Hey ppl,
Ive a big trouble... I own Toshiba Satellite A50-109.
Ive formatted it, and after formatting I realized that Ive lost my recovery cd and now I can't find drivers on toshiba-europe.com web site
Sat A50 it's not even listed...
Can anybody help me with link or something please! i really need this

The Satellite A50 drivers are definitely on the Toshiba European driver page.
You didnt search exactly!
You have to look into the Archive folder.
So choose ARCHIVE -> Satellite Archive -> Satellite A -> Satellite A50

Satellite A50-109: CD burn completes successfully but disk is blank!

After working fine for a year i get this funny behavior from my CD burner:
Burning process completes seccessfully but disk is blank.
I am using a Satellite notebook model A50-109 with winXP pro sp2 installed.
Toshiba driver is recognized by XP, and all seems to work well except disk is always blank.
This phenomena is the same while using XP's original burner or Nero.
Seems to me then, like a hardware failure.
Am i right?
Is there a way to check hardware before applying to service provider?

I have an A60 and met the same problem the other day. I haven't burnt a CD for quite some time and when I tried it last week, the program which came with the notebook (RecordNow!) says there was an error, but it wouldn't say anything specific. When I tried it again, it stopped right after the writing started, and there was nothing on either CD. I simply cannot believe that it is a hardware failure, I mean, I hardly used it for burning (ca. 8 times in 2 years).

Satellite A135-S4527 - Drivers needed & Function Keys do not work

I have a Satellite A135-S4527. But, when I got this computer it was without a recovery disk / Vista Reinstall Disk and the Vista OS that was installed was a bloated mess - it was highly used by a individual of lesser intellect. Anyway, I decided to take out that Hard Drive and put in my SSD with Windows XP Professional SP3.
Thats when the problems started rolling in. Turns out Toshiba does not support Windows XP Operating System - I checked the site and was surprised to see a complete lack of support for Windows XP ( even though Windows XP is the dominant OS and was even more so when this laptop was made).
I managed to get the drivers installed, for everything but the modem. Easiest to find drivers were from Intel for the Chipset / Motherboard and the Legacy Graphical Processing Unit. The thing is, I am not sure whether or not these are the official drivers and I am completely lost on the drivers for the modem. Any idea where I can acquire the -latest and greatest- drivers for all my components?
Also there are a few problems,
- Function Keys For Brightness Do Nothing
- Laptop sometimes does not come out of sleep mode
What can I do about the brightness keys? The monitor is sometimes a bit too bright to be comfortable to use. Yet I am having no luck making those keys actually do anything.
Any help appreciated.

From my knowledge this must be a Toshiba US notebook series.
Therefore I visited the Toshiba US driver page to check the driver availability.
And guess what? I found it but unfortunately there are no many Win XP drivers.
There are Vista and Win 7 drivers available but no Win XP.
I guess that this is everything what is available for Win XP.
So what to do????
I think you should try to install the missing tools which are released for other notebook series; for example A105-Sxxxxxx
Maybe you will get the driver working
Lets hope. Otherwise you will have to use the notebook without such functions

Satellite A55-S1064 drivers needed

Need modem, video,sound,ethernet drivers. Have tried Toshiba web site no luck.

Pls try to double check under downloads tab for this particular model in the support.toshiba.com website as the drivers are all there.
You might wanna download other useful utilities for the model as well to get all the functionality and features of your notebook.

Satellite P20-221: Drivers needed for Windows 7

Hi,
i would like to have windows 7 on my P20-221 but i just need few drivers to do that.
In the first time, can i update my Bios ?
In a second time, where i can find some toshiba programs (like touch key) compatible with windows 7
And at last, i just have 4 drivers problems (controler IEEE 1394, modem pci, and 2 unknown peripherics).

The P20 is an oldie and the Win 7 drivers are not released officially for this notebook.
I didnt find any on the Toshiba European driver page
So I assume you will need to search for such drivers at your own hand.
Tip: try to install Win 7 VAP (value added package) and Flash Card Support Utility which are released for newer notebook series like L500 or newer. Usually such tools are not notebook model related so maybe you could download and install this on this P20.

Satellite A50-109: Drive handles CDs but not DVDs

Sorry but your posting does not give us enough info for better problem understanding. Which DVDs you mean? Are you writing about original DVD movies or some self created movies, copies or what?
Please test it with different content (movies, saved files and so on) and let us know what happen exactly.

Need XP Drivers for Windows XP on Satellite A50-110

Please help! I've look all over for my model (SA50-110) on Toshiba's
website but it's as if they never made this model. I googled it and found where someone needed help loadking the DVD drivers. Can someone tell me where to go to get drivers or what model is equivalent to my SA50-110?

If you need drivers for your notebook you must search in the *Archive* on the Toshiba website:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers
Archive => Satellite => Satellite A Series => Satellite A50
Normally you dont need drivers for the DVD drive. Its a part from the OS (operating system) and you must not install such drivers.

You have several ways to find out what memory module is compatible and supported.
You can use a diagnostic too like Everest, you will check the user manual or the Toshiba website for details or you will contact the service in your country for supported modules.
I will try to answer the question: The Satellite A50 should support PC2700 DDR-RAM like these parts:

Which battery packs are compatible to the one in Satellite A50-110?

Dear all,
I have a Satellita SA50-110 and realise that I need to urgently replace the battery pack, and of course I would like to upgrade, if I already have to invest, from 4400mAh to maybe 6600 or even 8800mAh. However, when I browse the various online shops, I can not find any offers for my Laptop model SA50-110, which appears to be somewhat exotic for some reason unknown to me. Instead, I find lots of offers for other models, like for the SA50-100 or -105.
If I search for the battery specification (PA3356U-2BRS), I have similar problems finding a proper replacement.
Can somebody help me here? Can I buy e.g. the battery pack for a 100, will that fit to the 110? The thumbnails I found look quite promising, but of course I can't rely on that impression.
Can I find somewhere out there a listing on which battery packs are compatible to PA3356U-2BRS?

You don't have exotic notebook but the model description is not SA50 but Satellite A50. To find info about compatible options is very easy and you can get it in one minute only.
Please visit http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Peripherals & Services > Options & Accessories > Options and Accessories Home Page. There you can select your notebook model Satellite A50-110 and see all power options with full list of all compatible batteries.

First of all you need a need a 2.5 notebook HDD with PATA or lets say IDE interface. If I understand your posting correctly you want to use a 160GB model.
As far as I know Satellite A50 has a 28bit LBA limitation. That means you can only use HDDs up to 120GB.
So you should check the HDD controller which LBA limitation it has.
Is 120GB HDD enough for you?

The CMOS battery replacement on the notebooks is not so easy like on desktops. If you want to do it alone you must disassemble the notebook and you should not do it if you have no experience with it. Before you do it alone please contact your local dealer or service and ask how much the replacement costs.
Believe me a small mistake can be responsible that the unit dont starts any more and then you can have a real problem. If you want to do it alone and on your own risk post again.

How to set BIOS for USB boot on Satellite A50-110?

I own a Toshiba Satellite A50-110 and I have a bootable USB flash drive, but I don`t know how to boot from this USB drive.
I suppose I need to access and configure BIOS. How can I do it? Where do I get information about this? What are the steps to complete this task?

As far as I know in BIOS cannot be configured anything. As far as I now on this old notebook you can use just USB floppy disc drive for boot up (press U key at start up) but not USB flash drive.
Enter BIOS settings with ESC key at the start up and check all listed bootable devices.

Slow USB on Satellite A50 after format

I hope somebody here can help me...
After some years of collecting 'garbage' on my Satellite A50, today I decided to format the harddrive and start with a clean install of Windows XP.
Before this I had both a wireless network and an external harddisk connected via USB and both worked just fine.
Now, after the clean install, Windows keeps telling me I have fast USB hardware connected to slow USB ports and under 'Hardware' there is an USB-controller which is not properly installed. However I can not find correct drivers for it anywhere!
I know it must be possible to update the USB to 2.0 because up till yesterday everything worked just fine.
Can anyone help me please?

Did you install the whole MS updates??
My brother has had a same problem. He has connected a scanner to the computer and the message has appeared because of the USB 2.0 issue.
He asks me for a help. I have updated simply the WinXP, installed all QFEs and service packs.
This was the key
Check it.
By the way; please be sure that the chipset utility was installed

Satellite A50 Wireless keep dropping

i am currently having toshiba satellite A50. the wireless card is the 2100 B and the problem is the wireless keep disconnect and reconnect . not very stable, any help will be appreciate thank you.

It is not easy to explain why this happen but there can be many responsible
