Satellite A210-13f - Which laptop cooler pad do you recommend?

Hi everyone,
Ive had a Satellite A210-13f notebook for a year. \
Right now Im looking for a cooler for it.
Ive noticed my laptop has a fan underneath and Im wondering if all laptop coolers (thermal take, cooling master...) are appropriate for it.
Also i would like one which you can settle on your lap and as silent as possible.
Thx very much!!!

Ive got a A210 with AMD CPU and it doesnt overheat.
Of course I notice a warm air from a notebook side after a long time of usage but this is nothing unusual.
Very important is that you would use the notebook on the table.
Furthermore there should be enough free space around the notebook to ensure a properly air circulation and the cooling grilles should be free!!
From time to time I clean my ventilators using a compressed air spray. This helps to get rid of dust and debris.
Follow these guidelines and your notebook shouldnt overheat.

  • Sattelite A500-ST6647; Need a Laptop cooler pad

The Zalman series seem to have the best user reviews, but the fan holes on these models stop about 3/4 of the way up the pad. The computer I ordered (not yet received) has at least one vent near the computer battery cell that may not benefit from this cooling pad.
My computer will have a 12 cell battery, which will raise the computer at the back, and I assume, provide extra air circulation that a computer with a flush battery would not, so I may not even need a cooler.
If anyone can recommend a laptop cooler that is well made and fits the vent schematic at the bottom of this computer I would appreciate the advice.
    Thanks, waxx

    Good advice from all ...
There are a couple of reasons to use a cooler pad. The first is that you are using a laptop on your lap and the built in fan air intake is on the bottom of the machine so that your leg blocks it - either a cooler or a simple tray will fix this problem. The second is that you have an older laptop and the laptop's heatsink is full of dust bunnies - a cooler will help but a little maintenance would work a lot better..

  • Satellite A210-ICO - Which HDD can I use?

I'm getting bad sectors on my laptop's hard drive so I guess I should fork out for a new one - but which are suitable for A210-1CO?
    ta, M

    Hi
The Satellite A210 uses SATA HDDs and you need a new HDD with SATA interface. You can buy every HDD that you want, for example 160 or 320GB. On SATA interface there are no capacity limits.
Furthermore the most SATA HDDs have already SATA2 interface but its downgrade compatible to SATA1.
I would prefer a HDD with 5400rpm. Of course you can buy a HDD with 7200rpm but they produces more heat and noise. For the most applications are 5400rpm enough.
I have good experience with Hitachi and Seagate HDDs.
    Bye

  • Has anyone tried a 3rd party laptop cooling pad?

I have had my macbookpro 2.16 for about 2 1/2 weeks now, temp averages at about 40c during what i normally do, but the base of it is still too hot to comfortablly use on my lap. I have been using a large book as a buffer for the heat, recently I saw some 3rd party cooling pads with fans in them, running of USB power, has anyone tried one?

I use Vantec Lapcool 4. It folds and quite small for transporting (fits nicely into my bag). It uses 2 fans powered either by USB or by AC. Also adds 4 USB ports.
It makes about 10C defference. Since it keeps the case cooler and MBP doesn't build up heat like it used to, so works quite well.
The only con I've found is that the MBP slips a bit on the pad so I bought a package of small, clear, self-adhiesive, non-slip rubber cushions to put on the bottom of the lappad (~$2@Home Depot). Now MBP sits securely without any slippage.

  • Which of these solutions would you recommend?

while trying to create a login system using JSP, I ran into several tutorials, and tried creating one by using java beans to keep track of the session.
The bean stores the username by using setUserID(String userID), and also sets a certain variable to true if the user is logged in.
To create different levels or types of users, and add more functionality to this login system, I believe I could add more properties to determine the level and other necessary information (with information taken from a database), and simply use a beanid.getProperty() to check for the information I need for example.
I know that another way and the more common way to create a login system while securing other pages on the website, is to use session tracking and the session variable to set different values, etc... and keep track of the user.
Now my question is, which one of these 2 solutions would you recommend? Which one do you believe to be more secure?
    Thanks.

Arent both essentially the same? In the first, you set all properties in a single bean object and bind that object to the session. In the second, you bind each property individually to the session. So there is nothing to choose 'security' wise between the two options. Security, I believe, has nothing to do with how you track the user's session. Usage of SSL for example is a security technique.
Having said that, if we confine your question to which is a better option for session management per se, I would favour the first (a single bean). I am not a great fan of a bloated session object though. You can always query necessary info from the db using this id rather than storing it in the session.
Note you neednt set a variable to indicate that the user has logged in. The presence of the UserBean is sufficient to indicate the logged in status (assuming that you create such a bean only on successful login).
Hope this is useful to you.

  • Which jre & tomcat version do you recommend for this hardware setup?

I have to install a SINGLE JSP application onto an Intel pentium3 windows XP box with 128Mb of RAM clocked at 733Mhz
    1. Is this setup sufficient for running tomcat?
    2. Which version of tomcat and which JRE do you recommend for this setup?
    3. Would I get better performance running Jetty, and if so which version?

The issue of changing native folder hierarchy and/or naming conventions has little to do with solid state media and everything to do with the container and header data that links the audio/video streams with the metadata and thus allows the content or "media essence" to be properly decoded and played.  This is the very reason to use a tool like Prelude or Premiere's Media Browser or even Bridge or Lightroom or a third party logging tool like metafuze or shotputpro, or dedicated camera format software such as sony xdcam clipbrowser or panasonic p2 browser, redcine x, ect, as these tools all are designed to parse the captured A/V data and make properly syntaxed edits to the metadata either embedded directly into the media container or in Prelude and Premiere's case can also be written back to a sidecar or associated XMP file, which is a flavor of XML that contains all the original captured metadata plus any changes and/or additions made via these tools.
The dangers come into play when changes to the native file naming convention or folder hierarchy are done directly to the media content via finder on mac or explorer on windows, as changing at that level can break the relationship between the metadata stream and the media essence since the changes are not being written to the metadata or content headers or being handled in a manner referred to as transmuxing..
Prelude & Premiere's Media Browser both allow for looking into the native files non-destructively and safely modifying either the metadata linked to the native media or also allows for a transcode to be done which will then copy or recreate a new media file in whatever format selected along with a new metadata stream.
Prelude is a nice utility and Premiere's Media Browser an amazing tool for organizing, modifying and selectively ingesting media and or making quick selects and assemblies.

  • Which of these cases would you recommend????

    for my N95...
either Nokia's own Cp-191 (i've heard a couple of reports that it's slightly too short top and bottom?? and it doesn't have a hole for the earphones jack!! tut)
OORR proporta's two, one of them flips up, the other to the side like the nokia case...

They also do a clear plastic clip-on thingamybob but i'm not sure about that, it's a bit, well, plastic! (i'm such a snob!)
    What do ye all think?

the point of it for me is taht you can keep it in the leather case all the time, don't have to take it out, i don't mind opening the flap to take a picture. the phone will have to spend a lot of time in my bag as it's v chunky in my front jeans pocket so i'd need something with max protection. was on proporta's website earlier, they're currently re-designing the Crystal plastic cover, so maybe the new one might not be so breakable!
And you can make and receive calls with the case closed too? Don't get me wrong, I went on the waiting list at my local NSC for this case and I think it looks very smart. Also, it looks cool when I get my phone out in meetings as it looks way smarter than colleagues with PPC's and Windows mobiles in similar (but biger) cases.

  • Which TV recording cards do you recommend??

I guess the title says it all.
Im looking to buy a TV card and use the Mega 180 as a VCR....but since nothing is easy with the MEGAS i just wanted to know from peoples experience which one work and are pretty easy to install and setup??
    cheers

    Standard MEGA 180
    AthlonXP 2800+ Barton
    BIOS out of the box
    Geil 1 x 512MB DDR PC3200 400MHz (running at 333)
    MSI X52P combo drive
    Master - Samsung 5400rpm 1600GB (XP SP2)

I would always go for a card which has a hardware encoder onboard.
    Hauppauge PVR cards are great.
Very good support for all software.
And there is a new version called the PVR150mce and you can buy this one for approx. 70 euro.
Thats a great card at a great price with best performance possible.
Never problems with out of sync audio or dropped frames.
And your CPU stays untouched wich is nice in a HTPC environment.

  • Which version of iTunes do you recommend?

I recently upgraded to 7.5 after a long time of not upgrading, but when it started working like crap and becoming staticky, I uninstalled itunes and went to 6.05. However, 6.05 is a little old for me and I'd prefer a newer version that doesn't conk out all the time from bugs. Does anyone have a recommendation? I can't remember which version I had before upgrading to 7.5 since I waited so long. It was a newer version, I think, probably in the 7's.

7.2 is the most recent version that wasn't really buggy. It also was the last version that put numbers and symbols aphabetically before "A" and didn't ignore the A word at the beginning of a band name (Now A Perfect Circle, for example, is showing up in "P").

Antivirus software is not really necessary on a Mac, however if you receive many emails and forward them to PC users it may help them. I don't use any AV SW on my Macs. If you want to use one to detect a virus on emails, get the freeware antivirus application for Macs - ClamXav @ http://www.clamxav.com/ .

  • Which tools or tutorials do you recommend for this?

    Hi.
    Complete novice & on CS5.
    Dangerous combination!
I need to add some 20% extra sky on top of an image to balance the shot.
Nothing in the sky as such but different tonal range as you go noth as it should get darker, but I am having problems blending the copied sky above and in some way blending it well.
I had considered a grad filter, though, again, I'd need to watch a tutorial 1st!
    I did say I was a novice.
I copied the sky up by adding 20% move canvass, clicking on the area which became a boxed in with marching ants with the Magic Wand thingy and copying the sky via the Clone Stamp tool.
It did not look right at all.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

OK Pat.  We'll do it in easy stages.
select the Lasso tool and draw round the oblesque.  (Hold down the Alt key while clicking on each corner in turn)
Ctrl J will make a copy of the oblesque on a new layer.
Hold down the Ctrl key while you click on 'make a new layer' at the bottom of the layers palette.  (this should place that layer between the background, and copy of the oblesque layers.
Select the background layer, and the paint brush (b)
Alt click on the sky near the bottom of the image (close to the horizon.
swap fore ground background colour (x) and Alt click on the sky at the top of the image.
Your foreground and background colours should respectively match the sky at its lightest and darkest tones.
Select the Gradient tool (behind the Paint bucket) and select the empty layer between the background and copied oblisque layers.
Click somewhere near the top of the image, and hold down the Shift key while clicking again near the horizon.  (If the gradient is the wrong way round, undo (Ctrl z) and do it again but start at the bottom this time.)
With the gradient layer still sellected, click on Add Layer mask icon at the bottom of the layers palette.
Paint with black in the layer mask to hide the gradient where it covers the forground.  Do this with a large soft brush so you get a nice feathered interface where your gradient intersects with the background layer.
I hope this is OK.  A few of those steps could be improved upon, but I tried to make it as straight forward as possible.

  • Which iPhone 6 case would you recommend between an ElementCase or a Spigen?

I just got an iPhone 6 and love the look and feel of a strong, but slim tactical/aluminum case for my phone. I have narrowed it down to the ElementCase Sector Pro or Spigen Tough Armor Case. Any help on which would be better would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!

I've been asking this same question and can't find a good answer. Have you gotten any responses?
    Thanks,

  • MacBook Pro - Which internal hard drive do you recommend?

I have a mid 2010 13-inch Macbook Pro. I currently have a 250 GB internal hard drive, and with bootcamp and all, I find myself constantly running out of space. I want to upgrade my internal hard drive to 750 GB or 1TB, but I would like the new hard drive to be at the same speed or faster than my stock hard drive.
Could you please recommend me some reliable hard drives? My price range is $0-250. Thank you!
