3 in 10 pages will load correctly or not at all, mostly not at all.
Other wireless devices in the house are fine, as is using the Ethernet .
Checked the drivers through the device manager, says they are up to date.
However using the toshiba service station it lists 12 updates including one for the Realtek wireless driver.
The date of release definitely after the current installed version.
Trying to update through the service centre it completes and then comes up with an error message, something like process ended by the user.
Of course I never ended anything.
    Any ideas/thoughts? Just uninstall 8.1?
    Though I would rather not.

    Hi
Did you follow the Win 8.1 installation instruction?

  • Satellite A200-1M8 PAE6E: CD/DVD drive issue - power calibration error

    Hi,
I have an Satellite A200-1M8 ( or A200 PAE6E ) with Vista and for some time I've been trying to burn some dvds which I failed due to power calibration error.
I tested my DVD-ROM and it works normally, the problem is it does not read (recognise) every dvd.
Is there anyone who can help me out about this?
Or how can I learn which type of media my DVD-ROM would read?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
I think I have founded an interesting article for you:
[Is there a list of supported type of CD-R/-RW or DVD-R/+R/-RW/+RW/-RAM discs which should be used?|http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=36]
But generally a power calibration error means that its the media is faulty or not compatible with the drive.

  • Satellite A200-1AE - Is it possible to upgrade the graphic card?

Could you please tell me what model of graphics card or chipset could be used to upgrade this laptop?
Will it be possible to with "CUDA"?
If can I change the processor to a higher, without cooling, to do other?

Graphic card upgrade on mobile PCs is not supported. You can do on desktops but not on notebooks.
Notebooks have specific construction and design, well adjusted cooling system and are also supported by tested and right display drivers.
With new and more powerful graphic card you can have overrating problem and hardware can be damaged.
In my opinion GPU upgrade is not a good idea.

  • GT70 Barebone - Strange issue after upgarde to GTX980M

    Hi
I just upgraded my Laptop (Medion Erazer X7825) with a GTX980M. Amazing card - fast - silent - a dream.
Unfortunately I'm having a real strange issue with that machine now:
Booting with a external screen connected to HDMI crashes the Intel HD4600 driver and the fan starts to spin real fast. I checked CPU and GPU temps but they seem perfectly ok (about 50 degree celsius). In addition the backlight of the laptop screen is lit but it is not detectable or usable.
Booting without external screen and everything is fine. If I connect it after boot the machine switches the main display to the external screen and the laptop screen is not lit any more. Everything fine so far.
Once I activate the Laptop Screen as second screen however the fan goes crazy again after a few minutes. The only good thing is - I could in theorie use both screens that way.
If the fan spins up it does so suddenly and violently and without any obvious reason: CPU and GPU temps are really low and no 3D app is running.
Medion is selling the same machine (same chassis, still GT70 based so I assume same hardware) with a gtx980m pre installed. However Medion is not providing any firmware updates for the Erazer series.
I think this is an issue that is most probably related to bios and/or vbios and could be fixed. I just need to get in touch with someone who has access to the right ressources and know how.
If someone could help me with requiring either the bios and vbios of an Medion Erazer X7835 - OR with a matching MSI GT70 Bios and a better GTX980M MSI bios than I have that would be a great help. Last step would be to advise me a little on how to flash because the medion bios is crippled - i CAN'T disable secure boot unfortunately.
Any other help or advise with the issue would also be highly apprectiated.
    My GT70 Bios reads:
    1763EM71 and E1763IM7.50B
    My GTX980M vBios reads:
    84.04.22.00.0A
    UPDATE 2014-12-21:
I also just found out that the way I connect the external monitor does also make a difference: If I connect via VGA cable the intel HD driver is not crashing even when I connect before boot. And the fan is keeping it's silence - at least as far as I can tell right now.

Quote from: chc on 25-December-14, 17:42:17
Really weird symptom.....But why you think that Intel Graphic driver crashed?! Have you seen other failure besides fan went nuts?
Yes. The device manager showed an error with the HD 4600 iGP. And the intel HD control panel did not show up. Furthermore the internal display was not detected/unusuable.
So this is where I stand right now:
With the help of a very kind soul here I updated my Bios and EC to a very recent Medion version.
The intel driver is not crashing any more with the monitor connected using HDMI at boot.
However the fan/EC is still going into panic mode after a random time.
With the new bios/ec firmware I can run 3d benchmarks for hours as long as I do NOT connect the external screen. The intel driver seems also to be not crashing any more. As soon as I do connect an internal monitor after some time - fan in panic mode and does not calm down again.
All temperature readings I can see a perfectly fine (CPU, HD4600 GPU and 980m GPU).
I'm really desperate right now. I THINK it is somehow connected to optimus and an issue with intel igp + gtx980m.
I would like to try another vBios if I could just get a hold of it.
    Right now it's reading "84.04.22.00.0A (P04 B-oard)" (exactly this - including the P04 B-oard).
If someone is able to share a newer/different MSI vBios or has the clevo bios the card had originally (which I lost) please post a link or PM me.
I'm about to give up :(

  • Satellite A200 continuously restarts after windows update

    Hey all,
The model Satellite A200-1GB (PSAE6E) worked perfectly for two years now (with Vista 32bit).
Since running windows update yesterday and restarting, the laptop's been stuck in a loop of restarts, immediately restarting after the "POST" screen (Toshiba logo, etc) with a flash of blue screen.
Holding F8 to read the message, it says INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE (0x000007B) ...
Trying to restore to a point before the failure failed for unknown reason (gave an error).
Research in Google yielded a possible cause - maybe harddrive driver has changed to an incompatible type. There were some suggestions to turn off AHCI support in bios, but it doesn't have that option.
The bios was not updated since purchase (it's version 1.4), but I can't update it because it seems the only update provided by Toshiba requires windows.
Anybody has any clue how to fix the computer without reinstalling windows? Anything?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ofir

    Hi
I doubt it could be a hardware error (my personal opinion) but nothing is impossible you know
The point is that a BSOD can be caused by hardware error but also by an serious software issue
In my opinion something went wrong during the update
If you are not able to start the OS even using an safe mode then a new OS installation would be the last chance to get this issue sorted
I think you should try a new install in order to find out if this could be a hardware issue because there is a small rest of risk that this could be a hardware problem

  • Boot Camp Windows 7 Black Screen After Graphic Driver Installation

    Hi,
I have MacBook air (2012 model i think). I tried to install windows 7 64 bit using bootcamp. On the first windows boot and before installing boot camp drivers windows was fine. After installing bootcamp drivers and windows restart the windows came up to a black screen and stuck forever. When I uninstall graphic driver (intel HD 4000), windows is good again. Tried to reinstall different graphic drivers versions - didn't work. searched internet everywhere and didn't find any solution.
    please help!

I have solved this issue now but seem to have encountered another one. I solved the above issue simply by keep on trying time and time again, partitioning the hard drive and trying to install windows 7.
Anyway, I have encountered this error: windows setup could not apply the configuration set. The WINDOWS folder cannot be found.
    Please help!

  • Satellite A200 - Picture issue with Photoshop CS4 Extended

    Hi Everyone
I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 notebook and I have tried to install Photoshop CS4 Extended yesterday.
There appears to be a problem as every image I bring up looks like this (image link to my flickr account to show what is happening) http://www.flickr.com/photos/meg_and_fred/2990212103/
I have updated the ATI driver, uninstalled and reinstalled CS4 and its still not working. I also have Photoshop Elements 6 which is opening the same images perfectly so it mus be a CS4 and A200 compatibility problem - does anyone know how to fix this or what the problem could be?
    Thanks so much!!

Maybe you should update your Photoshop CS4 Extended software.
In my opinion this could solve this issue because as you said the picture can be edited properly using the Photoshop Elements 6.
I think its ONLY a Photoshop CS4 Extended software issue.
