However my experience is not fun so far, I have problems at starting up the laptop, after the desktop loads the icons on the icons tray takes so long to load , when this happen I cant do anything like opening the start menu or so , its like Lagging the laptop for a long time that I give up and press and hold the power button the shut the laptop down... I got this problem 3 times in January and 4 times on this month! I checked the Event viewer from the windows control panel , I found the critical error that says the following :
================================================== ==================================
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

one more thing , my laptop often gets BSoD after waking up from the sleep mode ... and it restart automatically so I cant gather much information .. but the solution center of windows said something regarding the ATI driver ... but I have the driver from toshiba website , dunno if there is a way to correct this problem as well .
looking froward for ur help ..
thanks ..

I have very good experiences with Satellite A300 and Win7 installation. No problems at all.
As I can see on Toshiba download page your notebook model is fully supported for Win7 and all you must do is to install all Toshiba stuff in right installations order.
My installations order is:
-Win7 Home Premium (clean installation)
-chipset driver
-storage manager
-display driver
-sound driver
-modem driver
-supervisor utility
-infrared
-patches
-configfree
-VAP
-toshiba hardware setup
-HDMI control
-WLAN driver
Everything works well but missing some drivers
Added Vista stuff:
-Toshiba assist - work properly
-Card reader - installed properly
-Webcam driver for A500 - tested with Skype - work properly.
-Synaptics driver
I really don't know what you are doing wrong. Maybe some background processes block regular start-up.
I recommend you to try again and make it easy step-by-step following my list and let me know on which stage you will be faced with described issue.

I just tried to search on this form for a sollution but i couldn`t find it.
All the rest of the buttons (play/pause, stop, next, previews) are working just fine.
As far as i remember 2 days ago all my multimedia buttons worked perfectly.
In this time i didn`t reinstalled OS or any other drivers.

  • Does Satellite A300-1G5 read SDHC Class 6/4 cards?

Does Satelitte A300-1G5 support SDHC Class 6/4 memory cards?
I've tried to search this over the internet and in the Users's Manual and it specifies SD cards but no SDHC.
Also, I've read other Satelitte A300 answers on SDHC saying that it can be read.
Will my model read it too?

    Hi dude
The Satellite A300-1G5 series supports the cards from type:
    - SD Card - 8MB-2GB
    - SDHC Card - 4GB-16GB
    - xD picture card - 16MB-2GB
    - Memory Stick - 8MB-256MB
    - Memory Stick Pro - 256MB-2GB
    - MultiMediaCard - 8MB-2GB
    - miniSD (with adapter) - 32MB-2GB
    - microSD (with adapter) - 512MB-4GB
    - Memory Stick Pro Duo(with adapter) - 256MB-4GB
As you can see there is no limitation in SDHC card type but in the card size.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Satellite A300-1G5 - Can I change HDD place?

    Hi everyone;
I have this laptop : [Toshiba Satallite A300 - 1G5|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=EU&com.broadvis ion.session.new=Yes&PRODUCT_ID=1055589] . it has the standard specification no upgrades.
I was thinking if it possible to move the HDD from its place (which on the left side of the laptop) to the right side of the laptop, since my model can have 2 separate HDD. This idea came to my mind because of the fact that the CPU ( cooling module ) is actually is on the left side as well as HDD. As everybody knows , CPU generate the most heat of the laptop, so I was thinking I can reduce heat by moving the HDD to right side (where its only contain the DVD drive). A matter of fact, the left side of the laptop is always hotter than the right side.
So, is there any body agree on that? Will the HDD fit on the right side ? If so, can u people help me on how I can move the HDD to the right side?
    thanks in advance ..

    Hi
Theoretically you can exchange the HDD and you can put in into the second HDD slot. It makes no difference if the computer boots from SATA1 port or SATA2 port.
But the interesting thing is that my girlfriend has Satellite A300 too but with 2 HDDs. Now I have looked into both HDD slots and the point is that the HDD chassis to fix it in the notebook (silver chassis) are different. That means you need the HDD chassis for the second slot.
You can get if from an authorized service provider.
Furthermore if your notebook is getting hot you should clean it. I do it every 3 months and always Im wondering how much dust come out.
I hope I could help you a little bit.

  • Satellite A300-1G5: webcam stopped working - Webcam driver open fail

    Hi
    my laptop specifcation here : ( [A300 - 1G5|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=EU&com.broadvis ion.session.new=Yes&PRODUCT_ID=1055589] ) for any needed details ..
The problem simply is, the webcam stopped working for some reason, an error messeage says "Webcam driver open fail. Please restart camera or computer".
I noticed that whenever I put the computer in sleep mode I was getting on the icon tray a notification says "USB device unrecognized"... I wasnt aware what it was - thought it becasue of the USB mouse being plugged... but I think its related to the camera...
software is installed but camera is not working and cant enable it .. I did download the latest driver from toshiba site , but still not working ...
Currently my laptop runs Vista HP SP2 32-bit, Windows defender enabled, Windows Firewall Enabled, Windows UAC enabled, Kaspersky Ani-Virus 2009 Enabled. I only use Windows Live Messenger (which up to date I think , version : 14.0.8089.726) which i used camera with, I quite using face recognition long time ago and rarely use the webcam ... I didnt install or update any drivers and used to have the laptop running perfectly..
    So what happened now ?!

    Hi
I have had a similar error message and could solve this by disabling the webcam software from startup.
In msconfig -> Start Up tab I have unchecked the Chicony webcam software.
This prevents it from automatic loading.
I dont use MSN but Skype and the Chicony webcam software is always disabled (not executed) if Skype is running.
Maybe you should try this too.
    Furthermore you could try this:
Go to device manager, mark the webcam (imaging devices USB video device) and deleted it from the device list.
Then reboot the notebook and wait until the webcam has been recognized again.
    Then test it.

  • My Satellite A300 keeps freezing every 5-10 mintues

    Hey guys,
I bought a Satellite A300 a little less than two years ago, and two days ago it started freezing every 5-10 minutes.  When it freezes, ctrl+alt+del does not do anything.  I have to shut down the computer by holding down the power button.  I managed to run a scan with AVG and there are no viruses on my computer.  Occasionally when I boot up my computer a Disk Check runs.  I'm not sure what to do, any help would be appriciated!
    Thanks!

Hangs do not point to hardware.
    1. Try to identify a situation or pattern that exists at the time.
    2. If you only need to wait five minutes, we could try some experiments. What happens, for instance, when you boot into Safe Mode (the first option on the menu)?

    3. If you can manage to capture the computer-clock time of a hang, we could try to look it up in Event Viewer.

  • Satellite A300 - windows freezes

    Dear forum users,
I am having 1 Satellite A300 laptop with vista on.
recently o observed, if i right click on any icon on the desktop, the system freeze to respond and the circle of vista keep on spinning.
if i pressed again and again, the dialogue box "programme stopped working, close/restart/wait option" is appearing.
after restart, all windows sidebar's gadget, yahoo messenger icons are appearing in the taskbar down ( which normally does not appear in task bar)and they are again not responding to close/ minimize/maximize anything from the taskbar.
    can anybody diagnosis the disease?

this also i have done , but in vain.
additionally, from yesterday, i am not getting wirless network detected by my laptop.
wirless button is switched on. my mobile which is kept just beside laptop, getting connected with my wireless router, but laptop is telling "no wireless detected"
i tried to format and re installed OS, but the system colud not format because the recovery folder stored in hard disk has something missing.
recovery folder normally contains image file, how a single file can be missed from image file is also a mistery.
now do i have any other option left apart from using recovery disc?
using recovery disc will lead me a severe problem because i have created 2 other partition and saved alot of work on those partition, and recovery disc is going to remove the total (my created) partition and will bring the only partition given by manufacturer.

  • Satellite L750 - Win7 freeze on startup screen frequently

Hi, my L750 has been having this freeze on startup issue frequently in the pass few days (almost 2 out of 3 times), it just stopped loading just before the windows logo would show up. at first it would continue running after I moved the mouse or hit a key, but today these tricks wouldn't work.
I have to press the power button to force restart it, and it show a window repair option, which I chosen, then it freeze after the process bar disappear (hence, blank screen and nothing, no harddisk or processor light), force restart again and it boot up ok this time.
Any idea what could be the issue here?

finally have a chance to restart my laptop..
so I ran a checkdisk which claimed I have 2 bad file and 60 reprase file (which I have no idea what that is), and I also put the battery pack back (have to remove it so it wont be too hot when I'm rendering graphic etc.). *and the laptop seems start up ok for the last few times..*

  • Satellite A300-1G5: Recovery Disk Creator doesnt work anymore

I have created my recovery disk after buying new Toshiba A300-1G5 model laptop. That recovery disk is damaged now.
I have tried to make 2nd set of recovery disk, but the application is not working.
error message comming "---- orisetenv/setenv.ini file missing.
Please anybody help how to resume the application's (Recovery Disk Creator) functionality?
Another question--- does not Toshiba have a online help facility apart from this forum? Forum is from user, can't we (Toshiba Users) get online help from Toshiba technical team directly?
If yes please send me the route to reach.

I also have a problem with the L500 Toshiba disk creation software.
I initially installed the 32 bit version of Windows 7. I created recovery disks. I then restored the 64 bit version of windows 7 from the partition.
Somehow I managed to break the Toshiba disk creation software: it starts, opens, lets me choose what option I would like, then the screen disappears and it seems like another screen will appear, but it doesnt. It is like a process tries to fire and then just gives up and dies. The same thing occurs when starting the Disk recovery creator.
So I re-restored the 64 bit version of W7 to see if that would fix my Toshiba Disk Creator disappearing after the first screen. And yes, that did fix the problem - until I opened the DVD drive drawer whilst the software tried to access the drive. Stupid, but true. So then I was back to square one.
So now I know how to re-create the error - by opening the DVD drive drawer mid-process, but I am not sure whether I feel like taking 3 hours to restore and re-install all my software to have this happen again.
I tried to uninstall (worked) and re-install (worked) the disk creation software (tc00091600g.exe) which seemed to work successfully, but nothing changed - the same problem persists.
It is as if not everything was uninstalled or there is some kind of corruption of a program or process not ending/starting when it should.
If I knew a re-restore would solve the problem permanantly, I would re-do it, but it seems there is something wrong with the software that cannot detect an open drive and cancel the current operation without corrupting the system.
I can read DVDs and CDs on the drive and will now try to install other software to burn disks, but my gripe is that I can no longer create restore disks.
If anybody has any quick fixes or suggestions, that would be appreciated. I feel like it is only a minor issue and would only take a slight tweak to fix it, but I just dont know what that is.

  • Satellite A300 - "Enter password" on startup screen

Hello, I have a problem with my Satellite A300-14S PSAJ0E-00W00PSK.
*Screen with input "Enter password" appears every time when I turn it on.* When I put wrong password 3 times, my laptop turns off. I had installed windows 7 with ubuntu for 2 years with no problems but I cannot boot any operating system now (even when I boot with inserted CD/DVD with windows/ubuntu).
*When can I get correct password? Or it is another solution of this problem?*
    Thank You for any advice!

I presume your notebook is locked with BIOS password.
BIOS password cannot be set from alone but I dont understand your situation.
Either you have blocked your notebook with BIOS password or someone have done it without your knowledge.
Have you some explanation for this situation.
Anyway, if BIOS password is not known to you, you must contact nearest Toshiba service and ask for help. They can remove it for you.

  • Satellite Pro A300-1G0 - Freezes at startup splash screen

Running Windows 7, the laptop sometimes does not proceed further than the Toshiba screen, you can't even get into the BIOS. I have tried updating the BIOS, but with no change.
It only exhibts this behaviour 1 in 5 reboots. The only resolution is to hold down the power button to turn off, then remove the battery to perform a hard reset.
Any solution would be gratefully received.
I think it was working fine even since a Windows 7 upgrade, so I'm not sure that is relevant.
    Peter

    Hi buddy,
If your notebook freezes during Toshiba BIOS screen it has nothing to do with the installed software and OS. After you turn on your notebook it makes a power on self test (POST) so it seems to be a hardware malfunction that your notebook hangs there.
Have you connected any external devices to your notebook like printer, external HDD, etc. If yes, remove them and test it again.
In worst case you need help from an authorized service provider. The guys can check this and replace the faulty hardware.

  • Satellite P755-S5120 Freezing on Startup

I have only had my laptop for a couple months now and it has worked greatly until now. The other day I got on it and a Toshiba software update popped up, which was a BIOS update. I did it and it said you have to restart, which I clicked yes. It went through the update and went to restart, when Windows 7 screen with the logo came up it froze and stays there. I tried to reboot and it gave me two options to start normally or run a system repair. The system repaid just goes to a black screen and does nothing. I tried to hit F8 on bootup and tried to boot from the last good boot and Windows still froze. I am guessing Windows 7 has a problem with an update of sorts. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I have the same story. I also have a Satellite P755-S5120 with part no PSAY1U-0DV026<ES5.07> My laptop has been working fine since purchasing it months ago and after doing the BIOS update this morning I cannot get my computer to boot. I also cannot get the BIOS menu (I can't access the F2 BIOS Menu feature on the Toshiba logo as it doesn't get to that point). It gets stuck on loading windows phase of bootup or if tried from safe mode or other trouble shooting bootups it just gets a black screen.
I've also tried holding escape on power up for 3 seconds to try to press f1 to get to BIOS but I never get the F1 option.
    Any help appreciated, Zach.

  • Satellite A300 thinks button is held down and won't start up (long)

Hey sorry this is so long but I would really love some help,
Ok so I was just wondering if there is a way to fix this...
I was on my Satellite A300 (just over a year old) last night playing the Left 4 Dead 2 Demo using the Stream network and all of a sudden in Online Co-op the Camera Assistant Window opened minamising Left 4 Dead 2.
I thought this strange because I had closed the side popup bar for Camera Assistant on startup so that it wouldn't popup and do exactly what it did....
So after being confused I just clicked back onto Left 4 Dead 2 and thought "I'll deal with that in a sec"... When Left 4 Dead 2 did maximise again, (it took a few moments where there was a black screen and about 1 second of audio looping), I couldn't physically play but I could watch the game in a special mode that lets you take a break and let AI take over for a while. Also the in game chat box was up.
I was at first just trying to click the button to turn off AI control but the game wouldn't respond. Then my chat box's typing section started filling up with 'u's so I tried to get rid of them. All I could do was high-light them with my mouse and then more 'u's would replace them.
After trying Alt+F4 for a while and Ctrl+Alt+Del with no responce except for the 'u's I decided the poor computer must be strained with Left 4 Dead open and Stream, Illistratror and the Camera open in the background so I pressed the power button (set to shut down on my computer) and waited...
Left 4 Dead 2 closed, as did Camera Assistant I think... and then it kind of froze so I just held down the power button (sorry I know that probably wasn't the best move) and my laptop turned off...
Well when I tried to turn it back on the Black "Toshiba Leading Innovation" screen pops up along with the little footer explaining what F2 and F12 do. After that the screen switches to the little blinking text bar thing (sorry I don't know what it's actually called...) but the bar flashes on and remains there for about 4-5 seconds and then flashes off and on again, although it seems slightly duller in colour) and then a single tone plays (from the computer even if earphones are plugged in) and yeah... I have to turn it back off...
Remembering about the 'u's I assumed the computer was not happy that the 'u' button was being held down on startup so remembering that the fron of the keys are actually removable I (very carefully) removed the 'u' faceplate. It all looked 'normal' underneath... (I compared it to the 'y' button) and so pressed it a few times and re-placed the faceplate. Turned on the compter... Same thing happened...
I then tried taking out the battery and then putting it back in to see if that would help... Again, the tone played... I took unpluged my iPod, Took out the CD, and removed the Memory Card to see if that would help... It didn't unfortunately.
So next I tried turning on the computer whist pressing 3 keys (I thought it might cancel out the 'u' key) abd held down 'b+n+m'. The first time I did this Windows Boot Manager opened instead of the beeping. I only have Windows Vista so when I tried to continue by pressing 'enter' nothing happened... So I turned off the computer and tried again (this time with q+w+e as I thought maybe holding b+m starts Boot Manager). This time Windows Error Recovery displayed with the options; Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, Safe Mode with Command Prompt and Start Windows Normally. Again Enter wouldn't work... And thats my sistuation so far...
Please help if you can >: I'm scared if I take it to a Japanese Compute Person they'll wipe everything...
    Thankyou,
    Rochelle
(again I am sorry this is so long but I thought people might wan't specifics...)

    hi Ellehcore,
sure it is always the hardware.... nope!
deinstall the webcam software and/or shutdown the webcam service
this will prevent the software to show up in your game...
but with this extended problems you should ask a servicepartner for assistance....
    or simply recover the system...

  • I movie 09 freezing upon startup of progam

I have i movie 09 and have been using it successfully without any problems for over 6 months. During that time, I have been working on a movie. It is currently 45 minutes long and includes sound effects and songs that I have added from garageband. I recently added a voiceover from Garageband, via i tunes and now the whole projects freezes on startup, i cant even access any of the functions.
    Could it be:
1.i tunes incompatibility, either i movie or itunes needs an update, or both?
    2. Movie is too long?
    3. Problem with i movie..
I still have another 30 mins of the movoe to complete and want to be sure that I can continue to edit this film at a later date. I would also like to store it on an external drive, but have read in other posts that this is not as easy as it sounds. Has anyone had the same problem, or can offer any assistance here.
lots of work has gone into this project and would hate to lose it so far into the project.
at the moment, I have not upgraded any program (i movie, i tunes, garageband) in fear of losing any of my projects, should i be fearful.
any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    regards

  • Malfunctioning key on Satellite A300

    Good day,
Yesterday I bought the laptop Toshiba Satellite A300 and then I installed it, Windows 7 RC1 and now there is a problem. Key to that is to Slovak keyboard symbol "?" for English is "\" in combination with the Shift key does not work :-( If you press a key on the keyboard itself is displayed as the character but if I use the keyboard combination Shift key and the cursor is not removed.
Can someone advise me whether there is a problem with the laptop or is the problem of operating system and drivers?
    Thanks

    Hello,
Today I am Winodws Vista installed and do not help either. I rather I'm afraid that the problem is with the BIOS, because this is not one problem with this laptop that I have.
As I also wrote on this forum in any operating system run startup screen "Windows is starting" and as being booting system of loudspeakers is unbearable ringing, it takes about a minute, the system run properly. And this problem will certainly be concerned because the BIOS whistle occurred install Vista or Linux.
So I think that these two problems together.
Can you advise how I could update the bios?
    Thank you
