Satellite A500-1GL - Display driver update

Recently l have been having issues with an online game and latency.
As part of the support l received they pointed out that my display driver is old and that there are more up to date ones on the NVIDIA site.
However from looking on Toshiba they still list the driver as being the one from 2010 which l have installed.
Can any one please advise me,
Can l update the driver from NVIDIA?
Or does it have to be the Toshiba one that l currently have from 2010?
If l can do the NVIDIA one can any one guide me through how l go about doing it?
(the card is a GeForce GT 330M card)
Many thanks for any help :)

Here is a thread about the similar theme:
http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=74123
The point is that nVidia or ATI drivers can be installed but only at your own risk and this requires an Advanced installation procedure via device manager.
But I found out that different Toshiba notebooks were equipped with the same graphic chip.
For example:
+Sat A660 PSAW3E+
+Sat A665 PSAW3E+
+Sat P500 PSPGSE+
Usually the graphic driver released for these models should be compatible with you A500 model
Try it out

I've updated the drivers directly from Nvidia, as I have the Geforce GT 330M, this has stopped the error message from appearing, but the screen still goes blank. Does anyone have any ideas how to solve this?
Also, a seperate little question, sometimes my laptop will automatically resume from hibernation (I don't use sleep mode) when I open the lid, without pressing the power button. However, most of the time this will not happen, and I have to press the power button instead. Why will the computer do this sometimes, but not others? Can anyone tell me how to get the laptop to turn on by just opening the lid, 100% of the time?
    Thank you for your advice.

    Hi
    Regarding the black screen issue;
You used the driver from nVidia this is not advisable due to the missing overheating protection. You should use the driver from the Toshiba page.
Please check also if the BIOS is up to date.
If newer BIOS is available, please update this I read in some threads that this could help to solve such issues
    Regarding the automatically resume from hibernation;
You should check in BIOS if the Wake up on LAN and Wake up on keyboard options are disabled. If both or only one is enabled, then disabled this, save the changes in BIOS and reboot the unit
    Good luck

  • Satellite A500-1GH - display driver stopped responding and has successfully

My laptop is the A500-1GH and I bought it 2 days ago...
My problem is that for the fourth time the monitor went black and then recovered and I'm getting the message "display driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered". My graphics card is the Nvidia GeForce 330.
I would appreciate it if someone knows what should I do to fix this
    Thank you in advance

    Hi Guys,
I have experienced _*both*_ problems with my A500/O2J with the NVIDIA GeForce GT 330m graphics card. Only purchased it Monday 15th February. Everything came factory installed except Office Professional 2007.
Set it up on Tuesday and it happened within 2 hours of set up, then again on the Wednesday. On the first 2 occurrances the display went black and recovered after a few seconds with a message along the lines of "graphic card driver has stopped responding and has successfully restored" then today (Friday 19/2) the screen went black and didn't come back on. I thought it had gone in to sleep mode but pressing the power button did nothing. After about 20 minutes I got the Blue Screen saying the system was shutting down to prevent unecessary damage and it then proceeded to restart.
I'm computer illiterate when it comes to this technical stuff and rang the place of purchase who told me to ring Toshiba (133 070). Of course being in the West they are closed so I will have to wait until Monday (1st day back at Uni).
Not off to a good start....so i hope this problem can be rectifed quickly and without too much fuss.
    My computer specs are as follows;
    A500/O2J
    Intel Core i5 processor
Windows 7 Home premium (32 bit)
    4GB memory
    500Gb Sata storage
    NVidia GeForce GT 330M graphics
    Karmon/Kardon speakers
Everything came factory pre-installed except printer and Office Professional 2007 but both were installed after the problem occured the first time.

  • Re: Satellite C660 - (PSC0QE) display driver update

    Hello all you wonderful people.
I'm writing this post to inquire as to why the display driver for this model hasn't been updated since 2010?
I have been playing a favourite game of mine (Civilization V) on this model. They updated the game with a patch in November and the computer can no longer display the graphics properly because of the old drivers.
I've done my research on the gaming forums to try and fix this and after looking at my dxdiag its become clear that the drivers are out of date. I've been on the Intel website and they have updated drivers for the card (Intel(R) HD graphics), I've downloaded these drivers however the laptop will not install them unless they are Toshiba verified? My questions are..
Why does Toshiba stop me from installing these drivers from Intel's website?
    and
How do I get round all this Pfaff and update my graphics drivers?
    Many thanks
    Tom

    > I've downloaded these drivers however the laptop will not install them unless they are Toshiba verified?
You can update the drivers within the device manager
    >EDIT: Having spent a bit of time reading other threads i've managed to update the drivers
I assume you updated this via device manager right?
I did it too and it functioned.

It looks like the temporary server malfunction. You can try it later.

  • Blank screen after display driver update Satellite Pro P200

I installed the latest ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600 display driver (8.432, from the Toshiba site via Tempo) on my Satellite Pro P200 yesterday. On rebooting everything looks fine as far as the Windows Vista Business "Please wait ..." screen, but instead of displaying the login page I get a blank screen (with a mouse cursor that moves around as normal). All I can do at this point is power off, and I've run out of ideas on how to get any further.
    Things I've tried:
    # booting into safe mode, low-resolution video or last known good configuration all result in the same blank screen.
    # connecting to the system using remote desktop (to disable the driver) isn't possible because the system hasn't loaded the network drivers yet.
    # I can't revert to a restore point because Vista can't find any (I made a manual one after installing windows updates on a couple of days ago).
I can run a command prompt from the system recovery options and would prefer to use that to disable the driver +if+ I knew how before resorting to the more drastic options.
A web search (http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ati+catalyst+vista+blank+screen&hl=en&sa= N) reveals that this has happened on a wide range of laptops with
previous releases of the driver, but none of the links I've looked at give a solution that's available to me.

No joy with an external screen so I bit the bullet and reinstalled from the product recovery disk. I tried expert mode to retain the data partition but that failed twice, so I had to restore it from the previous day's backup after doing a full reinstall. Two consolations, though.
    # It allowed me to increase the size of the data partition.
    # The display driver update worked fine on the fresh install.
Needless to say I've since found [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927525] which describes how you can disable a problem device driver (atikmdag in my case) from the system recovery command prompt :-(
Hopefully the instructions in there will help anybody who gets caught with similar problems.

    Hi
You have to reinstall the Value Added Package and the Toshiba Flash Card Support Utility!
Firstly remove both software parts from system.
Reboot the unit and then install firstly the VAP and then Toshiba Flash Cards.

  • Satellite A500-1GL - Slow wireless connection

Bought a Satellite A500-1GL, for it's promised performance a couple of weeks ago and I have been let down.
Takes longer than the much older laptop the kids have to start up but that is not the painful issue I have been struggling to fix.
When wired to the router it downloads at 9.46Mb/s but I bought a laptop for mobile convenience.
When wireless its download speed drops to a very painful 0.09Mb/s.
Here's what I have tried so far.
Seller told me it was an Internet Explorer problem and to download Firefox.
It took nearly an hour and didn't make a difference.
I have turned the firewall and virus check off individually and together and no help.
Was told to change the channel of the router, which I did and no difference.
Then told if I changed the TX power level from auto to 100% the problem would be fixed.
But still downloading at same painful level.
The kid's laptop works fine in exactly the same places in the house, at 9 plus Mb/s where my brand new, Toshiba crawls at 0.09, or sometimes 0.10MB/s.
I have also tried turning all other wireless devices in the house off but it hasn't helped.
Can someone please help me. I am at my wits end and regretting spending so much money on this "high performance" laptop.
Oh, I'm on Windows 7, have updated the Realtek RTL8191SE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC and am ready for the hills.
    Help! ................................please!

I really don't know what is wrong there. I have brand new Satellite P500. It is almost the same just little bit bigger notebook and WLAN works perfectly.
Even connected to friends router I didn't noticed bad WLAN connectivity speed. In 30 seconds only I was able to connect to his router and have access to internet.
Try to change standard on the notebooks WLAN card and use it with standard G. Be sure the same is set on router too.

  • Satellite A500-1GL - Windows 7 power options and gaming

    Hi all
Some may know from my previous posts about my issue with the fan on my Satellite A500-1GL causing me concern when I am online gaming. Hitting 90% is worrying. And its still happening with the BIOS update and Toshiba now advising to do a factory restore then if that fails send in for repair.
    Looking at the power options,
I was wondering if anyone could recommend what power options I should consider and would this make any difference for the fan gaming wise (secondlife seems to be the main problem with the fan cranking up)
Any help would be appreciated, trying to think of anything that could help that may be an easy solution to this fan issue
    torti :)

    Hello
To be honest a lot of fan activity during gaming would be normal I think because games need a lot of CPU and GPU power, they always run on a very high level. That means a lot of heat will be produced and this must be cooled to avoid hardware damages.
Furthermore if I play games, its not important how much noise the fan creates because I hear the game music or dialogs Isnt it so? ;)
Anyway, from time to time its recommendable to clean the cooling system of your notebook using compressed air spray:
[How to clean the cooling system of a Toshiba notebook? |http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=40]
And for gaming you can use High Performance or Balanced power option of Windows.

  • Re: Satellite U500-PSU9ME - display driver stopped responding

Since I purchased the laptop I had a problem with the display driver.
The screen keeps blackout and comes back after a second with the massage display driver stopped responding and has recovered, I wish I can attach a screenshot. The laptop have nVidia card on it.
The dealer replaced it for me but even with the new one, it comes each day once or twice
This is my 1st Toshiba, I always heard they are good but now I am kind of confused!
Anyone had this problem and could solve it? Please help.
    Note: i updated all drivers.

Why not? Driver stops responding only when cpu cooler runs on minimal rpm, seems to me, that fan rpm basically depend on cpu heat (_not_ gpu).
Very good solution, but I have a question: would you buy a server that works only when you disable lan card? would you buy a car which can turn only left?
No matter. Never the less, I'm satisfied with how the Intel i3 and Nvidia 310m works.
The thing i DO NOT like and which concerns manufacturer directly is keyboard. I don't know who designed flat buttons, but it's the worst keyboard I seen EVER. You can realize my disappointment, changing eeepc to u500 expecting better and getting THIS. They could at least have upgrade for keyboard replacement, the part that cost $50 spoils $1100, wonderful...
:( I imagined my fist toshiba as much happier thing...

I accidentally spilled a drink on my keyboard of my Toshiba Satellite A500-1GL.
I turned off the laptop immediately and dried it out.
It is being left off until I have a reply.
note: I spilt the liquid just about 1/4 of the keyboard.
    _thank you._

    Hi
You should turn the unit upside down and should wait until the unit dried.
In best case the unit should power up properly but it could be possible that your motherboard or another part like RAM module or keyboard could be affected.
Something similar happened to my girlfriends notebook. In my case the RAM module was dead and notebook could not boot up I replaced the RAM and was happy to see the Toshiba splash screen

  • Display Driver Update for Satellite L30-105

Could anyone give me an idiots guide on how to update a display driver for my Satellite L30-105 ( PSL33E ) PLEASE?

LOL. You need a idiot guide?? Come on man ;)
    Ok, here is my guide;
Download the graphic driver for your notebook model.
    Unzip the package.
Then access the device manager, mark the graphic card, update driver.
Then a new window will open.
There you have to use the second Advanced option.
Then choose the option called Dont search. I will chose the driver (or something like that)
Then point to the place where the driver package has been stored on the HDD and finish the installation.

  • Satellite A100-599 - question about display driver update

    Hi,
I have a Satellite A100-599 with a NVIDIA 7600go graphic card and I have Bioshock like most of you the game crashes because of some problems with the graphic card drivers, no pb...in the meantime NVIDIA released some new patches to the Forceware and after I rechecked the Toshiba driver support database I saw a new release in the Display driver list for WinXp.
One of them seems to be from 13/09/2007. I downloaded the drivers, installed them and after I checked the driver details in the Device manager list and to my surprise the details said the drivers are from 2006. I reinstalled the drivers and the same thing appeared. I checked the XML that was in the drivers archive and surprise ...the drivers are really the old ones from 2006. So my question is this: Do you have any Display Drivers for my model that work for Bioshock :D
    Regards,Marian

I dont know if WE have. I think it would be took some long time to ask every single user: hey, do you have some drivers for blackmodjo? Ah, come on, please. Just a little bit of them... ;)
No, I have a better idea. Its like cooking a meal. The ingredients: DriverCleaner Pro and the website www.laptopvideo2go.com and .... ta ta ta TAAAA a lot of patience
To get some good "bio"shocked meal just follow this receipt:
    Go to
    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/
read before you do anything (YES, even before you continue BREATHING) the FAQ-section on that site (RECOMMENDEDRECOMMENDEDRECOMMENDED)
and then download the drivers. Do it, yes...
Then download drivercleaner by searching for it on www.google.com and THEN, read their Manual before doing anything else (Ok, you can continue breathing..)
After reading their manual you will something like:
    1. Starting program, doing something, restarting machine
    2. starting in safe mode, starting that program, removing..yadayadayada
    3. Installing new driver
    3. Playing Bioshock
    4...
5..no..6. Thanking me and giving me your first born.. ;)
So, by cutting away around 40% of my humoristic stuff and following the constructive technical instructions from me you will be able to play bioshock.

  • Satellite P200-1B6: Sound Driver update fails and HD-DVD Player doesn't work

I have just bought a Satellite P200-1B6 laptop and spent the day installing the updates recommended by the TEMPO program. One of these was a Sound Driver update from RealTek but on running this it fails about 80% of the way through with an error: 'Install Realtek HD Audio Driver Failure !!'.
Now the Toshiba HD DVD player fails to start with an error 'Unable to output the video to an external device.
Please switch your display device by pressing the Fn + F5 keys after ending the application'. I've tried this but it seems to have no effect.
I'm now regretting starting to update the installed drivers. Should I try to rebuild the machine using the recovery discs or is there another solution that someone has found? Or have others found the upgrade works?
    Any advice welcome

Last month I upgraded my PC Satellite P200 (BIOS, Driver ATI HD2600, Package VAP and HD-DVD Player).
But after this update, I was no longer be able to read my HD-DVDs
Error message was: "Unable to send the video to an external device. Please turn off the display device."
The problem was much of the update Realtek R1.76 (Realtek Sound Driver - 6.0.1.547 - 20/11/07) currently proposed on the site toshiba.
Indeed, the P200-1DE is equipped with Realtek ALC268 Audio Codec.
The latest update of this codec is R1.89. I downloaded from the site Realtek and it has allowed me to solve the problem.
    [http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level= 4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false]
