Satellite A205-S6808 corrupted DVD/CD-ROM Driver - Code 39

My driver is corrupted for my CD-ROM/DVD player.
There is absolutely no support for my model on the Toshiba homepage.
I tried to download the drivers for the L series L505 since my tech friend said it should have worked. It did not.
The device shos up, but I get a driver missing/corrupted message from windows.
I am running win 7 32 bit and the DVD player is the same one that came installed when I bought the laptop.
This is the message I get "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware.
The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"
CAN ANYONE HELP??

Hi
Im a little bit confused how you have managed to download the CD/DVD driver for the internal ODD (optical disk drive).
The point is that all Windows operating systems contain own Microsoft ODD driver which controls the CD/DVD drive.
Therefore its not necessary to load/install any drivers for CD/DVD drive.
In my personal opinion its a registry issue.
You should firstly go to the device manager and should remove the CD/DVD drive from the system.
Next step is registry cleaning.
Start regedit and remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values completely from the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
After that reboot the unit
Should work
Greets & Good luck
PS; This is an US notebook model and all drivers can be found on Toshiba US page.

  • Satellite A660 DVD/CD-ROM drive does not detect discs

    Hi there,
I have a Toshiba Satellite A660 with a MAT****A BD-CMB UJ141ES DVD/CD-ROM drive. It is about 18 months old and recently I have noticed that it does not recognise any CDs/DVDs. It makes a couple of noises once inserted but then stops spinning and nothing happens or changes in My Computer view.
Please note there seems to be no apparent problems with the drive:
    - It is present in My Computer
    - The device is working properly in device manager
    Things I have already tried:
    - Run Microsoft FixIt and CD-ROM/DVD Troubleshooter - both said it could not recognise media
    - Deleted upper filter in the registry as per many suggestions (no lower filter present)
    - Updated driver
I don't know what else to do. Please help as this is frustrating for a relatively new notebook which never is moved from my desk (don't expect many damaged parts).
    Cheers

As I said: clean the laser lens
If you open the CD/DVD drive you will see the small laser lens.

  • LightRoom 1.3.1 corrupts DVD/CD-ROM device driver

There is a device driver corruption bug in the new LightRoom 1.3.1, and it is observed if you upgrade from LR 1.3.0. Following a reboot after the updating installation of LR 1.3.1, the device driver for an external USB DVD/CD-ROM device will get corrupted, as noted in the Windows Device Manager. This was not a problem with any of the prior upgrades of LR from 1.0 through 1.3.0.
My environment is Windows XP Professional SP-2 on a Lenovo X60s ultra-light laptop. This laptop does not have a DVD/CD-ROM device built-in because of it size. So, I have an externally powered DVD/CD-ROM player/burner device that plugs into one of the USB ports. As long as I am using LightRoom 1.3.0, everything works fine for whenever I plug-in and access my external USB DVD/CD-ROM drive. I can leave the external device plug-in and reboot, or use the USB dismount of the device and reboot and then plug-in the device, or any combination of these steps and the external device will continue to work.
When I install the LR 1.3.1 upgrade, as long as I don't reboot, I can run LR 1.3.1 and it will work fine and so will the external device. I can dismount the USB DVD/CD-ROM device and then plug it in again and it will still work fine and so will LR 1.3.1, just so long as I do not reboot after installing LR 1.3.1. As soon as I reboot the computer, even if done immediately after only installing LR 1.3.1, and regardless of whether or not the external USB DVD/CD-ROM device is plug-in, after the reboot, the Device Manager will indicate that the device driver for the DVD/CD-ROM device is corrupted.
In order to isolate the cause of my device driver corruption problem, I had utilizing the Windows Restore Point capability. I am able to step back to a very recent Restore Point where LR 1.3.1 had not yet been installed, and I am able to plug in and dismount at any time my external USB DVD/CD-ROM device and always be able to use it without any problems. I can also reboot the computer and the USB DVD/CD-ROM device will continue to work without any problems, whether it was left plugged in or if I hot plug it in after the computer has fully rebooted.
For the record, I used different files and different methods for updating LR from 1.3.0 to 1.3.1. One method was to use the update feature within LR. Other methods used included two different downloaded *.EXE files to do the update without LR open. No matter which method was used to update to LR 1.3.1, the corruption of the device driver was always the same after a reboot.
I also did test installs to be sure that other applications didn't cause the same problem. I can confidently report that I updated four other applications and rebooted and the USB DVD/CD-ROM drive continue to work just fine. One of the updates was the latest Adobe's Flash Player.

Yu may want to review your system to see if you are getting the same error as I did. If not, then just send them the correct information.
Here is exactly what I wrote - you just need to change what CD/DVD drives you have on your system:
'I can not get either of my CD/DVD drives to work. I have tried to uninstall and reboot system for Windows to pick them up. I can not rollback or update the driver as it is not finding the files. They see the drives under Computer Management, but I get this error: "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"
I need to have the inf files and do not have access to the cd you sent as all the drivers are down. Can you resend the inf files for the "CD/DVD 1" & "CD/DVD 2"?'
    Hope this helps - Dan

  • Satellite P105 - DVD/CD ROM drive does not work

The DVD/CD ROM drive on my P105 does not work at all.  I've tried the registry fix for the upper/lower limit thing - didn't fix the problem.  The drive does have power, does spin a disk, but it is not recognized by the system.  It doesn't show up in the device manager at all.  I need to get this working and I'm hoping it doesn't need a new drive as this machine is out of warranty (of course!).  Thanks for any and all suggestions on hot to fix this problem.

Howdy folks. This thread has a lot more views than the one I posted to, but go here to the following message for a possible solution to your CD/DVD Drive issue:

  • Dual Boot on Satellite A205-S6808

I tried dual boot on my Satellite A205-S6808. I have installed W7 and I want boot also with XP Pro.The Lap Top does not accept XP Pro.What can be done????
    Many thanks in advance.
    Lucanio Ramucci

I presume you must load SATA driver before WXP installation starts. Without SATA driver the HDD will not be visible for WXP.
According the notebook specification your notebook has Intel GM965 + Intel ICH8M chipset.
You can try to download this storage manager from http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/stormng-20070827133046.zip
Files from F6flpy > Ich8M_32-bit folder extract to FLOPPY Disc.
When WXP setup starts press F6 and follow the menu on the screen. When necessary load the files using S button.
    I hope this will work.
If you don't have floppy disc to load it you can try to create own WXP installations disc using nLite software.
I hope THIS guideline can help you to do this.
I really hope you will have success with dual boot installation.
At the end I must confirm what Jeka wrote. If possible install WXP at first. When you install it as second OS you will not be able to choose between both installed operating systems. Only using BOOT manager you will be able to choose which OS should start. when you install newer OS as second one you will have small menu shown at start-up where you can choose which OS should be loaded.

  • Cannot install DVD/CD ROM drive after upgrading from Windows 7

I had a working DVD/CD-ROM drive before upgrading. Now it shows as Unknown Device in Device Manager, I tried uninstalling it and then scanned for hardware changes but it still does not work. I also tried manually selecting a CD-ROM drive for it but it
ends up with an error code 31. I also checked for {4d36e965-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318} registry but it did not have lowerfilters key. How do I install the driver for it?

    Hi,
The error code 31 means that Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device.
Considering that this issue mostly can be caused by compatible issue.
Please check if you can fine the latest driver from Manufacturer’s website. If so, try to install it under Windows 10 compatibility mode: Right click the installer of the driver, choose Properties, choose Windows 7 under Compatibility
    mode to install.
If the CD device still fails to work, I recommend to check the setupapi.dev.log under %windir%\inf, locate the device and find the line below:
    dvi:             Rank         - 0x00000000
Then, corresponds the score in this link:
    Identifier Score
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff546297(v=vs.85).aspx
The value 0x00003000 is the best identifier score and the value 0x00003FFF is the worst identifier score.
The score near 0x00003FFF means that the driver and device may not compatible with current system, we may need to wait for the menufacturer’s driver update.
    Thanks for your understanding.

  • Pavillion dv9810us DVD/CD-ROM Drive and Vista Device Manager Question.....HELP!!!!!

I have a Laptop, just over a year old, runs Vista Home Premium SP2. Here is the scenario
Hadn't used the DVD/CD-ROM drive for 3 or 4 weeks at which time it worked fine. Tried to use it a couple of days ago and discovered it wouldn't respond. I figured I needed to maybe rollback the Driver or something. I checked in the Device Manager and saw the main HDD was listed but there was no DVD/CD-ROM drive in the Device Manager List. Does Vista remove the DVD/CD-ROM drive if it's inoperable (DEAD) or has something happened that removed the Device from the List. I've had Drives go South before in Windows 98 and 2000 but they were never removed from the Device Manager List they just didn't work but I know Vista is a OS of a different color so I don't know. Just trying to figure out if I'm fighting a Hardware or Software fight here, I'm at a loss and can't afford to just take it into a shop for diagnosis. Any answers or tip on how to definitly isolate the problem would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance for any Help.

I have the same problem, dvdrw not showing in device manager.  Bought a new TS-L632N dvdrw by TSST and it still does not show in device manager.  This started after I ordered new recovery disk from HO (vista Home Preminum) and reloaded the OS.  I know HP knows about this problem but will not do anything about it.  Online support not good and a 500 dollar repair bill would be a waste when you can buy a new laptopn for that.

  • Driver files needed for the following Sony dvd/cd rom drive: "dvd-rom ddu 1615". windows xp

Driver files needed for the following Sony dvd/cd rom drive:  "dvd-rom  ddu 1615".
The dvd-rom drive will not read any type of dvd or cd.
desktop computer:  Dell Dimension E310 , windows xp, service pack 3.
This Sony dvd rom was installed (by someone else) and replaced the dvd rom that initially came with the Dell E310.
Where can I find driver files for this dvd rom?
    Thanks,
    Denise

    Hello Denise,
    Welcome to the Sony Community.
All of the Sony internal optical drives are plug & play with Windows so no drivers are required for detection in your PC. If you are having issues getting your drive detected then please try the following:
    • Ensure the Sony drive is set as a secondary master by itself. If you have another disc burner or a zip drive on the same IDE cable, please separate them.
    • Ensure you have the latest Service pack for your Windows operating system and any other updates for your system installed.
    service, storage support email
    • Please remove your secondary IDE channel from the Device Manager.
If the issue is still not resolved, service may be required. You may contact the Sony Storage support team by e-mail at: [email protected] for further information.
    Thank you for your post.

  • Dvd/ cd-rom driver disabled !!!

I have gone thru all of apple's recommendations multiple times, and I still cant get this problem to go away. Please help!!!

There should be a category that says "DVD/CD-ROM drives" in Device Manager.
Are you sure both the sata and power cables are connected to the disc drive inside the pc case?
    Try the link below.
Unuinstall driver (skip this part if u dont have it), remove filters, then restart pc.

You can also check in the BIOS (F10) at pc startup and unde the Main menu it lists your disc drive and hard drive.

  • DVD\CD ROM driver problems

Windows 7 64-bit. I got a HP DVD A DH16AAL SCSI CdRom, and is saying a driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality (code 32), how do i fix this

    Hi,
With the optical drive connected, open windows Conyrol Panel, open Device Manager, open DVD/CD - ROM drives, right click on the DH16AAL and select Uninstall.  When this process has completed, restart the PC and let Windows re-discover the Hardware and hopefully reload the driver.

When I start computer the dvd/cd-rom drive is seen and works under  my computer (listed under other) but after an couple of minutes the drive has an red x and is listed as cd drive. There are times when it doesn't show up period. When I go under device manager I see and yellow exclamation mark. I cannot roll back (icon doesnt allow) and when I try to update it says that this version is the most update version. I have never personally tried to update this driver since I bought the computer it seems as if overnight there is a problem.
When I go to device manager and go to properties the message that appears is:  Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38)

    RAM 3.00 g.b.,
    Windows 7 64bit operating system.
I have tried to use the troubleshooting tool but it doesn't work.
Could someone give me step by step instructions on how to fix my computer.
    Thankyou in advance.

When you go to device manager for the device right click the drive and click Uninstall,AFTER and only after you do that download the correct driver from Lenovo's website and then install it.  It is generally best to totally uninstall old drivers before attempting updating to a new/different one as it can create issues like this.  Let me know if this worked for you.

  • Problems with my DVD/CD-ROM Drive (MS-8216)

I have a BIGGGG problem with my DVD/CD-ROM Drive (MS-8216)
I was copying somethin in my comp, and the cd got BOOOM into pieces inside.
My warranty expired 1 month ago, so i clean it in the inside. After this it is like this :
       - i can watch 700mb movies AVI format with no problems, but when i want to copy anything in my comp from the cd it always stops rotating at 6% of copiyng and BANG it stops and an error has acourde. Same with the dvd's. Please don't ask me about my comp config couse i know it has no problem with that. I left every thing like it was inside ---  impecable, no wiress unplugged and i've upgraded the firmware also
What can it be. Thank you

if you can read the CD, but not copy from it, try this program:
    Isobuster
It allows you to read with a much better accuracy than the generic windows driver.
However, i'm afraid your drive has been damaged in the explosion and this is only a work around, not a real solution.
The good point is that DVD burner are now cheap, but it is not much...

  • Satellite M40X-184's DVD/CD-RW drive unable to read CDs

I have a three month old Satellite M40X-184 with Mat****a UJDA760 DVD/CD-RW drive. Last few days the optical drive is unable to read any type of CDs. But it can read DVDs. Can somebody please tell me what's wrong with it? Is the drive broken? Is it necessary to replace the DVD/CD-RW with a new drive? Thanks.

    Hi
It is not easy to say if the drive is defective but you should anyway contact your local dealer. The warranty is valid and if there is some technical problem the drive will be replaced.
I dont know if this can help but you can try to remove the drive from device manager and restart the unit. The drive will be recognized and installed properly. If there is the problem with original music CDs you should really contact the local dealer.
Before the unit will be checked I believe that the best way to check it properly is to preinstall the unit with recovery media. The same thing will be done by technicians before hardware replacement. If you want you can do it too.

  • Satellite M30X: DVD/CD rom drive does not work

    Hi,
Hope someone can help. The above drive will not now recognise any inserted media. It whirrs for a while then stops. I have cleaned the lens and also run through the support and diagnostic tests and they cannot help me any further.
I have also reinstalled the driver but no joy.
Does this mean a new DVD/cd drive is required?
Is it removable from the laptop and easily replaced?
Where would i get the part - M****a DVD ROM UJ- 82OS ?
    How much would this cost?
Thanks to all for any suggestions???
    Jim

    Hi,
I had the same problem as you and I had to send mine for repair and they replaced it for me. My drive, same model as yours would not burn DVD's.
    Installing is quite easy:
I HOLD NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE DONE
    1. Turn the unit up-side down
    2. Remove every screw except the one securing the Hard-Drive, Memory Module and the one under the battery.
    3. Now get a Pin or a Straightened out Paper-Clip and push the Pin/Paper-Clip into the small hole of the DVD-Driveand slowly pull the drive out.
    4. Nearly there, Now you need to put your new DVD-Drive upside down because you have the unit is upside down as well.
    5. Once you have done that, you need to put all the screws back in place.
    6. DONE!
    Hope this helps
