Satellite A60 Power Saver error

Hi all,I have a Satellite A60 and I am getting the following error at start up;"Power Saver A fatal error has occured this program will be terminated code ox2". At various times whilst logged on my notebook turns off and to continue I have to log in again as from start up.Can anyone please help with a solution.Thank you,Mark.

Hi Mark
The only thing that you can try is to remove power saver and try to install it again. It is also possible that this will not help because there are some entries in the registry. If there is no problem for you the best way is to reinstall the unit with recovery CD. After that it will work again properly.
In my opinion it is not easy to repair some specific tools like power saver.

    Hi
You are absolutely right. Common modules is a kind of basic application who must be installed first. All other Toshiba tools should be installed after. The functionality of Power saver utility depends also on installed common modules.
Unfortunately I can not give you any kind of advice but in case that there is some error message the best solution is to remove and install the Power saver again. Check also Toshiba download page. Maybe you can find a newer version.

  • Satellite P200- Power Saver in XP not working

    Hello,
I have decided to make another thread so that more questions can be answered. Right so I installed Power Saver Driver and then a reboot and then I install Power Saver but when I try to access it from Control Panel I get a message saying "CANNOT open because you do not have access right to use "TOSHIBA Power Saver". Now when I go to the SYs32 directory and look for Toshiba Power Saver related files I find a file called TPSBattM and when I try to run that I get a "A Fatal error has occurred, Code: 0x2".
I have tried re-installing and removing but it still isnt working. Does anybody have a fix for this since this problem has been bugging me on older laptop ever since and TOSHIBA still haven't sorted it out.
I can't seem to find the Common Modules for the Satellite P200-144. If somebody could find them then it should start working again.
Thanks and please somebody try to help me.

  • Power Saver error 0x7E

Hey, I removed the pre-installed OEM windows and installed my own windows, I downloaded all the drivers and software from the Toshiba website, all of it works, except the Power Saver. When it is installed and want's to start, I got the error 0x7E. When I want to remove it to install another version, I also got that error.
Does somebody know a solution? Thanks

    Hi
I have also found some topics about the same issue.
    Check this one:
    http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=9573&messageID=33773#33773
It seems that this problem occurs after manually Windows installation without to use the Toshiba recovery CD.
I dont know exactly why it occurs but in my opinion the Toshiba image includes some files which are missing on the usual Windows installation.
In my opinion you should install the Toshiba recovery OS and if you want you can remove all not necessary applications.

    Hi everyone. I own a M40-110
    Can anyone pls help me with the following;
Lately, I have been getting the following error. "power saver fatal error occured 0x0" any idea what all this means?
Also ever since then, my computer does start up very slowly. Boot screen takes 3-5 minutes to open and once i have my screen is supposedly up and running HDD indicator doesnt turn blue and my screen gets frozen.
Gonna go bonkers as I bought this computer only a month ago ..
    Please help
    Thanks
    Alican

    Hi
Well, that could be a reason for the issue.
If you have installed the original OS from Microsoft CD and not from the Recovery CD you should install all Toshiba drivers, tools and QFEs (Quick Fix Engineering).
You can also install the operating system on English using Microsoft full version CD.

  • Satellite M30: Power Saver options missing after motherboard replacement

    Hi all,
I've just received my laptop back from the service center, and unsurprisingly they stuffed up a feature that used to exist!
I had taken my laptop (M30 1.7GHz Special Edition) to the repair center for a defect and they informed me that the motherboard needed to be replaced. I received the laptop back a couple of days ago and I immediately noticed the laptop getting overheated, the fan did not turn on as frequently as it used to when setting the profile to "Full Power".
After hours of investigation, I noticed that a few options that used to exist in the Toshiba Power Saver does NOT exist anymore. Thus, I feel my laptop is running as in battery optimised even though it's set to full power.
As I said, the fan is not turning on as frequently, leading to the laptop getting overheated. While the fan used to be almost constantly ON on full power prior to the replacement of the motherboard.
Here's how the power saver used to look like "prior" to taking the laptop to the repair center:
    http://www.foxpop.com/imre/2006/toshibatecram3review/toshibapowersaver1.gif
And here's how the power saver looks like now, after the replacement of the motherboard:
    http://www.ixbt.com/portopc/toshiba-satellite/power.png
with the CPU processing speed maximum of 3, instead of 4.
Notice how I'm now missing the "CPU control method" option, and I'm unable to set the processing speed to more than level 3!
The cooling method does not seem maximum performance to me either, due to the symptoms I mentioned above.
Any idea on why that might have happend? Please note that I used the system recovery CD and returned everything to the factory settings, still no luck. I'm sick and tired of going back to their lousy repair center. If someone can point out the problem I will be very grateful.
P.S. I'm using version 7 of the power saver, BIOS verion 1.4 (original)
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
I wonder why you did not contact the service guys again.
After the reparation everything should works fine and if the notebook does not run properly you should immediately report it! In my opinion its a warranty claim.
However, in my knowledge after the motherboard replacement the micro code on the board must be updated therewith the CPU could run with full performance.
What CPU speed appears in the windows system?
Im not 100% sure if the missing microcode update is responsible for your problem but I would recommend asking the ASP for opinion.

  • Toshiba Power Saver fatal error 0x51A on Satellite M115-S3094

    Hello,
By the subject, the problem is there. Unfortunately, my computer which is the Toshiba M115-S3094, just recently had a Fatal Error with the Toshiba Power Saver program like 3 days ago. The Toshiba Power Saver not only does not want to work, but it no longer even shows on the taskbar.First, I went to the Power Properties to restore the proram, but to no avail.
Then, I tried uninstalling and subsequently re-installing the program and it still gave me the same problem with the Error: The program will be terminated. Fatal Error 0x51A. So right now, my laptop is not running on the Toshiba Power Scheme but on the common Windows scheme, like Presentation or Portable Laptop.
So I need help to restore the Toshiba Power Saver. I run the Toshiba M115-S3094 with Windows Media Center Edition.

    Hi
The Satellite M115 seems to be a Toshiba US notebook because of the 5 at the end of the number.
In this case you should use the Toshiba power saver from the Toshiba US site. Did you???
Maybe you have used the right Power saver utility, so possibly some registry or any system files keys are damage in such case the new OS installation from the Toshiba recovery CD would be advisable.

  • Re: Satellite L300-17l - Toshiba Power Saver gives me error after install

When I bought my L300-17l all drivers from Toshiba drivers download pafe worked ok.
Recently I reinstalled my XP OS and now I started installing again all the drivers. LAN was ok, WLAN was ok, Display driver was ok.
But when I get to install Toshiba Power Saver ( URL: [http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/pwrsav-en-20080519172104.zip] ) it gives me this error ( it shows the error either after I click finish on the instalation or before installing has begun, as you can see on this screenshot ) - [http://www.picvalley.net/v.php?p=u/2381/9078672171740560287.JPG]
I tried later this - i go ot control panel and open Toshiba Power Saver, but then it gives me another error - " CANNOT open because you do not have access rights to use "TOSHIBA Power Saver".
I reinstalled again my XP and it still gives me this error....I wonder what the problem could be....PLS help me

    Hi
Satellite L300-17L belongs to the PSLBCE series.
I chosen this model number and found exactly the same power saver which you have tried to install.
Therefore I assume you have chosen the right Power Saver Utility for this notebook model.
But did you install also the Common Module?
This software should be installed firstly before any other tools installation.
Did you update the Win XP to the latest state?
    Check this!

  • Satellite A60-122: Cooling regimes and Power Saver bug

There are two cooling methods available for my laptop: 'Max Performance' and 'Battery Optimized'. Well, I have read what the manual says about these regimes, but my observations are a little bit different. I found out that under the 'Battery Optimized' regime only the primary fan is working (the one with the processor), while under the 'Max performance' regime the secondary fan is operated.
The trouble is in switching between the regimes: once 'Max performance' is turned on, and then the computer is switched back to 'Battery Optimized', the secondary fan will never stop. It is very disturbing, since the secondary fan is sort of noisy. Any ideas how to fix this problem?
I have got the latest BIOS version (1.90) as well as the latest Power Saver program.

    Hello
Sorry but I dont believe you are hardware engineer, hardware designer or maybe software developer to define some behavior as bug. Or I am wrong about it? ;)
How old is your A60? Have you ever cleaned the unit and remove the dust? Can the unit be cooled properly? Please clean it properly and unit will be able to take a breath. That means the cooling fans will run slowly and definitely not so often. After cleaning my old Satellite P20 (three cooling grills) notebook was much quieter.
Power saver is created for battery optimization and allow user to define how the notebook should work with battery or AC power supply. This optimization means lower power consumption and longer work with battery power supply.

This is very interesting issue and I have tested it on my notebook and it works well. I have switched few times between profiles and the result is always the same: the fun runs under max performance but every time when I switch to battery optimized the cooling fan stops immediately. Try please to create own profile with minimum level of CPU activity and cooling method. Connect it to AC power supply and with FN+F2 switch between the profiles.
At the end, if there is some bug I believe in last two years (the unit should be about two and half years old) it should be fixed long time ago.

  • Power Save Utility fatal error 0x51 on Satellite M70

I have just joined my M70 to a domain (SBS 2003) and get this message when I login to the domain.
If I logon to the local user account on the laptop then it works fine.
If I go to power options in control panel and select a different power scheme then the error goes away but I cannot select the TOSHIBA Power Save sheme in the schemes combo.
    Please help
    Cheers
    Dave

Possibly the Power saver Utility and the Power saver driver are not installed for all user accounts on the M70.
Or all user accounts are not authorized to use the Power saver Utility and the Power saver driver.
On the Toshiba driver page you can find the Toshiba Power saver utility and the Toshiba power saver driver.
Both applications must be installed and must run together.
    >If I go to power options in control panel and select a different power scheme then the error goes away but I cannot select the TOSHIBA Power Save scheme in the schemes combo.
This is clear. If the Toshiba power saver scheme will be NOT chosen in the Windows Power Options then you will be not able to use the Toshiba power saver.

  • Toshiba Satellite Pro M30 & Power Saver shutdown error

    hello!
i am fighting with this problem for months now.. the latest version of power saver on my toshiba sat pro m30 running windows xp with service pack 1 installed gives a message box with an error message on shutdown and i am unable to eliminate this error. unfortunately, i cannot consider re-installing the system from scratch, because there are many other applications installed and i cannot lose settings for them. i've read the forums and realised i am not the first one having problems with toshiba power saver. i am even lucky to have it started successfully at the start-up! yet, it crashes at the shutdown. it's quite annoying. also, i have downloaded all latest updates from this site for my laptop, including even bios update.
i would love to have the opportunity to be able to download the bug-free version of toshiba power saver from this site, and i am sure many other people would appreciate the fixes too!
    any feedback on that?
    andrew.

    hello Quad,
    > If your Notebook is properly installed it should work
    > well. All delivered software was tested. The only
    > reason for your problem can be some additional
    > software that you installed later.
my notebook was properly installed and power saver indeed had not been crashing from the very beginning. it started to crash at shutdown after a month of work with my laptop. how can it be that no other application is crashing elsewhere, and only the power saver application does? do you not find it slightly irrelevant to point me again to recovery CD? especially, when i mention that re-installing everything from scratch is not an option for me? moreover, i didn't install anything ultra-specific that loads at startup. in fact, i try to keep my system as clean as possible. no Antivirus, no SP2, no weird background processes.
    > It is also possible that it can be caused by some
    > Antivirus application. Maybe is some application
    > running in background? There are lots of reasons who
    > can be responsible for this issue.
there is logic in your words, but as i said, there are no specific applications installed to be running in the background, except ASIO drivers for the external sound interface, but they were working fine from the beginning with power saver. no antivirus installed either.
and please do not refer to your particular configuration as a standard. all configurations become different as time passes from the original installation. :>

  • Receiving error message when trying to install Toshiba Power Saver

Recently toshiba power saver stopped working - I removed it and redownloaded it from this website, now whenever I try to run the install i get a "unable to machine id" message and the install stops.
First time posting here so If i'm on the wrong forum or you need anything else apologies in advance.

    Hi there,
where did youve downloaded the powersaver? Maybe you downloaded the wrong one for your machine. Its absolutely important to download EXACTLY that software which fits your machine type.
When downloading stuff from toshiba websites you have to keep an eye on the version of your machine (e.g. Satellite A100-552 -> download the software for type "552" of the Satellite A100 series).
This sometimes resolves many errors and clarify some not very nice situations.
Please, more details on your problem. :)

  • Error when installing Toshiba Tools and Power Saver

    Hi,
I have a Satellite A100-771 and installed Windows XP Professional with SP2.
Afterwards I installed all drivers. After that I wanted to install the Toshiba Utilities and have got an error message : "Toshiba common Module not found! This setup will terminate."
Furthermore I tried to install the Power Saver Tool, which is more important as the uilities I think. And here I have got the error message: "A fatal error has occurred. This program will be terminated. Code:0x7E"
I am not sure what I can do else. I also installed the hotfixes for Windows which are on the ToolCD from Toshiba. But the problem is still there.
The difference between both errors is that the installation of the utilities setup stop before finishing installation. On the Power Safer installation, it finished on 100% and terminate the setup or the program after the installation.
    May somebody can help me.
    Eathen

There is a specific order that the Toshiba utilities and drivers have to be loaded in. This list is on the Toshiba download page, and the common modules is one the first utilities that has to be loaded for the others to work
