Satellite A210-14S graphic issue - 2 vertical and symetrical lines

Hello,
I have bought a Satellite A210-14S ATI HD2600 1 week ago, which from performance point of view really convinces me.
Unfortunately, during this time, it happened twice, that *suddenly* colors got grainy and with increased contrast, including 2 symetrical and vertical lines of same width (about 3cm).
Those lines also showed the background, but with a different color.
Besides, on horizontal view, some spots started to blink.
The 2 times this happened, the error seemed to have same characteristics.
In both cases, after a reboot, this symptoms dissapeared.

Now the important question: is it a hardware fault (GPU, RAM or even TFT) or might it be a driver issue? (I use the dedicated Toshiba Ati driver)
Would be important to know in a timely period, due to the option of money back I have in Germany (14 days)

first of all, thanks for replying, appreciated.
I also had/have the fear of a defective G-card, but also supected or hoped it might be a overheating of the system or similar, though i haven't seen any similar cases with those symptoms after a google research . Now I have this notebook for 3 weeks and it only remained these 2 cases where it appeared.
I will try to connect the PC to my external tft when it happens again, I had heard of this procedure, though it will only show me if the internal TFT is kind of damaged.
I think I have to contact the Toshiba service point if G-card is faulty.

Satellite A210-14S - Why do I get Bluescreen error often?

I own a Toshiba A210-14S for about 3 weeks, and got 6 bluescreens by now!
Two times, it happend as I transfered data from an external HDD to the Notebook's HDD.
One time after installing ICQ from my external HDD.
And three other times, it appeared without doing anything special, I was just using Word, Opera and downloaded a few files (my external HDD was not connected!).
I took a picture of the Bluescreen, why do I get this one so often, and what can I do against ist?

Generally its not easy to say why the BSOD appears. Mostly the serious software or hardware problem could cause such BSOD error message.
I have investigated a little bit and searched for the gHidPnp.sys details.
It seems this is a USB Device Enhanced Function driver and can be found in
C:\ WINDOWS\ system32\ drivers\ghidpnp.sys and in the registry under this key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ gHidPnp
Its interesting to know if you have installed any drivers for your external HDD.
Maybe there are some software conflicts.
However, I would recommend updating the Windows to the latest state and to refresh the USB drivers.
You could remove the USB ports from the device manager and after new reboot the OS should install it again.

Graphics issue with Jdev and Ubuntu Maverick

Hi,
I just upgraded one machine Dell Optiplex 755 to Ubuntu Maverick 10.10 with Java 1.6.0.23 and Oracle JDeveloper 11g 11.1.1.3.0. Since then, my Jdev is not working properly from a graphic point of view. When you start it , it doesn't show all the icons in the console. You have to pass the mouse over them to be shown, and as soon as you minimize/maximize the window, those are hidden again. It's like Java or Jdev are not sending the correct commands to repaint the screen.
I don't have any similar graphic issue with any other application like openOffice or Oracle SQL datamodeler. But I do have the same issue with the Oracle SQL developer application, the icons are not shown unless you pass the mouse over them and they disappear if you minimize/maximize the window. Jdev and SQL Developer have a similar interface so I think is related with Java and these specific interfaces.
The drivers of the graphic card, ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT, are up to date and I already tried with different tweakings in the graphical properties.
Does any of you have any suggestion/solution?
This didn't happen with an Ubuntu 9.10 and old versions of java and Jdev installed in the same machine.

A. By Using the Motherboard Jumper:
In most motherboards CMOS battery is soldered, which makes it difficult to remove the battery. In this case we use another method.
Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don't have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.
When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.
Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper.
B. By Using Software:

Graphics Issue with Dock and Quickview

After using my computer for sometime (more than 2 hours), the graphics on both Coverflow and the Dock start to degrade. On the dock, my stacks will almost disappear- leaving only a few stray pixels where my fan of files should appear. On the dock itself, horizontal bars will be missing from some icons... In Coverflow, these same horizontal bars will appear as well. If I do a restart- everything goes back to normal.
All of my software is up to date- and the computer is only a few weeks old (has been doing it since day one). Does anyone know if this is a hardware issue?

could have something to do with how you are sharing your desktop b/t the laptop and the monitor... try resetting your monitor to "clone" or resetting your home screen to the laptop BEFORE unplugging the external monitor--

Satellite A210 - Can't install common module and display driver

Just downgraded to XP, downloaded drivers from toshiba and the installation ended with an error message saying no driver found for my hardware. Happened with Common Module and ATI Display Driver.
I mean, I need em both!

I checked the Toshiba European driver page and it seems that the XP drivers have not been released for this A210 series!
I think you have simply tired to install not compatible Common Modules on this notebook.
Thats a reason why you cannot install it.
Regarding the display driver;
Try to install the drivers for notebook models:
Equium A210 PSAEJE
Equium A300D PSAK2E
Equium L350D PSLE2E
Satellite P200 PSPBLE
Satellite L350D PSLE0E
Satrellite L300D PSLC0E
I think one of the drivers released for these series shoudl run.

How to install Windows XP in Satellite A210-14s - Need step by step info

I'm not an expert about OS-Installation. I have heard from many people how complicated to install WXP in Vista Notebook. Is there any document, how to do it step by step? What should I do first? My labtop will work 100% after I install WXP? What I have ist an installation CD of WXP with SP2.

well if you want replace your vista i recomend not to do it if you not pretty good and comfortable with os instaling because winxp installation is nothing hard the crazy hard part is setup all the hardware to work properly ...
i have A210-16f (can be purchased only in czech or slovak republic.) and i install the winxp a month ago and i still have problems FN keys still not working , touch pad is working onli halfway ( meaning it only points and move the cursor but all the other funcions of it still in dark)

Graphic Issue - No Aero and others

T510 with Switchable Graphics (umm yeah)
Win7 - 64 Bit
System only 2 days old
ALL drivers and WinUpd are latest and greatest.
Yes I have removed and reinstalled the drivers several times.
I can't get any transparencies/Aero to work, No matter what Theme I use.
On the theme selection screen (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Personalization) at the bottome is "Troubleshoot Probs with Transp and Aero".. so I select that and it runs a test. It comes back and tells me "Desktop Window Manager is Disabled". The problem is... it's not. I have recycled the service and I'm watching it "running"... yet I still get told this same thing.
I am at a loss of what to try/check. I called Lonovo support but after being on hold for 10 minutes, the call dropped.

It was a little harder.......
I start setup.exe chose language and click next. It crashed.
BUT when I clicked on the find and resolve problem, it found something,( Earlier it found nothing) so i clicked at it.

Herringbone lines, and vertical and horizontal lines on display which dims

I have an iMac G5 purchased in 2005, six months later under the extension program for the video and power issues, Apple installed a new motherboard and a new power pack. Up to now, everything has been okay.
This morning I turned on my computer and saw the same herringbone lines, vertical lines, horizontal lines on the display which went from dark to light in color. I waited for a while, and a message said to restart my computer which I did.
Because of the previous problems, I am wondering if the motherboard or power pack is going out again. After the start up, my computer was okay for the rest of the day. I took some photos and a video of it to show what is happening to the display, any suggestions.

Thanks Scott for the quick reply. Knowing what happened five years ago with the display, I figured that this was the same issue. It is just a matter of time. I quickly backed up my system to another hard drive and wanted to confirm in the discussion group that my G5 was on it's last gasp.
Since I would be lost without my computer, I just put in an order for the new iMac 27" quad core i5 computer. Now I will have to make monthly payments again, but I think that I will have a much faster, and better computer especially with the Intel processor.
Thanks for your reply, and I hope that my new computer will last longer than five years. My track record was five years for my lime green iMac G3, and now five years for my iMac G5.

Reporting Service issues without service and land line access?

Since Verizon makes it extremely difficult to report poor coverage, I figured I would just place this information online in hopes of an agent reading and reporting the problem.
There is little to no Verizon coverage of all types (4g3g/1x) over pretty much the entire campus of the Illinois College in Jacksonville Illinois which is about 2 miles off I72 and about 20 miles west of Springfield Illinois. Actually the entire community has poor service from Verizon yet US Cellular and AT&T seem to rock the area with full 4G. From talking to students and faculty this is a long known problem and in many spots there is absolutely zero voice coverage, forget about data from Verizon. We have *228’d the phone many times out by I72 and my dad and mom’s Android 3g/4g smart phones phones do not work at all either.
It seems that this is known by Verizon, as I have seen coverage problem reports on the web dating back to 2008 regarding this area in the Verizon forums. Certainly Verizon can do something to remedy this, especially being so close to a major Interstate and when other carriers have great service in the same area, come on AT& T is horrible across 70% of Illinois yet they work in Jacksonville, now that is embarrassing. It would be nice to actually be able to let my daughter use her phone even forgetting about data but come “cover 97% of the people” I know that is not true. Let's go Verizon, my friends on AT&T and US Cellular and Sprint all get better service (they can make calls, at least)... on Verizon we can't do anything even with roaming enabled!
This forum says call customer service 1-800-922-0204 from landline or *611 but that doesn't work for my daughter and I'm in mexico this week. There has got to be an online way to report issues?

Would love too, but family has Verizon in several states including other college towns Tempe AZ, Macomb Illinois, Jacksonville Illinois and home in Rockford IL we have used Verizon for years.
If daughter changes companies just for Jacksonville Ill, do we all change?
Remember AT&T has horrible coverage in most of illinois yet they rock in a dinky little college town in south central Illinois, go figure. Verizon says they cover 97% of the nation and their maps are quite clear about the areas they cover including extended coverage. Verizon is misleading people as although extended does mean covered by someone else it does be coverage is supposed to exist. Verizon can not have it both ways and frankly, family cannot have a bunch of different plans and I really want to avoid switching everyone. When I get back in the US I'll call the 800 number and see what can be done for daughter but Verizon should have chat support not just chat sales so stuff can be done online.e would think Verizon would want to know where people have coverage issues..

Have you tried using cursors? Right click on the chart and show the cursor legend. Then right click the legend and add a cursor.

Dropped my iPhone 4 and now There are strange vertical and horizontal line plus red/orange background. What is the problem and how do I fix it ?

I think that there is a problem with your lcd screen which can only be fixed by replacing the whole lcd assembly. You should definitely take your phone to an apple store and have them fix it. Please dont attempt to replace the lcd screen by yourself because you can and will do more damage to your phone. Take it to an apple store and they will fix it for you.

Graphical s card runs and heats up while watching videos

My laptop was running properly...but for the past few days,theres an issue with the graphics card...graphic card runs by utself even while watching videos both online and offline..thus the laptop gets heated up even while watching videos..i dont know if anyne in my house changed the settings...but wat should i do to get it back to normal..thank u in advance .. :-)

I grasp that while watching videos online or off line the notebook heats up.
If you are using the display for any reason you are using the graphical card to display the image.

If you thing that it may be that a setting was changed, you can do a restore back to before the issue arose.

ITunes graphical issues

It's only been publicly available since mid-Nov -- were you in the beta? I think 4-5 months would be a record.
My guess is that it's getting stuck somewhere. First, I'd verify that you're on the latest iTunes version. Then, when it runs, check what step you are at, as I'm guessing that either you're stuck at either one file being checked or perhaps it's just taking a REALLY long time to upload whatever you have. Technically if you have a very slow upload speed and if you are unfortunate enough to have tens of thousands of files being uploaded, it wouldn't surprise me if it could take a month or longer, at least. What's your upload speed?
