Satellite A205-s4707: High temperature of touchpad and HDD

Hi
just bought a toshiba satellite A205-s4707 series laptop and my problem is that my touch pad gets heat when i use the for a few ours.
Is it normal, also my hard drive temperature reaches 135 fahrenheit degrees.
If you can help me with my problem a will appreciate

Hm, I dont think that this is a problem because your machine is working properly, doesnt it?
I mean, you have a really powerful system which is packed in a minimum of size.
Please compare your machine with a desktop and you will recognize that you have much lesser cooling devices than a desktop computer with a similar performance. So, dont worry, thats normal that a notebook computer gets a little bit warmer.
If something starts to melt, then its critical. :) But it wont happen. ;)

  • Satellite A500-1GM electric circuit touching touchpad and USB case

It's intermittent, but I seem to be able to create a current through my fingers from the two buttons at the front of the touchpad.
Current plug configuration is like this:
    - 4 way splitter, including plugged in laptop and plugged in external hard drive
    - IF the hard drive is plugged in but NOT connected to laptop with the USB cable, touching the touchpad buttons and the metal casing of the external hard drive creates a circuit.
    - This circuit can be bypassed by connecting the USB cable to the laptop.
    - This circuit can be recreated by unplgging the laptop from the mains.
The sensation of the electric circuit is a buzzing tingling through my fingertips at the point of contact with the touchpad buttons.
By running my fingers along the buttons, the circuit can be felt stronger.
Why does this occur? How are the touchpad buttons connected to the power source?
How can I get this repaired?

    Hi
I think this happens because of earthing.
    [Wikipedia Ground (electricity)|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ground_(electricity)]
If the external HDD is not connected to the notebook via USB cable then there is no conduction and grounding. The same happens when the AC adaptor would be disconnected.
I think the insulation of your HDD is not good and I would recommend contacting the dealer or the HDD support team.

  • Satellite T135 How to enter Safe Mode and HDD Recovery if "F8" doesn't work

    Hello everybody
I have a Toshiba Satellite T135 Laptop and it has recently crashed. Since then, every time I switch it on, Startup Repair automatically gets enabled. But it fails repairing the error.
I tried to resolve the problem with System Restore, but that didn't work either. So I think I have to go through the HDD recovery procedure.
The problem is, that I have a lot of data on my laptop that I need to safe first. I wanted to do this via Safe Mode which I supposedly should be able to enter by pressing "F8" while initializing, when the Windows logo appears. But my laptop doesn't react when I press F8, but rather begins to make a alerting sound, if I press the button for a longer time.
Apart from how to enter safe mode when pressing F8 while initializing doesn't work, I do have a second question: Is Toshiba Recovery Wizard the equivalent for HDD Recovery Procedure? That's the only similar option I've been able to find...
Thank you very much for your advice.

    Hi buddy,
Yes, the Toshiba HDD recovery option will wipe the *first* partition of HDD. Thats the partition where Windows is installed so all files on this partition will be deleted to restore the original out of box settings. If you have stored the data on this partition they will be deleted but all data on second partition will not be deleted.
You can perform a backup if you buy an external HDD case as MisterX suggested. Put the notebook HDD into this case and connect it to another computer. Then you can back up all files that you need. :)

  • Mbp late 2014 very high temperature at internet videos

    Hello,
I bought an MacBook Pro 13" about 3 weeks ago. After some time, I noticed that the Macbook got very hot while watching videos online. I installed "Istat menu" for reading the temperature sensor's values. When i watch videos online (e.g youtube/facebook) the temperature goes up to about 90°C in only a few seconds-a minute. Since you can track apps with higher energy consumptions in yosemite (10.10.1) i looked into the activity monitor and it said the webbrowser (tested with safari and chrome) consumed up to +300 units. If i set the fan to turn on max RPM and hold the MB completely up, i get the temperature down to about 60°C, until i close the youtube/facebook tab completely. Amazon prime video in 1080p works without getting hot at all, even when the Macbook rests on a blanket. Sometimes even spotify (not even playing music, just running in the background) causes high temperatures, but AutoCAD and other programs work "regularly", without the MBP getting hot..
That circumstances really disturb the useability, because almost cant watch videos at all!
I ran the "Apple hardware test" (pressing "D" while startup), which did not give any problems/errors.
Is this a Yosemite problem or a hardware problem?
    sincerely ttopueth.

Neither.  Some videos will produce temperature in the 90°c range.  That actually is 'normal' and is not dangerous to your MBP.  There are thermal shutdown provisions that will prevent the MBP from committing Hari Kari.  If you wish, get a cooling pad to lower the temperature a touch.
    Ciao.

  • Is the high temperature worrying you?

Many of you have been worrying about the high temperature while gaming, and same here. Friend of mine saw this post from one of the notebook specialized forum in China, and there is an amazing guy sharing this special EC firmware which he says that it can help to lower the temperature.
We have tried it on my friend's GS70 2PE and the result is really good! It lowers the temperature and the performance doesn't have much differences comparing with the original firmware. He is really happy with the result even though he doesn’t want to try at the beginning. The coolest thing of this is that you get to switch it back so easily anytime just by pressing “Fn+F7”("Cooler Boost button" for GE60/GE70).
Make sure you get the right model of the download link:
    GE60 2PC/GE60 2PE
    GE70 2PC/GE60 2PE
    GS60 2PC/GS60 2PE
    GS70 2PC/GS70 2PE
    Original post from: http://benyouhui.it168.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=5300759&page=1&extra=#pid32571812

now if I only could read Chinese and see what they said in the original thread haha. What is the temperature difference with this EC?

  • Satellite P300D-10V - Turn off by high temperature

    Hi!
I have a TOSHIBA Satellite P300D-10V and I have a problem with overheating! When I load my CPU with 2,2 GHz for a long time, it turn off by high temperature!
What must be my solution about this problem?
"Normal" temperature for my laptop is around 70 - 75 degrees cslsius! Is it normal for this CPU?
I have used another laptop with Intel CPU and there is no such problem! My Toshiba is in use for 2 years! OS Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit
    REGARDS!

    Hi alexander79,
First of all you should know that cleaning the fan is not covered by warranty!!! Of course you can do this from an authorized service provider but for this service you have to pay, its not free!
More detailed instructions you can find in this how to article from Toshiba:
[How to clean the cooling system of a Toshiba notebook? |http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=40]
As you can read, the notebook should be cleaned every 3-4 months and believe me, you will be very surprised how much dust come out ;)
Last but not least its also important that you only use display drivers from Toshiba.
I had also a problem with overheating and this was caused due a wrong display driver (I used the drivers from nVidia page). They are not pretested and dont have an overheat protection The result was overheating and turning off.
After installation of Toshiba display driver the problem was solved.

  • Unable to install SQL server 2000 and 2005 on Satellite A205-s5831

    Hello everyone.
I Needs some helps from all of you.
I have Toshiba Laptop Satellite A205-S5831.
Its Have Windows Vista Home Premium.
And I am unable to install SQL server 2000 and 2005.
I also Unable to Install Windows XP SP2.
    Problem is SATA driver.
    Plz Help me ...!
    Response me

    Hi
The Windows XP needs a SATA driver if you want to install it on the notebook with SATA HDD controller.
The SATA driver can be found in the Intel Storage Manager.
I would recommend using the nLite program to include a SATA driver into the new Windows XP CD and then to boot from the new created XP CD.
Here you will find all details regarding the nLite:
    http://www.nliteos.com/
    Regarding SQL server issue;
Maybe you will be able to install in on Windows XP. Possibly there is a compatibility issue between the Vista and the SQL server software

  • Poor battery life and high temperatures on MacBook Pro Retina 15"

I'm having never-ending problems with poor battery life and high temperatures on a MacBook Pro Retina 15"
I took it in for service and they told me it needed a new logic board and replaced it.  When I asked why they were vague about the reasons, they said "it just needed one, it failed some test".  I now have the computer back and it runs the same way it always did.  I bought this laptop because it was supposedly capable of high end video editing in 1080P (or so Apple's website claims) and also photo editing.
"The processor, graphics, all-flash architecture, memory, and display in the 15-inch MacBook Pro give you unprecedented mobile video editing capabilities. Super-responsive flash storage delivers up to nine streams of 1080p ProRes (HQ) content for multicam editing in Final Cut Pro X,3 while the latest quad-core processors on the 15-inch MacBook Pro decode multiple streams of video, and a powerful GPU renders millions of pixels onto the screen. With flash storage that offers up to four times the performance of a traditional hard drive,1 you can even edit four streams of uncompressed 8-bit 1080p HD video, right from the internal storage on your 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display.4"
However, when I'm just browsing the web and emailing it runs quite warm and battery life is quite poor.  Sometimes doing those same activities I would say it gets so warm it's almost uncomfortable to have on your lap and the fans are running fast enough to become noticably noisy.  I'm also driving only one screen at and a time and I heard that the MacBook Pro can supposedly do three screens.
If actually try to do something like video editing with final cut pro the laptop gets really hot, the fans are on full blast and battery life drops to only an hour or two.  I think when I rendered just a 3 or 4 minute clip once I got less than hour of battery life.  I will have to time again.
Anyway most people (including the sales guys) are telling me no way this is not normal.  When I play with demos in the store browsing the web they are not getting warm or hot to the touch.  My friend's 2013 MacBook Air is also NOT getting warm to the touch doing the same activities.
I installed iStat Pro so I could check the temperature and fan speeds.  I'm seeing temperatures of 70+ on the GPU, 85+ on the GPU diode and 65+ on the CPU heatsink along with elvated fan speeds above 5K which becomes noticeably noisy.  I understand that might be normal for the most processor intensive tasks but it really doesn't seem right for just light web browsing and e-mailing.  (I also may have viber and skype open but that shouldn't matter).  CPU usage is usually running between 2-10% as this is all happening to.
    Furthermore, straight from the specs:
    Intel HD Graphics 4000
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB of GDDR5 memory and  automatic graphics switching
I am assume "GPU" and "GPU diode" are temp measurements on the discrenete NVIDIA video card, especially since MacBook Airs from the same and newer generatio do not have this reading.  Since Apple Claims the graphics "automatically switches" it seems all the harder to believe the GPU is reaching 85+ when in theory it shouldn't even be activated.  I mean, shouldn't the INtel HD Graphics 4000 be capable of simple web browsing and e-mailing?  Especially with only one screen activated (be it it the internal or an external)?
What should I do here?  When I asked the repair guys "OK well what is the normal operating temp range for the various sensors" they said "Sorry Apple doesn't provide that info".

    Yes I have.
Just web browsing and basically doing nothing I'm hear a lot of aduible fans, I'm getting 85C+ on GPU diode, 65+ on cpu heatsink.  I since installed anohter program that shows me not just the CPU heatsink but the cores and the cores are at 90C+.
Seems like a lot of heat for doing nothing.  Not only that but I have these problems with no external monitor while on battery power too.
I don't know what to do.  They already replaced the logic board.  Others seem to get advertised battery life out of Apple products and not have products that get **** near hot enough to burn you while just web browsing or watching a movie let alone advertised tasks like Photoshop and Final Cut Pro.

  • Satellite A205 - Start up and battery removal/insertion

My Satellite A205-S4607 will be two years old in May 2009 (purchased at a retailer).
Have been reasonably satisfied with the equipment, but in the last few months several times I've had start up issues. But the solution so far, luckily, turns out to be simple. I just take out and reinsert the battery and start up performs as usual. Is this a warning sign of something? This has happened about three times over a span of 4 or so months. It just happened again today. Is this normal?
I do carry it with me more than I used to so that could be a contributing factor with the movement, but don't see why it would be working itself loose.
After all, laptops were designed to move around.
Thanks in advance for anyone's input!

If the laptop doesn't post from time to time there could be and issue with the mainboard shorting out.
By re seating the battery this fixes the issue then it seems to be a short somewhere on the mainboard.
If its an intermittant issue then its possible theres something loose, maybe ram needs re seating.
Have you dropped your laptop in the past? Not enough to damage it, just a little bit to dislodge ram.

  • Iphone 3Gs high temperature and low batterie performance

    Hello,
This is my first question here, so I'm sorry if I doing something wrong.
About a week ago my iPhone 3Gs is demonstrating very high temperature, at any location (inside my pocket, over my desk e etc...) and situation (it happens even in airplane mode), not enough to a overheat warning dough. And his battery dies in about 1 hour, no matter what I do. I've done a recovery and its came back to normal for 2 days, but after that the heat and battery problem has returned.
    Could any body help me?

    xboxbmliphone wrote:
... I would just run the phone for a couple days without any apps, music, vids, just to make sure it still is working ok...
    Recommended!
Hot phone and battery drain, cause of both together, is some hardware defect as a micro short-circuit (the phone dropped in water, as example) or an app who have a bug who let it eat all the energy (keep on localization services, as example).
Let the phone hard reboot, too, to remove any crazy process left in.
If you still have the issue with nothing running on (please make sure really nothing is on, neither background apps or itunes songs or anything else), most likely is hardware defect and you need service, as pointed above.

  • GTX 560Ti Hawk high temperature and noise

First of all I want to say "Hi" because this is my first post here!
Second, I have problems with my GTX 560Ti Hawk! The problems are high temperature and very loud fans! I bought this card less than a month ago and it didn't work properly from the first day but I wanted to give it a chance so I kept it for a while so I could monitor symptoms. I haven't even tried to OC it. I monitored it the way it came from the box.
In idle card doesn't go over 40°C which is fine by me considering the weather but when I play games it goes all the way to 85°C and it's loud as jet taking off! It's is pretty much intolerable to be near this card when playing games! This product is advertised to be very cold and very silent but now that isn't the case. What bothers me most is that the card was running on open bench table which has very good air cooling ( I made it myself and decreased ~10°C compared to my case). That means that my Hawk would have burned if tested inside the case, or it would fly away!! :D
Everything is good until card hits 76°C - that's tolerable temperature and the card is still silent, but when it hits 76°C and goes up, all hell breaks loose!
Card doesn't crash and it runs perfectly (got performance increase ~30% from my GTX 460) but way higher temperatures and noise above advertised makes me wanting to crash it with a sledgehammer! :D
I RMA it today and waiting for answer which should arrive in two weeks tops (quick when taking money but very slow when support is needed)
I wanted to ask if RMA is even possible when card isn't crashing??? I RMA cards with similar problems before with no problems but that was Gigabyte - not sure what can I expect with MSI because this is my first MSI product since 2003. RMA should be possible because card has failed to fulfill expectations which are guarantied by MSI...
If they refuse to send another card or return the money, what should I do???
    Computer specs:
    AMD Phenom 2 X4 955BE
    Gigabyte GA-790XTA-UD4
2x2 GB DDR3 Mushkin Blackline Stiletto
MSI GTX 560Ti Hawk (previously owned Gigabyte GTX 460 768MB which never went above 65°C even highly OC-ed)
    Seasonic 620-GM
Patriot Pyro 60GB and WD 640GB Green
    Thank you!

  • Satellite A100-033: I disabled touchpad and now Fn+F9 doesn't enable it

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-033 running Vista Home Basic. I mostly use the laptop as a desk top replacement and, as I dislike using the touchpad, I disabled it, and instead I use an external mouse via one of the USB ports.
I am not sure whether I disabled the touchpad by pressing Fn + F9 or by some other means (if it was by some other means I have forgotten what this was). Recently I wished to re-enable the touchpad so that I could use the laptop outside the house. However, I found that pressing Fn & F9 did not re-enable the touchpad and I now can't use the touchpad at all.
If I go into mouse properties (in control panel), this tells me that my synaptics pointing device is enabled. If I go into device manager and look at "mice", I am told that my touchpad is working properly.
All this makes me suspect that the problem is not a hardware fault but that I have altered some setting, with the result that my touchpad is permanently disabled until I change the setting back to its original state.
    Help!

Jayjay, Thanks for your suggestions. I don't seem to have a system restore point which goes back far enough, so I don't think that possibility will work.
Regarding the possibility of reinstalling the touchpad driver, I may have to do this, but I am a bit put off by the fact that when I downloaded the touchpad driver from the Toshiba site and had a look at it, I was told that it was older than the one I already have on my laptop.
(My laptop is a year old and the touchpad driver on the Toshiba website was last updated in early 2007.)
I'm a bit reluctant to install a driver which is older than the one which I have already got and which my laptop tells me is working properly.
As I said, I may have to try re-installing the touchpad driver anyway, but I think I will wait a bit first, and see if I get any other suggestions.
    Thanks again for your reply.

  • Touchpad and touchscreen not working-Satellite C55Dt-B5205

I just purchased a Satellite C55Dt-B5205 on Tuesday, ran all the updates, and everything was working fine. I upgraded to Windows 10, and now my touchpad and the left/right buttons do not work at all. The touchscreen works on everything except only intermittently on the Google Chrome browser (at least everything that I've tried). I have tried enabling the touchpad, but it says it's already enabled. So then I tried turning my computer off, unplugging everything, taking the battery out, and holding the power key for 30 seconds. That didn't work either. (It was an idea I found online.) I've also tried the F5 button, that does nothing also. The touchpad DOES work when I restart the computer, at the screen where I have to sign in to the computer, but once I sign in, it not longer works.Any help would be greatly appreciated, and just FYI, I'm not hugely computer savvy, so clear instructions would be better.

I did some research last night. On Tom's hardware forum under post "Touchpad scroll not working - Windows 10" yoko_oh_no had a similar issue with their Satellite M-50-A and solved the problem with an earlier version of Elantech touchpad drive "Elantech_Touchpad_11.8.24.6". I've downloaded (from elsewhere) and installed this driver* 11.8.24.6 and all's fine on Windows 8.1 but I don't particularly want to re-install Windows 10 on my Satellite S50D-B-100 and find I've still got a problem with a non functioning touchpad. Perhaps someone who currently has Win 10 on their Satellite with a non working touchpad could give it a go? Important: Before trying the above first of all ensure that you have an Elan touchpad - not a Synaptics touchpad.Go to Control Panel and search for device manager, click on "Mice and other pointing devices" and check that it says Elan PS/2_SMBus Port Input Device or similar. *The only Elan downloadable drivers that showed for Satellite S50-B family on Toshiba Support (Computer Support -> Download Drivers) for my 64 bit Windows 8.1 were 11.8.22.3 and 11.8.29.5
