Satellite A300D-1EI - blue screen error - display drivers had failed

I 've bought my laptop a month ago.
Everything is working great except two "blue screen" errors caused by the graphics card.
Both were when the laptop was connected with TV through S-video port.
First was when the laptop display turned off after 15 minutes while watching a movie, on resume said that display drivers had failed and then I got the blue screen. Then I updated the display drivers from ATI's website and set the laptop display not to turn off.
All were ok with no problems, until last night when I got another message that display drivers had failed followed by a blue screen.
I am wondering if this is a driver's problem or is something wrong with my graphics card.
System Info:
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T8400 @ 2.26 GHz
Memory (RAM): 3.00 GB
System Type: 32-bit Windows Vista Home Premium
Display Adapter: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470

So long you use ATI driver from ATI support page there is no possibility to say anything about it.
This driver is not tested and Toshiba cannot offer any help about it.
So what you can do is to install OS again using recovery media and see what will happen in the future. Please test it intensively with clean preinstalled operating system. Don't install anything that can have some negative influence to this game or additional applications, codecs or something similar.
Test it please and let us know if the problem persists.
When you want to watch movies on TV at first switch to the TV and then start DVD player.

  • Satellite P20-771: Blue screen error message after OS reinstalling

    I have a laptop Satellite P20-771 / Pentium 4 3.40GHz (800/HTT) / XP Home/ 17' with nVidia Geo5700 driver.
As I had some problems with software, and I reinstalled everything using the provided CDs. Unfortunately the computer keeps malfunctioning giving me blue screen errors, that are due (this comes out when I sumbit the error to Microsoft) to device drivers. I updated everything (I hope) from the Toshiba page, but I am not an expert and I am worried that I missed something or that something has not been loaded in the right order or that the setting are incorrect.
Thank in advance for your help

    Hello
I have also P20 (red one) and have never had any problem after using provided recovery media. According to your posting there must be two possible reasons for blue screen:
    1. you have installed some additional software that causes bluescreen or
    2. there is some hardware component responsible for that (new memory module or maybe some external device connected to the unit)
Sorry but I dont see any other reason. On this way it is not easy to give precise answer and we can just speculate why this happen.

I bought this laptop a month ago and I have a serious problem with 3d applications, 3ds max and video games. I receive a blue screen saying

I downloaded the latest drivers for my nvidia display Forceware 84.68 (GeForce Go 7300, 512ram)from Toshiba but nothing changed. Any suggestions ? What is the problem? the performance is really good until the blue screen appears, so i don't see why this happens...

Did you ever get an answer? When i took my laptop home, the first thing i did once it was setup was test various 3d programs, because i bought it to do my 3d work on as well as having something mobile for work. I got that stop error, called toshiba and was told to uninstall and reinstall the graphics driver. Sounded like a fob but i did it anyway, and it had no effect. It seems like there's nothing i can do as Nvidia says they don't support it, it's a toshiba problem, and toshiba swears it can't be their fault.
I used to see it on my desktop (before it went to computer heaven) until i updated the driver (a new one came out), and then i never got it again. From what toshiba tech support told me, it sounds like they won't be updating the driver for the go 7300 as it's regarded as too old? I'm pretty disappointed as my search of reviews of the product never revealed this flaw.
One person who i talked to advised me to disable Hardware Acceleration, but wihout that i might as well saved money and gotten a cheapy graphics card. The price difference between a notebook with this card and one with the onboard intel type was huge.
The first notebook i bought had a faulty dvd drive and i returned it for this one. I cringe at the thought of calling toshiba again and having them tell me to return it to them as if it was a hardware failure, when it sounds like a poorly written driver is causing the STOP.

  • Satellite S2450-201: Blue Screen Error - UNMOUNTABLE BOOT VOLUME

    Hello,
This morning a turned on my laptop and went downstairs for breakfast when i returned to the laptop there was a blue screen in which it said the following...
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
    UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows uodates you might need.
If problems continue, disable or remove any new installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, Press f8 to select advanced startup options, and then select safe mode.
    Technical information:
    *** STOP: 0X000000ED (0X817D3130, 0XC0000032, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)
Now i have tryed restarting over and over, I have tryed Safe Mode, Safe Mode with networking, Safe Mode with command prompt, Last known good config, Start windows normally. All of which lead to the same blue screen with the same white lettered message.
I need to gain access to the computer quite soon as it contains important data. If anyone can help without me losing any data i would be very much obliged.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi
I think the easiest way to solve this problem is to recover the notebook with the delivered Toshiba recovery CD.
The boot sector can be created again on the HDD.
But you know; all data will be deleted.
If you want to save the data, you can try to remove the notebook HDD. Install it in the external USB case and connect the HDD to the other computer. Then you will be able to access the HDD and to save the data.

  • Satellite A135-s4527-blue screen error

I have recently developed a major problem with my laptop.  When I turn it on, it runs through the Toshiba screen and then to a blue screen that tells me a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down.  The technical information reads as follows:  STOP:  0x0000c1F5  (0x00000000,0x00000000,0x00000000,0x00000000)
I have tried to start in safe mode but sends me back to this screen.  Tried recovery discs and they seemed to load but then looped back to this screen.  Tried to start with F8 and every option after but always loops back to this screen.
I took it in to a local computer shop.  They also tried all of the above and told me that they recently had the exact model in with the exact problem and they had to put a new motherboard in.  (They didn't charge me cause they didn't fix anything.)
Now I am faced with the decision to replace the motherboard and hope that's the problem.  OR put that money toward the purchase of a new computer...which is what I'm leaning toward.
    Any suggestions?

  • Blue Screen Error on Satellite A100-920 (PSAA9)

    Hi
I had a blue screen error during normal use and after restart, Windows suggested updating the BIOS, so I updated it with the latest version (5.10). The next day, I got another blue screen and on restart, Windows suggested I update my display drivers, which I did (to ver. 8.241)... I have an ATI Radeon X1400 GPU. After doing that, the computer crashed every time it loaded windows, with a popup about services.exe telling me the computer would turn off in 60 seconds.
I assumed this was related to the display driver, so I replaced the drivers with an earlier-dated version (8.241-034065C). After I did this, it seemed to work and I could use the computer fine for a bit, even play games such as GTA but i am starting to get the blue screens again, usually just when opening folders, etc and not when running graphics-heavy applications. The problem definitely goes away when I disable my display drivers, but that's not much of a solution.
I turned off the reboot on error setting and this is the information from the blue screen of death:
    *** STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005,0xEE6DF5E9,0xBAD2F99C,0x00000000)
    *** system32:huy32.sys - Address EE6DF5E9 base at EE6DD000, Datestamp 45abe717
Does anyone have any idea how I can sort this problem, it's driving me crazy!
I have downloaded the Omega drivers for the card, but am slow to install them as I hear they can cause overheating and I think ATI/Toshiba should be able to provide me with a solution without me having to use third party drivers.

I have Network Associates (McAfee) v. Enterprise 8. I ran a full virus scan with this and windows defender and a worm stinger utility and another microsoft app whose name I forget... all came up clean.
I tried the omega drivers out of frustration and they cause services.exe to terminate.
Could it possibly be a BIOS issue? I'm not sure how likely it is, since the computer definitely works with the display adapter enabled and will usually crash (BSOD) after anything from a few mins to a few hours with it enabled. I seem to be getting two types of reply from microsoft on restart, one saying there is a general driver fault and one saying there is a display driver fault and suggesting updating the display drivers.

  • Blue screen error message on Satellite Pro A10

    Hi,
I'm trying to help my inlaws with their Satellite Pro SPA10. I had set this up for them a few months ago and it was running really well.
Now it restarts about two seconds past the "use last good configuration" etc. screen, gets to this screen again then restarts immediately ad infinitum, never pausing on the error mesage for long enough to see what it says.
I managed to get it to boot from the windows XP home disc and got as far as the repair or continue with installation screen. When I asked the computer to do either it crashes to blue screen almost immediately. The error message is
    *** STOP: 0x000000c5 (0x00000000, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x8082B98B)
This is beyond my level of expertise, can anyone help?
    Thanks

Hi Mike thank you for replying,
I am not able to start the computer in safe mode, safe mode with networking, last good known configuration etc, Each time it quickly blue screens and restarts about two secs into the process.
I was unable to try a clean OS install from the disk as it gave the blue screen error shown in the original post. The same thing happened when I tried to use the repair option on the XP home disc. So i can't get into the computer at all to start diagnosing the fault, the only clue I have is the error message, and after searching the internet I haven't found much enlightenment from that yet.
If you can help me out or suggest where to search it would be much appreciated.
    Thx

  • Satellite L505-13W shows Blue screen error

My laptop SATELLITE L505-13W Shows blue screen error.
The os gets booted up and after some time it shows a blue screen error and restarts.
On restart it asks for repair, even after succesfull repair it showed the same error.
So i tried to recover using the recovery cd but it proved to be a tragedy.
It eraced my full HDD to stone age and smiled at me saying recovery is not possible.
    please help me.......

    Hi
If the notebook cannot be recovered using the recovery disk, then all this smells like hardware problem.
Are you sure that your recovery disk is OK?
Did you try to install the OS using other installation disk?
Maybe this would be useful to check if the issue might be related to the faulty recovery disk but if the BSOD (blue screen of death) appeared before the OS installation, then I would say the issue might be caused by internal hardware malfunction
It would be necessary to check the RAM modules and the HDD.
HDD can be checked using the HDD diagnostic software like Drive Fitness Test (freeware)
RAM could be checked using a tools like memtest but you need a running systemso in this case you cannot check the RAM using a software I recommend removing one module and testing the notebook using one module in each slot

  • Blue screen errors - critical updates - XP  SP2  SP3 - device drivers

We initially had an internal program error on an XP program that caused it to quit running. We
started getting blue screen errors that I could not resolve.
(painfully) I reinstalled XP sp2 after:
removing the boot partition, ran delux tools (complete) with not errors, repartitioned boot camp
(the long way), reformated the windows partition, (long way).
I went back and forth getting the windows and apple updates after installing XP until it said I only
needed SP3, which I was not yet ready to go to.
I still got errors and crashes, even with no applications running except Norton antivirus (only).
I left the unit on over night and had 24 save dumps in the event viewer. I checked for win updates
again and express said only sp 3 was available. I decided tocheck for custom updates.
Custom told me there were 102 critical updates. I tried to install them. They all downloaded but
98 of them would not install.
I convinced myself I had done something wrong and repeated the process with the same result.
In that the updates would not install, did I really need them or was boot camp/windows misinformed?
I installed sp 3. (boot camp 2.1) Seems to be running OK but with some errors in the eventvwr and
    some more crashes.
I compared with another unit and could not replicate the errors. The other unit (same setup) had two user accts. while my broken set up had one that came up right away with reboots.
I added a second user and the crashes (though not all eventvwr errors) went away. Is this another
    boot camp/windows xp issue?
I wanted to know how to find which device drivers and which versions I am running. That seems to
relate more directly to blue screen errors if they return.
    Thanks,
    -um

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
sorry to hear about such a misery.
Sadly Windows XP does not offer such a 'list' of hardware components and associated drivers.
Only way is to use the Device Manager (from Control Panel - System - Hardware) and click through the components to find out which driver version is used.
On a personal sidenote: I would stay away from any kind of Norton products either in Windows and/or OS X.
Searching around in these Forum you will find numerous mentions of problems with Norton products running.
    Good Luck
    Stefan

    Hi
Did you get this BSOD only once as yet?
Maybe its just a driver issue so check the device manager for any problems.
Normally BSODs are related to RAM or HDD. You can test both components using a special test tools like Memtest86 and Drive Fitness Test. You can use Google to find both freeware programs.

You got bugcheck 0xa - "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL".  A kernel mode component tried to read from address 0 at an inappropriate time.
Can you upload the contents of c:\windows\minidump to your SkyDrive and
    provide a link?
For dealing with Blue Screens, general guidance follows:
Consider running chkdsk on all partitions.  Let chkdsk complete on each partition and see if that helps.
    Also consider running SFC /SCANNOW.
If you boot into safe mode, do you still experience bugchecks? What about if you do a clean
    boot, or device
    clean boot?
For memory corruption cases such as you seem to be experiencing, it can be helpful to use Driver Verifier.  To enable Driver Verifier... start->verifier.exe->OK->Create standard settings- >Next->select driver names from a list->Next->sort
by Provider->select all non-Microsoft drivers->Finish, and OK your way out  of the dialog.
Then, reboot and use the system as you normally would, and wait for a problem.  In the event that the system does not boot  completely after enabling driver verifier, boot into Safe Mode and run driver verifier, and tell it to delete the
    changes.
Wait for a bugcheck to occur after enabling verifier as described, and then upload it to your SkyDrive,
    and provide a link.
Consider testing memory with Windows Memory Diagnostic or memtest86. Note that memory that passes tests is not necessarily  good memory - it just hasn't failed a test.  Consider systematically eliminating RAM from the system - run with
a couple of  modules for a while, and see how things go. Then try the other modules.
Other common suggestions include ensuring drivers are up to date (including video drivers), as well as ensuring that you're  using the latest BIOS.
