Satellite A550-14K: VT virtualization seems to be disabled

I bought recently a A500-14K and intend to install Linux (done) and use the Xen virtualization.
But it seems that the Xen virtualization is not feasable: the intel VT virtualization is not enabled.
I used the "securable.exe" to verify that and it shows the hardware virtualization as "Locked Off"
The processor (P7350) support that feature ...
My questions:
- is someone know that limitation?
- is there any BIOS update which should fix this problem ?
(I did not find any...)
My BIOS version is Phoenix SecureCore Setup Utility V1.20
- is Toshiba planning to publish a such BIOS update ?
Any help / answer will be appreciate

I dont think that P7350 CPU supports VT. It appears that Intel recently updated the incorrect specs on their website.

I've got a little problem with this notebook and i don't know if someone has a solution
The LED indicator of the HDD is constantly flashing (1 blink per second) even in safe mode. I checked some forums and i have learned that there was something to do with the cd /dvd autorun function of the CD/DVD recorder.
If the autorun function is deactivate in windows registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servi ces\CDRom and key value changed from 1 to 0) the blinking disappears but i can't access any of my CD or DVD data ( the media are marked as blank). However, audio CD and video DVD are working except that they can't be started automatically.
The same thing happens if the CD/DVD recorder is deactivated in the device manager of the control panel : the led indicator has a normal activity.
I would like if this problem occurs with other owners of this product and if there is a solution to use normally the recorder without this flash

I don't have A500 but A300 and I cannot say for sure why this happen and what kind of HDD activity is in progress but what you can try is to remove some Toshiba preinstalled stuff like TEMPRO or preinstalled antivir application.
When the notebook is brand new first days many updates will be installed and in the background is always some activity. Is automatic update disabled?
Try also to remove TEMPRO. This tool is permanent active and search for updates.
Try simply to optimize preinstalled OS and watch carefully if something will change. I do it always after clean OS installation.

Satellite A500-14K - USB key not recognized with Windows 7

I have a Toshiba Satellite A500 14K, it was pre-installed for Windows 7.
I have purchased the Windows 7 upgrade: I received one disk for PC upgrade et one disk for windows upgrade. I have launched the first disk, and then the second one.
There was no special error message during these installations.
Since this upgrade, my PC doesn't recognized the USB keys whereas they work perfectly with the previous windows version with this pc .They are normally plug and play usb keys. When I launched the windows update, a driver is found, but the installation failed in error with a message of access problem.
I have check that the firewall doesn't block the access. I have installed the last version of the BIOS
I don't found any similar pb on the forum

Not BIOS update but chipset utility.
Problem is that this notebook model is not supported for Windows 7 32bit but for 64bit only.
The same chipset is used on Satellite L500 and it is supported for Windows 7 32 bit so you can try to install THIS chipset utility.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

I was able to get to a support person who helped me fix this without charge. I guess it was my bad for not trying the right way to access support.
Anyway, they answer is this.
I had to create a new account on my computer. When I logged into the new account it immediately wanted an AppleID. I used my daughter's e-mail address for the AppleID. This setup the internet accounts correctly with her iCloud.com e-mail address. I was then able to access e-mail in both the browser and Mail. Not that complicated but nothing that I would have easily thought up on my own.

I have been using FireFox for ever and never had this problem. Last week it started not accepting cookies. When I go to my IGOOGLE home page I have to log in as well as other sites that I should always stay logged in to. I have checked FireFox settings and it is set to accept cookies as it should but still it won't. If I try to go to Google search settings, it displays "Your cookies seem to be disabled". The problem is not just with Google.

First go through the procedures in the [[Web sites say cookies are blocked]] article.
If you are still having problems, the file that stores cookies may be corrupt. You can test this by deleting or renaming the file that contains cookies to see if it solves your problem.
# Open the profile folder, for details of how to access that folder see the [[profiles]] article
# Close Firefox
# Rename or delete cookies.sqlite
# restart Firefox and check to see if cookies are remembered

Call-tracking code snippet seems to be disabled

I am trying to implement call tracking on a muse website. the code spnippet has to be insertet an the beginning of the body. I used the object -> insert html function and places the code on the master. If I look at the html code of the published page I can see that the code is there but seems to be disabled (red coulor in Firefox) and thus not executed.

Muse loads jQuery version 1.8.3, which is quite old. I would bet that MaTelCo's script requires a more updated version of jQuery. I've run into this with other Javascript that I've tried to implement into a Muse site. Until Adobe updates the version of jQuery that they implement, we are stuck with it.

Touchscreen issues with 6 Plus, seems to be disabled in landscape view

I have an intermittent problem on the 6 Plus with 8.0.2: the touchProscreen seems to be disabled in landscape orientation (but not portrait). Anyone else?

Adobe seems to be disabled

Not too good with computers! Adobe icon on my desktop but seems to be disabled. How do I reactivate it. I have tried downloading again but this doesn't work. Cannot access videos/ online bank etc.

Please take the screen shot of your desktop, where the icon is located.
Also let me know, the Version you trying o download and use.
Also check the control panel, if the adobe reader is installed or not.
You can also, try repair function in the control panel. Programs and features in windows 7.

Satellite L305-S5968 continually freezes seemingly at random

Started late last night, round midnight. I'd just be browsing and all of a sudden the whole computer would freeze up. No big deal. Not like it hasn't happened before. Tried the whole Ctrl+Alt+Del thing, and it comes up with the "Failure to create security options" error message. Done that before too, so I do a manual reboot. Over the next two and a half hours the whole computer continues to freeze up, but it happens at random times no matter what I'm doing. After a while I notice it tends to freeze not long after the Windows Security Center notifications pop up, but I'm tired so I go to bed. This morning the problem persists. I go onto the desktop and start looking for ways to solve this on google. I followed http://tinyurl.com/o697ps and it worked, more or less. Under the new account I managed to stay on for an hour and a half without issue, and I rectified the problem with Security Center that was making it pop up. So I turn off the laptop and come back here to the desktop to see how to transfer the files from my old account to this new one, start up the laptop, go into the second account, and bam -- ten minutes of working and all of a sudden same problem. Been browsing through this here forum but I can't seem to find anything that sounds as if it would help, so here I am.

My 4th Gen iPod Touch seems to be disabling my router.

I had a hunch that it was my iPod but I thought, naaaa, my iPod couldnt be killing the router. But I did a quick search and found others over on Macrumors forums that were talking about the same issues.
Basically, I think my iPod is somehow killing my router. I take it with me when I go on smoke breaks to play games out in the back of the building. Out there, the wifi signal on my iPod is very weak (1 bar) and that's if I get anything. Doesn't matter because I'm just playing some games I have on the iPod. But when I come back in to the building none of my computers have internet and the iPod also does not show a connection.
This seems to be happening since I got the iPod and started bringing it to work.
I have to powercycle the router only for about 10 seconds and plug it back in and within another 10 seconds or so, all my wired computers get internet back.
Is this a known issue? Is there anything I can do?
Router is a standard Linksys Wireless-G router with 2 antenna (if that matters). iPod is 4th gen, up to date.

I have hear of that before. I would try:
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router.(done)
- Reset networks settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod
If you still have the problem may be time for a new router.

I have upgraded to Firefox 5 and now the Customize toolbar option seems to be disabled. Any ideas how to fix this as I've now lost all my toolbar buttons?

Since upgrading to Firefox 4.01 and now 5 the Cusomise Toolbar function does not appear when selected. No error message appears and there is no resonse whatsoever. I am running on an XP sp3 desktop. Firefox 5 seems to run fine on my Windows 7 laptop but the desktop just doesn't want to work.

When I use internet explorer these tabs do work so not a problem with Yahoo mail- must be problem with Firefox. Recently updated Firefox.

Help! Video filters seem to be disabled...

I'm working on another person's Mac and I ran into an issue that I haven't encountered before.
When I apply a Video Filter to a clip, it allows me to adjust it (Viewer), but it doesn't affect the clip at all (Canvas). And I made sure the Filter's Display Mode was set to "Final."
I thought it had something to do with editing RED footage, but the same issue occurs when working with ProRes and Standard-Definition footage.
Here are the specs:
Final Cut Pro 6.0.5
Mac OS X 10.5.6 with 2x3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
