Satellite A300-1mz boot Vista too long

Hi all...
I'm asking for your support for a strange kind of problem that afflicts my *a300-1mz* since first day.
*The booting of the O.S*.(windows vista home edition) *is too long* for my patience. *Its duration* is more than *2min,30sec*.
Incredible for a dual core2duo and 4gb ram.
The screen *"please wait"* stays for most of the time.
I use always the hibernation function but sometimes I need to reboot and its duration is too long.
I'm asking you for a solution.
Thanks

Hi,
I advise you to check programs and utilities in startup option. You can start this typing in RUN msconfig.
http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/2996/startrup.jpg
As I now Tempro utility (Fingerprint utility if available)takes pretty much time as it scans for update
2. Defragment your drive with any defragmentator like Diskeeper, Raxco Perfect disk, clean the whole system (registry, remove duplicated folders) with program like Winutility, Tuneup

  • How to partition Satellite A300-21H with Vista?

    Hello,
I have a Toshiba Satellite A300-21H with Vista and want to dual boot it with ubuntu linux. At the moment there are three partitions, 1.5GB vista recovery, 150gb C and 150gb E ( with HDD recovery inside it ). For my ubuntu i would like partitions / and /home ( around 150gb ). Should i delete the E partition? I have my recovery DVD's made..
Whats the best approach, I think linux only allows 4 partition's.

    Hello
Of course you can delete the partition E because you have created the recovery disk.
Very good job buddy because sometimes the people forget it to burn. :(
Now you can install the factory settings every time that you want.
On Vista you can change the partition size, delete and create it. This is possible by the new Disk Management Utility:

  • Re: Satellite A300-1MZ hot area near the touchpad

    Hi all.
    I've a *Satellite A300-1MZ*
I'd know what lies beneath the touchpad. The area becomes hot enough.
I'd like to know also what is positioned in the bottom left of the notebook, the area becomes a bit hot after a couple of hours of use.
If possible, attached me a pattern that will show me the placement of all components of the notebook.
    Thanks
p.s.the cpu temperatures are regular: about *42-45* with normal usage

If you see WLAN switch on the left it does not mean the WLAN card is also placed there.
On the right side is placed main HDD. On the left is additional one.
Your notebook is delivered with one HDD and this means just right side will be/should be more warm than left. Remove cover placed under the left side and you will see there is nothing inside.
Just for your info: WLAN card on Satellite A300 is placed under the keyboard (in the middle) and not near the WLAN switch.

  • Satellite A300-1MZ - Battery working time too short

    I've a *toshiba a300-1mz* since last February.
Since first usage, the battery life appears very short.
It's just *1h30m* whit balance mode with wi-fi on
With saving mode, it increases very little.... : *1h45m* max.
I emphasize that if I use some flash games on line or some softwares that use a lot of cpu (more of 60%), its duration decreases to only *1h - 1h10m* max also with saving plane...
I ask all you if all is in the norm...
    thanks ...
    regards

    thanks for the information.
First of all, I wanted to recall that the battery lasts *1h, 45m* only if I set the profile * "energy saving"* with the *brightness of LCD to minimum*
With the profile *"Balanced"* it takes about *1h,30m* with *brightness at 40%*
Finally, *with any profile* (or "energy saving" or"balanced") it takes just over *an hour* with flash games online or with any application that uses a lot of cpu(more of 60%).
I do not understand if it is all normal or not
I also wanted to know how can I check if my battery is *6 cells*, or has less ...
I still think it is really very little, 1h, 30m (if it is actually a 6-cell).
    I await further evidence....
    thanks...

  • Satellite A300-1mz Can I use the recovery disks after a HDD upgrade?

I'm upgrading the hard drive of my *toshiba a300-1mz*, but I'd be sure that I can use the *recovery disks* maked at the first boots for the s.o. (vista)
    I expect your support...
    thank you very much...

    > how can I be sure that the disk is properly recognized before I buy it???
What do you mean exactly? Did you mean the HDD???
The A300 supports and 2.5 SATA HDD and all 2.5 HDD should be recognized properly since the SATA HDD controller hasnt any limitations.

  • How to install XP in Satellite A300-1BI with Vista

    Hi,
Few days ago I bought a Satellite A300-1BI with Windows Vista preinstalled. I don't like this OS and I want to degrade to Windows XP and install too my Ubuntu Linux distribution but I can't install no one from them because the hard disk appears as "not connected" on the XP and Ubuntu installation men... It seems like the laptop is made ONLY for Vista, and I think is... pathetic...
Someone can help me? I tried to search information on web, forums, etc, but it seems I'm the only one with this problem.
    Thanks!

Sorry estemon but I cannot believe what you wrote here. This is most asked question in last one year and you can find so many threads here with the same question. In just one minute I found, for example, this one http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=35787
It is about Satellite Pro but the principle is the same.
Check please Satellite A category on this forum and you will find answer to your question.

  • Satellite A300 wont boot

    Hello forum members,
I have had many problems with my Toshiba Satellite A300 for some time. I had found the solution of one of the problems through this forum but right now the problem I am facing; I cant find the solution for the problem.
When I press the power on button, the laptop just blinks (the fan runs , then stops , like it gets power pulse. the satellite sign on the left side of the laptop blinks and laptop shuts down, then laptop itself tries to boot but this goes on and on for long time. It finally boots (not really specific time when it boots , sometimes after 1 hour, 2 hours or all day) and I can use it. I tried to put the laptop in hibernate mood/sleep mode but no use, every time I press the power on button, I face the same problem. Once it starts it doesnt shut down and works fine.
I cant really figure out what is the problem? Your answers are really appreciated. I am having really a tough time with this laptop.

I tried to run it with ac supply (without battery) and it wont run. then with with both AC supply ans battery and it wont run, in the end , i tried it only with battery and it works fine. this is just strange for me. I have been running the laptop on ac supply for more than one year. i run it with battery (the battery is almost kaputt), then i shut it down, remove the battery and run it with only AC supply , works fine now. thanks all for the answers.

  • Re: Is there a way to check any electrical problems on my Satellite A300-1MZ?

as itle I check for any *electronic problems* on my toshiba a300- 1mz
Unfortunately I suspect that there is any problem and therefore I require your support.
In the majority of PC-desktop I find direct utility to check all the voltages(of motherboard and connectors) but with my notebook as I do??? ...
I hope you know to help me ...
    regards....

I apologize that I answer only now
I've read the *warranty terms* but *I dont found explicit references to the replacement of the disk.*
How can I do to be sure of *no warranty lose for replacement*?
however, about the cracking of disk, it was appeared since first boot.
I had to contact the support, and they done me to *perform some controls* on the new notebook (only a *CHKDSK* and a *boot-tool* for checking the integrity of the disk that I can not remember the name) and for them it's all ok,no error, no problem..and they said me literally:
+if you have no problems in the functioning of the notebook you can not send anything in warranty ... +
    a true delirium...
since the beginning, it was really noisy....
I'd like to avoid spending money but if I have *no warranty right* I want to replace it and I hope it does not have other problems of noise
I'd like to buy *a bigger hdd but a little more noiseless*

  • First startup after PC boot takes too long / too slow

    Hello there.
I've been experiencing this problem for about a year now but never actually thought it was a problem until I saw how fast FF can really start up on another computer.
Searching this issue on google mostly suggested to delete themes and plugins, emptying cache, etc but it didnt help in my case.
What I noticed is that when starting firefox for the first time on a recently booted computer it takes far too long to start up - 30-60sec. However exiting firefox and then restarting it is actually as fast as it should be. It is always the first startup that takes really long.
I am also sure that it does '''not ''' have to do with the fact that I am trying to start firefox while the whole OS is still loading with all its background processes.
Leaving the OS to load completely and then starting firefox also leads to a slow startup.
I hope someone can help me with this issue.
    Many thanks!
    Leo
My OS is Win7 64bit, 4gb RAM, using FF 10.0

If you opt in for sending data to Firefox, that includes information about start-up times. The developers use that feedback to analyse problems and improve firefox. As you say themes and other software extensions to Firefox may increase startup times. Another thing you may do to speed up the startup is take the option to load tabs later not immediately.
    * use '''Firefox Button -> Options -> | General | -> []Dont load tabs until selected'''
** see [[options window - general panel]]
    * for other advice and suggestions read [[Firefox takes a long time to start up]]
    * also see [[How can I help by submitting performance data?]]

  • Satellite A300 : cannot boot : blocked by Phoenix TrustedCore Setup Utility

This one is a bit bizarre. We have a Tosh Satellite A300-193 Laptop (Manufacturer Code: PSAJ1E-01000XEN) purchased July 2008, which my daughter uses for work. We have Kaspersky anti-virus on it, but since its license had expired (and we didn't really like it), I was going to remove it and install Avast.
Kasperky's removal instructions involve getting their "kavremove" tool which their instructions say should be run from safe mode. So, having downloaded the tool, I pressed F8 to boot to safe mode. ...
That's when things went wrong. Instead of the typical black boot-options screen, I got a password request from "Phoenix TrustedCore Setup Utility". We have never set up a password on this machine, and I have never seen this particular screen before. After three wrong guesses (!), the machine powers off.
Now when I turn it on, it goes straight to this Phoenix password request: I don't touch F2, F12, F8, or anything. I cannot work out why it should do this, nor how I can possibly by-pass it. None of my password guesses work (of course). My daughter is a primary school teacher with a school inspection looming in a week: while she has most of her work on a USB stick, there is data on this machine she really needs. Needless to say, tensions are rising.
I have googled all evening, so I know there is no point asking about passwords. But can anyone point me in a helpful direction? I'm baffled and at a loss. Grateful for any help (or hope!).
    David.

    Hi,
Which steps/procedure in that other thread you linked did you do to make it boot without asking for the BIOS password?
I looked through that message briefly, and what I didn't see is that after you get it to boot, you should probably go into the BIOS and reset the BIOS settings to default.
Another possibility is that the BIOS firmware itself may be corrupted, causing it to think that there's a BIOS password set.  If that's the case, you may need to try to flash the BIOS with a known good BIOS, maybe booting from floppy or CD to do the BIOS flash.

  • Satellite A300-1BZ with Vista - Com Port has disappeared

    Hi everyone.
My first time and I'm a bit of a duffer with technical stuff, so please be gentle with me!
    A300-1BZ with Vista.
A while ago I installed 'CarSoft V.83' (Engine diagnosis) from CD onto my laptop. It asked me to verify the com-port.
I looked in the device manager and in the list I saw 'com-port 4'. Ok, we'll go with that then. Everything worked fine and I was happily talking away to my car.
Yesterday I went to use it for the second time and it said there was an error with the com-port and to 'verify' the com-port.
So, I got the device manager back up and there is no mention of any com-ports in the list! It was there the last time I looked and now it's vanished!
I was at a loss what to do so, I uninstalled the CarSoft and then re-intsalled it again. Got the same error message.
Went to device manager. Still no com-port 4 in the list, or anything that relates to a com-port.
I don't know how or if I can get it back.
    Please help!

    Hi mate
First of all there are no com ports. The com port which you could see in device manager was an virtual port created by car software.
    What to say
I recommend removing the car software from the system firstly.
Then download the CCleaner and clean the system and registry entries.
Reboot the notebook and run the CCleaner again
After that install the car software again
    Maybe it helps

  • Macbook boot time too long

Hello, boot time on my MacBook seems to be very long. Can you please take a look at my bootchart and tell me what do you think?
And also the gnome login is very slow. More precisely, it takes too much time for the desktop to appear after logging in.
    Here is the bootchart:

exapplegeek, your thread title is far too general. Please rephrase it such like: "Macbook boot time problem" as soon as possible.
And leave the "[BOOTCHART]" part out.

  • Windows 8.1 first boot time too long

After Sysprep, windows 8.1 tooks long time to boot, is it normal?
    N.A.Malik

    Hi,
Generally, when you sysprep an image and deploy it to other devices, it would prepare the device settings, registry update and other computer configuration. This phase would take some time. We call it as specialize and OOBE pass.
Here we have a metric to assess the first boot time, you can take a look at this guide:

  • Boot takes too long on kt4 ultra

recently my computer has been taking really long to load windows. At the loading screen where it shows the windows xp logo and the bar on the bottom it takes like about 2-5 minutes for it to load and finally load into windows. Why is it doing this??

When you start up, hit F8 repeatedly which takes you in a DOS screen that allows you to choose "step by step" booting.  In a DOS screen you answer yes to everything that wants to get loaded, but note where it takes 5 minutes to go any further.  That is the slowest step and in the startup menu you can perhaps diable it.

  • Satellite A300 wont boot up

    Hi guys
Im overseas atm, so I really want to try and resolve this problem by myself.
Ok I was watching a movie yesterday and as it ended the laptop locked up, it wouldnt let me ctr, alt, del nothing....
So I waited a few mins and tried again to ctr, alt, del again still frozen. SO I hit the power button for a few seconds and shut it down that way. When it rebooted I chose safe mode but when I was prompted for my password the keyboard wouldnt work so I couldnt type it in.
I had to use my external mouse and shut it down from the power option.
The next time it rebooted i chose normal mode but it has been sitting on the vista screen just before the password box pops up for hours.
Is there anything i can do guys???
    Thanx John

    Hi Akuma,
I tried what you said but to no avail.
After it restarted it got stuck on the Vista screen again, after about 20 mins I gave up.
I tried safe boot, restoring to previously saved point.
Nothing works it just wont boot up, one minute is was working fine the next its dead.
Toshiba said to do a system restore or something like that which basically takes it back to when it was brand new, so I loose everything.....
