Satellite A205-S5864 unable to access programs

My Satellite A205-S5864 laptop with Vista has recently stopped allowing me to access programs after it has been on for a certain amount of time. The computer will display a message that says I am unable to access the program because I do not have the proper verification and I need to be the administrator for the computer. This makes no sense because I am the administrator, and I am unable to access any programs. i cannot even open up task manager. The icon for it appears on the toolbar near the clock, but the actual taskmanager does not appear and I cannot access it, although several of the icons can be present on the toolbar at once. It used to only happen when the power had been on for quite some time, sometimes hours. Now, it can happen within a half-hour of turning on. Do I have a virus, or is this a different problem?

I have ZoneAlarm serving as my firewall, and it was serving as my anti-virus/anti-spyware, but the college I am at requires us to download their own spyware protection, called Sophos anti-spyware. The Sophos clashes with the Zonealarm, and because I need the Sophos to access the internet I disabled the Zonealarm anti-spyware and left the firewall running. I also have Windows Defender, but I have tried to use it to scan my computer several times and it doesnt seem to be working. The progress bar moves, but it will not display any information about the files it is scanning and I have no proof that it is actually scanning any files at all. I do not know what the exact message was because it only comes up after a while, but when it does come up I will post exactly what it says.

    hey members, I'm a new at this so help me out in anyway possible.
    My Toshiba laptop is coming upon two years of age and it's been showing a disturbing trait recently. It has started to shutdown by itself automatically. I don't know what the source of the problem is be it hardware failure, software failure, etc. The computer does realize that it's going through improper shutdown as when I boot up the computer, it asks which mode i want to go through: safe mode, regular boot up, etc.
    So any suggestions or input on what this problem is would greatly appreciated. Depending on the problem, would it be worth it to shell out money for a tech to fix the problem or is it better to fix the problem myself?

    The Windows XP needs a SATA driver if you want to install it on the notebook with SATA HDD controller.
    The SATA driver can be found in the Intel Storage Manager.
    I would recommend using the nLite program to include a SATA driver into the new Windows XP CD and then to boot from the new created XP CD.

    Regarding SQL server issue;
    Maybe you will be able to install in on Windows XP. Possibly there is a compatibility issue between the Vista and the SQL server software

  • I have just purchased Photoshop Elements 13. Why am I unable to access the program?

    I have just purchased Photoshop Elements 13. I think it was installed. The title shows in my 'Downloads File'. I have tried double clicking on 'install' in the downloads file. All I get is a page of data that doesn't seem to do anything. When I purchased Photoshop Elements 12 there was no problem. The apps appeared on my monitor and I went to work. What appears on my monitor for Photoshop 13 is a file picure. When I click on it I go to the Downloads File. Can anyone help me?

    I am unable to access the Photoshop Elements 13 program.

  • Satellite A205-S7464: How to install Toshiba Common Modules for XP Pro SP2

    Greetings all.
    I have a new laptop that came preinstalled with Windows Vista Home Premium as they tend to.
    Vista does not run a number of the programs I need to run, I've found, and I really don't like it that much anyway..
    I have decided to install Windows XP.
    I partitioned the HD and ran the installer to a new partition on the drive with all of the drivers I've collected for XP sleepstreamed into my retail XP Professional disc. This is no problem. I got everything up and going just fine. My only problem now (well, other than some residual issues with the original Vista partition) is that I can't get the proprietary Toshiba utilities going so that I can use for example the FN+ commands, power management options, etcetera.
    I have experimented around with a couple of different versions of the Common Modules drivers and other utilities but have of yet been unable to get things moving in the direction I would like them to move.
    The main thing really is the control for FN+F6 and F7 (Adjusting brightness), as the monitor on this beast kills a battery.
    I've tried Toshiba support, but with no luck.
    I know the Vista to XP downgrade is a pretty common move, so if anybody has been there and could give me a little step by step guidance in getting things working I would be forever indebted.
    The model is Toshiba Satellite A205-S7464, Part No. PSAF3U-07300V.
    Let me know if any other information is necessary.

    It seems to be a notebook series which were delivered only in the USA and therefore all Toshiba drivers and utilities should be installed from the US site.

    Where did you find this Common modules driver?

    I presume you are not able to install these common modules because you have used wrong version which is not designed and not compatible with your notebook.

    From your statements above, it sounds like you never tried to burn a CD for at least the first year that you owned the laptop, as it had a one year warranty on it. While you might have used it frequently to install software,  play DVDs, Blu-Ray disks, etc, that's unclear from your statements. Nonetheless, it might just be dirty-dusty. So, before deleting-uninstalling any software, and given they're cheap, try a CD-DVD Cleaner Disk first and see if that resolves your problems.

  • Hi, I recently left my computer on my car and drove into heavy traffic.  After several hundred cars ran it over, I noted than I was unable to access my previously purchased copy of Photoshop Elements 10.  How can I download a replacement copy?

    It's true.  I was loaded down like a mule, approaching my car, needing a free hand, and thinking "I'll just set this on the roof for a moment..."
    I drove about 1/2 mile and turned left into rush-hour traffic.  No sound, no horns, no frantic hand gestures from fellow drivers, and no sinking feeling whatsoever for several minutes.  And then like that sudden stop at the end of long fall, it hit me.  I quickly turned around as though haste may matter - and it did.  Had five more minutes passed, there'd have been nothing larger than a grain-of-sand-sized evidence that my computer had once existed.  For the next 30 minutes, I dodged many hundreds of cars in my firm commitment to gather every last one of the 2,653 pieces that I would need for a successful reassembling.
    At some point during my repair attempt, I noted that I was unable to access my previously purchased copies of Photoshop Elements 10 and Premiere Elements 10.
    And since Dell.com's record of this purchase was apparently destroyed that day as well, I'm at a loss.  Unless... "Ok, maybe I actually registered this purchase at Adobe.com...  But that would be weird as I never do such things in the name of maintaining privacy at every chance I encounter... But, I'll try... yep, 'Forgot your password,' Click... of, 'Follow this link,' Click... Minor rush that it might work... Hope fading fast... Gone!"
    When the only proof of purchase I can present is my promise that I did once purchase, is it possible for me to download these two programs without having to re-purchase?
    I lost a lot of things that day... money, work, memories, la la la.  Apparently I've now lost my dignity as well as I plead with some faceless corporation for a freebie.
    Does anyone at Adobe have a heart?  If so, I would invest my gratitude towards your benefit for the remainder of my years.

    I can click the tabs Music, Movies etc. but I can't see anywhere to access the files themselves, no music or movies are listed, I only have the option to 'Sync' with the iTunes, which I don't want to do as there is no content on the iTunes!!! 
    I just downloaded the iTunes program.
    Very confused, pleaseee help ...

    Here is what worked for me:
      My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.

  • Unable to access ECP on a new Exchange 2013 Install

    I have a standalone exchange 2010 server (setup with all roles) and yesterday went ahead to setup an Exchange 2013 Server. Installed both CAS and mailbox roles for Exchange 2013 but after the install, I am unable to access the Exchange Admin Center. 
    If i try to access to https://EXCHANGE 2013 FQDN\ecp , after inserting my login information, it asks for the login information again and redirects to webmail. I have read all posts of users experiencing similar issues and tried all possible measures. 
    As the 2013 coexists with Exchange 2010 and mailboxes still reside on 2010, I have tried the URL
    https://EXCHANGE 2013 FQDN/ecp?ExchClientVer=15 but got the same result.
    Also, the CAS is installed on the server and i see the ECP virtual directory and URL.

    Still took me to the webmail.
    I also tried creating a user on 2013 mailbox database. gave all permissions. Still no luck.

I use the files on the Local Area Network on my windows computer by typing in the I.P address in the library. Kindly guide me how i can use these files stored over the Local Area Network.

    I disabled GateKeeper's automatic blocking of unrecognised developers, and so I was able to install the driver.
    The Mobile Connect program is now installed, but the computer still does not recognise the modem.
    I also borrowed a USB hub from a friend and it didn't make a difference.

    Hi, Thank you so much for the info.... I really do appreciate it. We had the laptop updated by way of a system upgrade with RAM and an additional SSD drive. Once reconfigured all programs were reinstalled but Iphoto is not among them. Iphoto was on the laptop when purchased so we have no additional discs. Before the laptop was updated we backed the photos up to an extrenal hard drive so we have them, but cant access them. Could I purchase Iphoto 8 stll? Would this work? We would also require an external CD drive as we no longer have the disc drive in the laptop (I think the extra new bits took over). You may have noticed I have very limited knowledge on computers so any help dispite how simple it may sound to some would help me greatly. I just want all my photos back .... Thanks inadvance...   • Unable to Access Resource Error in AE CS6

    Hello,
    I'm running After Effects CS6 11.0 on MAC OSX  and everytime I attempt to apply text, either by creating a new text layer from the drop down menu or dragging open a text box I get
    "Unable to Access Resource    P_TextSmallCaps_Sm_N_D (type png)"
    Is this a png file missing from the program, a fixable bug or what?
    Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Run the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool, reinstall the program. Something is damaged.

  • Unable to access form parameter in servlet

    What could be the possible reasons, If a server side program say a servlet, cannot access the request parameters.
    I mean, i have a form and it uses get method. Now on submitting the form, I can see the query string in url but unable to access the same in servlet.

    The most obvious reason might be that the servlet's
    programmer wrote crappy code.
    Show the code where you try to read the parameters,
    please.Code is simple. To retrieve the form parameter I used the same
    request.getParameter("paramname")
    And in the form method used is get. After submission of form, I can see the form parameter appended to url
    something like this:
    http://localhost/servlets/Test?paramname=somevalue
    But for somereason in servlet i.e at request.getParameter("paramname"), is hanging here.
    I checked the paramname, no spelling mistakes as well :)
    But i am not able to find out the reason why I am not able to get the paramname in servlet.

  • Black SOD after Vista Updates on Satellite A205-S5804

    I have a Satellite A205-S5804 laptop running Vista Home Premium. It ran fine until an automatic update (about a month ago). Then I got the Black Screen Of Death during bootup (somewhere after the Vista starts to load but prior to the user logon). Took it to the Geek Squad who says it isn't hardware related (as my extended warranty only covers hardware). They claimed it is a corrupted OS. I think they are correct about it not being hardware since I can get it to go to Safe Mode. Restore didn't work. I acquired a copy of Vista Home Premium and attempted to run repair but that didn't correct the problem. Next I reloaded it. Everything ran great like it is suppposed to. But the automatic update downloaded and installed the 92 or so Vista updates that it supposedly needs since the Vista disk was produced. Now the problem is back. I can get to Safe Mode, into the BIOS and just about everything else except I cannot get it to boot normally without black-screening before the login to user prompt. I have hooked an external monitor up and when the laptop blacks out the external monitor reports no signal. I suspect there is an issue with a Vista update (which one I do not know). I have already backed up the data I want to save and have that on another computer. Any suggestions other than to reload Vista and not ever acquire any updates? Is there a setting in the BIOS or a "fix" to the Vista update? I tried searching for hours on this issue and have not found a solution. Thanks for any help or suggestions from other Toshiba users.

     Restore didn't work. 
    What does that mean?
    It means that when I selected an earlier restore point (prior to when I suspect the Vista update downloaded and installed) the black screen issue remained. At none of my restore points could I get the issue to go away or resolve itself.
    I tried the Toshiba restore to out of the box, or at least I wanted to, however, following the manual instructions the laptop did not give me that option. I held down the 0 (zero) button and powered it on but it did not go into the Hard Drive Recovery mode. I suspect my model is not one of the ones that came with this option.
    So, after taking the laptop to the Geek Squad originally after the problem appeared and verifying that I don't have a hardware problem and also trying the recommended methods for returning to a stable and fully functional computer, I purchased a legit copy of Vista Home Premium so that I could reload the operating system. Yes, I am realizing how much more difficult Vista is than XP. I have reloaded Vista from scratch. I registered the copy. I have downloaded and installed SP1. I am currently doing SP2. I am basically creating a clean machine with just an OS loaded. Once I am sure that it will function properly (no more blacking out) I will reload my programs and transfer my data back.
    Tedious process...but it seems like my best option. And now that it is in progress there really isn't any point in trying anything else other than uninstalling any update(s) after I reach a stable point that may be causing the screen to black out. If and when I reach that point again I will visit Microsoft to see what assistance I can get for any Windows Updates that I can identify as being troublesome.
    I really appreciate everyone's input and suggestions. I was hopeful that it would be something as simple as an outdated driver or something along those lines. However, as much as I have searched, I have not found anyone who has had the exact same problem and there doesn't seem to be an easy cure. I will keep you posted on my success or failure with the method I have chosen. Thanks again.
