Satellite A350-13D - Can I install Vista 64bit?

Hi
(excuse me, I can't speak english very well, sorry if I write with faults)
3 days ago, I bought an Toshiba Satellite A350-13D. It has 4GB RAM, but Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit is installed. The computer can use only 3GB.
Can I install Vista Home Premium 64 Bit to use the totality of RAM (4GB)? Where can I download the driver for my computer?
Thanks for your help :)
Have a nice day

Hi!
Of course you can I install Windows Vista 64bit Why not? What do you think?
On the Toshiba website I can find all drivers for Vista 64bit on Satellite A350 so it should all working properly with Vista 64. Check it yourself:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers
But note there are two different BIOS versions available One for 32bit and one for 64bit. After installing Vista 64bit you must update the BIOS too.

  • Satellite A200-1CR: Can I install Vista using my Vista installations DVD?

    Hi
I would like to have some answers in my questions......
I have satellite A200-1CR (PSAE0) and I want to install vista on my own....not with the recovery DVD but I have some serious questions....
    1) May I have problems during installation....(SATA drivers, etc) ,problems with BIOS or Toshiba has no such restrictions?
    2) Is it problem if I erase the secret partition (winre) and what is its use?
    3) If I do a clean install with my DVD with my vista....if I want in the near future can I use the recovery DVD I have got or not?
    4) In drivers section for my laptop for each part has 5,6,7 either 8 drivers for win vista...which one is the proper or it's all the same?
    5) In general what do you suggest? Are there any reasons why not to do my format??? I have done a lot of formats in desktop but never in laptops.
Sorry if tired you with my questions, and sometimes my bad English....
    Thank you in advance........

    Hi
I think I can answer some questions lets start with
    > 1) Vista DVD has SATA drivers but WXP doesn't. Do you think the possibility not to recognize the HDD is high? I can't understand where you mean to install the HDD drivers.....
As Gipsyman already posted you need the Intel Matrix Storage Manger. If you use the XP then this driver must be installed from the external USB floppy disk drive. You have to put the sata driver on the diskette and should include the SATA driver while the
Windows XP setup is running. I think you have to press F6 to include the driver.
But if you dont have a external USB floppy drive then you could create an own XP CD with the SATA driver. To create a new XP CD you need the freeware tool called nLite (google for details).
If you want to install Vista then you could include the SATA driver from the USB stick.
By the way; this forum provides more as enough details about Intel Matrix Storage Manger and nLite. Use the search option!!!

  • Re: Satellite X200-22E - Can I use Vista 64bit BIOS for Windows 7?

    Hello!
Can I use the Vista-64 bit BIOS-Update 2.50 for my Satellite X200-22E? I just installed Windows 7 HOME PREMIUM 64 bit and it works fine.
Before this I had XP-32 bit running.
    Thank you in advance!
    Tom

I have a X200-20S and am running Windows 7 64bit with BIOS Ver 2.5 for 32bit Vista. If I try to install ver 2.5 for 64bit Vista I get an error message which tells me the ROM image is identical to the one already installed!!! I can only assume that the installer software can't distinguish beteen the 32 and 64bit versions? Not sure what the difference is but I haven't had any problems with Windows 7 so far apart from the subwoofer not working.

  • Satellite A200-TR6 - Can't install Vista SP1

I've got Windows Update set to automatically install any updates, but it's failing on installing SP1. Specifically, I've had SP1 in my "Pending Updates" folder for a few months now, but it never installs. When I try and do it manually (as in by selecting "Install Now"), it goes through most of the process, and then says that it has failed and will try again. It then restarts, tries to install it again, and after about 45 minutes reports that it can't.
I recall reading somewhere that it was caused by an incompatibility with the driver for the built-in webcam, but there were never any solutions presented. Any ideas?

  • Satellite Pro A200 - Is there any way I can re-install Vista?

    Hi,
I bought an A200 a couple of years ago pre-installed with Vista Home Premium.
Recently I got a virus and had to re-install windows which I tried unsuccessfully from the recovery disks I had made from the Toshiba recovery programme. After several attempts I decided to install Ubuntu 9.1 instead, which I have been happy with, however certain features, such as no sound through HDMI, have not worked so I would like to re-install Vista.
I believe the install files for the pre-installed Vista are on a partition somewhere on my A200.
Is there any way I can re-install Vista?
    Thanks

    Hi Sched7,
There is no recovery partition on Toshiba notebooks. Only a folder with an image is stored on the second partition but as MisterX wrote, if this would be available its too late now since you installed Ubuntu
In your case I would try the recovery disk again. I noticed also a problem with the disk after I had a virus. I had to wipe the whole HDD first by using Microsoft disk. After this I tried the recovery disk again on a clean HDD and it successful!!!
In worst case you have to install Vista from a Microsoft disk. You can download all drivers and tools on the Toshiba website.

  • Satellite A350-13D - Brightness slider suddenly gone

    Hi,
I've got a toshiba satellite a350-13d, with windows 7, installed it long ago, worked perfectly apart from FN keys functioning. However that was not my problem, as I could change screen brightness with the slider provided by windows...
But... All of a sudden, my brightness slider is gone. I didn't install any new drivers, windows stopped showing me the opportunity to change the screen brightness (clicking on that battery status icon in the traybar it used to say "change screen brightness", and if i click on "more options" it's gone too). Does anyone have a fix for this?
I previously installed all drivers from the toshiba website, so that should not be the problem.
    Thanks,
    Koen

    Hi
Strange possibly its registry issue or something like that
Can you change the display brightness here:
Control Panel -> All control panel items -> Display -> Adjust brightness (on the left)
Otherwise you could try to get the FN buttons working.
For that you need the Win 7 VAP (value added package) and Toshiba Flash Card utility for Win 7.
I found the Toshiba Flash Card utility for Win 7 on the Toshiba European driver page in Satellite L500 download areas

  • Does anyone here know how to install vista 64bit on MBP C2D?

Just ordered a 17" today. Wanna know if I can install vista 64bit on it?
    thanks,
    m.j

It runs fine and pretty fast. Drivers are a problems, can't seem to find any. I am about to delete it though cause its useless. I just partitioned with boot camp and then popped in the Vista 64 bit CD and it installed it self. took about 30 to 40 minutes. it does look nice though but the warning pop ups are very annoying and will at a certain point drive you crazy.
    good luck

  • Satellite X200-245 can i install a second HDD

    on satellite X200-245 : can i install a second hard drive ?
    is it possible ?
There is a place for it but no sata connection on the mother board where can i find this connector

No you cannot install the second HDD because there is no HDD connector which would allows to connect the HDD to the mobo.
And No, its not possible to upgrade the mobo with such connector.
The X200 has the two HDD bays because some X200 support 2 HDDs and some dont support it.
Your X200 doesnt support 2 HDD

  • Satellite L350 - Can't install Vista and how can I backup my data?

    Hi to all
I have a Satellite L350 and recently I've installed Vista Home Premium in a different language (the OEM Vista was in English) hoping I could activate it with the OEM key, but I didn't succeed.
When I wanted to re-install the OEM Vista from WinRE I realized I can't access it and then I had a "brilliant" idea that if format the C partition with the Acronis Disc Director it would boot from WinRE. It didn't.
Fortunately Ive burned the recovery discs before. The only problem is that the recovery disc formats the entire HDD and I have data on the second partition I've would like to retrieve.
I tried to install again the retail Vista to backup the data from the second partition (yes, I'm an idiot, I didn't do it before) but it stops after the first reboot. I get a black screen with a low dash blinking.
I really need that data, please help!

    Hi!
I can tell you why you cant install a retail version of Vista by using the product key. This is pretty easy because the key on the bottom side on the notebook belongs to the preinstalled OEM version and cant be used by a retail version.
However, I think the best way to backup your data would be that you put the HDD in an external HDD case and then you can backup your data on another PC or notebook.
Such external HDD cases are not expensive but very useful.

  • Satellite C50-B-13D - Can not install display driver

    Hello,
I have a notebook Toshiba Satellite C50-B-13D. I had to reinstall my Windows 7 Professional 32 Bit OS. Now i have a problem with the drivers. For example i can not install the display driver. After i give permission to make changes on my computer the Error message "This computer does not meet the minimum requierments to install this software. Does anybody know what i can do?

So you need to install the Intel HD 4000 display driver.
Usually you have two possibilities to install the driver.
You can execute the installation.exe (setup.exe) file or you will install the driver within the device manager. I recommend you to choose the 2nd option in case the standard procedure does functions.
The driver from Toshiba EU driver page has to be unzipped.
Within the display-20140528122046 folder you would find the TC40214900E.exe
This is an zipped folder. Click right on this file and choose “unzip here”.
Now you will get another TC40214900E folder where you would find all the driver files (dll).
Next step: go to device manager, choose graphic card and click update/install driver
Now choose the “Advanced” installation option and point to the unzipped driver folder.
The system will pick up the files automatically and you could finish the installation.
    That’s it.
    Hello
I have same problem and can i use mentioned driver "TC40214900E.exe"? my notebooks model is satellite C55-B5201

I bought this laptop from a trusted auction, not on the net, with the password attached unfortunately this password dont work, but the auction house clams it does,
What is happening is when I turn it on the first screen you see wants a password, I put in the so called password that was given to me but it wont work. When I try to get into the BIOS setup it still wants the password before I can continue.
This computer is using Vista and I cant even put the Vista disk back in because the DVD drive wont work because the op system has not booted
I hope some one knows how to by pass the password or can help me. I have tried removing the internal battery but no go, my email is [email protected] if you want me to explain things better
    Thanks to every one
    Col

    Hi Col!
These are not so good news
Im not a Satellite A350 owner but if you want to remove the password you should contact an ASP and ask for help. The notebook technicians are know how to remove the password and so I think they can help you at best.
On the Toshiba website you can search for an ASP:

  • Satellite A500 - How to switch from Vista 64bit to 32bit?

    Hei guys,
I recently purchased my new A500-14c Series and installed the Vista 64bit version. What happens is that later I found out that a USB sound card that I use doesnt have vista64 drivers yet, so I wanted to re-install the SO and choose Vista 32 this time.
I was wondering how I can do that? Can I just create the recovery DVDs using Toshiba Recovery? Will that ask me what SO I want to install or will it just restore the current version?
What other methods can I try? My computer didnt bring any DVDs, so I assume that both SO instalations are still stored on the HDD. I just dont know where or what to do to use them.

    > I recently purchased my new A500-14c Series and installed the Vista 64bit version
I assume you have formatted the whole HDD during the Vista 64bit installation.
    Is it right?
If yes then you would be not able to get the Vista 32bit OS back because you didnt create the recovery disk before the vista 64bit OS installation.
The Toshiba notebooks are equipped with the tool called Toshiba Recovery disk creator.
This tool allows you to create the recovery disk which would help you to set the notebook back to the factory settings.
If you dont have such disk and if you are not able to create it then you could order it from this page:

  • Satellite U500-10N - Can I install Windows XP?

    Hello,
I have bought Satellite U500-10N and it has Vista but I want to install XP, is it possible?
My plan is to back up all my files, and then put installation CD of XP, delete all files of Vista and record fresh new copy of XP. And then install all nessesery drivers for my laptop to functional normal? Is it possible? :\ I
'm afraid if I install XP than some function on my laptop will not work.
I'm looking for help, plz if anyone know something i will be grateful

    Hi
Theoretically you can install Windows XP, why not? ;)
But I dont understand why you want to use such an old operating system. I mean the Satellite U500 is really fast enough for Vista and in few days Windows 7 is the present. You should be happy with your preinstalled Vista version that should run well.
The point is that Toshiba doesnt offer drivers for U500 and XP so you have to collect all drivers yourself on the Internet that takes a lot of time. Furthermore I think some special functions like the FN keys will not work because there you can only get a driver from Toshiba.
Its your choice what you do but I would wait for Windows 7 if you dont like Vista Satellite U500 should also support Windows 7.

  • P45D3 Platinum, Can't install vista

    Hello.
1st: Sorry for my bad English, I'm Hungarian, and I can speak German better.
    So. I changed my E6420 to Q9550, and my 3870 to MSI R4870X2 T2D2G-OC. I purchased a SAMSUNG 1Tera HDD too.
I can install Vista with E6420, 4870x2 and the HDD, but if I change the CPU, Vista crashes (blue screen). I think i have to Reinstall Vista.
With E6420, I can install it, but with the Q9550 it stopps at the end of "Windows is loading files..." It says, it can't load winloader.exec (or other files)
When it doesn't stoppers, I see the installer background and the mouse, but nothing happens then. 10 minutes and still background and mouse.
1 time it went long, but it makes a blue screen.
I think, it's a Hardware problem. I changed anything, I try ed an other Q9550, but the same.
Can it be because of wrong BIOS settings?
    What I did:
    - Changed VGA
    - Changed HDD
    - Changed ODD (IDE-> SATA)
    - Other Vista installer
    - Upgrade BIOS to 1.6
Power supply is 750W Chieftec, CPU is near 46°C. RAMs: 4*1GB PQI DDR3 1333MHz
    Thanks, and greetings from Hungary
!! Vista will be 64bit version

I made it, Installer says: "Extracting files (58%)" then blue screen.
Now I'm trying to change the RAM-s, Firstly with the first 2, Secondly the last 2 one. RAM-s can be...
Now working, with one RAM module. one of them (or two) are . I will catch it. Thx.
