  • Satellite A305-S6858 win XP video driver not working

I recently bought a Satellite A305-S6858 in the States and I downgraded the Vista Home premium pre-installed
to Win XP 32 sp 3. I had several problems in getting the computer up and running. After reading several posts
on various forums I managed to install the OS but I am still unable to use the Intel video driver.
After installing the ones available on the toshiba web site I still have in Device Manager under the video adapter node
2 Mobile Chipset 965 entries with an exclamation point.
I recently discovered that not having the video driver installed the OS doesn't allow Stanby and Hibernate as power down options.
Has anyone stumbled in the same issue?
    Thank you

You need to install the Base drivers first.
Try installing the Intel Chipset Driver first, then the Display Driver.

  • Toshiba Satelite A305-S6858 Reboots and could not load Vista Normally but can run Safemode only

Please help me...  I love this Toshiba Satelite A305-S6858 and I keep getting this problem.  I already tried to disable legacy support and the memory test says 4GB is working fine.  Please help me.

    Let's start here.
Boot into Safe Mode and open System Properties (sysdm.cpl). On the Advanced tab, click the Settings button at the bottom (under Startup and Recovery).
What is the state of the Automatically restart check box? If it's checked, clear it.
What is the state of the two fields at the bottom? Set things for a mini-dump as shown below.
Does that give you a blue screen when you boot normally?

  • Volume controls of my A305-S6858 causes crashes

I have a Satellite A305-S6858. Recently, it seems like almost every time I try to change the volume, explorer decides to crash repeatedly until I reboot the machine. It doesn't matter if I use the volume wheel on the front of the notebook or the slider from the taskbar's volume menu. Why is this happening, or if you don't know exactly why, how do I pinpoint the cause of this and go about fixing it?
Thanks in advance for the help.

  • NDStray.exe - Application Error on Satellite A305-S6916

Recently, I have begun to experience an error when I first boot my computer:
    NDStray.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000006). Click OK to terminate the application
    or
The exception unkown software exception (0xc0000005) occured in the application at location 0x0022ab4. Click OK to terminate the application.
When I click okay, everything seems to run normally with two exceptions:
    1. My network icon shows that I am disconnected from any wireless networks, but I am able to browse the web normally.
    2. I experience a 30-45 second lag every time I launch a program and often while using any program, especially if that program uses the internet.
I am running on a Satellite A305-S6916, model# PSAGCU-09S01S, with Windows Vista. I am fully up to date on Windows Updates. I ran a virus scan through AVG and did not find anything, a spyware/malware scan through Spybot S&D, but did not find anything. I did not originally connect the error with the lag, so I also defragged and ran the disk cleanup program, none of which have helped at all.
I am unsure of how to resolve this error, any assistance is appreciated. Please let me know if further information is needed. Thank you

It's the component of Config Free that supplies the icon in the Notification area. You don't need it.
You can try reinstalling Config Free to get rid of the message.

Or you can disable it by clearing the corresponding check box on the Startup tab of the System Configuration utility (msconfig.exe).

  • Disable tap to click

I am having a problem with the tap to click "feature" or as I would rather call it, nuisance.  It was easy to disable the tap to click feature in the touch pad driver for Windows 8.0, but the one that Toshiba Service Station suggested for Windows 8.1 seems to have that setting removed.  Is it possible to disable tap to click on my laptop using Windows 8.1?  I have a Satellite c655d-s5300. Any help will be appreciated.  I don't care for this tap to click feature, but I guess I will have to get used to it if the setting to disable it has been taken away.

Nothing. Thanks a lot, Toshiba. And your customer service did exactly zero to tell me how to disable the tap to click, either. They sent me instructions on something that had absolutely nothing to DO with disabling tap to click! What the holy heck is wrong with these people? If you're going to have completely ineffectual customer service, completely ineffectual customer forums, and no --um-- MANUAL THAT I CAN READ, maybe, either online or in the box--that would have been nice-- then can you PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE NEVER HAVE A TAP TO CLICK FUNCTION ON YOUR STUPID COMPUTERS EVER, EVER AGAIN? Whew. Sorry for the rant, but after getting no manual, no help from customer service, and no help here, I just had to. No one is listening anyway, apparently. I guess I'll buy a mouse so that I can just disable the stupid touchpad. An extra so many dollars, but fat luck getting any effective answer out of these people at this company, I guess.

  • Tap to click not working properly in Mountain Lion. How do I get apple to fix this major issue with mountain lion?

The tap to click does not work with mountain lion as it did before the mountain lion install. I purchased a brand new imac in August of 2011 and got a wireless keyboard and selected the wireless trackpad instead of a mouse.  The trackpad worked wonderful pre upgrade with tap to click. Now after the install of the newest beast, I have to actually press the trackpad rather than a slight tap. I have carpel tunnel and this is causing great stress upon my hand. How do I get apple to fix this major issue with mountain lion?

Perhaps, I was not clear enough.
I have an imac purchased in Aug. 2011 which came with Lion 10.6 (two uprades before mountain lion)
Recently, I just purchased a macbook pro retina with Mountain Lion
On my imac, my settings allowed me to "tap to click" everything EXCEPT the initial log in at the star up of my imac, again running Lion 10.6
On my macbook pro retina which has Mountain Lion, I set up the "tap to click" option, but notice that a "hard" click was neccessary when trying to click things. I thought this was a macbook thing (my first one) so I went and upgraded my imac to Mountain LIon, BIG MISTAKE! Now both my imac AND my macbook only have limited "tap to click" options. Before mountain lion I could "tap" to highlight and select text, tap and drag, and many other thiings that Mountain Lion has disabled.
I am truly surprised that no one has noticed this MAJOR issue.
Is there a way to uninstall this update, similar to how on a PC you can go back to a restore point.
On another note even the way PREVIEW has changed is less user friendly, there used to be icons on the bottom right corner of the screen, now I have to double tap and select the option I would like to switch between contacts and thumbnails. This is really annoying and is causing me time when reviewing files.
Just in case anyone was wondering, I did go to system preferences -> trackpad -> select tap to click
In fact almost all of the trackpad functions have been selected.

  • Magic Mouse randomly enabled tap to click

Hey guys. I've had a magic mouse for over a year now, and I've loved it for all those years.
Until recently, when it decided to randomly enable the "tap to click" feature.
I didn't even know there was a tap to click feature, and I can't find a way to disable it in system prefs.
I've tried disabling MagicPrefs, restarting the mouse, restarting the computer, restarting bluetooth, and putting new batteries in the mouse, all to no avail.
    It's driving me insane.
How do I get rid of this?

There isn't a "tap to click" in standard OSx mouse preferences, only a physical click. This must be coming from MagicPrefs. Open the preferences for MagicPrefs (it should be listed under "other" in System Preferences) and select the "clicks & Taps" tab. Under Taps, uncheck all the one finger options.

  • Satellite A305-S6825 - HDD light flickers sometimes

I have the Toshiba Satellite A305-S6825, which I bought back in April. 250GB and 3GB Ram.
I notiice sometimes when I am not working on it that the Hard Disk drive light is flickering for some quite some time. Is this normal?
I don't have any programs checked (I think) to do any automatic updating and/or scanning, etc.
Are there programs running in the Vista Premium without me using the actually working on the notebook?
I hope the notebook is not broken.

The notebook is definitely not broken. The same happen with my two Toshiba laptops.
In the background many processes are active and it is possible that antivirus checks or scans the HDD.
Maybe some updates are installed at this moment. It can be anything.
Anyway, don't worry. Everything is OK.

  • Re: Hard drive failing on my 1 year old Satellite A305-S6905

My hard drive is failing on my laptop [a Satellite A305-S6905] it was a year old Feb 11'th so no warranty, now i have to pay someone to put in a new HD, pay for the HD and pay them to put a new OS in it because they don't come with Operating System Disks anymore, a good I had already bought a Windows 7 disk, but wait, ...I can't use that, it's an upgrade, so now what am I gonna do?

    >and pay them to put a new OS in it because they don't come with Operating System Disks anymore
I think there was an option to create own recovery disk!
I think all info was placed in the user manual as I saw this also in user manual of the Toshiba European notebooks
The HDD can die due to different reasons in most cases its a matter of the time when a HDD would dieits a expendable part my HDD died after 5 year of usage in your case its just an bad luck
PS: in my country the TV, notebooks, computers, etc are covered by warranty for 2 years. Maybe you should ask your dealer for help
Otherwise the HDD replacement is not difficult the HDD bay is placed at the bottom of the unit and you can remove the HDD easily
    Bye

how to enable trackpad tap to click windows 7 64 bit macbookpro mid 2009:
The following link has a solution for 32 bit but not 64 bit, is there a new update that works for 64 bit??

    Hi Rhondavas77,
    To enable/disable Just-In-Time debugging
On the Tools menu, click Options.
In the Options dialog box, select the Debugging folder.
In the Debugging folder, select the Just-In-Time page.
In the Enable Just-In-Time debugging of these types of code box, select or clear the relevant program types:
    Managed, Native, or Script.
To disable Just-In-Time debugging, once it has been enabled, you must be running with Administrator privileges. Enabling Just-In-Time debugging sets a registry key, and Administrator privileges are required to change that key.
    Click OK.
    More information is here.

  • Cant change tap to click settings because boot camp does not appear in the drive or task bar.

Late 2008 macbook pro 8Gb ram 750Gb HDD 2.8Ghz intel duo-core with OSX 10.9 (partition with Windows 7 ultamate)
I am experiancing a whole host of issues with installing windows on my mac, frst of all the genuine product key that I bought directly from microsoft does not work. Also my trackpad is partially broken so I can only tap to click which means that I have to use my external trackpad to use the computer in windows 7. Therefore I have tried to set windows 7 to tap to click but could not find the way to change that and the fourms said I could change it throuh the Bootcamp settings but bootcamp doesent appear anywhere in the search field and the icon is missing from the task bar and so is the arrow for showing hidden icons. As it is I can't get anywhere with this machine. Will someone please help me!

  • L440 Clickpad - "Tap to click" function not working in "Trackpoint Only" mode

On a fresh Window 7 install it is possible to tap-to-click when using the Trackpoint rather than pressing down on the Clickpad (which is *very* noisy compared to the X220/X230 buttons and requires far more force). This is very nice alternative to using the Clickpad for left/middle/right button clicks when using the Trackpoint only. It requires almost no force, it generates zero noise and is very comfortable.
Unfortunately, upon installing the Synaptics Ultranav drivers from Lenovo SU, this function is no longer present! You MUST click down the Clickpad otherwise it is not possible to register a left/right/middle click when using the Trackpoint.
Even with Touchpad enabled this functionality is not present, which is quite baffling because you would expect that when the Trackpoint is used, the touchpad should behave as mouse buttons + gestures + scroll zones.
I remember that there were plenty of tricks that could be done through registry entries to enable/disable "hidden" functions of the Synaptics driver. Is there a knowledge base that I could browse and find out if there is a way of enabling the tap-to-click feature when using only the Trackpoint?

    Hi Harris,
sorry for not getting back to you quicker, had a job getting hold of an L440.
When I received the system it had driver version 16.6.4.27 installed and tapping worked as expected.  After updating to driver version 18.0.7.99 tapping also worked.
Which driver version did you receive from SystemUpdate?

  • I accidentally unchecked "Tap to Click" on the Trackpad preferences and now I can't click on anything!

I accidentally unchecked "Tap to Click" on the Trackpad preferences and now I can't click on anything!

It happens to me ALL THE TIME. I'm getting pretty sick of this! It didn't start happening until maybe a month ago. I'm pretty fed up though!
And NOW. This is great. Ever since installing iLife 09 my keyboard randomly stops working. Sometimes I can bring it back by closing the display and then opening it again.
The crazy thing is that these issues are TOTALLY random. I've been on here for hours and nothing has gone wrong. Then out of no where...with no other applications run or doing ANYTHING I haven't been doing for hours...it all starts to go wrong. First it's tap-to-click in this pattern of working-not-working. Then it's the keyboard goes crazy.
I'm doing a large backup of everything at the moment. Then I plan on running disk utility from the installer disks and see if that helps. If it doesn't I'm uninstalling iLife 09 to start with and after that i don't know what.
I'm just REALLY tired of this!
