Satellite A300 Vista doesn't starts - no cd/dvd with backup

Hi Everybody
I have a big problem with Toshiba a300. Windows Vista doesnt's starts.
Shows only menu with 2 options: first "fix the system" - when I choose this option 10 s later I see messeage: click OK to turn off the computer;
when I choose second option my laptop restart everytime.
I have tried after turn on computer to press f8, but all option from this menu do NOT fix the problem.
I have no CV/DVD for my computer.
After first starts I don't burn DVD with backup.
I really don't now how I can install system with recovery patriction. What softwere I need and how I must do it?

The Sat A300 and other newer notebook models are equipped with the HDD Recovery option. This HDD recovery should allow you to recover the notebook without the usage of any disks.
In order to start the HDD recovery procedure you will have to press F8. Then choose the first option called Repair my Computer. Then new window will appear and there you have to choose Toshiba HDD recovery. Thats all.
But if this procedure wouldnt work (no matter why) then you will have to use the Toshiba Recovery disk. If you didnt create a recovery disk firstly and the notebook will not boot up then you will need to buy a Recovery disk from this page:

I was installing windows vista updates, but the battery was low and the computer turned off, then, the computer doesn´t start, only the hard disc led is light but the screen is black, please can you help me?

Thanks for your advice, but the problem is very complicate, the computer doesn't boot up, only the led te HD is ligthing, I removed the HD and the memory but doesn't work, I've read that the problem could be the bios, and the recomendation is remove the battery of the board to reset the bios, but I think it is very dangerous.

Satellite A300 - Vista won't load, computer won't start

Vista will not load; have tried start up repair; system restore and starting in safe mode, none of these will work. I get the error "Error 0x80070570: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."
I don't know what I have done with my recovery CD; or if I even got any with my purchase (from Harvey Norman).
Please advise what can be done.

Normally you dont get any recovery disk with the notebook because you have to create it yourself using Toshiba recovery disk but this is mentioned in user manual. Probably you have already done this and you can find the recovery disks again. ;)
If not you have to follow the instructions posted by Andrej: You have to start HDD recovery feature to get rid of this. Enter the advanced boot menu of Windows where you can choose to start in Windows in safe mode, etc. and select Repair my computer. Vista will load some files and on new window you can choose the Toshiba HDD recovery feature.

Satellite A300-15A does not start up after Alcohol program installation

Hi...
I bought Satellite A300-15A yesterday and after completing the Vista installation process, I tried to install "Alcohol" but my notebook shutdown and now I'm not able to start notebook.
It is not starting in any mode.
I forget to make recovery discs. I think Alcohol is not compatible with Vista. Error which i receive is below.
Can anyone tell me the solution?

Sounds like a familiar problem to me, as I had the same one with the Daemon tools. After installing those tools I couldn't start my Windows XP any more. I guess it somehow mixed up some drivers or registry entries, but not sure about that.
Ok, you can try to deinstall the tool by first starting Vista in safe mode (press F8 before Windows boot up).
You should be then able to enter Vista without problem.

After BIOS update Satellite L350-172 doesn't start anymore

I just updatet the BIOS of my notebook from 1.60 to 2,20. Now the Notebook doesn't start any longer.
"It was stopped for reason not to damage the Computer" - blue schreen.
How can I downgrade the bios again? Or - what have I to change in the bios-settings?

Im a little bit confused about your posting. How do you tell your BIOS not to restart?
Anyway, after BIOS update you should load the default settings in BIOS.
Did you choose the right BIOS especially for your model?

Satellite M35X-S349 doesn't start up

My laptop satellite M35X doesn't start up. I press the power button. Then the hard disk green light binks once. The fan or hard disk makes a sound for a couple second. Nothing is displayed in the screen.
Nothing happens after that. I've tried to boot from a CD, but the hot keys doesn't work (press power button, then "C").

From your description of the problem I would suggest that you have a hardware problem on your notebook. The initial POST is failing when it checks your peripheral devices and this is preventing the BIOS from loading correctly. I would suggest you try to remove/reinstall the RAM modules, the Hdd and The Optical Drive. If the fault still persists then you will need to refer to a Toshiba authorised Service Partner for further diagnostics.

I understand your point of view and your reaction. Its always pity if something will go wrong with a new product
But we can only discuss here in forum about the solutions or further handling and fact is that there is only one solution.
You have to contact always the ASP in your country if the hardware issue has been developed on your machine this is a fact and the ASP is your contact person.
Im sure the guys will help you maybe an additional part must be replaced which was not fixed at first time.

Satellite A300 intermittently won't start

Hi,
can any of you help with A300 which sometimes (recently even more often) just wont start/boot?
I run my A300 without battery, when I press power button
1) Fun starts
2) "Sattelite" logo on lower left corner blinks
3) HDD diode blinks
4) display wont turn on even for a while
5) touchpad lightning stays off
6) It will continue like that for ever (no activity except fan)
After couple of hard reboots it may occasionally boot and then is working absolutely fine.
Any ideas?

On this virtual way it is not possible to say for sure what the problem is. Since two weeks I have similar problem on my A300. It wont start at all. Power LED blinks two or three times and it is all what happen.
At the beginning it happened sporadically but now there is no other reaction. I think problem is board power supply electronic.
On your A300 it can be the same.

Satellite 1900 (PS192E) - Doesn't recognize any CD/DVD

I have just bought a Toshiba Satellite 1900 (PS192E) and put an old 20GB HDD into it from an old laptop.
When I boot up, the display is in VGA 16 colour mode, it recognises the DVD drive but doesn't recognise any CD/DVD when inserted. I have tried to install and run Toshibas "driver robot" utility but the display is such that I can't see the whole screen to start the scan.
If there is anyone out there that could give me some guidance I'd be hugely appreciative.

Maybe the drive is faulty, or the lens is dirty.
Can you boot from bootable CD's? If yes, then Windows may have the incorrect filters.
Try removing the CD/DVD Filters from the Registry.
When CD/DVD related software is installed (such as iTunes, Nero, virtual CD software), they install filters into the registry, which can cause compatibility problems.
1) Run Regedit (Start -> Run -> Regedit)
2) Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
3) In the right pane, delete the "UpperFilters" key, and delete the "LowerFilters" key.
4) Reboot.
If your CD/DVD programs stop working, you will need to reinstall them (preferably with an updated version).

Satellite A300-1JH PSAGLE: Control buttons don't work with XP

I own a Toshiba Satellite A300 psagle.
It works beautifully, but there is a problem: the tactile music buttons don't work.
I am using Windows XP and I have installed all the drivers available.
Could some one please tell me what I should do.
P.s. how can I activate the "face recognition" option?

Regarding the Toshiba Control Media buttons;
You have to install the Toshiba Controls from the Toshiba European driver page.
Check there the Satellite A300 PSAG8E series and download the Toshiba Controls

Satellite A300-1AK don't start after update Win Vista

Hello everyone, hope someone can help me
I have a toshiba notebook with a view, I got the bright idea to do an update since a long time that was not updated at the end. I restarted the update as required nb. and then nothing!
The practice turn on the screen toshiba nb out and then the screen stays black, the hard disk does not read it, I tried to put the recovery disk and start it on the drive but nothing, to put the dvd but no operating system, does not read anything...
What happened?? Possible that an update is this damage? The problem and as I said before that I can not act in any way ...!!!
-I can not access the computer in Safe Mode
-always black screen and does not load the hard disk
-I upgraded because I had just reset the notebook with the recovery DVD, so the reader was working, once the update is complete restart of windows I went out this black screen, where I noticed that does not read the hard disk. ..

Hmm you mean you cannot see anything? Neither the red Toshiba Splash Screen?
What to say sounds not good.
But try this short workaround:
Disconnect the AC adaptor, remove the battery. Leave the notebook for some time disconnected from both parts I would wait some hours
Then connect both parts and try to power up

Webcam on Satellite A300-1MX doesn't work properly

After my windows Vista system crashed on Dec 16 2011, I had the recovery done.
After that, I didn't find any webcam driver on the whole laptop. On the support page of Toshiba I finally found version 1.7, but that doesn't work at all!
It always shows up: Webcam driver open fail, please restart camera or computer. As it is a built in camera I tried it with the restart of the computer, but that didn't help at all. So I tried it with the option to repair the driver with Install Shield Wizard. The program has done something, but without any success.
So I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it didn't help at all!
Has somebody an idea?

Found a Toshiba knowledge base article which describes this error and provides a solution to this issue.

But its related to Portege M600, and Satellite U300 only.
However, you should also try to perform a BIOS update. After that set the BIOS to default settings and save the changes. Then try to reinstall the webcam software once again.
You should also check the device manager. Here in device manager the webcam should be recognized as a USB device if this is not the case then this means that the webcam has not been recognized by OS and this means that there could be an hardware issue
As far as I know the webcam is connected to the USB controller on the motherboard. If the cable connection is lose, then the webcam would not be recognized in device manager; neither as USB device nor an unknown device.

My Satellite Pro C650 doesn't start or charge

I just purchased my Toshiba Satellite Pro C650.
Charged it for 16 hours, set it up and after restarting it went off and now it doesn't turn on of charge at all.

Remove the batter and disconnect the AC adaptor.
Then wait some hours and connected both parts to the notebook again.
Then try to power up the unit.
If this will not help you, then I would recommend asking a notebook technician for an check. If there is no sign of life, then a serious hardware problem might be possible.

Satellite A300-211 - Can't start recovery disk creator

I just installed the ultraiso program, when I open the toshiba recovery disc creator this message appear
An unexpected error occurred.
please quit this application and restart it.
(error code:0D00F6-26-00000015)
with an only ok option when I press it, it appears again ,when I press ok for the second time, it disappears and the program runs. What can I do to stop that?

Can you please tell us what happens if you uninstall ultraiso program? To be honest ths program isnt known to me, I never heard about this.
Then try it again please.
In worst case you have to start the HDD recovery option to reinstall Windows. Then you should be able to create the recovery media. For HDD recovery procedure I have founded this:

Satellite P200: Vista doesn't make a bakup

Hello,
From time to time my Satellite P200 will not make a backup. It gives an error message after almoust 10 seconds.
But when I'm not realy using my notebook it seems that he takes an automatic backup.
To be sure I would like to use Thrue image again with a Sata HD
Anybody having experiance with this???

I dont use the True image software and therefore I cannot provide any 100% solution for you problem
But Ive goggled a little bit and it looks like an new patch and update is available for Vista support possibly its a software bug and therefore the image creation doesnt work always.
PS; I use the ghost and this software is really a good solution if you want to create the own images.
