Satellite A350-20Q - WEBCAM FAILED or is DISABLED

Can anyone help me to get my webcam back?
Went on one of those geek websites which tells you how to make your computer run faster, by disabling things youre not using. Cant remember what I've done but webcam doesnt work anymore. Tried reinstalling Drivers and rebooting Camera Assist Software but the same message comes up every time - "WEBCAM FAILED or is DISABLED".
Would appreciate any help or advice before I have to pay the local computer shop to sort it out.

Somehow the operating system cannot detect the cam.
What you can try is to test it with factory settings. If the same will happen again I presume it is hardware related issue. Webcam can be defective or it is not connected properly to the mainboard.

  • Satellite A350-20Q - Illumination media keys have gone dark

I bought a Satellite a350-20Q laptop about two weeks ago and the media keys above the keyboard have seemed to have gone darker than when i first had it.
I have checked using the HWSetup and it says they are definitely illuminated.
    Has anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks for the help but i think it is a different problem than the lighting being enabled or disabled, if i gently press down on the keys then they become brighter so I am guessing that either the lighting has physically fallen down or that the buttons themselves have physically moved upwards for some reason.
Thanks for the help but i think i will just go and get it fixed or replaced.

  • Satellite L350-277 - Webcam failing to initialize

I am still having a problem with my webcam on the above laptop. It did work when I first bought the laptop, but for some reason it is now failing to initialize.
I have posted before and was advised to download drivers.
I have done this but it still wont work.
Anyone got anymore suggestions or do I have to take laptop back to shop?
    Jan

    Hi
Khalid....... when I first had the laptop in January the webcam worked. Now when I login I have a popup that says webcam failed to initialize please restart the programme? I can't find the programme. My husband who is really good with computers has looked and even he cant find how to fix this. I did restore my laptop back to factory settings as someone else suggested to me and it still doesn't work. I have gone to Toshiba website and downloaded drivers etc, still getting same message, therefore I am not getting anything at all!
Akuma....when I first had laptop the webcam worked with Windows Live Messenger. I don't have Yahoo Messenger and I did use Skype for a while but since restoring laptop back to factory settings have not downloaded it.
I bought the laptop with Windows 7 installed. All the programmes you asked if I have that might clash are in my list of programmes as what Windows 7 recommend.

  • How To Order New AC Power Supply for Satellite A350-20Q?

    Hi,
I bought my Satelite A350-20Q 2 1/2 yeras ago, and when I turned on my laptop the screen was dim, the power supply was already plugged in but it did not make any change. How can order a replacement?
    Thanks

According notebook specification AC power supply for your notebook has part number PA3290E-3AC3. I dont know where do you live but Googling around and using this part number as search term you will, I hope, find enough online stores where you can order new AC adapter.
You can also contact nearest Toshiba service provider and ask them to order it for you.

  • Satellite A300-1G5: webcam stopped working - Webcam driver open fail

    Hi
    my laptop specifcation here : ( [A300 - 1G5|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=EU&com.broadvis ion.session.new=Yes&PRODUCT_ID=1055589] ) for any needed details ..
The problem simply is, the webcam stopped working for some reason, an error messeage says "Webcam driver open fail. Please restart camera or computer".
I noticed that whenever I put the computer in sleep mode I was getting on the icon tray a notification says "USB device unrecognized"... I wasnt aware what it was - thought it becasue of the USB mouse being plugged... but I think its related to the camera...
software is installed but camera is not working and cant enable it .. I did download the latest driver from toshiba site , but still not working ...
Currently my laptop runs Vista HP SP2 32-bit, Windows defender enabled, Windows Firewall Enabled, Windows UAC enabled, Kaspersky Ani-Virus 2009 Enabled. I only use Windows Live Messenger (which up to date I think , version : 14.0.8089.726) which i used camera with, I quite using face recognition long time ago and rarely use the webcam ... I didnt install or update any drivers and used to have the laptop running perfectly..
    So what happened now ?!

    Hi
I have had a similar error message and could solve this by disabling the webcam software from startup.
In msconfig -> Start Up tab I have unchecked the Chicony webcam software.
This prevents it from automatic loading.
I dont use MSN but Skype and the Chicony webcam software is always disabled (not executed) if Skype is running.
Maybe you should try this too.
    Furthermore you could try this:
Go to device manager, mark the webcam (imaging devices USB video device) and deleted it from the device list.
Then reboot the notebook and wait until the webcam has been recognized again.
    Then test it.

  • Satellite A350 - Display driver stopped responding and has recovered

    Hi guys
I am new to the forum
My Satellite A350 has recovered 3 times from this message above and each time I saw the blue screen.
I have checked that my BIOS driver is up to date by doing a Microsoft check of the driver.
The thing that I have done differently recently is that I attached a second monitor for study purposes as an extra reading screen...and I am wondering if this has caused the driver to fail and that I should not use it anymore (or for short periods only??)
    Thanks for helping me :)

    thank you :)
i agree that the virtual way is difficult - i appreciate your comments though.
if i had to install the display driver again, how do i know which display driver to find and what it's name is?
in the past 24 hours there have been no problems but i have shut the lid when not using the note book and it powers down. (powers up again when I open the lid)
I do have the original discs i made when i first set up the note book from new (and i do back up very regularly.) are these the recovery images that you are referring to?
i do not have 2 HDD but do have the SATA connector but have never connected it to a second HDD. i have used it at times to plug in a memory stick though. why do you ask as used it recently?

  • Memory upgrade on Satellite A350-10I

I have a Toshiba satellite A350 10I.I would like to expand the memory RAM which is 2x2Gb ddr2 800MHz.
Can be changed with ddr3?The motherboard will support?

I've thought about doing this and I have seen that there is a space for a second hard drive. But there is no connector on the motherboard to plug another one.Perhaps for this series is not provided.
Do you know if this model has mSATA connector?I have seen on the web that there mSATA SSD.

  • HDD and memory upgrade on Satellite A350

    Hi All
I have a satellite a350 laptop can anyone tell me whats the biggest harddrive I can have and memory please
    Thanks

    Hi
The RAM upgrade depends on the available chipset.
Not quite sure about your A350-xxx model but many of the Sat A350 notebooks were quipped with an Intel GM45 Express chipset and in such case you could upgrade the memory max up to 8GB RAM
Regarding the HDD: This notebook supports SATA HDD. This mean that you are not limited to an special size.
Theoretically it could be possible to use 500GB, 750GB 2.5 SATA HDDs

  • Satellite A350-13B - OpenGL and Radeon HD3650

    Hi
My laptop is Satellite A350-13B with ATI Mobility Radeon HD3650.
    I found that I have OpenGL 1.1 (7/7) and partially 1.2 (1/8).
I installed latest drivers from ATI site, modded with Mobility Modder (also tried drivers from Toshiba's site - without results).
I found that modded drivers require OpenGL patch to have it working.
    You have to add:
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\OpenGLDrivers\ati2dvag
    "Version"="2" %REG_DWORD%
    "DriverVersion"="1" %REG_DWORD%
    "Flags"="1" %REG_DWORD%
    "Dll"="atioglxx.dll" %REG_SZ%
But after it OpenGL Extensions Viewer see the same values (1.1 and partially 1.2).
How is it possible to check highest OpenGl version available and make it working?
I have a file called atioglxx.dll in Windows\System32 and registry entries specified above, but OpenGL Extensions Viewer says:

I dont know how to this but please note that Toshiba supports own drivers only. When you install driver directly from ATI you are on your own and it has nothing to do with Toshiba.
It is also recommended to use Toshiba drivers only.

  • Issues with CD/DVD drive on Satellite A350-12D

    Hi,
I just bought my Toshiba Satellite A350-12D laptop two weeks ago, and am generally pleased with it, however I cannot get it to read data-DVD's properly.
When I try to read a data DVD that I burned on my desktop PC, the laptop starts to read but takes very, very, very long.
When I try to copy the data on the DVD to my laptop, it takes forever (I've tried once for 45 minutes and then gave up) and after a while it starts claiming it can't read most of the files on the DVD.
It's not the data on the disks that's causing problems, cause when I transfer those from my desktop to my laptop on a USB stick instead of a DVD, the files are copied immediately without a problem.
At first I figured it might be due to the DVD disks themselves (I use TDK DVD+ROM), or maybe Vista was the culprit, but I've tried the exact same disks on my friend's Medion laptop that's also running Vista and she's having no issues whatsoever.
Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this or better yet, what could solve it?
    Thanks in advance!
    Eva

    > When I try to read a data DVD that I burned on my desktop PC, the laptop starts to read but takes very, very, very long.
Hmm I think this could be a problem of non-fully compatible DVDs.
My notebooks drive couldnt read or write some DVDs from different manufacturers.
I tested many disks and now Im using TDK DVD-R.
But its always different. Possibly your drive would not support this disk properly but another disk would be supported better
I think you should test it simply. There are many different disk manufacturers so dont give up buddy

  • Black screen after login on Satellite L350-20Q (normal mode)

My Satellite L350-20Q run Vista basic.
After login that is normal I go to the turning arrow then to a permanent black screen when I start in normal mode.
In safe mode I have a normal behaviour and I can work. Spybot report no malware present. But my Avast antivirus does not seems to work in safe mode.
Do you have any idea of this problem ?
A fellow has advised me to update my graphic drivers which is presently Intel Corporation 12/06/2008 version 7.15.10.I502 for Mobile Intel 4 series express chipset family. What is the URL and the filename to download the most recent driver ?
Message was edited by: nigelle normal mode added in title.

    1) I have already done a roll back but without success
    2) total reinitialisation and updates is a long and tedious process I wish to avoid if possible.
Downloading and installing a new driver is fast so I prefer to try this before even if the probability of improvement is low. Where can I find the driver for graphic ?
    3) I bought this lap top in June and Win7 was released in September or October.
All manufacturers had promised a free update to Win7.
But after the release of Win7 my laptop was not in the eligible list may be only because it ran on Vista basic and they were not Win7 basic and Toshiba did not want to pay for the upgrade...
    Not very honest !
I dared not to buy a Win7 license because I think that Win on a laptop is a slightly modified version.

  • Satellite A350 - How can I remove the password?

    Hi every one
I am Col and I have just joint the site
I have a problem with my Satellite A350
I bought this laptop from a trusted auction, not on the net, with the password attached unfortunately this password dont work, but the auction house clams it does,
What is happening is when I turn it on the first screen you see wants a password, I put in the so called password that was given to me but it wont work. When I try to get into the BIOS setup it still wants the password before I can continue.
This computer is using Vista and I cant even put the Vista disk back in because the DVD drive wont work because the op system has not booted
I hope some one knows how to by pass the password or can help me. I have tried removing the internal battery but no go, my email is [email protected] if you want me to explain things better
    Thanks to every one
    Col

    Hi Col!
These are not so good news
Im not a Satellite A350 owner but if you want to remove the password you should contact an ASP and ask for help. The notebook technicians are know how to remove the password and so I think they can help you at best.
On the Toshiba website you can search for an ASP:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Find an authorized service provider

  • Satellite A350-07C - How to transfer movies from camcorder?

Hi Everyone. Just wanted to know if anyone knows how I can upload movies from my Sony DCR-TRV19E that has USB and DV iLink slots into my Toshiba Satellite A350/07C?
My understanding is that Sony does not support USB drivers for Windows Vista and 7 (and why not!?) which leaves me the Firewire which in this case is the iLink (DV) slot on the camcorder. Where do I stick this in the Toshiba? Does my Toshiba have a different look Firewire? I know that in my Device Manager I have something that is called ieee 1394 OHCI Complient. But where excatly is it on my model? Is it the little slot on the left that looks like the DV of my camcorder (it has a lable on the top that says EX on it)?
Or is it through the PCI card slot that is on the left side (that also says on it EX)?
    Please help me?

i have good experience with Sony camcorder and I can recommend you to use firewire cable.
You are right this is this small DV interface. On your notebook there should be the same on the left notebook side.
It is the first port placed near the USB port.
Both devices have small 4 pin slot so buy right 4 to 4 pin cable.
When you connect the cam just switch it and it should be recognized automatically.
If you need more help let me know.

  • Adding a second internal HDD on a Satellite A350-20s

    I have a Satellite A350-20s.
It is described in its documentation as having the option to add a second internal 2"5 hdd, and a indeed there is a place reserved for it..
The problem is that when I remove the cover to insert the hdd there is no connector.
So, how to do it ?

    Hi buddy,
Well, I have even checked the manual of my Satellite A350 and there you can see that the manual shows second HDD slot. But as Paolo30 wrote installing such a HDD is depending on the HDD controller You can only install such a HDD if you have a second HDD connector.
In my opinion all its ok because the manual doesnt mention that adding a second HDD is possible on every notebook. ;)
By the way: If you need more disk space you can use an external HDD, for example 2.5 one. Such HDDs dont need an additional power supply, you need only an USB cable to connect it. ;)
